Medium/Double scoops: Lotus coconut pie/Bourbon Fig and Irish Crunch/Death by Chocolate

TLDR: Definitely recommend. Ice cream hot spot, and I can taste why. Rich and creamy - just want you'd want from a cold treat on a hot day. My husband had the Irish Crunch (which he liked but felt needed more Heath) and the Death by Chocolate (which he enjoyed.) I had the Coconut Lotus Pie (lovely coconut flavor, very satisfying) and the Bourbon Fig (mild bourbon flavor and I could definitely feel the fig texture, but I would have liked a little more punch from both.) The staff was courteous and efficient, even with a line backing out to the street. The seating area is small and can fill up quickly, but you can cross the street and sit by the sound for a nice view. The price is a little steep - two medium cups/double scoops ran us around $17 before the tip - but it's not out of the realm of what you'd expect to pay in a busy beach area and the product is good quality.

We were in the area exploring, and after lunch, decided to get a cold treat. Searched on Yelp and Holy Cow Creamery (HCC) came up. First, look for the Duck Deli. HCC is attached to it, on the side, but you won't be able to see it from the street very well, from your car. Look for the "ice cream" and "milkshakes" flags. You'll have walk through Duck Deli to get to it. Once outside, you'll enter a fun, bright yellow back patio with the HCC order window. They seemed to have a good variety of flavors. They also allow you to sample! I ordered the blueberry cheesecake and was torn between Death by Chocolate and tiramisu, but ultimately I went with Death by Chocolate. I will definitely go for the tiramisu next time. They were pretty generous scoops and I had my fill with a medium size! Great little patio to enjoy your treats. Things to note: - outdoor seating only - small is only one scoop (only one flavor) , medium is two scoops (so 2 flavors), etc. - basically only one flavor in one scoop - I'm assuming their flavors rotate because one of the staff members were writing the menu on the chalkboard by hand. Enjoy, Friends!

This review was meant for the Kill Devil Hills location but if it's the same owners, I'm sure the ice cream is just as good :)

Holy cow is the perfect name for this place. Hands down some of my favorite ice cream. Super creamy and full of flavor.

Quality ice cream with unique choices. Came because we wanted their death by chocolate, but they change flavors so it was unavailable. People who work there were fast and efficient, even with large groups. Would go back, but also want to try other places to compare.

Donut panini with lemon ice cream

Came in after dinner for some dessert. Everyone wanted some ice cream. I was pretty full from dinner and did not want anything. As I was looking at the menu I noticed the donut panini. I asked about it and the lady behind the counter said it was a warmed-up panini stuffed with ice cream. They recommended stuffed with lemon ice cream. What can I say, I ordered and it was scrumptious. I also ordered a chocolate cone in a waffle cone. The place is laid back and folks are friendly. I will be back for more.

The pattern one may notice across my reviews is that my family and I are creatures of habit and when we are in town for our annual family vacation we have some non-negotiable stops. Donutz On A Stick being one of them! While they are tucked into a corner in the Wee Winks Square shopping center, just follow the fresh smell of baked goods :D While they also serve ice cream (I'm sure also good for Summer months especially), you obviously have to get some donuts while you're here. They have a variety of options to choose from (and a cute display window to see what they look like and help you choose, or make the decision harder depending on who you are haha). A small stick is 2 donuts of the same kind and a large stick is 4 donuts total, 2 of 2 flavors (or 4 of the same if you're really committed ;D). You just can't beat the melt-in your mouthness of freshly made donuts. As in, made when you order!! As pictured, we're fans of the rainbow, tuxedo especially, but you really can't go wrong, because the base donuts are solid quality, so the toppings are just whatever suits your fancy in the moment. If you're a coffee person, make sure to get an iced coffee to go with your donuts, they make their own iced coffee cubes so your drink never gets watered down even as it melts! So smooth, so tasty! Cause we come around Thanksgiving, it gets dark early. The shopping center doesn't appear to be well lit at night, so don't let that dissuade you from an evening treat. They're open! And they also update their hours online, so google should usually be accurate as well :)

I remember the ice cream being very good along with their shakes! Today we just got sno balls which is basically a sno cone in a cup. They do have a great variety of flavors. What we got instead was a dessert disaster straight out of a Jimmy Buffett fever dream. My wife ordered ice cream that tasted like it had been cryogenically frozen since the Reagan administration. You ever had ice cream so freezer burnt it crunches? Yeah, it was like that. I figured I'd play it safe and go with a cotton candy snow cone. Big mistake. I don't know what kind of cotton candy they've been sniffing in Hawaii, but mine tasted like a urinal cake in a gas station bathroom--sweet, chemical-y, and weirdly minty in the worst possible way. To top it off, the woman behind the counter grabbed the ice cream bare-handed. No gloves. Just out here raw-dogging the frozen dairy like hygiene isn't a thing. Maybe that explains the "flavor." If you're in the mood for a science experiment gone wrong or want to know what disappointment tastes like, this is your place. Otherwise, steer clear.
