We were in the area exploring, and after lunch, decided to get a cold treat. Searched on Yelp and Holy Cow Creamery (HCC) came up. First, look for the Duck Deli. HCC is attached to it, on the side, but you won't be able to see it from the street very well, from your car. Look for the "ice cream" and "milkshakes" flags. You'll have walk through Duck Deli to get to it. Once outside, you'll enter a fun, bright yellow back patio with the HCC order window. They seemed to have a good variety of flavors. They also allow you to sample! I ordered the blueberry cheesecake and was torn between Death by Chocolate and tiramisu, but ultimately I went with Death by Chocolate. I will definitely go for the tiramisu next time. They were pretty generous scoops and I had my fill with a medium size! Great little patio to enjoy your treats. Things to note: - outdoor seating only - small is only one scoop (only one flavor) , medium is two scoops (so 2 flavors), etc. - basically only one flavor in one scoop - I'm assuming their flavors rotate because one of the staff members were writing the menu on the chalkboard by hand. The coconut Lotus pie was definitely my favorite out of all of the flavors we tried. But the cookie butter was definitely a close second. TLDR: Definitely recommend. Ice cream hot spot, and I can taste why. Rich and creamy - just want you'd want from a cold treat on a hot day. My husband had the Irish Crunch (which he liked but felt needed more Heath) and the Death by Chocolate (which he enjoyed.) I had the Coconut Lotus Pie (lovely coconut flavor, very satisfying) and the Bourbon Fig (mild bourbon flavor and I could definitely feel the fig texture, but I would have liked a little more punch from both.) The staff was courteous and efficient, even with a line backing out to the street. The seating area is small and can fill up quickly, but you can cross the street and sit by the sound for a nice view. The price is a little steep - two medium cups/double scoops ran us around $17 before the tip - but it's not out of the realm of what you'd expect to pay in a busy beach area and the product is good quality. read more

It was an okay experience. There seemed to be a limited number of places to sit. We thought it would be an actual place to go in and not a walk-up drive-thru type place. When we went in, it was in a downpour. We wish we knew what we were doing before lugging our small children (ages 3, 6, 9, and 7-month-olds) out into the pouring rain. It was nice, but it was just not easy to get to. Ice cream was pretty standard, and there was nothing really to ride home about, in my opinion. Service and ambiance also have nothing to ride home on as both were sub-par to standard. There are two cute swans/duck statues to the right of the place, which I am sure is an excellent photo op opportunity when it is not raining like it made. read more

Came in after dinner for some dessert. Everyone wanted some ice cream. I was pretty full from dinner and did not want anything. As I was looking at the menu I noticed the donut panini. I asked about it and the lady behind the counter said it was a warmed-up panini stuffed with ice cream. They recommended stuffed with lemon ice cream. Pros : Interesting flavors, outdoor seating, kindly offered a replacement cone to our toddler who took one lick and knocked his ice cream on the ground. Strawberry with prickly pear ice cream was delicious! Cons: Some flavors were sub par (cookie monster - vanilla base with ores, chocolate chip cookie dough, and chocolate chip cookie pieces but didn't get to any real mix-ins until the bottom of the cone.) Only have waffle cones which are expensive. The day we went (late August, around 7pm after dinner) there were a RIDICULOUS amount of flies swarming all of the tables. TL; DR Hit or miss ice cream with slow service, terrible parking set up and missing some of the ice cream shop basics. We were a group of 12 ice cream loving people, both kids and adults. This review is based on our aggregate experience. We are at the beginning of our vacation and typically go out to ice cream 3-4 times over the course of a vacation. We do not plan to return to this shop. Pros: interesting, off the beaten path ice cream flavors. Some in our party enjoyed the blueberry cheesecake and Irish cream crunch flavors. Cons: First, the service is horribly slow. We waited about 1/2 hour for our ice cream in a line that was just not that long. They clearly need more staff during the summer season. Second, several in our party really did not like their ice cream. The cookie monster and pistachio got particularly negative reviews from our party. I also had the caramel sauce on mine, and it was flavorless. Third, the parking situation is very tough. There are very few spots. We ended up parking across the street, and playing human Frogger trying to cross the road at night. Fourth, they ran out of several flavors by 9pm on a Tuesday night. I tried to order mint chip, cookies and cream and cookie monster... all were out, in addition to others. Lastly, if you enjoy anything other than a standard scoop, you are out of luck. Really good homemade high quality ice cream! You can stick to the basics (vanilla, chocolate, cookies & cream...) or try one of their delicious and unique flavors... like coconut lotus pie, espresso hazelnut, strawberry prickly pear, and a few more. The only con is that they run out of a lot of flavors early and they're not open until 2pm. Location is a pain to park your car so it's best to walk there in you can.
