We went here Friday and I ordered a hot fudge sundae and a banana split for my husband. There was a new girl and a girl training her. My first recommendation would be that the owners require staff to wear hair nets. After my husband worked his way through all the whipped cream and got to the ice cream, he took a scoop and there was a nice, long hair in it. He's bald so definitely not his. Ten dollars for a banana split that went into the garbage can once said hair was discovered. Additionally, there was a sharp spot on his spoon and he cut the inside of his lip on it. Small sign saying cash only. Seems shady that in 2016 you don't take credit cards. I'm sure they have enough profit to cover the 2-3% transaction fees... or just have a minimum charge. Had to walk 10 minutes down the road with a melting ice cream cone while i left my wife and kids behind to hit an ATM so i could pay for their treats. Ice cream was nothing extraordinary...didn't taste homemade. Overall unpleasant experience. Would recommend investing the $20 a month in a credit card processing machine. This is one of the best ice cream shops in duck! The menu has a variety of delicious flavors, toppings, and sizes. Whenever I go I am always satisfied with my order cause the prices are relatively cheap. My only complaint would be that the area is quite small because it is only a window shop but the friendly workers and quick response make it worth it. Highly recommend! read more

I was craving ice cream at the end of our beach trip so my friends and I stopped here to try it out. It's a cute shop right on the water, and it was pretty packed at 2pm on a Thursday. I ordered a double scoop of mint chocolate and cookie dough, with caramel and rainbow sprinkles. It was exactly what I was craving! I'm not sure what brand of ice cream they use, but the Butter Pecan and Peanut Butter Cup are smooth and favorable with numerous chunks. This place is okay--the concept is great but the follow through is not to par. First, the ice cream is fine. There isn't anything particularly "exciting" about it, it's ice cream. The shop is cash only which is kind of annoying in today's world but it's easy to access cash nearby, just be prepared. The reason I rated this two stars is the service. I have never had a pleasant encounter with the staff. They always forget an item which requires you to go back up to the counter, they rarely smile, and frankly it's almost painful to order. I guess I wouldn't mind the cash only, expensive regular ice cream, if the service was stellar, but it's not and it takes away from the experience. I try never to judge based solely on service and I always try to go back--I understand bad days and having to deal with people everyday so I try to blow it off--but this has happened every time I have been there. They close at 8pm during the summer- ridiculous considering sunset is as late as 7:45pm and Duck is a vacation hotspot for families! They also do not take credit or debit cards! I found both of these things out because I went there with friends @ 7:40 and found out they only accept cash, so off we went to an ATM, came back and the place was closed. We came back 2 days later, WITH CASH, and the service was terrible. The girl working the front forgot about one of our milkshakes, but the weird thing is that we were the only customers so it's not like she was super busy or confused.
