They've got quite the operation here. Order on one side, pick up on the other side. Lots of cute merch on the order side too. So many options, it could be overwhelming. Fun for the kids to watch the donuts get cooked and decorated on the pick-up side. Pretty efficient system and service and not a very long wait. Love the S'mores, Blueberry Streusel, Peach Cobbler, and Oreo. Def more of a denser, cakey donut and they may fall apart when you eat them fresh out of the fryer. Lets start with the fact that they shorted us 1 of the donuts we ordered. None of the woman fixing the donuts had their shirts ducked in, so as they worked on fixing a Doughnut their dirty disgusting t shirt would drag over a previous made donuts in our order. First time going here, and with friends who have worked at Duck donuts before. Rudest experience, and no care for severe peanut allergy. We had the pleasure of getting our order done my Heather N. who greeted the guest before us pleasantly "Good morning what can I get for you all?" and then us, a group of 4 girls, with "I'll take whoever's next" with an agitated tone. My friend, who worked there before, prefaced we had a person in our group that had a severe peanut allergy so that when ordering the fan favorite, we could have the peanut ones substituted. Thinking that was a simple ask, Heather then asked my friend to read them off one by one because she in her words "I don't know all the donuts on the menu". My friend then started to list off the donuts. She then said "slow down honey" my friend showed down, then "your going too fast" my friend slowed down even more. At some point Heather decided to take the menu from my friend, then to make it straitened out slammed it in the counter, I think to show how annoyed she was with us. We ask for a second dozen and she then does the same thing. My friends say again, nothing with peanuts because of the allergy. And we complete our order. We head over to the pick up area and then double check the receipt to make sure there's nothing with peanuts butter on it. There was in fact a donut with peanut butter in there. We went up to the ones preparing the donuts and they actually had it done, which was amazing but we had to ask for the one dozen to be redone. Went to the location in Duck, NC in OBX. You order from a kiosk or a staff member. If you know what you want, use the kiosk. If it's your first time or have questions, order from the staff. Then you go back outside across the deck to pick up your order which they will call you by number. This is to help with the flow when they are very busy. Be ready for a sugar rush. When I got into my 3rd donut my face started to tingle. If you are visiting OBX they have several locations to choose from, you got to try it at least once. In my photos here is what I got. Staying in Nags Head but made the northward pilgrimage this morning to the original Duck's location. Really glad I did. Duck, NC is a bird sanctuary, no fireworks allowed, and is an incredibly charming place. You order and get your coffee/merch in one location, then walk a few steps into another building where there's nothing but the glorious production of donuts made to your specifications and served warm and fresh, right out of the fryer. The lady at the order counter was friendly and helpful, while the donut makers were less talkative, focusing diligently on their craft. I can respect that. Be sure to take a stroll on the connected boardwalk to take in the many great neighboring shops/restaurants and the gorgeous vistas of Currituck Sound. read more

Would normally give this place 5 out of 5 stars...but the prices and parking could both use some adjusting, that being said DELICIOUS donuts. To me the donuts tasted more cake like and were much easier to eat with a fork. A little more oily then I had anticipated, but an awesome treat for sure. Set-up is great with ordering on one side and pick-up on the other leaving them middle sections between each building open with picnic tables and a walk out to the desk facing the beautiful water. Parking is horrible for the amount of people that come in and out. Prices were more than I had expected but I guess if people are willing to buy them at that price why lower them. On one side you order all your donuts and then through their other entrance you can watch them freshly make and decorate your donuts. I ordered the blueberry lemonade and the French Toast. I was recently in the Outer Banks for a family vacation and stayed in Duck and no visit would be complete without a trip to Duck Donuts. We hadn't been to the area since 2022 but it was well worth the wait (ended up going three days in a row). The service was much better than we remembered and had our order done within 15 minutes. The area where you place your order is very welcoming and allows you to check out some of their merchandise while you wait for your order. The people are great and super friendly here. My only complaint is that the place has outgrown its space and needs to find an alternative location for parking. Otherwise, I could go for their maple bacon donut right now! read more

There were 15 people standing around, hovering over donuts, and while the woman was putting the icing on our donuts, another guy next to her was just sitting there talking to her talking and spitting over our donuts. Probably some of the BEST donuts I've ever had. I'm gonna dream about these donuts for a while. I highly recommend sitting down and indulging in your donuts as soon as you pick them up!
