We were in the area and drove past the restaurant and found it on line and looked at their menu. Things looked good so we thought we'd give it a try. We went there for lunch. My husband got a steak with baked potato. I got their chicken and dumplings. My husband said best steak he has had in a long time. My dumplings were great and tasted homemade. In the area to visit Gatlinburg but stayed in Sevierville. This place was around the corner from us so let's check it out. Smelled great inside and had a nice bar area. Got apps of spinach dip and chili. Main course was Smokey Mountain Grill which was really weird, chicken breast with a piece of bacon on top and slightly melted cheese. Side loaded mashed potatoes, overall was a weird dish. Date got the cajun chicken pasta. Her dish was rather bland but looked good. Service was great! Well first I'll say the steak with the garlic butter sauce and baked potato tasted very good. I ordered a frozen margarita which was not frozen. When I called the server back over she said I know, sorry I left it sitting up there...why did you bring it if you "knew"... Sent it back and it came out half full of ice. The salads came out after the steak and baked potatoes. The server apologized and said she should have brought the salads out sooner... The salad was supposed to have egg in it and it didn't. The steaks, filet and rib eye, were supposed to be medium well, pink, with no blood. They were both bleeding. Then the tickets were both wrong. I still tipped 20% and yes they were busy... but train your servers to not bring stuff they "know" isn't right, and to bring the salads before the meal... your cooks should know when a steak is medium well. We also ordered the black cherry margarita and black cherry old-fashioned. I did notice when the black cherry old fashion was delivered, and I was halfway through the drink, the glass had a large crack in it. They took it back and replaced it with a brand new drink. Came here with my friend upon leaving town due to all the other popular non-chain-restaurants being 1+ hour wait since we decided to go eat when the, "after church crowd" was out. I never heard of this place and neither has my friend but the reviews on yelp helped us both decide to give this place a try. I'm glad we did! The food and service were great! The ambiance was very good. That's about the only good thing to say about Holston's. I ordered a frozen peach margarita, which came in a warm glass, as if it had just come out of the dishwasher, and the drink tasted watered down. There was no slushiness to the mixture at all. I ordered the open faced roast beef with a side salad. I asked that my salad be brought out before my entree. It wasn't. The entree was to be sliced roast beef layered on mashed potatoes on Texas toast. There was plenty of meat, but the Texas toast was burnt. And there was definitely not enough brown gravy. My wife ordered the fish and chips. The fish was very good, but a very small portion. She also asked for her slaw to be brought out before her entree. It wasn't. Our server was very nice, very attentive, very knowledgeable and very accommodating and personable. Our food came out in no time.
