Came for a Friday night "all-you-can-eat" Fish Fry....for $13.99, all you can eat fish and chips, with 1 trip to the soup/salad bar. Unfortunately, it's not all-you-can-eat when the waiter fails to come back to your table for the entire meal, so that you're essentially left to eat ONE plate or wait over an hour to get a second plate. We came fairly early during the dinner service, so it wasn't very busy, yet the overall time in the restaurant to order and get offered a 2nd plate of fish was ~75 minutes. We asked for a dessert menu, yet when the waiter didn't come back within another 15 minutes....we just paid for the dinner and left. For the food itself, it was ok, although fried fish got soggy within a few minutes. Salad bar was small and the lettuce was slightly wilted. All in all, disappointed with my first time here. The reviews for breakfast all seem a lot better, so will need to try out the restaurant then. read more

My fiancé and I had just gotten back from a trip and didn't have any food at our place, so we decided to have lunch here before going grocery shopping. I don't typically eat at diners because the food can be heavy, but Holidays was just amazing. I ordered a sandwich and my fiancé had a breakfast wrap, and both were made with incredibly fresh vegetables and weren't oily or buttery at all. The meal was light, satisfying, and I felt great after eating. Generous cuts of fresh lettuce, slices of green avocado, hearty tomatoes, and crispy bell peppers. The bread and tortilla were light and airy and could have just been baked. This place won't leave you feeling bloated, it'll leave you feeling good about the meal you ate. Additionally, service was wonderful. The owner (I believe) was present and offered us more coffee, and the waitress was kind and quick on her feet. We don't eat out much, but we will absolutely be returning here! read more

It took over three years for me to try this place because it honestly just doesn't seem like it would be good. It looks like an independent Coco's, so my expectations were low. But we were out and about one evening on the west side of town, tummies were rumbling, and we said hey, why not. Honestly, we were so pleasantly surprised! They have great fries, I loved my tuna melt, my son ate his entire grilled cheese (which never happens, and I was really wanting some of it because it looked delish). They are also very kid friendly; a big bucket of crayons and a stack of coloring books to choose from. I went back a few weeks later and took my mom for breakfast when she visited, and I didn't love the breakfast as much but it was pretty decent. I got biscuits and gravy and my biscuit was pretty dry. The fried potatoes are good but they are huge pieces and pretty oily. Good decaf coffee though! I do wish they had real cream instead of the disposable minis at the table, but something tells me that if I asked, they probably would bring some out from the back. Another thing that gives this place serious points for me was that they had peanut butter in the back for my son's pancakes. We don't do syrup and I usually bring my own peanut butter for his pancakes because most diners don't have it. I forgot this time but Holidays had some and they saved the day! Went back a third time (this time for lunch) and we were again pleasantly surprised. Picky kiddo ate his whole grilled cheese again, I got a really good BLT with a cup of veggie soup (also really good), and my hubby got a BLT with clam chowder. His only gripe was that the chowder was really thick (almost pudding consistency) but some people like that. I probably won't switch to Holiday's from my other go-to breakfast places, but this is a great spot for a family friendly lunch or dinner! Good food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. If you've been hesitant to try it, just go! You might be pleasantly surprised too. read more

Holiday's has consistently has good food and great service. I am usually there for breakfast (which is fantastic), but I have had some of there dinner fare and that is great as well. You will not suffer from lack of choice when visiting this restaurant. I recommend the corn beef hash with home fries. read more

I love me some brunch and I like going to as many brunch places as possible. This place doesnt look like much but its on of those really good, cheap diners that pull off brunch really well. I got the taco skillet and thw red velvet panckes. The pancakes were fantastic(Im a fan of red velvet), the fact that they had red velvet which are way more rare than they should be was a plus. The taco skillet was really good much to my surprise, plus the over easy eggs were well done. A few too many peppers and onions in my opinion but if thats youre thing go for it. Also helped that you can get a side of sausage gravy! Plus the place is super cheap! Definitely give it a shot. read more

Breakfast items I read are best to order from Holidays so that's what I went with. Ordered the Greek omelet with American fries crispy. Well done omelet, fluffy and with good amounts of feta. We were pleasantly surprised with Holiday's. There's nothing fancy about it, but the people are nice and their food is solid. We first came for lunch with some friends. Little Girl got the kids' fish and chips, and I had their taco salad. The portions were both large - Little Girl's kids' portion would have been enough for me. The fish was lightly battered and perfectly crispy. The fries were quite good, too! The taco salad was so good, I ordered it again the next time we came. Our second lunch, Hubs ordered a Reuben, which he said was exactly what he wanted. The meat was flavorful, but not fatty. Little Girl had chicken strips. Again, they were perfectly crispy, and her fries were good. Their service is friendly, and prices are reasonable. All in all, we will continue to come here, and I gladly recommend it to anyone looking for standard American diner fare. read more

Zero stars for literal lack of service. Two stars for okay food on previous visits. In the last 18 months I have lunched here a few times with companions who know the owners. Service was fine, food was fresh and had flavor. Extensive menu choices will fit most diets. They are locally owned. So a few weeks ago, tired from running errands, I chose Holiday's as a pleasant spot to lunch and regroup. It was the end of the main lunch hour, about 1:30 p.m.. When I entered, the older woman at the register had her back to the door and didn't acknowledge me. Thinking she was concentrating on the accounts and hadn't heard me, I asked where I should sit. She told me to sit wherever I liked. I chose a booth near the windows, a few spots beyond the couple of tables still occupied. I waited for a server. And waited some more. By then only one other table close to the front was still occupied. A server inquired whether they needed anything else, chatted with the customers for a minute, looked toward me, then disappeared. I waited for her to return with water and menu. She didn't. A man came out of the kitchen and began moving soup kettles (?) off the counter. He looked my way too, and disappeared. I'd been there almost 15 minutes, still no servers visible. I didn't feel like going to track someone down in the kitchen or lounge or wherever staff might be hiding. After 20 minutes I decided to find a restaurant that wants my business. As I stood and gathered my things, a woman came out of the back area with a glass of water and menus. She went straight to - two booths in front of me, where a woman who had just walked in the door was headed!! As I walked out past her, neither she nor a busboy near the front said anything to me. Apparently Holiday's Restaurant is actually a private club and you need to arrive with a letter of recommendation from an existing member. read more

We've been here about a dozen times and each time the food was excellent... didn't matter whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner though we've been here mostly for breakfast which is excellent. I have to write an update after my last several visits have been less than great...The food quality has remained pretty consistent ( perhaps deserving of 3 stars) but the service for whatever reason has deteriorated in my mind...Even the same waitresses I have always gotten here have begun to drop the ball. Last week I went to Holiday's for one of their great early bird specials. When I got my bill I noticed that I had been overcharged. Instead of the waitress acknowledging her error, she argued with me. I had to show her the menu to "prove" I was right. Besides this instance, I have noticed that there is a definite lack of attention to customer service here as of late. Though Holiday's used to be a favorite of mine, I will definitely be choosing Bell's Diner up the street or other places from now on :-/ read more

It's very close to where I live so it's convenient. However, I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was a processed chicken patty. You could tell because the inside was like a chicken nugget. I feel like it's very doable to bread your own chicken breast and fry it. McDonald's has better quality chicken then what I received. read more

After my experience last night, I unfortunately have to go along with Rob P.'s assessment that service has been lacking lately. Last night I ordered a Greek salad and my husband ordered pancakes. After waiting for what seemed like a long time--probably 20 minutes or so--our server came to our table to inform us that they were out of Greek dressing. It took them until our order was up to figure this out. I blame the kitchen for this and not our server, who was extremely nice and obviously annoyed with the cooks. At that point, my husband's pancakes were ready and I had her bring out his food and ordered a chicken quesadilla, figuring that should take maybe 5-10 minutes on the fly. It ended up taking basically the same amount of time we waited for our food originally. Another 20 minutes. At which point my husband was way done with his pancakes. There is absolutely no way that a quesadilla takes that long to make if it's expedited by the cooks, as it should have been. The food was delicious, but I was pretty annoyed--and starving--by that point. Our server comped our drinks--a soda and a milkshake--which was thoughtful of her, but I really think my quesadilla should have been comped as well and a manager should have checked up on us. I get the feeling things are pretty laissez-faire at Hoildays, which is usually fine, but not on this particular visit. read more

I ordered the Smokey Mountain Chicken with a salad and a side of carrots. My spouse ordered the Eggs Benedict, and we got a hot dog for my kid. This was a pretty awful dining experience -- from the smell of the restaurant (smelled like mold in the entry way, and overall musty inside) all the way to the food and portions. The greeter inside the door was also terribly rude and very curt. The chicken was cooked appropriately, but it was easily the smallest portion of chicken I have ever seen. They served it on top of what seemed like boxed rice and a cut up carrot which was bland at best. Everything seemed like GFS would have better food if I just picked it up myself. The eggs Benedict was overcooked, which is probably the best thing we could say, because hopefully nobody will get food poisoning. And the hot dog was cold. On top of the bad food, negative experience they decided that it would be a good idea to add a 3.99% surcharge on credit card bills. At a restaurant this is not normal -- most restaurants have an easier time handling credit card transactions than having to pay people to make cash deposits. Avoid this place. read more

I wouldn't say it's delicious, gourmet food by any means, but I was skeptical when my family asked me to go to breakfast with them there- I'd been to Holiday's 3-4 years ago and have bad memories of the food. This time around, the food was hot and hearty. I ordered the corned beef hash and it tasted really fresh and tasty. My low expectations were definitely surpassed. Everyone else at my table liked their food too! The boy and I had been here a couple of times before for dinner and left feeling very underwhelmed. Now I'm giving them a 4-star review based SOLELY on their breakfast/brunch. We stopped in here on Easter Sunday because we wanted breakfast/brunch and didn't feel like cooking. We waited maybe 15 minutes and were seated. They apparently had a brunch buffet going on, so we opted for that. The food was awesome! They had waffles, an omelette station, and dinner options (a carving station, veggies, potatoes, etc.). I was quite impressed. The omelettes were good, the potatoes were awesome, and I was a happy camper because of all the bacon. I also ordered a milkshake because hey, why not? Oh my gosh! I just enjoyed the best rueben sandwich here. It was the perfect blend of flavors. The corned beef was cooked perfectly and very yummy. My husband had the fish and chips and my daughter had cinnamon French Toast. Everything was perfect with good-sized portions. BONUS - THEY HAVE MIMMOSA'S and other breakfast drinks. Review for Thanksgiving Day buffet only I came here because it was one of the few places open on Thanksgiving Day with hours about 9 or 10 and closing at 2. Damage: $13 per person with a buffet of sliced turkey breast, ham, mashed potatoes, beans with white gravy (huh??), boiled pumpkin, sweet potato, stuffing, and small cheesecake squares, and pumpkin and apple pie. The turkey was pretty dry and was obviously prepackaged since there were only round breast sections that were sliced uniformly. The other food was ok - solid and nothing exciting, but not bad either. For the price I was hoping for more (I suppose they're worried people wouldn't tip the waiters enough?), but there are certainly worse places to spend Thanksgiving if you're not in the mood - or have the wherewithal - to cook! read more

Cheap food? 4 stars Decor & overall restaurant appeal? 1 star We went for dinner with a Groupon, and I was worried as we walked in that it was going to be a lousy place. The table is FULL of ads. They don't have a liquor license, though our server said theory were getting one soon. There were more workers than clients. The big surprise came when we got our food. It was actually REALLY good! We both got items off of the burger/sandwich part of the menu and both things were really tasty, and very importantly, they have awesome fries!! Re-reviewing favorite places during the pandemic. Holidays was the last place I ate before the shut-down and the first place I ate after it was lifted. They are assiduous in following all safety protocols and we will continue to make it our go-to place. So many places claim they "can't" enforce safety--well, I "can't" go to a place that doesn't! The wait time to be seated was average, which gave us high hopes for prompt service. However, we were thoroughly disappointed. After waiting 15 minutes to place our order, it took an hour to even receive our food. I ordered the Country Omelets which the waitress realized was missing the country gravy, after she brought it out. When she brought it back, the omelet was cold and the only thing that made it tolerable to eat was the unbelievably bland "gravy" on top of it. My guy ordered a simple breakfast; 2 eggs over-medium, sausage, hash browns and toast. His breakfast was not only cold, but his eggs were cooked beyond over-hard. And they somehow managed to get his choice of rye toast wrong. The coffee, although hot and constantly refilled, was watered down by any standards. And it took the waitress 3 trips to even ask if my guy wanted a refill on his ice tea. The only thing that saved them is the waitress comped his breakfast. I realize the blame cannot be put solely on the waitress, as she has no control over how terrible a job the kitchen staff does. However, she should have recognized the errors on the plates before serving them to us. I've been to a lot of breakfast places in Ann Arbor and have never had such a horrific experience. I will not be returning to Holiday's. I would rather drive 20 minutes out of my way to go to Achilles on Packard and Platt. read more

Started out good and was just a slide down hill from there. I got the Cheeseburger soup, I must say it was yum and did taste just like a cheeseburger. Boyfriend got the chili mediocre at best. Our app was the fried zucchini and it was bad I'm assuming frozen by the lack of taste and consistency of the zucchini and the outside was over cooked. Then our meal, meatloaf for both of us. I got mashed potatoes, carrots and stuffing. Mash potatoes were good but nothing else was, the meat loaf was so dry and boring I did my best to eat one of the three pieces. Carrots and stuffing I couldn't even stomach, carrots looked good but had a strange taste something that was put on them. And the stuffing was a slimy blob that had a horrible taste. Boyfriend got mashed potatoes, broccoli and a side salad. Broccoli was bad and they cooked it and served it anyway. Salad was only lettuce cheese and dressing NOTHING else. Also when we were signing the bill my boyfriend noticed an extra charge that was not on the original bill in smaller print. They charged extra for us to use a credit card. I have never had this at a restaurant ever. We will not go back. We talked after and decided it was one of the worst meals we have ever got and by far the worst in Ann Arbor. read more
