I want to give a huge heartfelt thank you to Carlos and the amazing staff at Hola Bend Restaurant! My dear friend Jennifer Kem 's husband Brandon was in a horrible motorcycle accident on Sunday. Brandon, his friends and family are all from the Portland area, however Brandon is in the ICU at St. Charles Medical with severe head trauma and other injuries. 14 of Brandon's family members are basically living at the hospital waiting on his recovery, which could be months! I reached out to several restaurants in the area and asked if any of them could donate hot meals to these 14 family members. 14 people to feed is quite a task and can be very financially difficult, especially when you are missing work, staying In Hotels ect....Hola's owner Carlos reached out to me immediately and without even knowing us, said "whatever this family needs we will do" Hola's restaurant is donating lunch or dinner for 14 people for 7 days!! I cried when he told me....how amazing this man was to show my friends such amazing hospitality and kindness! Such an act of kindness meant so much to not only the 14 people staying by Brandon's side, but to friends and family here in Portland who feel helpless being so far away! Carlos and staff stepped up where we could not. Carlos personally came to the hospital and gave the family gift certificates! This man and this restaurant have blessed us and are a blessing to your community! Thank you Hola's from all of the Kem's friends and family who could not bring them a warm meal! Service was mediocre, glasses sat empty for a bit and took forever to get our bill but I was probably cranky because our food was so bad. I ordered the tequila steak tacos, which tasted more like eating a burger, due to the GRILLED onions (wtf?) and completely unseasoned steak. BF ordered a chile relleno, which came drenched in sauce (it was like a tiny boat in a sea of soup) and it was completely flavorless too. Overall we were so unimpressed we ended up leaving most of it behind and going somewhere else for lunch. Big disappointment. read more

Located at the corner of an open air shopping center, Hola is a small neighborhood restaurant with a great vibe, friendly staff, and excellent Peruvian & Mexican food. Decorated in vibrant colors, Hola has about 10 tables and about as many seats at the bar. My wife and I didn't have any trouble getting a table on the Wednesday night we visited. The two man wait/bartending staff were friendly and efficient. The house margarita was excellent and served with both the full rocks glass and a mostlmeanings shaker, meaning I got 2-3 margaritas for the price of one. The chips and salsa were served with both red and green salsas to suit either preference. We started with the shirmp empanadas, which were excellent. My mole poblano (chicken with mole sauce) was rich and delicious, served with rice and tortillas. My wife's mole enchiladas were also excellent, though they were helped by a generous serving of the mole sauce from my plate. While we don't live in Bend and were just passing thru, I'd stop by Hola again any time. Very worth while. read more

Hola's flat out rocks! We're from California and have enjoyed every restaurant from Sacramento to San Diego and Mexico. My wife and are serious food enthusiasts (foodies) and have been in Bend for two years, and Hola's was one of the first restaurants we made a connection with. The staff at Hola's leads the way in making customers feel like family. They're in our top three Bend restaurants when it comes to Bend hospitality. The staff is amazing and unfortunately if you love Tequila or margaritas, don't go to Hola's they make the best in the world. And we've traveled the world. Ok now THAT was FANTASTIC!! Visiting Bend, we are picky foodies from Portland looking for something special. We found it! Service was exceptional in every way - attentive, friendly, knowledgeable. Food was out of this world! Had chile relleno and tamales. Both dishes very authentic, fresh, beautifully plated and perfect temp. Margaritas - we had the Fresca and the Red Cactus - both AMAZING! They were spendy but they leave a full shaker so you get literally 3 drinks when ordering 1. Literally the only potential drawback was strip mall type environment, but the restaurant was festive and nice inside and had nice outside seating. All in all a 10! read more

This place has a great selection of tequila, and they make some stellar drinks - I particularly like the Mexican Martinis. The food is very good, however I think that they could use a little more consistency... I have had really, really good food there, and I have also had some average stuff. For the most part, I have not been disappointed - however considering that they are NOT downtown, they really need to bring the prices down a little. The drink prices are enough to give you a heart attack, and then the food prices don't alleviate the pain either. I could give this place the full 5, but the prices give me a heart attack, and I haven't recovered yet. I think that if you could get a LUNCH menu price structure set up there that I would go more often... but as it stands, this is a place better saved for a time when someone else is buying, and you don't even get to see the bill. Hola is a small restaurant with a good menu selection, and the waitstaff are very friendly. The Guac is made table side to your specifications. I enjoy going back when I get the chance. The food is appropriately seasoned and is served piping hot. read more

We have been to the other two Holas in town and did not find them to be up to the standards of this Hola. We had heard from a few others that this one is the best in town. When you walk in there is plenty of bar seating and a few other tables to the side. We decided to sit at the bar before we got a seat and right away the bartender got us our drinks and they were very good. After a while we ended up getting seated but they forgot to give us menus. After about ten minutes we asked for menus and the server apologized. We ordered a Baja burrito with all of the fixins and the Enchiladas Ranchero. As well we had asked for a side salad because we are not big fans of rice and beans. The enchiladas and burrito were good but the best was the side salad that we ordered it had mangos, oranges and many other great things in it and the dressing was awesome. If you feel like having a drink that will get you feeling great order the Gran Corzo Margaritta. Our server Ulresses was awesome and we hope next time we go he will be there. read more

We ate at Hola's Old Mill location. Granted, it's in a shopping center and next to a cineplex, but WOW did we love the food, the margaritas and the service. We started with the drinks (natch!) and we asked for 'ritas that weren't too sweet. What we got were fresh, hand-made, with no trace of green mar-gar mixer. The complimentary chips (tortilla and some awesome potato) were fresh and the red and green salsas very tasty. We lived in Texas for 20 years and tend to judge a Mexican restaurant by its chips/salsa and margaritas...so far, so awesome! We split an order of guacamole, made table-side. It was fresh and delicious, and while it could have had more jalapenos for out taste, we loved it anyway. Entree time...the spousal unit ordered the grilled shrimp in bacon and chipotle cream sauce, and he deemed it the best food he's had in Bend. I had the chicken enchiladas with tomatillo (can't remember name of the dish) and they were tender, the chicken was moist yet all white meat, and the tomatillo sauce was very good. On top of all of this, our server was very attentive and timely without hovering--we really appreciated his care to serve us margaritas that we spec'd. And the price was more than fair. We will certainly return, maybe even once more before our Bend adventure ends. read more

My thanks to Nato, manager of Hola @ Forum Shopping Center. He graciously, professionally and generously turned a frustrating situation into a very pleasant meal. We were 7 with a reservation for a busy Friday night but were not seated for over a half hour. I was finally able to speak to Nato, suggesting that perhaps they shouldn't take reservations if they can't honor them in a timely manner (this had happened to us before as well). He graciously apologized, professionally explained the situation and generously provided their delicious guacamole fresco for our table. And of course, our meal was as delicious as we have come to expect at Hola!. One other observation; while servers and bus people were scurrying around taking care of diners, I was surprised that the hostess didn't jump in to help. Went for lunch today, had never been. I ordered a combo with just one chicken taco. My husband a shredded beef burrito. Food came out fast but his burrito was chicken, so he sent it back. The chicken in my taco was plain, maybe boiled in broth? Very dry and had no flavor. However, once they brought my husband the right burrito, he said it was pretty good. Awesome food! So, so yummy. We had a party of about 9 and everyone loved it. We ordered pitchers of blackberry margaritas, which were delicious! The service was awesome, too. The chips were a little stale, and the Mole was bland. Also they charged our card $250 instead of $25, and after being called by the bank and myself many times they still would not remove the hold on our funds (even after saying they would send the fax to the bank.) It would have taken them three minutes to correct their mistake, but instead they said would do it when they could.. read more

My husband and I were visiting the inlaws and took them in for a bite. We didn't know what to expect since we had the most delicious and unique food in Peru last December. How could it possibly compare? We were more than pleased that Hola! could choose such a great menu with "typical" Peruvian plates to choose from. We ate Peruvian while my inlaws ate Mexican. This is great mexican food, non-traditional menu, but fabulous. Great tamales dishes. The chips and salsa are as good as it gets with the green salsa. Great bar. I prefer the location at the Old Mill (better bartender), but both locations serve consistently excellent food. Great staff. There's often a little bit of a wait time which I think is just fine, I want them to stay busy and stay open. We've lost too many good restaurants in this town. read more

Having moved here from south Florida this past May, I was missing some of my favorite foods....not anymore Hola is one of a kind you can have either Mexican or Peruvian plates and both are delicious. We got here at 7pm on a Thursday and had a 20-30 min wait but we felt they forgot about us and that pretty much was the theme all night. Service and food prep was super slow. Our waiter was nice and thanked us for our patience several times but we had to wait forever for food. It is 9:15 and we are just leaving and not because we wanted to be there that long. The carne Asada was really good. The fish tacos were nice but the rice and beans with it were def nothing special. The chicken enchiladas were average. i was visiting Bend looking for food and stopped in here. It was surprisingly good. The restaurant sits in a mini-mall next to some Japanese place. I had the Aji chicken thing. My wife had the Peruvian chicken tamales. My son the halibut fish tacos (homemade corn shells). And my daughter had the burrito. The tamales and the sauce were fantastic. They were served with a green rice that was delicious (in fact I had forgotten how good green rice is). The fish tacos were my second favorite (and there was some disagreement about this amongst us, others preferred the aji chicken). Anyway, the halibut was perfectly grilled and nicely flavored. The homemade corn tortillas were delicious (made me wish I just ordered a side of those). The salsas and stuff on the fish, a delicious compliment. The aji chicken thing is delicious and a bit unusual. I'd get it again. The cold mashed potatoes that come with it are fantastic. Frankly, It would not be difficult to come to this place and share any of the entrees - really, they are cowboy sized. The drinks are large. While I'm not fond of large food I do love large drinks. There were really 3 "normal" bar servings with each drink. I do NOT recommend the Margaretta - too sweet. Instead, I'd suggest a caiparinha - all the alcholol of a margaretta with more of the lime flavor one would expect. Basically, the caiparinha tastes like what one would expect a marg to taste like. Anyway as I said they are pricey but they are large, so in essence, you end up with a really good deal (like a 3 for 2 happy hour all the time). Had the churros for dessert. I'm not a fan but these were good. I'd love them for breakfast. The carmel sauce that accompanied them was homemade and delicious - I'd love of bowl of that. Anyway, I clearly like the place - gave it a 4. It is not a dive - it is a nice restaurant with delicious food (and large servings). read more
