We happened upon Hoi An Cafe because the Dim Sum restaurant we found on Yelp required reservations. Hoi An Cafe was a great find. One of the best Vietnamese food experience we've had the privilege to enjoy outside Vietnam . The Pho was delicious without being overly salty. # 6: Yellow Noodles with Shrimp and Pork with a side of herb salad was delicious! The Rice Cake appetizer with Shrimp was one of the tastiest Vietnamese food I've enjoyed. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

Our go-to place for Bun Bo Hue. If we are ever craving a good bowl of Bun Bo Hue, this place never lets us down. Probably one of the more authentic places we go to. It's consistently good and we absolutely love all the steamed rice cakes. The Bun Bo Hue flavours are only slightly spicy, extremely fragrant, has a tiny salty and souch punch that I love. A lot of BBH out there is all spice but no fragrance, this is one of the few places I have been satisfied with this delicious spicy, meaty, soupy, thick rice noodle dish. Banh beo Nhan Uot is probably our favorite of all the steamed rice cakes (even though they're all good). The flavour is sweet, salty, umami, the rice cakes are chewy, fresh, and it always comes steaming hot. Service is friendly and quick. The restaurant itself has little decoration but none is needed. The seating is comfortable and I always leave happy and full.

Looking for pho for lunch along Victoria Drive. Tough to decide which one as so many Vietnamese establishments between 33rd and 41st Ave. Stopped at Hoi An Cafe as it was full of patrons. Got the last open table and ordered the large beef pho. The small is $14 and the large $15...so was an easy choice. The pho came out fairly quick with the side plate of sprouts and basil leaves. The taste and presentation was in line with other pho I have had in recent weeks. I liked the beef broth. The service was quick and efficient and the establishment was clean. It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Hoi An Cafe for pho.

Got the Hu tieu do bien nuoc (seafood thin rice noodle in soup). This is one of my fav Vietnamese dishes and the one at Hoi A Cafe hit the spot! The broth was clear and not too salty - made me feel cozy on a typical Vancouver rainy day. Noodles were a good texture as well. The service was also good! The staff were cheerful and always checked up on us. Will come back to try their mi quant which is the dish Hoi An (the city in Vietnam) is known for

What a find. Drive by Victoria Dr all the time but today I was craving for pho. Many people recommend this hood but you know better than me that there is a Vietnamese restaurant just about every block between 41st and 33rd. I,chose this one as I saw many people there. After ordering the pho, I noticed many customers ordering the steamed dumplings. So next time.... Excellent food and service.

We have driven by here many times and finally decided to try. I ordered the bun bo Huế spicy noodle soup and it did not disappoint. There were a lot of different meats included and the spiciness was perfectly flavoured. I will definitely be back for it again and will try other dishes that looked just as good.

I visited Hoi A Cafe and tried the Hu Tieu Bo Kho for the 1st time and it did not disappointed at all. The soup based is very good and bold and the beef is balanced and tasty. I would recommend every one to try this over pho beef.

Great food and fast service. All the noodles came out fresh and they were pretty good. I got to try #10 Com Suon Cha Hap (Grilled Lemongrass pork Chop with Meatloaf on rice) was pretty good. Pork chop was full of flavour and the meat was tender. There was so much meat for my food. I also recommend #6 Mi Quang (rice noodle with pork and shrimp) as well. It was quite tasty and the crackers were yummy too. Waitress told me #6 is a popular dish so I highly recommend this dish. I really enjoyed my iced coffee too. Everything was perfect on my recent visit.

Lemon grass pork and meatloaf on rice

Their pho broth is sweeter than other places. Not bad. I tried their lemon grass pork with meatloaf on rice. The pork was really well marinated. I'm not sure what makes it orangy. It was delicious. The meatloaf was pork, vermicelli, and bits and pieces of other things (maybe carrot and mushroom). It was okay but not my type of food. The sauce was also delicious, a little on the sweeter side. Overall it was a great dish. The best part of this restaurant is their banh bot loc. Not many restaurants have it on their menu and when they do, it isnt that good. This place has it pricey but it's really good. They have a Hoi An style noodles section and I see people talking about the Mi Quang - something to try next.

    Banh Beo!
    Lynn L.

If you want something different than your regular pho, come here for some good comfort Central Vietnamese food. Our favorites are, banh beo, Mi Quang and banh bot loc. Mi Quang - Is a noodle dish that's meant to be eaten semi-dry, it has broth on the bottom but not as much as a noodle in soup. Delicious toppings of pork, shrimp, green onions and peanuts and a crispy rice cake. Put the veggies and a squeeze of lime from the plate they serve you on the side to balance it all out. Yum! Banh beo, ok I've yet to find a better place that makes these. Their toppings are very different then you'd find anywhere else. The rice cake is steamed right on to the little plates then the topping. To be eaten with a spoon then dipped in the fish sauce. Soooo good!!! Banh Bot Loc - Chewy and delicious! Check them out!!

Cute little pho place in the heart of Victoria drive. We both got the house special pho And it hit all in the right places. Meat was tender Soup base was just like home. I'm very picky with pho. And this mom and pop place has made it to my list. It was really busy when we got there, but it was just the end of that rush.

If you wanted to argue that most pho places taste the same, I would totally hear you out on that argument. Then I would bring you to Hoi An Cafe. This is a place where the food stands out and is awesome. I would say one of the advantages is that this place is a bit more spacious than other pho places. Not as high volume at lunch time I have found. Prices are also quite affordable to show up and just have that one bowl of pho. My favourite dish from here so far is the Bún bò Hu. I dig having the pork blood and feet a lot more than I would have thought. I also like having a few of those delicious slices of beef included. It's also not as spicy as I would have thought of from a broth. It's just right for me and I appreciate how it doesn't overwhelm in terms of spice. I love the spring rolls here as well. Super solid. Can't go wrong by stopping at Hoi An Cafe for a meal. Definitely one of those places I very much look forward to visiting.

Arguably the tastiest and best Vietnamese eatery in the whole Lower Mainland. And my wife is Vietnamese and is used to food in Southern California's little Saigon so she recommends this place too . They make things as authentic as the old country using traditional methods of making each dish. It shows in the wonderful quality of the flavor and heartiness of the meals. Bun Bo Hue is especially top notch. The service always excellent despite the fact they are usually very busy.

Had a brightness to it yet also very, very spicy. Tastes great on many of the dishes, especially if you wanted a nice "kick" to the food. I believe you can order a jar to take home if you wish.

The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

Ordered Green Papaya Salad ($12), Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli with one spring roll ($17), one lime soda ($6.50) and one pop ($3). Food arrived within minutes of ordering. Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. The Garden Rolls were absolutely the #1 worst ones we've ever eaten! We've had hundreds of fresh rolls at dozens of places and sadly, none were as tasteless as these. They consisted of noodles, a bit of flavorless tofu and cucumber. Fresh rolls MUST have at least one or more of the following: fresh mint, fresh cilantro or fresh Thai Basil. Hestia's had NONE!. To add insult to injury, the watery sauce also had NO flavor. To add more insult, they were baggy and poorly wrapped and the innards kept falling out. Not fun and definitely not good. The king oyster mushrooms were very good, but there was a ton of pink mayo dousing it. I would have preferred the sauce be in a separate bowl so we could choose how much dipping we'd like to do. The saffron tofu bowl was sensational! Perfectly spiced and full of a huge variety of well-cooked veggies plus the saffron rice was good too. No one came during our meal to ask if we needed anything or to ask how our meal was. The customer service is in need of some work.
