You NEED to get here either when they open their doors or place your order by phone for pick up. This place was insane busy when I went during lunch, to pick up my phone order. Small spot and loud with excitement. I was informed to definitely try this place out and today was that day. The parking lot was packed, once I approached the location there are signs instructing to pay for food inside at the window and then return back outside to the "pick up" window for you me order. From the small window I could see the bar area also. The portions here are fairly decent and well prepared. Loved their bbq baked beans! Hobos catfish is TOP NOTCH! If that wasn't enough for you, their sides are outstanding. The slaw and broccoli salads are binge worthy. Service always comes with a smile and the turnaround time is always great. It is a fun bar atmosphere with outdoor seating. Always packed with fun people but the wait is never long. read more

Local staple that is known for its great food. People travel far and wide to try the pork steak, or the famous fried chicken. This visit I opted for the farm raised catfish dinner; it did not disappoint. Perfectly seasoned and breaded, deep-fried, comes with two sides. Mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans for me. Rest of the family had the fried chicken, which they have had numerous times before, but we're disappointed tonight. Chicken was cold and soggy, as if they were pre-making big batches in anticipation of a big crowd. Regardless, they've been there contactless times before and had good experiences. Hobo's at the American Legion in St. Peter's, MO has the regions absolutely best Fried Chicken voted number one, not only once but twice by the Mother Cluckers Chicken Club. Go ahead and try other places, you'll be back time and time again. The 1/2 fried chicken is seasoned very well, a nice golden color, juicy, crispy, and served with incredible sides. Their ribs were delicious, shrimp wrap was excellent and fried chicken was ok (a bit dry), fried chicken Caesar wrap was ok (need more chicken pieces and less shredded cheese), 8oz steak pieces varies (mine was not hot and could use a bit more salt), and the fish sandwich was delicious (big thick crunchy piece of fish & you could customize what you want inside). We'd come back the next time to try their salad, reorder shrimp wrap & fish sandwich! Tip for seating: go straight toward the back hallway and sign in your party name. -get a menu white you're waiting in line, this will help to facilitate ordering. We ADORE Hobos. We eat there often. We have purchased chicken in bulk for events, and it's always top notch. This time we thought we'd try to add some Pasta con broccoli to our large chicken order. I have to say it's the first thing from Hobos that was not good. It was tasteless It had virtually no seasoning. So disappointed. Honestly, there isn't a bad item on the menu, but anything with a whimsical name is worthy of extra attention. Always reliable. Always delicious. Best fried chicken in town. Definitely try their wings and the fried pickles. Pizza is hearty and filling. My personal favorite is the Freddy Freeloader, which is a pork tenderloin sandwich you have to see to believe. You can get it grilled or fried. I highly recommend getting the chipotle Mayo to put on that as well. Always great to try their various fried fish options as well. Only critique is I think they could improve their burgers. Talk about AN Amazing Place parked in the Bottom Deck of the American Legion Hall. They seem to ALWAYS run a 1 to 2 Hour Wait (and That only if you are Cognizant enough to have called them within Minutes of Their Opening for the Day). All for the Very Good Reason they make an Amazing Fried Chicken Skillet Fried in the Lightest of Batters and Cooked to Perfection. Highly Recommend the "Half a Cluck" which brings you a Wing a Breast a Thigh and a Leg and a Couple of Sides (try their Mashed Potatoes with Gravy) and I can Vouch for their Potato Salad. Sure wish they could Expand their Building in St Peters (without Losing their ambience which would be a Hard Trick to Pull Off). We tried them out last Saturday, ended up back Sunday, and again today! The food is great and an amazing value! Their fried chicken, fish nuggets, fried pickles, ribs are all great. This is still my favorite place to eat but have been disappointed lately. Three times in a row now that I've ordered a catfish nugget appetizer to take home it's only been 10-12 ounces of fish when I weigh it but it's suppose to be 20 ounces. I love Hobos - the atmosphere is casual and welcoming. No pretentiousness here! No reservations and the sign up and table waiting line is a little confusing at first, but it's a good place to make friends and talk about the menu and get recommendations. The menu is huge and everything is delicious. Big portions and cold beer - what more could you want? I had the bbq pork steak and baked beans. Wonderful. The fried chicken is crispy and juicy. My only disappointment was the one time I ordered the catfish. It was a filet instead of nuggets, but I can handle that. And I'll get it again. Service is fast, efficient and friendly. The line can be a little long but it moves fast and it's worth the wait. You gotta go. I promise your first time won't be the last. read more

I'm a fried chicken connoisseur and I've had 15 people tell me to try this place. I finally did. Liked it so much I came again a few days later. It rocks! Great flavor. Both times the flavor was not consistent but that to me just means it's hand breaded each and everytime. I loved it both times. Once there was a little kick to it and the other time it wasn't. Finally tried this place in Saint Peters. I went on a Friday evening which is was packed. We ended up grabbing a seat at the bar. I order catfish nugget plate with baked beans and cole slaw. The nuggets were flavorful and crispy. My husband order the catfish fillet with fries which he enjoyed as well. My husband enjoyed the tequila sunrise, which were too strong for me!
