Recently visited Goodwood Brewing and overall the experience was pretty average. The ambiance was fine, but nothing particularly memorable -- it felt like a standard bar/pub setting without much that really stood out. The food was also typical bar or pub fare. It wasn't bad by any means, but nothing we tried really stood out as excellent or memorable either. Everything was just okay. Service and atmosphere were acceptable, but the overall experience didn't leave much of an impression. It's the kind of place that works if you happen to be nearby and want a casual bite or drink, but it's not somewhere we'd actively seek out or go out of our way to visit again. Not a single dish was bad and atmosphere was wonderful. We got buffalo dip and chicken wings. Dip was freaking to died for like rotel dip like just way more chips then dip sadly. We got ten wings half medium hot n other half extra hot. Loved that they r tossed. Then for dinner we got the New York steak and chicken wrap. New York had this Cajun melted steak better was mouth watering with mashed potatoes. Bf got wrap with Cajun fries. I got the blood orange margaritas it was refreshingly mild n small but great. We ordered my dad drunken chicken sandwich which he ate every bite of. Plenty or seating inside n out. Three bars and a lot of TVs n fans. Covered back area with two water fountains with fish. Had a great lunch on the patio with a friend after picking up my wedding dress from Cleo Bridal down the street! Our server, Isaac, was awesome. Had a hard time deciding what to get, but ended up with the fish & chips which were great. Will have to come back to the more of the menu! read more

Go for the patio! Loved the ambiance of this patio with a variety of bar seating, covered seating, umbrella seating and your average patio selection. The fountain and flowers made this a very enjoyable and relaxing patio. Our server did not rush us and even told us to feel free to hang out after our meal. Cocktails were good! They make a solid old fashioned. Did not try the beer but would love to try the sour! Started with the pickle chips, they were just okay. Nothing special. Food was elevated bar food. The sandwiches were massive and my shrimp was tasty! The burger was so large it was hard to eat so honestly didn't get the full effect of everything in one bite. 1000% enjoyed dinner here! I miss the old McGurk's and I was so happy to see they've kept the beautiful patio intact. The menu is creative and features some unique twists on things you've seen on other menus. Our server was amazing - very good service and she had some good recommendations at the ready. She knew the menu, which is always a good sign. I got the drunken chicken sandwich which was really really good! The bacon jam and beer cheese made for a gooey but delicious compliment to a nicely grilled chicken breast. But the real star was the cheese grits! If all you know of cheese grits is the soupy or gummy mess most restaurants serve, let me set the record straight: Goodwood does cheese grits justice! These are delicious. Upon arriving around lunch time during the weekend, surprisingly the crowd wasn't overwhelming and I was greeted and seated by friendly staff immediately, the bar area and dining area were spacious and well lit, there was also a spacious patio for guests, I ordered bacon beer cheese fries, pickle fries, the Waylon burger with a side of grits, the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of fries, the brisket brewery chili with grilled cheese, and a house stout, there were a few minor errors on order modifications and delays on drink orders, but overall everything came out great. The beer cheese was fantastic and paired well with their crispy fries, the pickle fries were fantastic, and the presentation, and preparation, preserved the crunch and flavor of a nice dill pickle in a unique form, the burger was nice and juicy, and along with the brisket topping the burger, the Waylon had a nice extra layer of complexity, the fried onions were crispy and well seasoned, the grits were perfectly fluffy and balanced, the chicken sandwich was a little over sauced with ranch; taking away from the spice of the buffalo sauce, the brisket chili was cumin forward, and the brisket added a nice smoky flavor, and the grilled cheese was a solid complement to the chili, the stout was rich and full of flavor, overall the experience was pleasant and there was a warm atmosphere upon visiting, the staff was friendly, the food fantastic, and I would recommend trying their chili and pickle fries for a nice spin in some classics. read more

We came here for the first time a few months ago after signing a contract on a home near by in hopes it would become our new "to go" when we move. We loved it then and loved it this second time! They have wonderful game-day specials and the ability to make reservations is also a plus! Located in the old McGurks, the places itself is pretty spacious with the main dining room housing it's tall ceilings. We cant wait to try more menu items as we continue to visit again and again because we have yet to find one that disappoints! read more

I lived in Louisville, KY for about 8 years which is where this restaurant started, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw they were opening a spot in my new town (their first outside of KY)! They have a wonderful draft beer list, a favorite of mine is Goodwood Blood Orange Blonde. It is similar to a Blue Moon and is very refreshing! I ordered the Drunken Pig with tots (add the truffle seasoning), they also offer a Drunken Chicken which is just a chicken patty instead of a beef patty! It's so good and so filling. We also tried their chicken tenders, they were battered and fried very well. I recommend the Goodwood dipping sauce to go with! I can't wait for warmer weather so I can enjoy their patio. An added perk is that they are pet friendly on their patio and they have live music occasionally! read more

Food gets 4 stars but it should be better for the price. Especially appetizers. Large Pretzel $13. Beverages are high priced and since when do you pay extra for garnish on a drink. Come on $2 for Tajin on the rim of a Bloody Mary. Service was 3 stars and atmosphere maybe 4 stars. We've had a group get together here four times and have always been pleased but the prices are driving us away. read more

Awesome new spot!!!! In the old Mcgurks location. Stopped in for dinner tonight and sat on the patio. The menu here looks amazing with lots of options: salads, sandwiches, steaks, lots of apps, a few desserts and a great drink menu. Everything on their menu seemed to have a fun twist. The service was wonderful during our time! We got the Bavarian pretzel for an app and wow it was huge. It comes with beer cheese and mustard and this could easily feed 4. My husband and I split it. It's probably 2-3 times the size of a normal pretzel. For entrees, we had the fish and chips and chicken and waffles and both were perfectly cooked and came out promptly. Both portions were perfect! The chicken and waffles had a spicy honey type of syrup and came with honey butter as well. Would love to see regular syrup as an option for us folks who wince at a tiny bit of spice ;) The fish and chips came with cole slaw and an amazing tartar sauce. Both the chicken and fish were super crispy and delicious! There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try like the chili and brisket grilled cheese as well as the BLT and drunken chicken sammy. It all sounded excellent. Goodwood is a brewery and restaurant chain from Kentucky. When they arrived in the old McGurks location in old town O' Fallon we were excited to see what they brought to the table. Originally we were very excited. This location has one of the best patios in town, maybe even the county, and they were offering a great selection of original craft beers! The appetizers were the stars of the edible show! The Fried Green Tomatoes and the Buffalo Cauliflower were exceptional! Any time we brought someone new, they had to try the tomatoes and the cauliflower, and they were never disappointed! This was our patio hotspot last summer! Unfortunately the curse of The Chain started to spread and as the year went on they became less busy, removed several of their in house beers, replacing them with more domestics, and totally changed the menu. No more Buffalo Cauliflower for you! The patio is still worth checking out but the food and lack of quality craft beers leaves this place feeling like just another Bar and Grill. read more

I know many were waiting the opening of this restaurant. I wish I could give it more than three stars, but not today. They specialize with their variety of whiskies. The old fashioned was decent, but the second whisky drink we could not even finish. The combination of ingredients did not work well together. Our server did ok. She was friendly, but I think she was overwhelmed. We enjoyed the loaded tots, but the fried green tomatoes needed seasoning and the fries were cold. The atmosphere was the best. Very descent price $12 and food was good! Also enjoyed the huge pretzel. Kids grilled cheese on texas toast (it.is.huge). A few folks in the party had beer and margs - they enjoyed them. Apparently they have been open only a few days but you couldn't tell. Service was smooth as silk. Caitlin was super fun and attentive! We will be asking for her by name next time. Fried green tomatoes were hot and crispy and delicious! Sliders had great flavor, good char and still juicy. Bougie BLT had a lot going on, it was pretty good. It could use more bacon, though. Beignets were just ok. I'm not sure what the inside is supposed to be like, but today they were fairly fluid, like thin mashed sweet potatoes. For those that miss McGurk's, go check this place out. Great atmosphere and great service. The extreme stout wings are my favorite in the St. Louis area. Not for the weak.

We sat on the patio and enjoyed the little fountain and koi pond. Waitress was extremely friendly. The reason for 3 stars is the food unfortunately. I ordered no onions and a gluten free bun for my burger. The burger was covered in onions (I truly think they gave me extra!) and the bun didn't look gluten free (I've been gf for a while and the bread looks different). I'm not a complainer so I just ate the inside of the burger. I also ordered "seasoned" broccoli and received completely unseasoned and barely steamed broccoli. My kids ordered grilled cheese and fries and didn't like or eat any of their food. My aunt and two cousins were also there and my aunt did say the salad was good! I just think they must be new and are still working out the kinks. If you will take my advice, when someone orders with modifications due to allergies or sensitivities, the waitress/waiter who was taking the order should confirm with the chef that it's safe, then you should be the one to bring it out to the table and again assure the guest that it's safe to eat. A lot of restaurants use special little sticks with gluten free tags or a red tag to show that they know this dish is allergen friendly. Having someone else bring out my food and it not being right (onions) made me lose all faith in the bun! I would give this place another chance though! read more

For some reason we were seated in a weird back side room that felt more like a reception area not part of the restaurant, think this helped take the ambiance down a notch as you didn't really feel a part of the facility or experience. Nice patio area with its own outside bar if weather permits Fried free tomorrows were good but cut very thick so they were a bit tough. Burger and tots were good but tots were almost a little over seasoned. Friend enjoyed their salad and catfish dinners. We were happy to see that another business had opened here after the last restaurant didn't reopen after Covid-19 shutdown. We looked forward to enjoying the beautiful patio here again, and when our daughter and son in law suggested going here to celebrate their 6th wedding anniversary dinner with us, we were in. I wish I could recommend this place, but in good conscience, I cannot. We arrived at 5:30 and the rest of our party was there witching a few minutes. It started great and our drink orders were placed while we looked over the menu and game day specials. Many of our table of 7 thought the wing special looked good while others chose from the standard menu. Order placed and we chatted as people do while awaiting our dinner. About 20 minutes after we placed our order, we were informed that they were out of wings. It happens, so we were given menus and we ordered something else. 10- 15 minutes later, they asked us about the other people at our table, if they were wanting to order as well. Since their order was not wings, why wasn't their order left as is? So we re- ordered their original food choices. We were sitting on the patio, and had figured that we would be done before the sun went down, so we were not really prepared for the temperature drop with the setting sun. Dinner finally arrived, but by then, we had been there for well over an hour and twenty minutes. They had a few tables, but nothing overwhelming. So for a table of seven, six adults and an 11 year old our dining experience took over 2 hours. My buffalo chicken sandwich was good. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. My wife's Kale and strawberry salad was less than appetizing, so much so, she ate 1/2 of my meal while leaving hers virtually untouched. This was not noticed by the staff since they didn't ask why her plate was still almost full at the end of the meal. I am not one to look for a reason to complain only to look for some sort of a discount, but with all of the trouble with the simple act of placing the order here, I think a simple apology for the service was the least that could have offered. I wish them well, I hope that no one else has a similar experience, but for us, we won't be back. read more
