Bavarian Pretzel

First visit, was pleased with service and food. Restaurant appeared clean and loved the historical building.

Beautiful patio space!

1000% enjoyed dinner here! I miss the old McGurk's and I was so happy to see they've kept the beautiful patio intact. The menu is creative and features some unique twists on things you've seen on other menus. Our server was amazing - very good service and she had some good recommendations at the ready. She knew the menu, which is always a good sign. I got the drunken chicken sandwich which was really really good! The bacon jam and beer cheese made for a gooey but delicious compliment to a nicely grilled chicken breast. But the real star was the cheese grits! If all you know of cheese grits is the soupy or gummy mess most restaurants serve, let me set the record straight: Goodwood does cheese grits justice! These are delicious. I tried to get the recipe but no one wanted to share. Boo! I guess I'll have to come back again.

We came here for the first time a few months ago after signing a contract on a home near by in hopes it would become our new "to go" when we move. We loved it then and loved it this second time! They have wonderful game-day specials and the ability to make reservations is also a plus! Located in the old McGurks, the places itself is pretty spacious with the main dining room housing it's tall ceilings. We cant wait to try more menu items as we continue to visit again and again because we have yet to find one that disappoints!

CHEESY GRITS

Upon arriving around lunch time during the weekend, surprisingly the crowd wasn't overwhelming and I was greeted and seated by friendly staff immediately, the bar area and dining area were spacious and well lit, there was also a spacious patio for guests, I ordered bacon beer cheese fries, pickle fries, the Waylon burger with a side of grits, the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of fries, the brisket brewery chili with grilled cheese, and a house stout, there were a few minor errors on order modifications and delays on drink orders, but overall everything came out great. The beer cheese was fantastic and paired well with their crispy fries, the pickle fries were fantastic, and the presentation, and preparation, preserved the crunch and flavor of a nice dill pickle in a unique form, the burger was nice and juicy, and along with the brisket topping the burger, the Waylon had a nice extra layer of complexity, the fried onions were crispy and well seasoned, the grits were perfectly fluffy and balanced, the chicken sandwich was a little over sauced with ranch; taking away from the spice of the buffalo sauce, the brisket chili was cumin forward, and the brisket added a nice smoky flavor, and the grilled cheese was a solid complement to the chili, the stout was rich and full of flavor, overall the experience was pleasant and there was a warm atmosphere upon visiting, the staff was friendly, the food fantastic, and I would recommend trying their chili and pickle fries for a nice spin in some classics.

I lived in Louisville, KY for about 8 years which is where this restaurant started, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw they were opening a spot in my new town (their first outside of KY)! They have a wonderful draft beer list, a favorite of mine is Goodwood Blood Orange Blonde. It is similar to a Blue Moon and is very refreshing! I ordered the Drunken Pig with tots (add the truffle seasoning), they also offer a Drunken Chicken which is just a chicken patty instead of a beef patty! It's so good and so filling. We also tried their chicken tenders, they were battered and fried very well. I recommend the Goodwood dipping sauce to go with! I can't wait for warmer weather so I can enjoy their patio. An added perk is that they are pet friendly on their patio and they have live music occasionally!

Awesome new spot!!!! In the old Mcgurks location. Stopped in for dinner tonight and sat on the patio. The menu here looks amazing with lots of options: salads, sandwiches, steaks, lots of apps, a few desserts and a great drink menu. Everything on their menu seemed to have a fun twist. The service was wonderful during our time! We got the Bavarian pretzel for an app and wow it was huge. It comes with beer cheese and mustard and this could easily feed 4. My husband and I split it. It's probably 2-3 times the size of a normal pretzel. For entrees, we had the fish and chips and chicken and waffles and both were perfectly cooked and came out promptly. Both portions were perfect! The chicken and waffles had a spicy honey type of syrup and came with honey butter as well. Would love to see regular syrup as an option for us folks who wince at a tiny bit of spice ;) The fish and chips came with cole slaw and an amazing tartar sauce. Both the chicken and fish were super crispy and delicious! There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try like the chili and brisket grilled cheese as well as the BLT and drunken chicken sammy. It all sounded excellent. This place was fantastic 10/10- I'll be back soon!!

The salmon and brisket grilled cheese

This restaurant is so darn delicious! The food, drinks and staff have been awesome every time I visited. Highly recommend if you're in O'Fallon or simply passing through on Highway 70.

Love that they kept the McGurks vibe and ambience alive in this iconic building. Establishment was clean, elegant and cozy. Great staff. Food was excellent!

Goodwood is a brewery and restaurant chain from Kentucky. When they arrived in the old McGurks location in old town O' Fallon we were excited to see what they brought to the table. Originally we were very excited. This location has one of the best patios in town, maybe even the county, and they were offering a great selection of original craft beers! The appetizers were the stars of the edible show! The Fried Green Tomatoes and the Buffalo Cauliflower were exceptional! Any time we brought someone new, they had to try the tomatoes and the cauliflower, and they were never disappointed! This was our patio hotspot last summer! Unfortunately the curse of The Chain started to spread and as the year went on they became less busy, removed several of their in house beers, replacing them with more domestics, and totally changed the menu. No more Buffalo Cauliflower for you! The patio is still worth checking out but the food and lack of quality craft beers leaves this place feeling like just another Bar and Grill.

Visited Goodwood for the first time since they opened. We had heard not so great things, but wanted to try it out anyways. Patio landscaping and atmosphere was great, would be great for drinks and live music. The inside was a little boring, but way bigger than expected. Service was slow. The place is pretty big, but it wasn't really that busy. The food was okay, pretty large menu with a variety of things. - chicken and waffles - buffalo chicken sandwich - kale Caesar salad - pulled pork sandwich If I go back, I would try a burger!

American burger with black Bean patty and tots. Lunch Special
Jamie P.

We enjoyed our lunch. Ordered from lunch special menu. American burger and subbed beef for black bean, sorry I'm a vegetarian girly. Opted for the tater tots. Very descent price $12 and food was good! Also enjoyed the huge pretzel. Kids grilled cheese on texas toast (it.is.huge). A few folks in the party had beer and margs - they enjoyed them. Nice patio, insides, and two bars, inside and outside. We beat the St. Pattys rush. Nice staff!

We got two pizzas. A barbecue chicken pizzas and the vampire death wish pizza. They were both really good and we loved the crust. Personally preferred the vampire death wish pizza which had a great cheesy garlic taste. We also got four different beers to try. they were all super unique. Our waitress was super attentive and sweet. She helped answer a lot of our questions and knew a lot about the beers. The selection of beer was pretty big and covered a large variety of beer. They even have distill spirits as well. So no matter what you're in the mood for, they will have it covered. We've visited both this location and the former downtown location countless times, enjoying not just the beer and food, but the wonderful, relaxed, family friendly atmosphere. Some of our favorite memories here involve a lively outdoor space filled with families, children playing, dogs, great beer, good food, and people simply enjoying themselves. It always reminded me of the joyful, welcoming atmosphere of a European beer garden. One of the things we've always loved is recommending Friendship Brewery to friends and family. It's been one of those special places we genuinely enjoyed sharing with others. We've even celebrated multiple holidays here, including Mother's Day, because it always felt like the perfect place to bring everyone together and enjoy a wonderful afternoon. Unfortunately, our most recent visit left us feeling very differently. As we were heading outside, the manager approached us to explain the new rules. We were told our children must remain at our table. When we planned to sit under the tent, she recommended that we sit farther away. She also asked whether we'd heard that other breweries in Missouri were beginning to impose curfews on children. There weren't even any other families outside at the time. There were also two large signs reminding parents to supervise their children and keep them out of the parking lot. Those expectations are completely reasonable. What felt surprisingly unwelcoming was being personally stopped and told that our children needed to remain at our table. The manager explained that there had apparently been incidents involving children in the parking lot and even climbing on top of shipping containers. Those are legitimate safety concerns, and I fully support addressing them. Children should absolutely be supervised and kept away from dangerous areas. But requiring children to remain at their tables instead of enjoying the spacious outdoor beer garden feels like an unfortunate overcorrection. One of the things that made Friendship Brewery so special was watching families enjoy that large outdoor space together, with children playing soccer, making friends, running around, and simply being kids. Parents could relax, enjoy a beer and some food, and watch their children have fun. It's a brewery beer garden, not a traditional sit-down restaurant where everyone is expected to remain at their table. That distinction is a big part of what made this place such a wonderful experience for families. I've been fortunate to visit breweries all over the world, and one of the things I love most about brewery culture is how welcoming it can be to families and dogs alike. That relaxed, communal atmosphere is what makes a brewery special. When the experience becomes dominated by restrictions and reminders of rules, so much of that magic disappears. I completely understand the need for reasonable expectations and respectful behavior. But there's a difference between maintaining a welcoming environment and making longtime customers feel like their families are an inconvenience. What makes this especially disappointing is remembering how many times we've been here when the place was full of families, kids, and dogs, with everyone having a wonderful time. That was the Friendship Brewery we loved and kept coming back to. Sadly, after today's interaction, that sense of friendship and belonging feels lost. We still appreciate the beer and food, but the atmosphere that made this place so special to us feels like it has changed. I truly hope Friendship Brewery reconsiders how these policies are communicated and remembers the warm, welcoming beer garden atmosphere that made so many of us fall in love with it in the first place.

I got there early, grabbed a beer, and set up my laptop to knock out a few end-of-day emails. The taproom is relaxed enough that working for a bit doesn't feel out of place, and once the inbox was under control, it was time to switch gears. An hour with a pocket full of quarters goes fast here. The mix of classic arcade cabinets and pinball machines is a fun throwback, even if my Donkey Kong skills are exactly as terrible as they were in the 90s. Still, it's hard not to enjoy yourself when you're bounding between games with a beer nearby and the whole place buzzing with that low-key arcade energy. When the quarters finally ran out and the beer glass went dry, that was my cue to move on but it was still a genuinely fun stop. Easygoing, nostalgic, and a good way to unwind after a long day. Lines are clean and cared for, and beer selection is clearly curated by someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about craft beer. They are also a brewery and generally have several of their own beers on tap. They do multiple size options at good prices, so you can really take advantage of a nice day out doing some tastings. They also have some canned / bottled beer and do crowler fills. Bar: it's a brewery. Bar is limited. There are a few good liquors available, mostly whiskey and bourbon, with some ciders, seltzers, and possibly a wine or two available. This isn't the place to get a mimosa or a Bloody Mary. It's a brewery. Food: again, they're a brewery, not a gastropub, and do not have a full kitchen. Food is limited to Friday and Saturday (I believe), but is surprisingly good and reasonably priced. Owner seems to continually try to improve selections, and on Fridays during lent has started doing Fish Frys (which were exceptionally good!). If you go in expecting bar-snack type food, you won't be disappointed. There are full restaurants within walking distance.
