I needed a frame for a large oil painting. The 'framing dept staff' were simply excellent in their suggestions and recommendations. They also sought out the room size and furnishings to ensure a cohesive finished product. The staff had a number of ideas with respect to the frame and inner border. I was called 1 day earlier than promised delivery date AND they inspected the finished product with me to ensure my satisfaction. Final result . . . I'll be going back. Not sure I will be wasting more money and time at this hobby lobby, I would rather travel to another city. Purchased a decorative plate that ended up being chipped. All I wanted was to simply return it. Unfortunately, I was unable to take it myself so my husband offered to take it back for me. The customer service he received was extremely poor the cashier gave him attitude for not having my credit card it was purchased on. There was no need for her to take out her frustration on him for her having to give him cash instead of putting it back on the card. Work on your customer service and attitudes. read more

I love the store for its selection of many different items, I,however, dislike (very close to hate) the manager. I came in on a weekday and was the second person in line out of ten. There was only register open and when I look around I saw the manager look over at how long the line was. Guess what he decided to do? Nothing. He continued talking to two employees, who were on the clock because they were sorting items, and acted as if it was okay. We were all very annoyed because we had been waiting at least ten minutes for the line to move. What pissed me off was the lady who was in front of me, who happened to be an older Caucasian lady, needed help putting her purchases in her car so the cashier called the manager over and he went over to help her. Nope it didn't bother him to tell his other employees to open another register or call for the backup register. The nice employee gals at this brand new Hobby Lobby informed me, it's only been open two days. That explains the frenetic crazed throngs of women shopping here, doubling up shopping carts, blocking isles pretending they did not see me and not moving their carts to let me pass (don't you hate that? Me too!!!). OK, there were some sales with the new store opening so you know how nutty some women get over sales. But, nice to check out a new craft store besides Michael's. OK, here is my professional shopping experience opinion: The Pros: Nice large store, about the same volume over-all as Michael's, with a bit of Wal Mart home decor thrown in. The staff was very nice because they have only been working here two days. A fairly good general craft and art etc selection (but not more than Michael's) The Cons: Expensive! Wow that was disappointing. I buy scrapbook/journaling/art stuff and have shopped all the Michael's in a 30 square mile area in the Inland Empire, and it looks like Hobby Lobby decided to tack on an extra 1 -to- 5 dollars for every item you can get for less at Michael's. Bummer!!! Much like each Michael's, they had a mix of the brands that are popular. Very few choices in actual journaling/scrapbooks. Less choices, higher prices. I mean, for example, $3.99 for some string - Just cards with a little string wrapped around it to tie to tags. Wow. Steep. And $3.99 for some colored paper clips? I saw similar for $1.99 in the office supply area in the SAME STORE. Ugh. Just higher priced than Michael's on everything. NO signs or isle numbers anywhere, so you have no clue where anything is. The staff is friendly and pointed me in the right direction, but once the "new store" wears off, there won't be as many staff. That sucked. I do not want to hike around and around a big store to find my gimcracks. I already had to navigate the 91 fwy in hot afternoon traffic, I want to find my goodies right away. So, check it out, it's something new if you have never been, but take your cute crafting self over to Michael's for a better selection and price. read more

Decent selection, but employees are oftentimes clueless. I recently went to this Hobby Lobby in search of some unfinished wood for an upcoming craft. Thankfully, there was a decent selection of wood and acrylic paints, but I felt I needed some kind of primer. I asked three employees where I might find some primer for unfinished wood and each of them was confused. On my own, I came across some acrylic gesso, which would have worked (based on my subsequent Internet research), but when I asked an employee that specific question, her response was, 'I don't even know what gesso is.' I don't blame her; these products are very specialized for artists, hobbyists, etc. Nonetheless, one would think that Hobby Lobby would employ at least a few people knowledgeable about crafts to assist with these types of questions. Sadly, the three employees I met seemed quite disinterested in crafts altogether. They were nice and courteous, but the knowledge just wasn't there. It felt like being at a Home Depot in which all of the employees were more into fashion than home improvement. This store would really benefit from getting some experts, offering classes, and sharing the knowledge of crafts with its customers. After all, the more we learn, the more incentive we have to come back and buy again. As for me, now that I have learned from Google that acrylic gesso will work for my project, I will simply order it from Amazon. read more

This store has a lot of cool arts and crafts for anyone with any hobby. Some of the stuff they have I cannot find at other stores and they have some really cool items. the only thing I don't like is the long wait in the lines due to manually entering every single items. It is very inconvenient especially when there's tons of people. The prices are usually double that of a regular store hence why they always have their so called "sales" to make it seem like they are getting a good deal when actually they are just getting it for normal prices other stores would sell them for. Hobby Lobby is a crafter's haven and then some! This place is a HUGE one stop shop. The first time I ever went to this Hobby Lobby, I went in to buy tape and left with over $100 worth of stuff lol. I'm not lying about how huge this place is and I could probably spend hours going through each section. You can find everything from paper goods, party supplies, painting, textiles, home decor, toys, and more. I love that they have a big holiday section with a great selection of Thanksgiving and Christmas decor. Customer service at this specific location is pretty good. I frequent this place a lot and everyone is helpful and friendly. I've NEVER had a bad experience. The only thing I wish they would do is get a better point of sale system. It looks like they have to punch in everything manually and they literally have a million different products in their store so sometimes the lines can get long due to that reason. I feel like it makes them less efficient than they could be. Recommendations when shopping: 1. There are always different sales every week and they often rotate what's on sale so check with the weekly ad for more savings. 2. They offer a 40% off coupon every week for one regular priced item which you can find on their online website and you can give the code to the cashier at checkout. 3. Happy shopping!!! read more

This is the best hobby store on the planet! By the name of the store, I assumed model car and airplane kits. Maybe they did carry those, but I didn't bother to look. The store is gigantic. I passed it twice because I was looking for a little whole in the wall. I came into Hobby Lobby only to see if they carried something particular I was looking for for a baby shower. Funny thing is I completely forgot what that particular something was, once the automatic gates opened up to Hobby Heaven (that is my new nickname for the store). I think I may have heard trumpets, as my first foot touched down. They had EVERYTHING, especially for those DIYers for decorating your home, backyard, wedding, or any kind of party. I loved how many of the items were nicely organized by product, such as floral supplies, wedding accessories, fabric and ribbon, frames, art supplies, kid's crafts, children's room accessories, woodcrafts, party supplies, scrapbooking, garden, outdoor entertaining, etc. Much of the product was even broken down by color or theme and there were many staff members on the floor, ensuring the store kept clean and organized. What was supposed to be a quick look turned into a 4-hour adventure and over $100 out of my pocket. My fiancé even texted me to check if I was OK. Visited with my 2 boys and they loved the selection of model kits, rockets, toys, action figures (dinosaurs, pirates: arrgh!), art supplies, candy, science project kits, and so much more. Hobby Lobby is a good store to get a lot of project products under one roof. I've been shopping at this location for several years and I've notice, more than enough times, that most of the Managers have a poor attitude towards their customers. They're not the friendliest people to interact with and really not Christian like to use a negative, higher superiority tone. I understand that some customers can be a challenge to deal with, but you're in a service provider business. Learn to speak to all of your customers as if you value their business and appreciate the customer in choosing to shop at your store and not at your competitors stores. So we picked out some burlap ribbon and wanted to get some flowers and other rustic items to put on it. I asked an employee (Roberta) where certain items were. She took me to every single isle that corresponded to what I was looking for. She was very informative about what the store had to offer. I was really impressed with her as an employee! I wish you could give zero stars for the customer service and the way I was treated about 5 minutes ago. I own an online e-commerce business and came into Hobby Lobby as I normally do to buy materials for my projects hence I use my wholesalers card, etc. As I'm in the bead/jewel section, I noticed a customer continued to stare at me with a disgust look and just figured she had a problem with me being a heavily tattooed woman. As I'm putting stuff into my cart, I notice her peeking from the corner of the aisle to see if I was stealing. I laughed it off because typical of the human race to judge someone off their looks. Well now it's becoming annoying because she's following me around and I know she isn't loss prevention because I've worked several years as a loss prevention agent and pretty much know the procedures and actions like the back of my tattooed hand! I continue studying at different beads I need and hear this same customer tell an employee that she watched me steal. Suddenly I have two managers doing "inventory" in the aisle I'm in and asked if I needed help. I kindly declined but extremely pissed off at this point but I don't have the time to leave this store without my needed materials and head to another art supply store. I head over to the glue section and have another manager come to me (and I say manager because the people asking me if I need help are dressed in regular clothes), and ask if I need help. I decline and continue to the next aisle where she follows near the aisle I'm at pretending to be stocking items. I move to the next aisle and she proceeds so I shook my head and was over it. I proceed to the front of the store where she was speaking with another manager and I knew they were speaking about me because they looked directly at me and what was inside my cart. So I approached them and told them I heard the customers comment and as well feel uncomfortable of how I'm being treated and followed around and I even showed her the inside of my purse and told her I'm not stealing and well capable of paying for every item in my cart and all she could say is "I'm sorry you feel that way." You're sorry I feel this way or how about you're a valued customer and I truly apologize if we made you feel uncomfortable and how can I make it better? I asked is it my tattoos and judgment of look that I am the center of attention and she continued to say "I'm sorry you feel that way and we have tattooed employees". Ok so what is it then? Then another customer who is over hearing our conversation pats her on her back and says "I'm sorry" as if I'm taunting the manager!! Sorry, but I'm a hard working individual with degrees and certainly don't work at a hobby store to be treated like I'm a criminal. I will never give them another dollar nor I will make sure people know how they judged and proceeded with horrible hospitality and customer service. If I could give zero stars I would. This place has everything marked up so high its crazy. Then they occasionally "discount" it to a normal prce, making customers think they are getting a deal. But my main complaint is with how long the check out lines are. Pull up a chair. Load up all three extended versions of The Lord of the Rings and if you're lucky you'll be seen by the time Frodo reaches Mount Doom. Actually, I just realized that the LOTR story is a metaphor for how long the lines are at Hobby Lobby. And its not just this location, its all Hobby Lobby's. Got a return? Crank up all seven Harry Potters. The seriously need to do something with how insanely long and slow their lines are. A grocery store cashier can scan 75 items in a minute. I would give this store negative stars if they had. So it was Christmas time and I bought two items at the store for my cousins. One of my cousins liked the thing I'd bought which was a bracelet maker. She was excited to make bracelets herself. Then It happened that she couldn't make it after hours, so I decided to take her to the store to return the item so that she could get something else. I bought that item with $18.99 plus tax, no sale, no discount for THAT ITEM. Then when we returned it, the casher told us that that was NOT the right price and then he called another lady to ask about the price. She came and she told us that the price was 12.99 with 30% off. Then she told the man to refund the item with the price they are selling, not the price I bought even though I have the original receipt, and then she told me that was NOT the original receipt.
