Horrible. Food was not good at all and so expensive. No service at all . On the bill already added 18% tips and never tell clients like me didn't know and paid tip on the side . It is not a honest place. Never go anymore read more

I came back with some Yeeps to give this place another try since my second visit here was mediocre. We were able to use a 10% off coupon for the table that we found in Oahu's Best Coupons so that was nice. Even though we came at 10:30am, we were still able to order congee! Their menu says they stop serving it at 10am and I'm glad we asked if we could order it. I've been wanting to try their congee and luckily they still had some left from breakfast. I ordered their Sliced Pork and Preserved Egg Congee. It was a good portion size but taste wise it was just average as the congee just had some sliced pork and preserved egg. Adding their chili oil made the dish tastier. Our table shared their Deep Fried Chicken Wing. It was good and a great appetizer to share. Someone on the table ordered the Malaysia Laksa w/Seafood and gave me a taste of the broth. It was delicious! It had a slight kick at the end that makes you want to keep eating. I think this is the dish to order when you come here! The reason I decided to update my review is because this time around the customer service was significantly better than my second visit here. When they made a mistake on a drink, they gave it to someone on our table to enjoy complimentary and made the correct drink. The place was busier than my previous visit but the staff was working efficiently with one another. I commend them for working on their kinks to provide a better customer experience. read more

Went on a Saturday around 11am. Service was good, simple and quick. Restaurant was empty. Interior was clean and well lit. We ordered the shrimp roll and the toast with peanut butter. Shrimp roll was very good, would recommend. Toast with peanut butter was not what I was expecting. Not too sweet. What I didn't like was the inside, it was mushy and almost uncooked. It was also pretty oily. Wouldn't recommend or get it again. For just two items total came to about $20, plus 3% charge for using card. Overall, okay place. read more

Visited Stix Food Hall for lunch and opted for HK Cafe. It looked too tempting to resist. Arrived around 12:30 PM, and it was pleasantly quiet. Quick seating, and we ordered fried noodles with supreme sauce and charsiu omelette over rice. The fried noodles were a standout--generous portion, slight crunch, and tasty sauce. The charsiu omelette was delightful with a delicious sauce and a decent amount of charsiu. Overall, a satisfying experience with ok ambiance. It's worth noting that there's not a lot of seating, so it can get busy on weekends. read more

Not the typical Hong Kong Cafe you'd expect. Here's what I ordered: 1) beef brisket and tendon noodle: soup wasn't HOT, not much flavor to the soup. 2) sliced pork with pickle vegetables with rice noodle: pork was sour broth definitely lacks seasoning. 3) minced beef rice noodle roll: too mushy, way too much water to their batter. nothing will come close to my mom's homemade rice roll 4) milk tea: alright 5) ovaltine toast: (only serves it after 10, but they're willing to make it if they're not busy which they were on a saturday morning) the ONLY decent dish and it was the ONLY dish we finished. everything else we barely touched 6) chow mein with supreme soy sauce: not bad, could use a little more seasoning. wok hei was there. 7) club sandwich: eh Overall experience: Service: read more

Last review one star, they actually improved on this visit . My go place kukui cafe closed until end of month. Second go to place Sandy's cafe closed. Oh what the hell ...give this place another try! Ok down to the food! Ordered set A&D Beef tomato Mac soup - crap ton of macaroni, little soup with no taste, beef pretty good. Chow mein - good Hot milk tea - good but super small cup I may be wrong but I see what they are doing ..you buy a breakfast set that's actually big enough for 2 people . 2nd person probably to buy a soft drink or if it's one person you probably want another one cause it was so small .. and that ladies n gentlemen is how you make your $$$. For those who haven't work in the f&b industry ... you know most places make their $ from beverages. What does that have to do with this post ? Is because I ordered another milk tea at it was $6. Total for my one person breakfast $31! Staff here is nice , but cmon they make you get your own water in small paper cups ???? I had to get up multiple times to get freaking water !!! I know what some are thinking ...I could have grabbed multiple small cups lol read more

Conveniently located in Chinatown, I truly enjoyed HK cafe. I had cold ovaltine milk chocolate drink and I must say their drink is same as how HK restaurants/cafes does. The young chow fried rice was close to HK. I enjoyed that it is generous in toppings, was looking for that smokey rice flavor coming from the seasoned wok, but all in all it was good! I will definitely come back and try more of their dishes read more

I'm not someone who knows what Hong Kong cafe/ comfort food is like, but the food here is pretty tasty. They have a lot of options on the menu and it's fun to try what I understand to be some authentic speciality dishes from another part of the world. Lovely, friendly and welcoming service every time. read more

Me and a bunch of my friend went here last Sunday during lunch time. It was a soft opening and we waited about an hour and a half. We order a bunch of different dishes but I myself got the beef omelet on rice and a milk tea and coffee. The beef omelet on rice has a selection of satay or black pepper and I went and got the black pepper. It was really good with generous amount of beef. It was a lot of food but I finished it since I was hungry. The milk tea and coffee was really good also because it wasn't sweet like other drinks you get in other places. Overall experience was good other than the long wait but it is reasonable because it's soft opening so many people want to try it and the place is small. The service was also really good, all the staffs was really nice. read more

Been here a few time for their breakfast menu (Combo D Congee with sliced pork/preserved egg and iced lemon tea is our favorite), this is our first time trying out their lunch items. Ordered the beef brisket/tendon funn noodle soup and the beef omelette over rice with satay sauce. Compared to Lam's Kitchen, the broth and beef brisket are better but the funn are not as good in terms of texture in our opinion. The beef omelette is very satisfying and the portion is just right. The satay sauce could use a bit more flavor but that's just my personal preference. Very happy with our meal overall and are looking forward to try more lunch items. One more thing, chili sauce barely has any chili, mostly oil... needs the actual chili. read more

Service was really fast and friendly. We came at 8:30am on a weekday and was able to sit down right away. Their fried noodles was just okay but their hot hong kong style milktea was amazing. I would come back here just for that. I also loved how their breakfast menu had different combos - that made it easier to try multiple dishes. The ovaltine french toast was really good! I think this is one of their popular dishes. I want to try more of their rice dishes in the future. The place was clean and felt like an old-timey hk cafe. HK Cafe - 1. Laksa Seafood Soup - Hong Kong Style Cafe Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Recently tried HK Cafe in Chinatown. It was ok. We tried the char siu with egg and rice, fried chicken wings, look funn noodle with char siu, beef brisket and tendon noodle and iced and hot coffee. I really liked the look funn although it was slightly mushy to the others in my party. It wasn't traditional look funn more like angel hair clumped together but I liked it. The chicken wings were good. Almost tasted like taco seasoning but it was good. The other food items were just ok. The brisket and tendon was decent but Lam's is much better oh and we had the chow funn and that was really good and tasty. The iced coffee with condensed milk was perfect and the hot coffee came with evaporated milk but was good too. I probably won't go back. It was ok for one try but not somewhere I would continue to go to. read more

We were visiting Honolulu and had visited the HK Cafe in Waikiki. Out of curiosity we went to Chinatown and had lunch at this location. With the exception of couple of items on the menu and location, we believe they are the same in terms of food quality, service, The menu here is not extensive, but the food are very presentable and reasonably priced. There were only two servers on duty, and considering the size of the cafe, service was good and food preparation time was relatively quick. The interior (dining area) of the restaurant is simple and clean. The building itself is older and there is no exterior signage other the on the store front windows, it was a little difficult to find. Location aside I would give both HK Cafe the rating. read more

I like how you using history to HUMBLY discuss with your customer. I agreed with some of the history. However, some of the history are wrong. Curry fish ball is still selling on the street, but instead of selling with hawker stand on the street. They all move in to street shop because of the public hygiene issue and they still mainly selling street food now but Definitely is not called ChaChaanTengs! And Hong Kong people called eating street food "So Gai!" Hong Kong style milk tea is actually started from British colonial era which is way before 70's. Milk tea is actually a trend and a culture from upper class of Britain and they bought this culture to Hong Kong. Day after days, people in Hong Kong adjusted their tastes of the milk tea and became Hong Kong style milk tea. Definitely not what you said " Just like Bing Sutt days in ChaChaanTeng back in 70's, "Hey! Milk and Tea tasted great together! Let's sell it!" "And you said Laksa isn't POPULAR in Hong Kong?" Then why are 30 something year old shops in Hong Kong are serving them from the get go and STILL serving it to this day?" Please read my comment AGAIN! I said now days, they might have Laksa in ChaChaanTeng since Laksa is a POPULAR dish now! Hong Kong is a international city, they have all different kind of food from different country. Not surprised they have Laksa long time ago but definitely not originally from TRADITIONAL Hong Kong ChaChaanTeng. If you ask most of the peoples from Hong Kong "Is Laksa one of your popular food during childhood growing up in Hong Kong? I'm sure they will tell you "No!" However, do they sell Laksa in most of the ChaChaanTeng now? I doubt it! At least the ChaChaanTeng my friend open in Hong Kong don't have Laksa! "If there are more HK/ Canton/SEA inspired cuisines that are worth the spotlight in our menu, we WILL add them into our menu in the future! We are a traditional Hong Kong cafe and we will always modify our menu with current trends!" Good to hear! I'm looking forward some TRADITIONAL Hong Kong ChaChaanTeng items on your menu! I'll definitely come and try! If you need to MODIFY or as you says to suit the Chinatown/ Cantonese tongue then DON'T use the word "TRADITIONAL". You could say your cafe is adapting Hong Kong ChachaanTeng's CONCEPT. You could also say your cafe is ChaChaanTeng but don't add "TRADITIONAL HONG KONG" in front because your cafe don't meet the standards of Hong Kong style regardless some of the items on your menu and the taste of the food. read more

Food: 9/10 Service: 7/10 Ambiance: 7/10 The beef brisket and tendon could use something sour and spicy. Overall the meat was tender and flavor was good. Service was not attentive, but they were nice. read more

Really enjoyed the beef chow fun at the Waikiki location so wanted to come to the Chinatown location to try since it is $4 cheaper for the beef chow fun. it was excellent with lots of wok flavour for $13.99...portion is average but definitely not huge. good for one person. also had the hot hong kong tea for $4.50 and it was excellent...very authentic hong style steeped tea. I also had the hot pot rice with pork and anchovy for $15.95 and it was just okay...not spectacular. we also had the Singaporean fried vermicelli which was also excellent. we really enjoyed our meal and the server was very friendly and helpful. we will be returning before end of the month before we leave for home. read more
