Great place to grab traditional milk tea. I usually get the regular flavor with Boba and it comes out great every time. The staff is very friendly, always willing to help you customize your order and explain to you the different selections. I personally prefer my milk tea less sweet so I always ask to reduce the sweetness. I enjoy this place over other milk tea places because the flavor is always consistent and the pricing is reasonable. This is located in the Alamoana shopping center near Macy's. In the newer food court, it's very convenient to get to and easy enough to order- where the wait time is minimal. A great place for fresh made-to-order Chinese food. It's located in the Lanai food court in the Ala Moana Center closest to Macy's. During lunch hours you can expect a line, and you'll probably wait about 15 min for you food but it's made right after you order so it's not sitting around in chafing dishes all day long. They have an extensive smoothie and tea menu as well but I've just always ordered their food. My go-to dish is Singapore noodles (enough for 2 meals!) which is skinny rice noodles stir fried with char siu, shrimp, bean sprouts and green onions. Curry powder is used for seasoning so if you're not a fan of curry powder then it's not for you. I recently tried their Beef Chow Funn, also very tasty and great portion size. I've been coming here weekly during the entire quarantine period. Their drinks are refreshing, sweet and very tasty and I look forward to relaxing here with a cold blended coffee drink. I just came here yesterday and I'm back today. Strangely, they refuse to make me a coffee drink with crushed ice. It's easy enough - just leave out the sugar, leave out the milk powder, blend until ice is crushed. The first few times they refused to leave out the sugar completely because they said it wouldn't taste good. Then they refused to leave out the milk powder. Why? Finally last week a woman working there told me she'd make it and so I had it exactly the way I wanted it. This morning, I'm sad to say I've had it with this place. The young man behind the counter refused to make it for me. He said the blenders don't work without sugar. What kind of stupid excuse is that? Of course blenders work without sugar. He could stick his hand in there and the blender would shred his hand just fine. They've lost a customer. They obviously don't care, which is a shame. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

This is my first time going to HiTEA Cafe. They're known for their boba smoothies, but I got their plate lunch instead. Attached is the photo of the food that I received. It's humongous! The chicken was just a tad bit salty. The sauce was a little bit more bland but on the sweeter side. It took a while for me to get my order but that is bc they cook it to order. The pork chops were good but I would like alittle more peppery and salty flavor. I am OBSESSED with bubble milk teas - I know I get one whenever I see one. Today I happen to be around HiTea Cafe at Ala Moana Shopping Center and of course I decided to get the usual: just boba milk tea with 25% sweetness. Both their Chicken Fried Rice and Minute Chicken Rice Plate were pretty on point. Each of these items were under $11, which is pretty good considering the restaurants inside Ala Moana are pretty pricey to begin with. The only thing I wish is that HiTea offered a combo deal for their food items and their teas. For example, if you buy a menu item + drink and get $1 off? Since they don't have any fountain drinks or bottled water, it comes out to be a little too expensive to get both a drink and entree when I'm eating by myself... Just a suggestion though! Last time, the nice lady made my son a cup of iced water and sent it thru the sealing machine, so that it wouldn't spill. 2nd Update - Went back for 3rd time in 2 weeks. We got salt & pepper prawns and Gung-pau Chicken. Salt & Pepper prawns are definitelt much less salty comparing to earlier purchases. A major improvement. Not sure if it is different chef or what. Somehow, the prawns are not as dry and crispy which I prefer. Gung-pau chicken has all the right ingredients, except it tasted like sweet and sour chicken instead of typical heavier savory with major spicy kick to it. It should rename to Sweet and sour chicken in my honest opinion. I need to try other dishes next time. I still love my tart lilikoi Jasmine no-sugar drink. If the cashier told you no when asking for no sugar. This is definitely the one can adjust the sugar level. In fact many of drinks can adjust the sugar level if it is Jasmin tea base. Update - Went back and ordered Salt & Pepper Pork Chop and Beef chowfun along with discounted drink (discounted when purchase with an entree). Salt & Pepper Pork Chop - Still tasty like Salt & Pepper Prawns. Both dishes are on the salty side. I might ask for light salted one next time. Pork chop has a lot of batter-like filler. The picture seems to be a lot, but half of them are filler. Not much meat in the order. I would prefer Jade Dynasty's salt & pepper pork chop. More bank for the buck. I would definitely order salt & pepper prawns next time. Beef Chowfun - It is fairly comparable to other restaurants locally on quality and quantity. Definitely better on saltiness. Okay quantity on beef. Lilikoi Jasmin Tea - You can always ask if you can adjust the sugar level from none to extra. Some drinks are pre-mixed (for example, winter melon tea is pre-mixed and can be super sweet). Mine was none. It was sour and tart to my liking. Good balance with my salt & pepper pork chop. Original - I ordered salt & pepper prawns over rice. I was too hungry and forgot to take picture. For the price, you get solid 12 WHOLE thin layer of dry flour batter deep fried prawns (best way for deep fried prawn)!!! And 2 scoops of rice (brown or white). Their salt & pepper flavor is so authentic. I love love love it. Except on salty side. I know what I want to try next. Salt and Pepper pork chop and Minute Chicken next time. This place is amazing. The food is literally the best thing in the world. Every time I'm at Ala Moana with my family, we always share two plates: the home style fried rice (C18) and Singapore noodles (C20-I think it's called Singapore noodles lol. It's the one with the curry powder in it!) Regardless, the food is so delicious. The fried rice is cooked perfectly. It's not this mushy mess and the rice isn't too dry--if that makes sense. And the noodles are seasoned so good with the curry powder and they're also not over cooked into mush. Another good thing would be that they're not shy about piling the plate! They really give you your money's worth. Seriously. Two of the plates cost about $22 and some change and it feeds me, my husband, my mom, and my aunt. Now onto why I have this place four stars rather than five...the bubble tea was...okay. I ordered a taro smoothie and found that the boba wasn't sweet. It actually kinda tasted like it was sitting it water for a couple days. It was a weird flavor. The actual taro flavor wasn't that amazing as well. It was a very fake sweet flavor (I KNOW it's not the real fruit, but it was so, so sweet). It didn't really RESEMBLE taro, which was the issue for me. The sizes offered also turns me off. This is THE WORST PLACE FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE FOOD I ORDERED WAS AWFUL! Bought the minute chicken with crisp noodles. This was last night at 6:15. Took it back to my hotel which is about a 20-30 minute walk. The food was so salty I couldn't take more than a few bites. Couldn't return the food the same night because they close at 7pm. Not enough time for me to get back to return. Tried to return the food today. Tha would not honor a return of money or replacement of food. The chicken is flavorable and tender. the dish also has Choi Sum over a bed of tasty crispy noodles that are bite sized. the noodles are tasty, each bite full of flavor not dried out.
