I came here a few days ago on a date and when i first walked in it was bright and open. Good thing i didn't dress up cause its very chill vibes. I wouldn't go here on a date but with people you know for a while its cool. parking was plenty and there was no wait at the time. Service was great, the ladies that work there were lovely. The lady who was either the manager or owner was so sweet and friendly. She was very hands on in there and helped around the whole restaurant. The food is not all you can eat it was more al a carte. The menu was awesome cause there were pictures of the actual rolls on each item or foods! being able to see a picture of what you are ordering is nice. I love that they have black rice rolls!! they had pages and pages of those options which i was so excited about for sure! I ordered a lobster black rice roll and a regular rice roll that had eel on there. The other rolls we ordered were more warm/hot rolls which tasted great too. All their rolls all tasted AMAZING! i loved it all.. i would definitely come back again to dine here soon! i want to take my sister here when she comes into town to visit me. Home of the black rice sushi! What convinced me to come here were the bento box pics. I love a well crafted Japanese bento box. But what made me a fan was the black rice sushi. Wasn't sure if I would like it but it was so unique I wanted to try it. So glad I did. FOOD: They have a wonderful appetizer menu and their bento box selection is good, but you really are coming for the sushi. My daughter and I both got specialty rolls and they were very good! We also got the yakisoba and shu mai. Yakisoba had a little too much cabbage but tasted very good. I loved the shu mai although I suspect it was frozen. It was still good. But the sushi was the bomb. I got the Super Dupper (how it was spelled on the menu) and my daughter got the Geisha. All so delicious. They had so many others we wanted to try I'm sure we will be back. SERVICE: Very good. They were attentive without being overbearing. The food came out promptly and tasted fresh. The place was well kept. And everything looked as good as it tasted. COST: Definitely worthwhile. I'm really saddened that Hiroba quality has gone down hill the last year. I would frequent this place at least monthly for mostly take out. Last week I called the restaurant to place a pick up order, no answer just a message that they are busy with other customers. I attempted to call multiple more times and same message. I went on the website and finally realized they do take phone orders online thru Grub Hub. (I recommend message states if would like a phone order go to website and place order) When I picked up my order 40-60min later per Grub Hub, my order was missing rice in my Chicken Katsu entree order and missing salad dressing with my salad. Had sushi last night! Recommended by our good friends and met them there. Party of 8 and we were split into 2 tables next to each other to conform to the safety rules. Our server Ji was absolutely the best. Super friendly, personable and took care of us well! The sushi and entrees was simply delicious. I was too absorbed with enjoying the food and dinner conversation I failed to take my usual snaps!! I ordered chicken katsu. The chicken was plentiful, enough to share which I did. I shared half of my entree and was still full. The chicken was perfectly breaded and katsu sauce was drizzled on top. I love soft shell crab so I also ordered Spiderman. Delicious! End of an era: We've been loyal customers of this sushi place for years, bringing our kids since they were little. Whenever we visit Las Vegas from Los Angeles, this has been our go-to spot because the kids love it, and the food has always been fantastic at a reasonable price. The staff has always been accommodating to our family. However, since the change in ownership, we've noticed a decline in quality, pricing, and overall vibe. What used to be generous portions now feels limited--where we once enjoyed multiple pieces, we now receive just three for the same price. I understand prices can rise, but it's disappointing that the previous owners managed to maintain both quality and pricing for so long. Regrettably, we've decided not to return. Pick your Style of Americanized Sushi: Sushi rolls with sauce, Sushi rolls with lots of sauce, Rolls with cream Cheese....Black Rice?...Avocado? etc. Is this Sushi ?: Japanese people would know what this is. I'm from Hawaii...I don't know what this is. I know it's not sushi. The Food: There are in fact some authentic Japanese grilled bentos. But the focus is sushi rolls. Ingredients are high quality. I look for the raw fish. The fish quality is not bad. The fish does get 'lost' in the roll and sauce. The nigiri pieces are not bad either. It is just that the sauces, avocado, creme cheese just spoil the entire experience when one is looking for a more authentic style of sushi. I don't want to come across as a sushi snob...I would say the best item, next to the nigiri, and the bentos was the sashimi salad. It was good but not an authentic dish either. Let me tell you Vegas has no shortage of amazing sushi spots. They're everywhere, and most of them are pretty solid. So when my friend Cory the resident "Duck Dynasty" setup a sushi night at Hiroba Sushi I had to try it. Looking at the menu I had never sampled black rice before, so that was a must. All of their rolls were fire, especially the black rice variations. They had real wasabi too, but I'm bummed we didn't try any straight sashimi. Their rice-less roll was awesome though. This spot is not an AYCE, and I'm bummed a couple the night before bought all of their in-house lager to take home. My buddy from Boulder calls the fat kid rolls we killed "cheeseburger rolls" and by that logic we devoured a 40 pack! Overall, I liked this spot and I'd go back. Next time fewer cheeseburgers! Wow seriously? I don't have a rice cooker so I stopped by here to get a side order of rice for the food I was cooking at home. I come in, look at their desserts, buy one and order the rice, pay for it and they say it'll be 5 minutes. Ok so it shouldn't take any longer to scoop rice you've already cooked in a to go container and hand me my premade dessert right? Nope. After waiting outside for 15 min I go inside and ask what's going on. The same exact guy who took my order asked me if I was a table for 1. SAME EXACT GUY! I said I'm the guy waiting that placed the order with you. All of the staff near him ask to see my receipt to see if I paid except for 1 cognizant lady who says she remembers me. So then they scurry off the kitchen to work on it while another lady walks up to me and tries to hand me two bags and asks if I'm Kevin. What is going on here?? It takes another 5 minutes somehow to scoop pre-made rice into a container and hand it to me. Then they say here you are sir and expect me to leave. I then ask if my dessert is already in the bag. I have Celiac and I miss sushi!! It's tough to find places that have a full awareness of how to keep things gluten free. (It's in soy sauce, for crying out loud!) This place has the BEST menu I've ever seen for all allergies. On the back pages, they have lists headed with different allergies and what items are compatible. Such a relief and so much easier than trying to figure it out item by item. The service was super friendly. This isn't a fancy fine dining sushi place, it's a very accommodating local restaurant. My first time here, and I felt like a regular. The food is exactly what you'd expect for a strip mall sushi joint. It's not omg to die for but it really hits the spot. They can be your Hiroba-by. Hiroba Sushi is a decently sized restaurant on Eastern which my friend has been raving about for a while. Tonight, I finally went because he took me to dinner. The location was a small nook across from the sprawling plaza with Smith's and Fitness 19. The interior was spacious and well-lit. The bar, tables, and booths all looked fairly packed for a weekday, but we were seated quickly. After trying to take in the extensive menu, I finally settled on the dinner combos because they seemed like quite a good value, which was a key part of my friend's recommendation anyway. Sushi Dinner ($12.50): with miso soup, house salad, an 8 piece California roll (my choice over the spicy tuna roll), and 7 pieces of nigiri. The soup was fine and the salad was absolutely nothing to write home about, and the hefty size of the California roll isn't that important if you're not buying it on its own, but I can say that almost all of the pieces of nigiri were delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed and found no issue with tuna, salmon, snapper, super white, and unagi. Ebi (regular shrimp) always feels tame when in sushi. Only the yellowtail was problematic. Somehow, it had too much of a "crunchy" response the way it was sliced. It was also a bit on the bland side. I also got to try one take on a Dinner Box ($14.99), their interpretation of a bento box where you can choose from two entrees. It also comes with a soup, salad, and a roll. I had some bites of a Spicy Tuna roll, which was standard and fairly nicely sized too. As for the particular entrees, Spicy Pork was fairly flavorful, and Salmon Teriyaki was nicely crisped on the skin but lightly dry in the middle. Oh, and the mixed tempura pieces were all nicely crispy and cooked thoroughly. I don't typically consider going for non-AYCE sushi in a city full of what I consider to be higher-value options, but Hiroba has sufficiently high-quality execution on their great pricing and portions that I'd consider coming back here for a quick fish fix, even for something as simple as $2.99 nigiri, $2.99 basic cut rolls, and $2.50 hand rolls. read more

Apparently, Hiroba is known for serving sushi made with Black rice and although it completely changes the look of sushi, it tastes great and is a healthy option! Black rice contains essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals and turns deep purple when cooked. We arrived at 8:30pm on a Tuesday night and the place was packed! A good sign! We were greeted with a friendly smile, and once seated we placed our order pretty quickly since my friend is a regular here. We ordered an O My Roll, the Geisha, the Spiderman, and a "Special Box" which is their bento. The dinner bento came with a choice of two items plus 8 pcs of California Roll (or Spicy Tuna), tempura, salad, miso soup and rice. For the 2 items, we chose Terriyaki Chicken, which was nicely grilled, and Spicy Prawns, just your average battered shrimp drizzled with a sweet chili sauce. I requested black rice for the Cali Roll, so I could taste it for the first time. Overall, the fish was pretty fresh, the rice had a premium texture and taste to it, and all very filling we had leftovers to take home. My husband and I had lunch at Hiroba today. We have been searching for great sushi since moving here in January and I believe we have finally found it! It was a Friday night and I had a craving for sushi. After a quick Yelp search for sushi restaurants within reasonable proximity to me, I decided to give Hiroba Sushi a try based on the high marks it had received from the community. Since I was planning on getting it for carryout, I searched for Hiroba's website with the hope that I could look over their menu and place and pay for my order online. Unfortunately, they don't have an actual website other than a Facebook page, which was last updated back in early December of 2020. As a result, I experienced the textbook example of a "first world problem" and had to go to the restaurant on a Friday night during the peak time of dinner service to place my order in person. Hiroba Sushi occupies an average-sized space in a strip mall. As expected, the place was packed with diners in the dining room as well as a steady flow of customers picking up carryout orders. Hiroba's menu offered a wide selection of rolls utilizing various preparations. I was particularly interested in trying their black rice rolls if only for the aesthetics. Their list of nigiri and sashimi offering was a bit more concise than other sushi restaurants I've experienced, but it definitely hit the right notes with me with their selections. I decided on the Hellboy, a black rice roll, which I found on their dining room menu, but isn't on the paper copy, take-home, menu; the Dancing Dragon roll; and the sea urchin (Uni) and salmon roe (Ikura) nigiri. The two nigiri selections are my personal "acid test" for assessing a sushi restaurant and the freshness of its seafood. My order went into the POS system at 7pm. At 7:20, I was informed that it would be 10 more minutes for my order, which ended up being overly optimistic on their part as I finally received my order at 7:48 with their apologies for it taking so long. It really wasn't too much of a problem as I expected to have a longer wait than usual since my sushi craving was definitely poorly-timed to take place on a Friday night at prime-time. Upon getting home and looking over my order, after taking my first bites, I immediately felt it was well worth the wait. Hiroba passed my sushi "acid test" with flying colors as the Uni was brightly-colored, glistening, with no hint of an "off" smell or taste. The Ikura was similarly successful. The fact that these items were so fresh and flavorful gave me a ton of hope that everything else would be of similar quality...and it was. Both of the rolls were delicious. In truth, I couldn't necessarily taste any difference between the white sushi rice and the black, but the black rice offered a very visually appealing and, frankly, unique canvas for the fish and other components in the roll. Hiroba Sushi was far from perfect. They should SERIOUSLY consider making the investment to build an actual website with an online ordering and payment system for carryout orders. This is even more evident after talking with another customer who had attempted to call in a carryout order, but couldn't get past the busy signal, and had to come and place his order in person and wait for it just like me. That said, the service was friendly. The seafood on my order was very fresh. The rolls were well-conceived and nicely executed. Portion sizes were very fair for the price. Bottom-line? Hiroba Sushi got the most important thing right. The food made me very happy. I'll definitely be a return visitor to Hiroba Sushi, but just not on a Friday night. read more

We were visiting Vegas for a family vacation. After seeing a show on the strip, we were heading back to our vacation rental, and looking for a place to grab a late dinner. Unfortunately, it seemed like everything in Henderson closed either at 8 or 9pm. We found Hiroba Sushi because they were open until 10. Wow. We are so glad we did. The menu is a bit overwhelming by the vast array of sushi offerings, which is not a bad thing. The staff was extremely friendly, and our food arrived pretty quickly. My daughter had beef yaki udon (which was delicious), my husband had chicken fried rice, and my son and I tried a few different rolls. Everything was fabulous. My favorite by far was the crispy spicy tuna on black rice (Crispy Black Lotus). The cost of the food was reasonable and worth every cent. A friendly greeting when I walked through the door. They weren't overly busy at 1 on a Thursday afternoon. I ordered a Sapporo beer and three rolls, Philadelphia, spicy tuna and they're Mexican. The spicy tuna was perfect as was the Phily. By the time I had eaten the 2 spicy rolls I had to use the napkin on my forehead :-) Everything was very fresh I enjoyed my lunch very much.
