Sushi & Sashimi Platter*
Felicia C.

We came to Daisho Sushi after getting a Groupon ($75 worth of food for $45). The server was super patient and kind explaining to us what the Groupon covered/didn't cover on the menu. If you're using Groupon here, read the fine print before purchasing to make sure you can get what you want here. My husband and I got the Sushi and Sashimi Platter. Sushi and Sashimi Platter - This platter is meant for 2-3 people, and it's definitely only enough for 2. It looked beautiful when it came out although it took a while to prepare. I didn't love everything on this platter, and the cuts of fish didn't seem to be the highest quality (you pay for what you get). I did enjoy trying out the different types of fish here though. Overall, the Groupon deal was pretty good. You definitely couldn't get this deal anywhere else. Not bad, but you're definitely not getting quality.

We tried this place because of a special that was going on. Most all of the dishes were excellent, only a few were meh. The miso soup, salmon skin salad, mackerel, garlic tuna, baked green mussels, and yellowtail were all top-notch! The only things I didn't care for was the calamari, with the wrong type of breading and way too much of it, and the shrimp shumai, which only had one teeny tiny little shrimp on top of a rather large shumai. Service was excellent, fast and friendly by Chelsea. Very nicely decorated interior with a few televisions around showing what looks like cooking. There was pleasant music playing in the background, maybe just a bit too loud. The bathrooms were clean and pleasant. We are very glad we came to this restaurant!

Delicious food - tempura is perfection, chicken and pork cooked perfectly - soup is warm and filling - and the salad is fresh with dressing seasoned nicely. This was my first visit with a friend who's a regular. He had AYCE and I tried several dishes a la cart. Service was spectacular and we always had drink refills and he tried lots of sushi dishes! The interior is very clean and authentic. We arrived about 5pm and it was great to beat the dinner rush. Just FYI, when you enter, the sushi chef makes a loud vocalization and it scared the daylight out of me lol

Food: The ramen - pretty good. Nothing stands out but definitely worth coming back since it's a local spot. The sashimi unagi. Pretty good. Veggie tempura - loved it. actually my favorite thing here. Service: kind and polite. Ambiance: nice Japanese decor. Everywhere makes you feel like you're in a legit Japanese restaurant.

I came for the $19.95 lunch special from 11.30-2 lots of parking and lots of choices on the AYCE menu plus you have an hour time limit. Lots of choices all the rolls in had were really good plus the soups were also good. I liked the baked mussels and and roll with scallops in it. Spicy scallops and sex on the beach were really good. Great service and the place was really clean

Chicken Teriyaki Bento Lunch

This is our to go place when we want sushi or Japanese Bentos. However tonight we had dinner around 6pm the place only had one other couple inside eating and the gentleman, who seated us was Yawning and seem annoyed we entered. We always enjoyed our food here but tonight the whole place seems to have gone down hill with their service and food. We had there Bentos and our beef & chicken had no teri sauce like normal. It was very dry. Our shrimp tempura were over cooked and hard. Our california rolls fell apart. We had to call the server over to get a drink refill. Again as I said only one other couple was in restaurant so they were not busy that they could not service the tables!. This is very disappointing but at lease vegas has many other Japanese sushi restaurants.

Thank you for bringing back ALL YOU CAN EAT! Everything is tasty. Great selection of rolls. All you can eat is $34.95 all day and premium is $39.95 all day. They also let you do half rolls.

For what we paid; go to Smiths!
John S.

The dragon roll we ordered was the worst roll I have ever had. For the price, go to smiths. Was suppose to have shrimp tempura and cucumber inside, topped with sliced avocado that resemble dragon scales. The roll we got was what was left over from a slayed dragon.

Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box Lunch w/ Spicy Tuna Roll
Kayla N.

Came here randomly after stopping by Walmart because I had a sushi craving. I grabbed a couple of rolls, but noticed they had a bento box lunch special. I came back the next day to give it a try. The portions were pretty good for the price! I was still full by dinner time. The chicken was grilled perfectly and had plenty of sauce. The tempura came with vegetable and shrimp pieces, including a sweet potato! Mmm! . It comes with a California roll, but I was only charged $1 more to change to a spicy tuna roll. Worth it! Also comes with rice and slaw on the side. I think I found a new fave lunch spot!

Another excellent roll

I have never been to a sushi location that the service is this spectacular. Table always cleared away of empty dishes and the speed of how fast the food comes out is INSANE. Waiter comes to your table right away and ask for your order almost immediately after seating. The food and service is fast but you do not feel rushed to eat as fast as you can and leave. You don't get the feeling of them trying to rush you out. The ambiance of this place is on another level. I feel like I am at a club. So if you want a nice and quiet dinner this is not the place for you. But if you want to come with friends and have a good time then this place is a must try! Our waiter was Francisco and he is a freaking rockstar. Always on top of it making us feel welcome and comfortable. Explaining the entire menu and keeping everything on point. GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE!

Not sure why this place is rated so high…read more I'd probably give this place around 3 stars overall. The food honestly wasn't that great compared to other spots in the area. It wasn't terrible by any means, but nothing really stood out and there are definitely better places if you're specifically craving Japanese food. What really bothered me though was the pricing situation. We came during their lunch AYCE hours, but because there was a festival going on that weekend, they decided to charge full dinner price instead. So I am docking off another point for the owners being greedy. Service itself was okay, just not enough to justify the higher price they charged us.

Shigotonin is a delightful discovery off the Vegas strip (but may as well be on the strip…read moreconsidering the taste and quality of food here) in a small plaza. Chef Shuji runs the restaurant with his wife next to him in the kitchen. The fish here is flown in from Japan and of the highest quality as you can see from the sheen and fat marbling. The tuna melts in your mouth and bite after bite is a wonderful experience as you pair it with soy sauce, fresh Wasabi, yuzu Wasabi, or some combination of the condiments provided. This is also the first sushi restaurant I have ever been to that automatically brings out fresh Wasabi without having to ask. The portions are generous and we left feeling very satisfied. Even though we were very full, we took a look at the dessert menu. Not pictured here is a sweet potato with ice cream and brown sugar glaze. This dish on the menu was unassuming but the taste was so decadent. Quite possibly the best and sweetest sweet potato I have ever tasted. The chef slowly roasts them over a 2 hour period, rotating the potatoes every so slightly every 15 minutes. The sweet potato could be a dessert by itself, it was that good! Chef Shuji is a charming and funny host. He regularly comes out to greet his customers and makes sure they are enjoying their meal, very high-touch. If you know Japanese - even if it's just a few phrases, speak with him as he will be delighted. He was absolutely tickled when we said arigato and he shared that he is originally from Kyoto. Cannot wait to return to Shigotonin!

Romantic vibe

You don't need to go to the Strip for Ari yeah!…read more Ari Sushi & Izakaya is a very well-Yelped restaurant in the southwest. I've particularly seen buddies post about it on Instagram a lot, and I finally made my way out there since I found that it aligned with my mom's food craving. I went for the Ari Ari Combo ($29.00). It started with a little bowl of balanced miso soup and a tiny side salad with fresh greens and a simple sesame dressing, and was followed by six thin but delicious sashimi slices and four basic but also solid-quality nigiri. I would be more than happy to come back try to more of their raw fish any time. If that doesn't sound like enough for lunch, I did share other food items. The Garlic Edamame ($7.00) felt a little less salted than I expected but was a good portion and had plenty of both a garlic sauce and crispy garlic slivers. I also helped out with a Bento with 3 items ($25.00): bulgogi, mixed tempura, and spicy tuna roll. The bulgogi was tender but not strongly marinated enough and the spicy tuna roll felt pretty standard, but I did really enjoy the shrimp tempura and the veggie tempura pieces which I tried. They were super hot and crispy while being cooked perfectly inside, and the sauce was perfect. The music was relaxing and not played at a very high volume. The restaurant is a little more dim than I'd like and could benefit from overhead narrow-angle lights, but maybe the food was just that good that the lighting wasn't so important. The server was happy to refill my complimentary water with lemon as often as needed, as well as to add more water to the Hot Green Tea ($4.00). I did try some of the tea, and it was potent and low in bitterness. I'm pleased to report that Ari Sushi really does offer delicious sushi, enough so that I'll probably have to make more trips from Henderson to try more of their menu. If you want high quality mid-price-range sushi that's not in an all you can eat format, this is a great place to look.
