Simply solid. Simpli Sushi is a fairly new Henderson spot launched by a couple previously more known for catering and events. Located in the former shabu spot on Valley View and Horizon Ridge, they've seemingly built a decent following already, given the Saturday night dinner traffic that showed up shortly after we did. This is a counter-order service place, although they do require pre-ordering if you want the drama of the sushi boat or the novelty of a sushi cake. I liked how soy sauce and ponzu dispensers along with various utensils are available on a shelf to the side, and cold water is on a table on the other side. My friend and I were in the mood for some sushi, and we noticed that the Nigiri Platter looked like a great deal. $100 for 40 pieces is basically $5 an order, and most of the items are listed at over $5. It did take a while for the sushi chef to prep all of those pieces in the back but we were rewarded with a pretty platter of 5 pieces each of eight fish. I wouldn't say I was a big fan of all the cuts. The yellowtail was blander than I expected. The salmon and tuna were just alright. The unagi was solid, as was the aji (horse mackerel) which they subbed in since they were out of scallop.. The albacore and sea bream were really nice, given that I usually get albacore coated with cajun spices at sushi spots with more of an unlimited model, and sea bream rarely if at all. Seared salmon was actually my favorite, with a great tenderness from having half of it lightly cooked. By the way, how is 5 pieces the number of choice a platter that's large enough to split between people? Going with 10 different fish at 4 pieces each would make it sharable for two. As it was, my friend and I had to "draft" our favorite pieces at the end to divide the pieces evenly. Simpli Sushi is a good neighborhood sushi spot and provides affordability with solid quality. Maybe I'll go more splurge-y next time with some of the more premium fish options and Modern Sashimi and see how those fare. read more

I ordered the chirashi bowl and I enjoyed everything in this bowl. 3 pieces of salmon, tuna, 2 pieces of yellowtail, 1 pc of toro and shrimp, and 1 oz of salmon roe. Now I didn't get fresh seaweed like what the description said but I'm not bothered by that because there is half a Japanese plum in there. There was also good wasabi with it. Well my mom had a hair apt and forgot something and I rushed over to get it to her in time after a series of special events that left me starving...with a baby that had no clean pants. I realized this restaurant was in a same shopping center and sheepishly came in with my wild pantlass child. The owner was manning the counter and was a father of 3 and was so understanding and kind. They had been purely mobile prior and still focus on their large mobile sushi boats for events, but have a small menu of nigiri, sashimi, rolls and rice bowls. They also have a good amount of drink options that are beyond the basic soft drink options. I ordered the chirashi bowl, seared salmon nigiri, and yuzu soda. The chirashi bowl was smaller than some in the area at the price point but the quality of the fish was much higher. It was so buttery and fresh, and the rive was perfectly cooked and seasoned. They also had this little green thing on top that looked like an olive but tasted sweet and kind of like tea. It was really interesting. They served homemade ponzu, good quality wasabi and ginger, and soy sauce on the side to go with it. With the seared salmon nigiri he put the sauce on the side it normally has as he was worried my son might not want the sauce since it was for him. He even threw and extra piece in in case he was hungry...He didn't end up eating it because he was being picky and distracted, so I did lol I normally like a bit of char on my seared salmon, but overall it was good. I think this is a great family run shop that should continue to be supported in their new space. They offer nigiri and sashimi a la carte, various rolls, as well as donburi. They also offer various Set-o (set meals) meals. For lunch, the daughter ordered yellowtail nigiri and a shrimp tempura roll. I decided to order the Popular Set-o which included 2-pieces of salmon, 1-piece of yellowtail and 2-pieces of tuna nigiri, as well as 4-piece California roll and 4-piece spicy tuna roll. Total was under $40.00. For a sushi lunch for two, $40.00 is a tremendous value in my opinion. After about 10-minutes our order was brought out to our table and everything was great. The fish was fresh, plenty of ginger and wasabi on the side. Compared to "high-end" sushi restaurants, Simpli's offerings were comparable in terms of flavor and fish quality. I also did not received any tracking information or any information at all regarding my order except that it will be delivered by Nash (no idea who or what Nash is) so even though I scheduled a time delivery I had no idea when my order was coming. I only found out that my order was coming because I was outside when the driver came and only then I received a text with a photo saying that my order has been delivered. Soooo not being able to track your order is kind of a bit uncomfortable. Food - sushi wise I can say that the fish and nigiris are absolutely delicious and fresh but the rice on the rolls were dry and hard especially on the california rolls. We ate all the nigiris but had left over rolls. I had high expectations since it is a bit pricey but a bit disappointed with the rolls.
