The steak was juicy and tender, and the bread was soft--just how I like it. My buddy said his steak was very good as well, so I'd say we made two great choices! I'd definitely come back here again. We had Brussels sprouts and calamari for appetizers. Both dishes were crispy and had great flavor. The sprouts had a sweet balsamic glaze which complimented the earthiness well. The calamari had an airy, crispy breading and a plethora of sauces to choose from for dipping, my favorite being the cocktail sauce which was savory and tangy. For the entree I had a lettuce wrapped cheeseburger and I was really impressed. The beef was juicy and fresh while the condiments were fresh as well. The fries were so good, too! They were crispy, seasoned well and tasted amazing with the ranch. For dessert we had crème brûlée, YUM! The sugar coating was a perfect amount of waxy and sweet, and balanced well with the vanilla custard. The custard was creamy, decadent and super satisfying. The vibe of the restaurant is homey, upscale and warm, great place for a celebration or date night.

The shining star on the menu : the deviled eggs and the rotating seasonal deviled eggs. It's smart to go during happy hour and get deviled eggs and really well-crafted cocktails! The walls are decorated with musicians, and the staff wear old band T-shirts, which is neat but other than that, the music theme doesn't play out anywhere else. The restaurant doesn't have live music, there's no music or musicians in the menu names. I've had brunch here twice, and both times I went with the banana bread French toast topped with espresso butter. It's rich and delicious. Last time I had a side of scrambled eggs and they were prepared & seasoned well. The brunch buffet is fairly standard: fruit, pastry, eggs, meats, biscuits & gravy. Nothing really stands out about the brunch service here, whereas lunch and dinner are stellar.

And they do offer cocktails, soda and iced tea Hubby and I have gone non alcoholic and we chose ice tea. We had salmon cakes for appetisers, it came out quick Delicious crispy. Hubby's salad came out pretty much the same time. It looked delicious and fresh. Combination of vegetables and tomatoes, croutons and dried cranberries and cheese make the salad look delectable and it didnt disappoint. We both took awhile to decide what we wanted. Every dish looked delicious. We finally decided on steak and meatloaf. My meatloaf is to die for. The meatloaf was juicy and had crispy edges with anice tomato sauce on top on a base of mashed potato. The asparagus was perfectly sauteed. Tender not overly done. We then ordered desserts. Hubby ordered the brownie and I got the strawberry mousse. The brownie was light and delicate yet decadent. Let me explain- the brownie is light like a lava cake its a cross between a brownie and a lava cake. Absolutely delish!! It was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My strawberry mousse was delicious - light and tasted of strawberry fields on a cloud Overall, we will definitely be back. Blown away!!!

As for my own family, we've learned to schedule later dinner reservations because once we're there, it's hard to leave! Some of my sweetest memories are from bringing my mother here while she was still with us. We often ended up being the last ones there at closing because we were enjoying ourselves so much. Kevin and his staff were always incredibly gracious, never making us feel rushed, and consistently treating us like family. That kindness leaves a lasting impression. Reading some of the less-than-positive reviews honestly surprises me because our experience over the years has been consistently wonderful. We've always received excellent service, enjoyed the entertainment, appreciated the comfortable atmosphere and beautiful views from every table, and loved the nostalgia throughout the restaurant and memorabilia. And the food? Absolutely enjoyable every time. Considering the unique experience, atmosphere, entertainment, and very reasonable pricing, I think expectations should be balanced accordingly. Personally, I genuinely enjoy the food here -- often more than at many other restaurants in town. This place is special, and we will continue making memories here for years to come.

As an Elite Yelp Reviewer, I seldom, if ever rate something one star. To achieve that low of a…read morerating the establishment has to miss on every category - food, service,, and the theme or mission of their place (when they have one). Screamers Family Restaurant, unfortunately, forced me to rate them a single star for those very reasons. We wanted to try it as we'd heard from a friend or two that it was good. And to be fair, my harsh review is just "my opinion". The establishment was very busy when we entered with mostly families, many of multiple generations. Our table for our party of four was located near the front, by the check-in and the bar, was two nondescript square tables, pushed together and basic metal chairs with a slight pad on the seat and back. Nothing special, just functional. Our server took a while to appear. Maybe she was "performing". Screamers is a "musical performance restaurant" where the servers take turns grabbing the mic and belting out loud (and not always good) show tunes and songs from the theater performances they've done in their "other job". I expected really good vocals. Only one of four had that. And It was very loud. And that's not something I generally note in my reviews. I believe a loud restaurant is one where people are enjoying themselves. In this case the restaurant was loud because the servers made it so by screaming into the mic...hence the name? Once our server arrived, we ordered appetizers. She raved about their wings, so we went for them. I specifically and carefully explained to her that I wanted 12 wings "naked" with two sauces on the side - BBQ and Buffalo. I also asked for both Ranch and Blue Cheese for dipping. In about 15 minutes what arrived was 12 wings - 6 tossed in BBQ and six in Buffalo with two servings of Ranch on the side. A total miss. I mentioned it to her and she said - "Oh, I'm sorry about that." - and then exited. I was dumbfounded. In two minutes she was "screaming" into the mic. I wondered....is she here to serve or sing? She seems unable to do both. With atmosphere, service, and theme covered - let's get to the food. We ordered two grilled salmon, "Prime" rib, and meatloaf. The salmon was overdone, but looked good. The potatoes and fries served with each were acceptable. The "Prime" rib was a tough piece of beef rib that was almost inedible. My order - their "famous" meatloaf was not good at all. First of all, it was sliced into rectangular medallions that were then microwaved and topped with a fairly tasteless tomato sauce. This is the first time I've EVER had meatloaf that was sliced, reheated and then covered to the point of no recognition with sauce...at least place it under the broiler and sear the sauce to the top! Now with all of this said, I'm sure the owners of Screamers are good people with great hopes and intentions. And the reviews we've heard from others were that the place was good. So maybe I experienced the perfect storm...or maybe my expectations are just too high and others have much lower expectations and are happy here. But my belief is that I need to be honest in my opinion. I worked in a steakhouse in my college years. Met my wife there. I'm a foodie and I love trying new restaurants. I tried Screamers Family Restaurant and I don't think I'll try it again. It was a rare "One-Star" for me. You may feel differently if you try it. To each his own.

When you walk in, you are hit with the smell of fresh burgers and sides being prepared in front of you. It's a counter order style restaurant where you order first then sit and collect your food after. We tried a little of everything during this visit: Burgers, Sweet potato fries and Parmesan truffle fries. The burger was definitely the star of the show. The Reading Rainbow has a hearty portion of peanut butter on it, combined with their version of jelly, making this burger extremely filling. Now to the fries, and reason for 4 stars. Both of our fries arrived a little cooler than I would expect for freshly made items. The sweet potato fries were crispy, yet lacked flavor. The truffle fries were disappointing. They were very dry and had what seemed like seasoning and cheese dumped in the container. I'd expect some oil for the "truffle" label, but there appeared to be none. Overall, I'd be willing to give Honest Abe's another try for their sides and try another burger to see how it compares!
