The best sushi restaurant in town. The food was delicious and the service was good. The sashimi was fresh and delious. And the environment is wonderful, I like the decoration very much. read more

The best happy hour. Entrees are great and their sushi is fresh. Awesome atmosphere for a date or as a group.

By far the best sushi joint in Lincoln! They are so professional and are kind every time I've been there! They sushi is always so tasty! I recommend Hiro's Crunch and the sushi with asparagus in it...so yummy! Another cool touch is the boats that you get if you order enough sushi. Highly recommend for you sushi fanatics read more

Went here twice and the food was okay the first time, then horrible the second. The sushi was clearly made before, frozen, and then heated in the microwaved. Service was good, which made up for the awful food, but I would not recommend this Hiro location to anyone. The one in Omaha puts this restaurant to shame. read more

This is now the best sushi in town. It is pretty expensive if you go outside of happy hour, but it's worth it. A lot of fun drinks. Expect to fork over some dough for your dinner, but it will be the best sushi you can get in lincoln. read more

Delicious food (we split a philadelphia roll and a rainbow roll) and speedy quick for pick-up!

Are you kidding ? Frozen fish served soup-like water coming out of it. Do yourself a favor...in Lincoln stick to a steak. This place would not last a week in Los Angeles. Attention to the customer ? Well i had to get off my table ... again Not Worth it. I m sure will be gone when i return next year. read more

One of my favorite places. Clean. Good food. Fast, friendly service. Reasonably priced.

The food is really good here, easily my fave sushi place in town. Got a to-go order on the reverse happy hour menu but my cup of miso soup was only half full. Given it is only $2 per soup but I was really looking forward to it. Wasn't too happy about that but my sushi was great read more

Been here multiple times now and almost always satisfied. Service is fine but we were in late on Friday and it was SO LOUD. Plus we got seated in one of those long community booths so you can hear everyone's conversation around you. My favorite is the peanut butter chicken, some of the best I have ever had. My fiancé generally goes with the sushi and it is always good. The drinks are ok, generally have good luck with the rotating taps. The prices are on the high side, so if you can hit happy hour, I would recommend it. read more

The fish was fine. Some of the sashimi pieces seemed like they were still defrosting. The "hot" saki we ordered, was tepid at best and we had to send it back twice to be heated. Service was very long and the prices were ridiculous for the portions. Great salad dressing. Tasty starters. Overall overpriced, but ok sushi for Nebraska. The number of TVs was overwhelming and killed some of the otherwise decent interior design vibe. read more

Restaurant aesthetics -10, food presentation -10, food itself - 5. Satay bland and looked like bean dip. Salmon a little too fishy tasting to be fresh. I called a day early to ask about any msg in the food because I can't have it. The waitress could not answer and the general manager could not answer without checking with the owners first (no chefs?). I called right after lunch rush. I realize this is a sushi place but there are other dishes. it seemed like a pretty general question and one that you would want to know in the case of any adverse reactions. As managers go, jmo he seemed wound too tight to me over the phone and I was just asking a benign question. He didn't offer to phone me back. The waitress was a little too loud and on hyper-drive considering we were the only table in the restaurant at the time. The best dining experience is wait staff that is attentive but in the background to your conversation. Loud doesn't allow that. That being said, since it was my first visit I would give it another try before checking it off my list. read more

I love this place, I tried sushi for the first time and they were so helpful. I love the Rainbow Roll and Californai Roll and I also love there short ribs for an appetizer. I also love that they are open till midnight since I don't get off of work till late. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is an expert or noobie to sushi. read more

Great place to hit if your in the HayMarket. Reasonable prices for Midwest Sushi. Service is quick. Spicy rolls were not that spicy but the quality of sushi rolls are great. read more

I went to dinner at hiro 88 the other night with my sister. The atmosphere was great. The food was delicious. The night manager tony was super friendly and helpful in suggestions when it came to our dinner selection. I recommend you give it a try read more

Being from Japan, for us, this is the best sushi place in Lincoln. Of course, it can't be as fresh as somewhere on the coast, but for Nebraska, they do a pretty good job. Nice selection, well presented, in a clean, modern setting that is good for a date or a group. The Japanese portions of the menu are fairly authentic, and even the Americanized rolls are pretty good. When we miss food from Japan, we take a trip here. read more

Normally I love Hirio, but last Thursday wasn't the best experience I've had. To be fair we did have a a slightly large party, but the service seemed rushed and all over the place. To top that off, I got food poisoning from a roll that I used to get all of the time. read more

BBQ rib entree and Hiro 88 roll...so good!! Staff is always great, too. Nice wine list and freshest fish in town.

Went for lunch. After 45 minutes no meal served. Long-term customer but walked out. Terrible service

We had a large group dinner here last week and had a great experience. Our server Daniel was awesome - super friendly and brought everything out quickly and exactly how it was ordered, impressive when waiting on a group of 20 solo. They had good gluten-free options, one of the reasons we chose to eat here, and you HAVE to try the short ribs appetizer. read more

Went yesterday, the food was very good as we have always found it, but our server left a lot to be desired. He was very cold and matter of fact. Never introduced himself, never cracked a smile. My water. Glass was empty and pushed to the edge of our table for 10 minutes, and was never refilled until I finally stopped him on one of his many trips past our table and asked for a carafe of water for the table. He did not hesitate to take my mojito glass off the table without asking if I was finished with it, which I wasn't. Never once after our food arrived did he stop to ask if we needed anything or if everything was alright. We will continue to go there, but if he is our server, we will request a different seat. read more

Purchased the GroupOn for Hiro88 the description was for "$26 for $50 worth of dinner for four or more, valid Monday-Thursday". I took my wife and kids to this here to enjoy a family night out. It was around 6pm on a Thursday and there were four of us meeting the requirements for the GroupOn, although my children are young 5 and 2 we've generally been able to find something on the menu that they will enjoy (at least we have an the Sushi place down the street). As we went into Hiro88 there was a sign on the door stating to let your waiter know that you intend to use a GroupOn. The hostess sat us, we asked if we could get a high chair for ours littlest. The hostess relied that they didnt have highchairs. So not a huge deal we figured she could sit on our lap and we all started to look at the menu. About 5 minutes later our waitress appears and I tell her about the GroupOn. She overlooks it and tells me that she'll have to ask her manager if she can use it. I asked why and she replied "It states its for four people". I look at her puzzled and then look at the four of us and said that "there are four of us". A manager can over a minute later and said that the GroupOn is for four meals not people and that we couldn't use it. So we ended up leaving feeling embarrassed that other people around watching us come in and then leave a few minutes later and angered that Hiro88 doesn't recognize my kids as "people". Save your money and go down the street to Dozo's great food and MUCH more kid friendly. Later I reviewed the GroupOn's fine print when we returned home and NOTHING in the fine print stated it had to be four meals. The closes fine print stated "Must purchase 1 food item." Which obviously we were going to do. After complaining to GroupOn, they gladly refurned my GroupOn purchase and I have informed pretty much everyone I know about my first experience at Hiro88. UPDATE: The Manager and I had personal messages back and forth regarding this event and I'd like to say that the manager was very prompt in his responses back and making every effort to rectify this scenario. He seemed very sincere in his apologize about this event, and I will probably go back for another try. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Hiro last night, hungry and excited to try it for the first time. We were taken to our table, situated very close to two other couples to where it was uncomfortable to have a conversation without being heard by both of them. I got over it. The waiter greeted us, brought our waters. When he came back to ask for our orders I specified that we were almost ready but just needed a couple minutes. We were ready to order within a couple minutes. I then watched him attend to a new table, bring checks for two tables, bring food for another table, check up on another table and run to the kitchen all while avoiding eye contact with us. This whole process involved our table not being checked on for 10-15 minutes, which is a long time given that a sit down meal usually takes a total of an hour tops. When he came back asking if we'd had enough time I said that we had been ready to order and handed him our completed sushi menu. From that point on, it was a shit show. He continued to avoid our table and acted rushed/was not polite despite my attempts to "make up with him" by being nice and thanking him dutifully. I work in food service and am typically over the top polite to waiters/waitresses but this time it seemed as if he wanted to focus more on well dressed middle aged couples than two 25 year olds out on a date. I had no complaints with the sushi. Upon leaving we had no choice but to leave him a $10 tip on a 40 dollar bill just so he could chew on it and reevaluate his behavior. Not excited about the down treatment, step it up. You're displaying blatant classism when you should act like every customer is valuable. You can't assume that people who are dressed fancy are going to tip you well and shit on other customers. I will continue to eat at Blue and Tokyo where I'm treated with respect. I love and eat sushi regularly so you just lost some good business. read more

Honestly, this is my favourite place to eat! We always go for all day happy hour on Sunday, and our rolls are always served quickly and always delicious! read more

Stir-fry crispy chicken was good. Friendly waiter. Lunch-time hostess seemed indifferent and put us at drafty remote table by rear exit -- I think they're into the "Haymarket young professionals" crowd. read more

My girlfriend found a hair in her drink at lunch. I was expecting the drink to be taken off the bill, but it wasn't. Seems like common courtesy right? I think so anyway... I also found out that not only did I have to pay for the drink that was remade, but the server had to pay for the drink that was thrown away. In fact, the servers have to pay for anything that gets sent back. Ridiculous. Plus the food was mediocre at best. read more

Decent service sushi but not anything special. I have to give only two star because management seems far to focused on bottom line than providing a good dining experience. They failed to honer a perfectly good groupon on a ridiculous technicality. The parameters of this groupon are too stringent. I went in to Hiro 88 with three friends to use this coupon was told no matter how much food we ordered the Groupon would not be accepted if we did not have a fourth person. It is a completely Assinine rule considering we ordered a good amount of food. Perhaps I should have asked a random 4th person to sit with us for a few minutes. The quality of the food does not warrent a second visit. read more

Would never visit this location again. Completely dissatisfied with the service when I told them they didn't give me the open table points after I told the hostess I had made a reservation. The person answering the phone after I received a cancellation email for my reservation was rude and said they could do nothing for me. I would rather go to Omaha where they know what they are doing. It's sad that Lincoln can't seem to get it right. read more

Weird music that they play considering the ambience, but the food is great. Only wish there was an "in-between" for sushi dinners.

We ordered carry out on our way through Nebraska. Maybe it is because we can get excellent sushi where we live but this was the worst sushi I have ever had. Extremely fishy and difficult to eat without the rolls falling apart. The appetizers were good but expensive. The restaurant itself seemed nice but the food didn't go over well. read more

I've been to this location many times and even drove an hour away to the sister restaurants because they have the best sushi in Nebraska. However, after today's experience I'm not sure I can continue to give them my business. I first tried to make a reservation on the website through Open Table and was unable to so I called. For parties of 8 or morethey take your credit card information and charge you $10 for every person that doesn't show up. I originally was going to make a reservation for 15, but we had 2 people that were unsure that they were able to make it. I did not want to be charged an additional $20 for nothing and I asked if we were to come right at 10pm if we would be able to get a table without a reservation. The manager said it would be busy but when we arrived it was not. There were probably only 3 tables sat. We ended up having 16 and when I told the host about the change she was rude and said there was no way we could add another table or move to another area since they had already set up the table. The restaurant had many free open tables but was unable to accommodate us. The host told us to "make it work" and we ended up splitting into different tables. One table of 12 and a table of 4. We did not order together. After the okay service we were automatically charged 20% gratuity. The food is good, but if you happen to have a big party, I wouldn't bother coming here. Maybe order a togo platter and have people come to your house. read more

The food, once we got it was good. We did not get our appetizer at all and it was 40 minutes until we got our soup. They were out of silverware so I ate with a spoon. Add that to the plastic cup my drink came in and I felt like I was at the kids table. read more

My first visit here was on 07/02/2015. Came in solo so grabbed a seat at the bar. Server was very polite and quick. I wanted to try some of the dishes that other Yelp reviewers have given great reviews of so had some of the Tuna Sashimi as well as an Unagii roll with an appetizer of the Edamame. I had never tried the prior two and to whoever the reviewer was that said Filet Mignon has nothing on this couldn't have been more correct. It tastes exactly like a rare cut of the most tender filet. Unagi roll was delicious as well and I always enjoy Edamame. And what a bonus at the end, it was "roll the dice Thursday" where the manager comes over and you roll the dice to see what your meal discount will be. Worst you can do is no discount with snake eyes or double sixes and I got 54% off my total tab! There are several choices for Sushi in the Lincoln market I enjoy now and you can add Hiro 88 to to top of my list now! read more

This is probably my least favorite sushi place in the haymarket. Mostly because every time I go their I have poor service. The tables are also very close together so I always feel crammed and it's loud. The sushi is ok, but I've definitely had much better. read more

Love Hiro 88. The atmosphere is perfect for date night. I wish I could remember our waiter's name. He had the perfect level of attending to our needs yet giving us privacy and not interrupting our conversation. The food was delicious and I love their specialty drinks! read more

The food and our server were excellent. What would have been nice is if your manager would have personally explained this unique rule versus his aloof and closed attitude. read more

A friend and I recently went for dinner at Hiro 88 in the Haymarket. We ordered one appetizer and two sushi rolls. We kept it simple and were pleased by the service. There was some confusion on the final bill, as our taste buds did not fancy the particular appetizer we ordered (although I know it is quite popular!) Anyways, the issue was promptly addressed and corrected by the general manager. We will most likely be returning soon to continue sampling the extensive and enticing menu options! Well, hiro, you earned the 5 stars! I knew you would because you're my favorite sushi place in Nebraska! We went tonight for my birthday, and it was wonderful! I love the fact that you texted us when our table for 10 was ready, and the hosting staff was very polite and helpful. The server was great and very patient with our big group, and was extremely organized. As a former server myself, I value the fact that other staff members helped out with drinks and food, especially with a big group like ours. We were very satisfied with the service overall! Sushi was fresh and delicious (as usual) and the drinks were great too! Our server recommended the chocolate cake for desert, and I'm glad we caved in because it was really wonderful. Thanks so much for making my birthday awesome!! read more

I ate at Hiro 88 tonight with my husband and our daughter. We came in around 7:30pm and were surprised to find out that it was "dice night," something we had never seen before. I'm not the type to go online and review a restaurant, but felt impelled after the delightful evening we had. We are new to Asian cuisine, so we had many questions that were quickly answered by our server, Jordan. We will be requesting her next visit. The manager greeted us after being sat, and again after our meal to roll dice. This is a brilliant concept in my mind. We loved how energetic and professional the manager was. It seems that he truly wanted us to save money with the dice game. I could tell that he honestly cared about the customers. Thank you Hiro 88, We will be back. read more

Took my father here for lunch over the weekend, and had a much better experience here than the location in West Omaha. Lunch prices are very reasonable, with a nice selection of hot entrees, sushi, maki etc. My father had a bento, and I had a couple maki rolls. Service was good, and it is located right in the heart of Haymarket. Would recommend if you are in the area looking for solid Asian food. read more
