Even though this restaurant is quite distanced from where I live, I love going there for family outtings or just a casual dinner. The kitchen food is amazing and the sushi is almost addicting. The fish is so fresh and the smoked salmon has a beautiful coral colour. I don't order the Hibachi very often, but when I do, it never fails to amaze me. The last time I ordered kitchen food, it was a plate of Yakisoba, my aunt and I enjoyed it very much. Though, we still saved some for my mother, whom wolfed it down in mere seconds when we gave it to her. My favourite appetizer of theirs is most definitely the Crispy Calamari, with Avacado Fries as a close runner up. However, the Gyoza is absolutely amazing too. When it comes to sushi, I'm not very picky. I grew up eating a lot of sushi, but I've never had too much of a particular appetite. Even though I don't have a crazy-choosy appetite, I still know good sushi when I taste it. The rolls at Hinode, are just that. The Fruity Duty roll is just so good! The server recommended to me, and his description had my mouth watering! When I got the roll, I was so ready to try it, that I didn't even take pictures. It was a bit small, but it was really pretty. The kiwi and strawberry slices, with honey glazed on top really put the whole look together. Out of all the rolls I've tried it was definitely my favourite! When it comes to the service, I would rate it a 4.5/5. The servers were polite and made me laugh quite a bit. The only problem I have is that sometimes (not often, but occasionally.) I'll have to wait for a while. It's never an issue if I have company, but when I go alone, its boring just to wait. Thankfully, the servers normally come over and start a conversation whenever I'm feeling SUPER bored. The interior is cozy and theres a calm atmosphere. The BGM(backgroundmusic) changes every once in a while which is always nice. I quite like the paintings on the wall, very abstract and ethereal. Overall, my take on Hinode Sushi is that it's a very good restaurant with yummy food, nice service, and a cozy aura! read more

I absolutely love this sushi spot! The service is good, the prices are good, the presentation is beautiful and the fish is fresh/delicious! There is a ton to choose from on the menu as well. Every roll I have ordered when I have eaten here has been very good. Their appetizers are great, my favorites are the trio tower, avocado fries, Fuji mountain stack and the crab rangoons. The one complaint I do have about this restaurant is about the take out orders. A few times when I have gotten take out the rolls we're sub par and contain less fish than what they serve when you dine in. read more

Came here to have sushi and they had a table open and would not sit us because we were a party of 2. They said they "keep that table open " wfor larger parties. Then a party of 5 walked in and they were going to seat them before us and gave us the option to sit outside or at the sushi bar. We decided to leave at the ridiculous treatment of customers wanting to eat sushi on a Friday evening. Several booths were occupied by parties of 2 so their logic is faulty. When we moved here a year ago, we went looking for a sushi place and passed this one by, thinking there was no way there would be great sushi so close to home. Two failed attempts at sushi around town and we decided to give this one a try. After our first visit here, we kicked ourselves for passing this one originally. We could have been enjoying sushi from the beginning, if only we had walked passed Tijuana Flats. Now, this is the only place we go. The sushi is always delicious and the waitstaff has always been very nice. The place my children pick for their birthday dinners, and it never disappoints. I have not tried any of their cooked food, although we did pick a fried roll last night. The frying was very light and quick enough to not ruin the sushi within. Our first time trying out Hinode since it opened. We started out with Edamame and Tempura Calamari. The Edamame was good, hard to screw up, and the Calamari was crispy and excellent. I got the Hibachi Chicken with fried rice. It was good, and the serving size huge. The chicken was dry, but the flavor was good. My wife got the Shrimp Yakatori and enjoyed it. My daughter got Chicken with Udon Noodles and was not dissatisfied. My son got 5 sushi rolls and liked them all, taking home the leftovers. The owner is always behind sushi bar working as quickly as possible and the fish is ALWAYS fresh. The worst service ever. We have ordered from them and been there 3 times now. The first two times were decent and the third time the food was terrible. The chicken in the chicken fried rice was so overcooked that it was inedible. The sushi wad But still we decided to give it one last shot. And I called to place a to pick up order and I was on hold for over 10 min while there was the woman who put me on hold giggling and laughing with others and taking other orders. At least if they would say they can't do orders or get back on the phone to say anything but no, they did nothing and it's such terrible customer service. I officially will never try this place again. Their service inside the restaurant is also terrible. The food is good but the service is the opposite I was seated at the kitchen bar and the server came to me only once to take the order during my time at Hinode, which was quite a while. I ordered 2 rolls and a pair of nigiris and I was waiting for my order for 35 min, no single server came to check on me or refill the water. After I received the order from the chef (he was behind the kitchen bar) and finished eating (it was quite good!!!), I was looking to order the desert. I stared at the void to attract the server for good 3 min, nobody came and sushi chef behind the bar took my order. Then the desert came in (again through the chef, not through the server), however the server never came to take the plates away, so there was no space to put the desert down. I was trying to politely look at the server to make them come to the table to take plates, but they never reacted, so I had to raise my hand and call them. They took away the plates, and I asked for the water refill. The refill came 15 min later after they brought me the check... Sushi was tasty. Small menu and a little higher priced than average. Went for lunch on a sat afternoon and learned there's a much more affordable lunch menu when the table behind us requested it. We had already eaten and paid so didn't do us much good. After a little research, one order at our table was on the lunch menu at a better price and we were charged full dinner price. Felt a little strange that they aren't offering this menu to each patron. They should reevaluate that practice. read more

This is a family owned and run local small business, and it just might be the best sushi in Central FL.. I've been coming here for over 2 years now and when I want sushi I wait until I can get it from Hinode. There are several little things that most won't notice, the seaweed salad isn't a pile of over dressed soggy greens (there's actually a hint of red pepper flake that gives it a hint of heat and contrast). The soup, often an afterthought that's simply thrown out as a small bonus, is quite tasty and refreshing. The sushi has ALWAYS been remarkable in quality and the chef (whom is often the owner) tries to procure actual specials when available. They use actual fresh wasabi root, not the cheap powdered version, and you can certainly tell the difference. This is not your pre-prepped quick serve high volume crap shot, everything is made to order and everything generally has it's own unique touch. If they're busy you may wait, that's why God created beer and sake, and it's always worth the wait. I can't wait to go back! It's significantly underpriced for the quality, I've paid much more for much less in the area. read more

My wife and I have tried this place twice in the past week and both times exceeded our expectations. We love the the variety of choices they have on the menu for sushi rolls and look forward to eventually trying them all. "That One Roll" contains a combination of ingredients combine in a way I have never heard of. I also tried the Uni and it tasted so fresh that it must have been delivered that day. I was shock how reasonable priced the Uni was. My wife loves the Burrito roll and I agree it is a must try for any sushi lover looking to try a simple twist. Finally I would have to say it's the plate presentation that sets this place apart from the other sushi places for us. Each sushi plate gets presented with a unique flower decoration which is something I haven't seen before. With a causal atmosphere and reasonable pricing we will definitely be regular customers. read more

I tried Hinode tonight with my family. We sat at the sushi bar to get a close up of a professional at work. It turned out that one of the two chefs was the owner who was clearly conscientious about his new restaurant. We ordered miso, gyoza, nigiri, sashimi, and two specialty rolls. The flavors were near perfect. To say the Roll on Fire, a specialty roll whose two main ingredients are lobster and fillet mignon was delicious, is an understatement. The texture of light tempura mixed with thinly sliced fillet and mildly spicy sauce made this role exceptional. The yellow tail tuna was easily as good as anything I have had in any part of the country and outside the country. It was so fresh and tender it nearly melted in my mouth. One small, but important detail is the ginger. I prefer natural ginger (not pink) and Hinode served it. If you are in the Oviedo area and like sushi, do yourself a favor and try Hinode. read more

This is my favorite sushi spot in Oviedo. The lunch specials are fantastic values. I've dined in and taken out and both experiences are great. The dining room is comfortable and artfully decorated, and service was fantastic. The to-go orders are just top notch. Hot items are bagged separately from cold items and the containers are high quality plastic dishes with clear lids that allow you to easily determine which dish is which. We sat at the the sushi bar and our Wow wow roll was amazing! We switched it up a bit (Sushi Chef's suggestions) and it was so delicious! The Sushi Chef was engaging. So I have been to this restaurant at least once after every change of owner. Sad that the others didn't last long but it was for a reason. They all sucked. The new owners really hit it on the head this time. I went with my mother for an early dinner meal and ordered fried scallops which were not seasoned and drowning in oil. Thankfully, it was the only bad part of the meal. Wait staff was attentive and the sushi chef checked on us a few times during the meal. We ordered the tuna tartar and it was awesome. I wish it was served with a wedge of lemon (missed a little of acid) which would have put it over the top but the tuna paired with the avocado was great. I would consider serving it a little differently as placing bite sized portions 2 pringle chips really cheapens the experience. The 2 sushi rolls were great and I'm going completely blank on the the names of them at the moment but the fish was fresh and presentation was on point. Overall, the price point matched and now I can get my sushi closer to home. read more

They have a really reasonably priced lunch menu that has some filling "combo meals", and the sushi has been really good both times.
