It is so frustrating when you book a hotel months in advance and when you arrive they overbook and give your room away. When we arrived to check in we were not told of the change. We went to our room to discover 2 queen beds instead of the king we booked. I head downstairs to the ask about the incorrect room. I was told it's the same room just with two beds...want to pull my hair out. They state sorry, have that's all I can do for you. The beds were supposed to have adjustable mattress as advertised. We call downstairs again...oh we changed that mattress, have a great day they say again.. I enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. Not only was it super close to the airport, it was within a short drive to a lot of great Fresno/Clovis restaurants in the area. The Pros: - Free wi-fi - Neutrogena products for soaps + shampoos - A nice fitness center with weights, cardio equipment and more... - Complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate throughout the day - Cheap breakfast buffet in the morning - Keurig coffee machine in all of the rooms - An abundance of free parking - Large, comfy lobby area - Small pool + hot tub for when it's warm - Spacious and clean rooms The Cons: - First level rooms can be a little loud. I wasn't far from the lobby and could hear the music from time to time - The walls are paper thin - I was staying next to an elderly couple that fell asleep with their television on full blast... so I awoke to some heavy blasting action movie at 1am. - Some of the Garden rooms look into an alley - not the best of views... - The hot water in the shower is tempermental - sometimes it's really hot, sometimes it's luke warm The pros definitely outweighed the cons and I'd stay here again when I come back! read more

Decent experience at this hotel. Stayed here 3 times in the past several months for work and so far the experience is decent. The location is actually kind of shady, there are some shady looking folks walking around and loitering around the hotel. Also the back of the hotel parking lot has some suspicious looking vehicles that looks like they wont even start. The inside of the hotel is nice, and clean. Easy check-in and out transactions. Tried complaining to the front desk and he offered to sell me some different coffee. Also had problems with temperamental shower control as reported by others. Very nice, reasonably priced hotel. I have stayed here twice with my boyfriend and his mom and I have enjoyed it both times. Lobby is nice with pleasant decor, rooms and great with comfy sleep number beds (although we couldn't really figure out how to use them), and rooms are clean and well kept. Also, they put up cute little signs in the elevators! One time they had a "Guest of the Day" poster, and the next day they had a "Welcome ____ ____ High School!" because a bunch of marching band kids from my school stayed there. It was really cute and a nice touch! Free wifi! Always a plus! :) Location is also nice because it's right off the freeway. Definitely enjoyed my two stays here and if I'm ever in the Fresno/Clovis area, I'll probably consider this place! read more

This is one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, and will probably keep us from considering Hilton in the future. They have everything screwed up with regards to their handicap accessible rooms, initially putting us in a regular room and then insisting for almost 4 hours that it was a handicap room. I called several times asking that they get me in contact with a manager, who they said was unavailable on the weekend. Finally an assistant manager, Adrian, came on site, and after telling him that there was zero ADA compliance in the room they gave us, he showed me an accessible room that was on a maintenance hold because a light fixture wasn't working. The new room had everything that it should have, grab bars, area to maneuver a wheelchair, etc. So at 9:30pm we packed up everything and moved with our infant up to the new room. Adrian told us that he would comp our first night for the inconvenience and give us vouchers for breakfast and dinner. We already had a room rate that included breakfast, but they brought us additional breakfast vouchers anyway, but we never saw any for dinner (it really didn't matter because we had other plans anyway). I think they need to do a better job of promoting how to adjust the beds, because I had no idea until I was researching them for this review that they were even adjustable! Not once did an employee mention it when I checked in, nor was there anything in the room describing it, and in fact the control is on the mattress under the sheets, so you wouldn't know it was there if you weren't looking for it. The last person to use my bed must have had it cranked all the way up because it was hard as a rock. The rest of the stay was ok in regards to the room, but when I went to check out and make sure the bill was adjusted, there was nothing about comping the night. We had to get on the road and couldn't wait for them to figure it out. The staff was extremely hit or miss, Adrian was helpful with the move and getting us into the right room, even though it ended up being very late at night for our son, but then didn't follow through on his other promises. The front desk receptionist who I originally explained the problem with the room to was so unhelpful, she kept insisting that was a handicap room without seeing it, because her "system says it is" and took way too long to connect us with someone who could help. The rate was reasonable at $99 a night with breakfast, and I'm sure we would have had a totally different view if we had been put in the correct room from the start. However, out situation shows just how disorganized they are and how their customer service lacks when things don't go according to plan. If they had never moved us, and kept insisting that was an accessible room, this would be a complaint to the DoJ for ADA compliance instead of a Yelp review! read more

This is a four story Hilton Garden Inn. The lay-out is standard when you walk to any Hilton Garden Inn. (Unless it's one of those HGI that Hilton bought that turned into a HGI) The staff when I checked-in were very friendly and had smiles all around. The room I got faced the strip mall and had a wonderful view of the bank of america and a local liqour store ( I'm being sarcastic on the view) Each room has its own A/C unit which is pretty much standard in most hotels. I would have like one that didn't make that much noise and placed right next to the desk. But this is very minor. The room had beds that you can adjust the firmness. I don't really don't feel the difference. Maybe, I'm just old skul and like my bouncy bed. The room has dark wood furniture and the bathroom is pretty nice. My concern for most hotels that I stay in is that the label on the temperature control in the shower is either wrong or just non-existant. Hilton always has great customer service. I had a call from the customer service minutes after I checked-in to make sure that I was happy with my room. If you are a hilton honors member, you get two water bottles. And if you are in the higher level member, your breakfast is free. It's a pretty good breakfast. The property is near to many restaurants. From your basic fast food, sit down dinners and asian restaurants. read more

This is a nice, fairly new HGI. The neighborhood is OK. Especially for Fresno. It isn't amazing, but there are plenty of good restaurants nearby, and a Starbucks with a drive-through just a few blocks down Shaw. (which is great, because HGI breakfast service takes forever and is expensive) Free wifi (at least free for HHonors Gold-Diamond, not sure about regular), and it was faster than many. 's old and there's a nice 2 month Old Townplace Suites next door ended up going there because they had no hot water they had a front desk person that has maturity of a grape was not able to handle a few questions another millennial participation award client. I just wasn't treated well and who cares that I am a Diamond. I would instead go to the Towneplace Suites they greet you thank you for being Titanium Elite frequent traveler , got my late check out and just like to go through that hassle at hilton when they have someone at the front desk who can't be mature and have a discussion if there's no hot water in the room, and your mad at the guest, because their upset it's awfully strange you should be apologizing for no hot water in room. My company booked my room here as I am on a business trip. My room is super clean and comfortable. The air conditioning works perfectly and there has always been hot water for showers. The towels are fluffy and wonderful. I had salad and a glass of wine at the bar tonight. Gino, bartender, could not been nicer and my salad was fresh and cold. It was so good. Gino was the best - friendly and kind and funny. Their computer system was down and my bill had to be paid for at the front desk. Heather was swamped but kept her cool with all the check ins while she checked me out. I would have been so stressed but she was amazing - and so nice. I have to agree with what the other reviewers have mentioned, the area is questionable, but the hotel still feel safe in the service is great. It feels like your standard Hilton Garden Inn. The hotel is clean, safe, has a very friendly front desk staff, and provides you a complimentary coffee downstairs in the morning. There is also always a bowl of fresh fruit downstairs for you to pick out, they also provide ice cold water, and also have cookies out during the afternoon. My room was clean and spacious. Amenities provided work great. The area, as mentioned before is questionable. Let me just tell you, there are plenty of liquor stores. There is also a Walmart nearby, and plenty of eateries. Nothing too fancy though! I have walked around this area before, in broad daylight, and have always felt decently safe. However, I have been honked at a few times. Which I know could freak some people out. Nothing exciting. If you plan on staying here. You'd probably want to make sure you have your own car. They are decently close to Sequoia National Park which is only about an hour and a half away. They are also about 3 and 1/2 hours away from Yosemite National Park. You can stock up on your items from the close by Walmart. Again, it's great Hotel, but the area is questionable. Not on safe! There's just, plenty better. read more

While I stayed in this hotel I didn't enjoy my stay or experience. The rooms are ok but when I go down to front desk in the midday I noticed some employees on the cell phone, I also see the kitchen and the housekeeping wearing uniforms but front desk don't have uniforms they wear shorts or something not appropriate for the work. they are very unprofessional!! I wanted to order dinner but I see the chef lady dancing and talking with front desk so I didn't order because I waited for too long for service! House keeping stole a backpack out of my room containing some very expensive items, and after reporting the incident to the police, the hotel staff became very rude and uncooperative. At one point a staffer named Adrian even lied to our booking agent in an attempt to withhold a refund for our night. $6,000 in personal property stolen, and they threw a fit over $100. Couldn't even muster an apology. My brother in law, a Diamond member due to his work travels booked a room for two nights. I checked in late 11:30pm traveling from So. Cal and the reception man Zack was waiting, knowledgeable and friendly behind the plastic barrier. He was very accommodating and super nice. I was set to check out Sunday Sep 20 but had car problems and needed a room for another night. Katie was behind the desk now and she really was nice about getting me set up in another room at a preferred rate. Rooms were nice, beds comfortable and bath terrific. Horrible hotel. Similar to many of the other yelp reviews, the hotel was not anywhere near Hilton standards. The shower had hair in it and wouldn't drain. Horrible beds. Worn out furniture in dis-repair. The grill/breakfast area was out of nearly everything on the menu (pancakes, French toast). It took nearly 40 minutes to get scrambled eggs. Coffee was out. The worst was that I got a $250 bill 2 days after I left with a charge of "room damage." I called and they said that we damaged a pillow on a sofa. After we said that we did no such thing, they emailed me a photo of a sofa and said that they did an investigation and that the "charge would stick." I sent an email asking for an explanation addressed to their manager. No response. Worst hotel experience I have ever had. read more

This is my third time staying here, and in all honesty, with all the traveling I do, this hotel is one of the cleanest hotel's I've ever stayed at- hence my return month after month. I already appreciate that its a 'newer' of the HGI's--and I love the way you max out with points accrual, esp if you are Diamond :) sparkle, sparkle. :) I almost feel like I don't have to lysol the room at all, though of course, I do LOL. It may seem picky, though I love that they have fitted sheets on the beds, not like every other hotel that only puts the flat sheet on the mattress--it makes a difference!! Another great stay in Clovis... it's the only place we stayed for my daughter's 4 years at Fresno State. The staff is always very nice. I love that they have a small bar for us all just to hang out. Let's just start with the bad... The hotel uses an on-demand hot water system that provides hot water that fluctuates wildly. You'll be tepid one moment and scalded the next. My bathroom door looks like someone was hanging on it because the frame is displaced and it just swings open unless it's closed. The lighting master switch, designed to turn everything off at once, only turns off the entry light with has a switch right next to the master. There is a thermostat on the wall that doesn't control anything. The unit under the window has its own controls. The restaurant was out of three of six entrée items on the menu and the chef failed to share this with the staff. And typical of HGI's they have little or no american whiskey at the bar. The breakfast was good. Made to order eggs and really thick bacon. Fruit was fresh; not that bagged stuff Hampton puts out. In conclusion, don't stay here with kids (scalding issue) and eat dinner out. Though based on yelp reviews of local restaurants you'll have drive a bit to find something descent. read more

As a business traveler that does 100 days a year on the road, I have an appreciation for the little things. Like location, proximity to the city's attractions and good places to eat. Bonus points for a staff that shows an interest in me as a customer. The Hilton Garden Inn in Clovis pulls it off. Nicely furnished rooms and broadband access. Ice cold air conditioning is needed here. Swimming pool was great for after work because this part of the Central Valley get hot. Congenial and engaging front of house staff. Bar and restaurant on the premise. I only used the restaurant once. Or rather I made an appearance. This was for the free breakfast afforded to Hilton Honors members. Unfortunately the morning breakfast scene didn't work out for me. The server never came to my table and she was overwhelmed with all the folks sitting down for breakfast. If you are staying in the Fresno area- go to Clovis and stay at this hotel! This hotel seems to have a lot of people traveling for business purposes, we stayed in this area for a Yosemite trip. The area of this hot is better than most- and is within a good driving distance of many restaurants, fast food places, stores, a nice shopping mall, and of course STARBUCKS! Which is only two-three blocks away. They accommodated us for a five night stay the night before we had to check in (we had to get out of our first hotel because it was so horrible). Not only were they very pleasant, and accommodating, the entire staff was consistently friendly. We ate breakfast some of our mornings there- it was super quick and really good! No complaints with our room- it was well kept, up to date, and smelled wonderful each time we returned :) (fresh linen smell). They have a nice outdoor area to sit- a nice pool and hot tub, and a fitness center. There always appeared to be some people in their bar area too. Overall, this place was really nice, quiet and clean! Looked forward to returning after our long and adventurous days. read more

Extremely disappointed...I booked multiple rooms for my employees and myself at more than $250 per night, per room! I asked "Avy" if they had any group discounts and she very rudely responded with, "Nope, that's the price." When we got the room, they charged $2 for a bottle of water! You'd think for $250 a night they could throw in a bottle of water. The next morning I was expecting, especially for the cost of the room, a complimentary continental breakfast like I receive in every other hotel we stay at, but no, the continental breakfast was another $10! And if you wanted something cooked, it was at least an additional $10 more! When my employees came down for breakfast, all of them complained about how uncomfortable the beds were, one of them said there TV didn't work, and the other said he did not have hot water. The only bright spot in the stay was our breakfast server, "Shantel". She knew we were not happy with our stay, yet maintained a high level of customer service and displayed a tremendous positive attitude. Unfortunately in this case, life is NOT better at the garden. read more

Questionable neighborhood, the smell at entry doors is nasty enough to cause you to think about the health concerns of being here, I don't know what that smell is but it is awful when you are outside and fades away when you get inside. The rooms don't really look out over the parking lot so if you have a nice vehicle you might not like the parking situation considering the proximity to rough neighborhoods nearby. The building is pretty new and seems to be well appointed and clean. Noise wasn't an issue in the room and the outside smell isn't noticeable inside. The room seems to be clean and maintained but getting luggage in was not pleasant at all, the doors close aggressively both room doors and exterior entry doors are difficult with the worst luggage carts I have ever seen in my life (I've seen most of the US and over forty countries) these carts are three wheel half carts and they don't steer well at all, they don't go over entry thresholds well and everything seems to want to fall off when trying to get in the building then again when struggling to use the elevator and then yet again when getting out of the elevator and the worst is trying to hold it all together and get in your room. If there was better luggage carts and visible security staff and cameras this place would be much much better. As it is I will avoid it in favor of the other Hilton on Clovis Avenue that has normal luggage carts and a much better/ safer neighborhood. I haven't tried breakfast at this location but I am guessing it's above average based on what I have seen. The big one star issue is the luggage carts are incredibly irritating and unless you travel without luggage unavoidable. EDIT/Continuation.... There is NO COMPLIMENTARY breakfast. Also worth noting is the very unusual extremely firm mattresses. Camping or sleeping in your car might be a better way to go. read more

It has been a positive experience as far as their rooms interior and comfort, cleanliness, location and exterior. I stayed here while I was moving into my new place in Fresno and I needed time to get furnitures and etc, when I started my college here at Fresno State. Customer service for their front desk seems very cold and needs to be more friendly (the front desk assistant was just not smiling and was not warm) -this is not isolated to this hilton, it has been a case for other Hilton too, so I'm guessing this is a nationwide Hilton hiring and management problem with its human resources. Their room is clean and everything looks new and well kept, the room had no weird smell. The linens were white and the beds was very comfy and soft. The amenities of the bathroom seems very basic for any 3 star hilton hotel standard. The shower was clean and very good. Room service was prompt when called. This hotel is located in a no view area and mighty be a bad impression of Fresno if this was your first time staying in Fresno, I did at first but I was wrong, because this area around the hotel doesn't have much to offer, and shaw isn't the most presentable avenue for Fresno. Believe me Fresno has much more than just what you see when you stay here. The gym was very basic, good for cardio but bad for weight training, because they were lacking with any weights. The pool looks very nice, I did not try it though. The main lobby was nice, but I hate the touch of the tiles makes it very tack looking. Knowing that this hotel is close to Yosemite, the lobby should resonate that look of wooden floor and rock work and lovely fireplace. They did have a fire place just didn't feel very warm. read more

Bad experience with both front desk workers on duty. We booked 3 rooms using a government rate and when we showed up they told us they wouldn't honor this rate as we were not on business, ok no big deal except the person helping us was rude about it and the other worker chimed in with rudeness also. My wife told them what she thought and apologized a minute later and one of them shook her head side to side, also no big deal until the rest of our party showed up and they gave them the government rate without even asking for ID and smiled at my wife and said there is nothing they could do for us. This hotel is conveniently located close to the freeway. The hotel lobby is very clean and well kept. I do not know how the rooms are because I did not stay here. I came to attend a business meeting here. I can say that the food they served us for lunch was not as good as I hoped. They set up the various breads, meats, and other toppings for each individual to make their own sandwich. All the ingredients were rather bland. The salad was good though. The soup ran out so they went to get more. The soup that they came back with was cold!! Seeing as we were here for a food and beverage seminar, being served cold soup is not a good thing! There were some cookies for dessert. They tasted good and fresh. Really, other than the cold soup, the hotel was fine. If I needed to stay overnight in the Fresno/Clovis area, I would book a room here. Just don't order the soup. read more

Have stayed at this Hilton twice now, it's a very convenient spot for those camping out near Kings Canyon or the Sierra National Forest. The first time there was a mix-up regarding the billing, however the management more than made up for it. Great customer service, good breakfast (though not included), and very well-maintained. Everything felt new and luxurious. The surrounding area doesn't have a ton to walk to, but there's some good restaurants within driving distance. I've stayed at a minimum half dozen hotels in the San Joaquin Valley, and this one has been the nicest so far by a long shot, at comparable prices. I would definitely come back again. read more

We stayed at this hotel for a basketball tournment. The lobby looks great but the room was disaster. There were huge AC fans right under the window . We couldn't sleep the whole night. I complained about it and the front desk promised me to change my room the next day but that never happened. The Manger texted me after one of his front desk guys send me a very unprofesional text and informed me that he is gonna talk to his team first thing the next morning. I see Sophia made a positive comment about Albert but in my case he was the person who never followed up on his promise to change the room. i will never ever stay in that hotel again.I wish I could show the picture of the Ac fans right under the window and let you be the judge. read more
