This hotel is in a great location if you're interested in visiting the downtown area. It can be missed as it is tucked in back off of Clovis & Fourth. I arrived around 10:30pm and the front doors are unlocked. It is not the most secure hotel. When I walked up to the check-in counter there, it took a few minutes for the clerk to notice I had walked in. The clerk was behind a desk with his head down. Checking-in was no issue after signing a form and providing a credit card for incidentals. I was checked into a room on the 3rd floor. There is a large ceiling vent running extremely loud 24hrs a day. It's about a loud as a small Honda generator, which makes it difficult for a good night sleep. I posted a video for reference. Although the room is a bit dated, it is was in good shape. My bed was clean and fresh. As for the shower, it was clean but the cleaners missed a used bar of soap which was a little nasty. If you are into working out, the gym leaves a lot to be desired. It's a very small room out by the swimming pool. It only has a treadmill, elliptical & a small cable machine. There is also a washer, dryer and bathroom in the same room. All in all, it wasn't a terrible experience. I would definitely stay away from the 3rd floor if I stayed here again. read more

We were in Clovis to a puppy and decided to at this location which was centrally located to the downtown area. On arriving James greeted us with a warm welcome and had so suggestions on things to do in the area. He suggested that we salsas a restaurant within walking distance which was outstanding and we also attended the Clovis parade. The room was clean and comfortable we have no complaints. I have stayed at many best western and this had the best breakfast of any of the other locations we have tried. All in all James and Best Western made our stay pleasant. read more

What's crazy is another coworker staying there complained of their room smelling but she switched his room out no problem 10 minutes before I asked. But me? I got the excuse "we're fully booked". So I leave for a bit, come back at night and tried to find the source of the smell and lo and behold, it's the ac unit covered with mold spores. The outside vent had a few spores but the inside of the vent is completely covered in spores. Went back to front desk and let the employee (night employee at this point) know what I found and even showed her a picture and she agreed, it was not okay and that I could talk to the manager the next morning for a room comp or SOMETHING. I had to sleep in another co-workers room as I have asthma and already began to have breathing/headaches. Next morning I go and talk to the manager and that was an unpleasant experience. I checked out a day early but not only will she not provide me a full refund (because it's 3rd party) but she also wouldn't provide me a receipt after I was told at check in I would receive one. So I have no evidence to show my check out or any documents showing what occurred. Another coworker also found mold in their room. Horrible experience, never coming back. The best thing about this place is the location (close to Old Town which is charming). I had a lot of bags and told the clerk at the desk. He said I could take one of the carts to go get my luggage. We were checking out real estate in the mountains with kids and needed a safe place to stay with a pool that didn't break the bank. We chose the City of Clovis to stay for a night. This hotel is in a good area and met everyone's needs. When we walked in we were told walk-in rate was $181 per room. We walked out and sat on the grass at the park next door and messed with our phones. My son is obviously better at the internet than I ( it's the generation) and found a rate of $120 per room for this hotel on a sms only website called Supertravel. I was skeptical but it worked out great! We checked in with the lower price! Do this! Even if you are more like me and it's just weird... do it! Saved serious dough! The hotel was fine. Pretty basic. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Breakfast in the morning was pretty darn good! Beds were comfy and you can see your vehicle from your room if that's something that's important to you! Location allows you to stroll historic downtown Clovis. So to sum it up. Decent hotel, good experience, but do not pay best western prices. Use those travel sites. read more

This is a great hotel for the price point. Rooms and common areas are clean and well maintained. Front desk staff was accommodating and friendly. Pool and spa were in good shape. There was used pool towels left on chairs and tables which cheapened the look of the outdoor space a bit .... having a container in the area for these would be an easy fix. Breakfast was great. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bagels, waffles, cereals, biscuits, gravy, coffee, juice, smoothies, pastries etc. Easily a $25 per person value included in the price of your room... The room was very spacious (and clean). Patio, fireplace (whaaat?), and even a wet bar. Definitely worth upgrading to a King bed to get all the space. Free breakfast included potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausage (sliced links one morning which were actually really good, and patties another morning that were over salty). There was also toast, bagels, waffle maker, and of course coffee. There was also juice and vitamin water. Staff was nice whenever we interacted. We were granted late check out (noon), but the key stopped working (would have been nice to have known that). Luckily there was a worker who noticed and was able to confirm that we had late check out and also was able to let us in. There was plenty of parking as well. We were disappointed that the pool was closed "until further notice" without any prior warning. Not that it's a deal breaker, but it was triple digit temperatures during our stay so it would have been nice to have access to it. read more

Location is great and the outside of the building is nice... oh the bed is comfy but smells like detergent. and I guess a fireplace in the room was nice with a balcony you can sit out and enjoy. The breakfast was good too. but the room is completely outdated the carpet is gross the curtains are ancient. the wall AC kept me up all night: making noise even if it wasn't on and was super loud when it was. It was just a room you don't want to be in at all. And then the bill was like $200 something for a night in that disgusting room. Showed up at 4 for check in and was told that our room was not ready i stressed the importance of getting into our room so we could get ready for our event that starts at 4. This is a perfectly located motel in downtown Clovis. I can see why they are able to charge the rates they do. You can walk to many restaurants and/ or nearby businesses. I did note some maintenance things in my room, but the bed was perfect for sleeping. I was on the bottom floor near the office and unfortunately for me, a particular work crew figured everyone should be up by 5 getting ice, etc. The breakfast room is very small, so you'll have to be patient if it's busy. The food is your typical standard fare you'd expect, but it's nice that it opens at 5 AM if you do need to get going early. But don't be like the work crew in paragraph two! read more

Wish I could give zero stars to this place. My daughter and I arrived from LA after midnight on a Friday and didn't finish our am Saturday work until noon. We called to extend the check out time and arrived back at the hotel just after 12. After we packed up our stuff we had hoped to swim in the pool for a few minutes since it was 93degrees outside. We went to the front desk to check out and ask for towels. Carol the manager, refused to give us any towels for swimming and asked us to leave since we had already checked out. She was rude and dismissive and when I asked her staff for her name, they gladly gave me her card. I stay in hotels all the time w my family and have never been spoken this way. My work had a conference nearby so they put all of us up here. Check in was easy even with a large group. I got a corner room on the first floor. The room was clean and spacious enough. It had a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The bed was comfortable and came with 3 pillows. It was really hot that day and the AC worked great. The shower was clean and sufficiently powerful. There was a full length mirror on the back of the bathroom door and it faces the toilet so you will no longer wonder what you look like when you poop. A coworker of mine complained about bed bugs in her room. I did not notice anything in mine. The staff was polite and even kept water and snacks for us behind the counter. We have 2 more conferences in town and I would stay here again. read more

You'd probably figure this to be an about average stay but after being in quite a few best westerns in other parts of the US, this is one of the better ones. The price may be a bit more than I'd normally feel comfortable spending but it's in a good area, close to a few spots for some nightlife but it's just off the path so not too much traffic or noise. The staff seems nice and helpful, the room was very clean, well stocked and well presented when we arrived, and the continental breakfast had more options than I would've expected. It included make your own waffles, decent scrambled eggs, different juices, coffee, water, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, yogurt, etc. It was a good assortment all of mid level quality. I would probably stay again but if I could get a slightly lower price, at 120 a night, it felt a bit high but with decent amenities. PS. Please stock the rooms with a water bottle or two read more

We went to Fresno for a wedding and I forgot to book the hotel room until a week or so before. This was the first hotel recommended on the wedding website list, so I checked it out. $100 bucks a night on a Saturday? Done and done! From the moment we drove up to the hotel, we were impressed. It's a pretty, charming, older building, but the interior is completely modernized. Abundant parking and lots of trees. There is a cute breakfast dining area, but sadly, I did not get to experience the breakfast or the pool, since we pretty much used this place as a crash pad. Our room was very clean, air conditioned, with a vanity and a sink outside the restroom (I love sinks outside of the bathroom area so that you can still brush your teeth or wash your face even if someone is handling their business and might be in there for a while), a minifridge, and a microwave. There was free wifi too, but we didn't use it and I cannot attest to the quality. The morning we were about to leave, I woke up with an irritated, swollen eye. My boyfriend called the front desk to ask for eye drops, and they didn't have any, but were very helpful and offered recommendations. They were super nice and understanding about letting us stay a little while longer after checkout because of the ordeal. When we checked out, the front desk host asked about my eye, and then told us that even though we missed breakfast, he would bring us some bagels, pastries, and fruits. How sweet! I really enjoyed staying here and the wonderful service. I'd be back if we were ever in the area again. read more

We were visiting family Thanksgiving Day in Fresno, and they suggested I might be safer at the Clovis Cole than another Best Western in Fresno I was considering. We reserved our room and called ahead to get answers to specific questions we had about the facilities. Everyone seemed helpful in answering our questions. We got to the motel around 9 PM and easily found handicapped parking. We got a room on the third floor close to the elevator. Compared to other Best Western motels where we'd stayed, this one was disappointing. Although the beds were comfortable, the layout of the room with two queen beds wasn't convenient. The closet was by the door. The toilet and tub were in a separate room across from the sink. Normally when I visit a Best Western there are one or two small bars of soap at the sink and a larger one for the shower. We could only find the larger shower bar which we had to move to the sink. Fortunately, we didn't need the tub or shower for our short trip, since the shower cap usually provided by a Best Western wasn't there, either. All I saw in the bathroom for our use were some bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and I think some lotion. There was a hair dryer and an iron. The whole bathroom arrangement was awkward, since the sink area was small. The TV was on top of a chest of drawers between the sink area and the small round table with two chairs which was close to the window. It was an awkward arrangement. Those were small faults I didn't lose any sleep over, but I did lose lots of sleep due to the unusual wall thermostat. The directions on how to use it were sparse on the device itself. I couldn't figure exactly would happen with the up and down arrows next to the symbols -- a fan, snowflake (I think) and one for heater off. When I walked in it was too warm and the number 75 was showing. I wanted to turn the temperature down to 68, since I was sweating. I kept pressing the down arrow to get down to 68 and I could see numbers moving but the minute I took my finger off the arrow the 75 showed again. Written instructions in the notebook on the desk would have been helpful. I had no way to tell if the thermostat was actually set for the temperature I wanted except to wait and see if it got cooler. My home thermostat shows two settings: a top one with the current temperature and another under it for the temperature at which to turn on the heat or A/C. We finally opened a window to try to cool the room more quickly, but that turned on a very cold fan right beside my husband's bed and he's the one sensitive to cold. He fell asleep while I sweated. When he woke temporarily, I called the front desk for further instructions and I finally got the the temperature down enough to sleep. I had called earlier but the first person hadn't explained it as clearly. I woke too early, very tired. We made it down for breakfast around 8:15. The breakfast selection was pretty good for a continental breakfast. There were were a waffle maker, hot scrambled eggs, cubed potatoes, and/or biscuits and gravy. In addition there were fresh fruit, cold hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cold cereal, bread slices to toast, muffins, and Danish pastries to choose from. There may have been more I have missed. The paper plates were the same size as the waffles and it made cutting the waffles awkward, especially since the table wobbled when I tried to cut the waffles with the plastic knives. I appreciated the coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juice bar being open all the time. I missed having real cups and plates. It was very welcoming to be able to get a cup of tea when we arrived on Thanksgiving night. I prefer reading to watching TV, so I left my husband in the room and brought my book to the lobby and read while I drank my tea and some juice. After breakfast in the morning we came back to the room to read a bit before leaving. I sat next to the bed closest to the window, but I kept hearing a ticking or dripping sound. I finally saw that the ceiling leaked. The ceiling paint had buffed up like a balloon. We called the front desk and it took about 45 minutes for them to get someone in to look at it. They punctured the "balloon" and I guess the manager had put a bucket there, but it was still dripping when we left. The rain had occurred hours earlier. This is the most disappointing experience I've had in my decades of visiting Best Westerns. But next time I visit this area I will probably stay somewhere else. Not sure what some people were complaining about. Yes, this place is not a 5 star luxury hotel but the rooms are comfortable (especially the beds) and staff was very friendly. There is free wifi and a complimentary continental breakfast (to those people who complained about the breakfast, google what continental breakfast means). It's a small eating area but I just picked up food for us and headed back to the bedroom! The location is fantastic as it is right in the heart of Old Town Clovis (which is an easy walk to the farmers market, shops, restaurants, bars, etc). This is one of the primary reasons we picked this hotel! The pool/hot tub are tucked along side the hotel and it was fantastic for swimming during the afternoon! Great location is about all I could say about this place... Out dated building rooms smell like mold and bleach, breakfast was very limited and closes at 9am also the orange juice was spoiled! Elevator is not to code and does not have sensors and when my mom tried to stop the door from closing by putting her arm in the doorway it closed on her! It Caused a large bruise and really hurt her! DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! I came here about 2-3 weeks ago for work and I'll let you know why not to stay here. First off, the outside looks pretty nice right? We'll wait till you get in... The place is rundown and dirty, the breakfast area has like 3 tables. Good luck trying to have breakfast in the morning. Second, the front desk person that is the manager (Carol) is a pretty pleasant individual but doesn't seem to really care about the place. You'll see what I mean. Third, I get checked in to my room (200 something) and the first thing I noticed was that it smelled like dirty rags. It smelled as if someone hang dried their clothes in the room and there wasn't proper air flow when attempting to air dry. So I do my typical inspection of "bed bugs". And guess what? I found them! I typically check the corners first then the head of the bed and that's where they were. When I went to tell Carol she was in disbelief that this place had bed bugs. She changed my room (didn't offer me anything else at all) and this is where I felt like nothing was really done. I ended up going in that room and walking right back out because at this point, I felt disgusted to even stay at this place. I get downstairs and she says "did you find bugs there too?" as if I'm being a douche bag for finding out this place is dirty. She then says she didn't even see any bed bugs in the room. So I offered to bring her up the room to show her. I show her and she ends up seeing them and she pulls the seem on the mattress and the family starts running away and she squishes them with her hand! Wow that is disgusting! I wanted to leave, period. I get to my partners office in Clovis and I'm literally stripping butt naked to see if I have any bugs on me. Thankfully I called a local exterminator to get some details on bed bugs just for reassurance. After talking with him, I get some info to call the corporate office to tell them. So I did. NOTHING was done as far as to satisfy me as a customer. They filed a report and I still haven't heard from anyone. This is just ridiculous. I will never, ever, ever, EVER; stay at a Best Western again. This was the only experience I needed to know not to stay here or at any Best Western. Bed bugs are serious. I know it's not the hotels fault per say because they didn't bring them. But they sure as hell didn't do anything to comp me for the inconvenience. read more

There are so many things that made our stay amazing! Cleanliness, hospitality, warmth of staff...The place is super cute and right on the edge of a beautiful walking running/bike path, lined with trees and benches and water stations. Magnolia trees and roses out front of the remodeled BW. A little gym with weights and a laundry set; a fabulous pool perfect for doing laps :) and it sits across the street from the CUTEST old town boutiques and restaurants, ice cream shops, coffee houses. Finally, the staff is AMAZING. We were greeted with the most sincere warmth in a long time. Michelle went over and above at all levels! James was the big draw with his fabulous personality and guidance as we called at the initial inquiry. We are going back in June! We live in LA so this was really a fabulous getaway. read more

We've stayed here many, many times over the years. This last time we just got a normal room with a king bed. Big mistake ... should have gotten the suite as we have in the past. The entryway is barely wide enough for the luggage cart, and once you get inside if you sit at the desk it's difficult for anyone else to walk behind you between the back of the chair and the foot of the bed. This new Wi-fi system is pretty awful, too. It seems that if you look away from your device for a moment, it makes you sign in again, and of course on a handheld device the sign-in page is tiny. Why does anyone do this with all the modern ways of making a responsive web page? Mystifying. I think our T-Mobile LTE was faster than the Wi-fi. Thanks to Gavin Newsom, you get a carry-out bag instead of a real breakfast. Parking during the day can be an issue because local businesses park in the hotel parking spots even though there are signs asking them not to. By late afternoon, parking is no longer a problem, though. read more
