When a bed is as hard as they are here, that's all you remember. Not only did it make for horrible sleep but back pain that made the next day not much better. They are going through 'imprvements' so I'm hoping those aren't their new beds and due to be replaced because nothing can make up for a hotel you can't sleep in. read more

Well Yelp! Over 100 reviews YTD and my Yelp status taken away from over 12 years but I am still on here reviewing places! This HGI is slow down don't stop and keep driving to the nearest Hilton property that treats you nicer. I am a life time diamond customer and the benefits for staying here were zero!! The room was the room and despite not being able to get the AC to turn off the entire time not worth the price. The other thing which I find so annoying is that they don't make up your room but they post QR codes all over the room to tip the maid service? What am I tipping for doing the basic expectation? Then I asked for some extra water la and the front desk lady said to me those are only for check in only? Maybe look at the clients and see who your best customers are and treat them a little different. Don't even get me started on the skimpy breakfast and still wanting a QR code tip... read more

Alright, it's no Waldorf, but it's the Waldorf of Clovis/Fresno! Located on East Shaw, little East of Fresno State, is The Hilton Garden Inn. This hotel delivers great customer service, great parking, close location to airport/college and it's CLEAN. They serve breakfast and have a restaurant on premises for Lunch and Dinner. I travel a lot and enjoy staying at Hilton Garden Inn. They usually have nice rooms & comfortable beds. Upon arrival, the front desk was nice and accommodating and the lobby area was very nice and inviting. When I got to my room the entire experience went down hill! There was coffee stains on the walls in several places, the bed had hairs in it, another hair stuck to the mirror in the room. The shower are smelled...the bed was very uncomfortable as well. Not what I expect from a Garden Inn. I was supposed to be there 2 nights, but decided to just stay 1 night and then move on. The gym also was a joke! I wouldn't recommend this location... read more

This location is near Fresno State and a bit on the noisy side, but not too bad. You can expect a lot of activity near a college. With that said, the hotel is nice, the staff is really great especially Avy and Angela, and has fairly comfortable accommodations. Not gonna lie this is probably the worst Hilton location I've ever stayed in. They did not clean the rooms well at all and I'm second guessing staying at this hotel another night. The walls are also super thin (more than normal) I can hear everyone on my floor...literally-even the elevator. The restaurant is closed which I didn't mind too much but I am really disappointed in how this location is being unkept. It's a half step up from a motel. Think twice. read more

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Clovis before heading to Kings Canyon and Yosemite with my parents and friends. All the staff were very kind and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. In particular, the dinner we had at the Hilton Garden Grill & Bar was absolutely delicious. The chicken wings and the draft beer, General Sherman, were excellent, and the ribeye steak was outstanding. My parents and friends loved food. I wanted to talk to someone who could potentially reciprocate with buying some of what I have been staying in their properties to sell to my customers. Rooms are clean but definitely out dated. The lobby is nice and clean as well. The gym is small and did not have a full set of dumbbells or yoga mats. The restaurant closes at 9:00pm but stopped taking orders around 8:30. It is frustrating trying to order food when the posted time is 9:00. Change the time to 8:30. read more

SURPRISE! Roaches Checked in late around 10p. Went to the front desk for a key. Got it and was able to get into my room. Put our stuff down and checked out the bathroom. The hugest roach was in the skin. Startled, we screamed and it ran back into the drain. I asked to be moved rooms and was told they were sold out for the night. Next day, we come back late in the evening and the roach is back in the skink. I again ask to be changed rooms and this time they have one available ( non equivalent but I didn't mind). No issues in the second room. After reading other reviews it looks as if there are roaches are on all floors not just level 1. Warning to all - THEY HAVE A ROACH ISSUE. read more

At a time Hilton Garden Inn Clovis was at its wort disposition, I gave them a stout 3-stars. Me and my friends checked-in here at the Hilton Garden In Clovis for a night after finishing our first day of our pistol match nearby. We were greeted at the front desk with a total system failure at the hotel. This meant that they have no room (both clean and dirty) inventory, no systems for checking in or out, and no clue as to which rooms are occupied. All of these systems are reverted to pen and paper. Our group had to wait about an hour just to be checked in to our rooms. And despite of these shortcomings, they prevailed. I also feel for these employees because I was once a front desk agent eons ago, and I know the great importance of these management systems. Therefore, Hilton Garden Inn Clovis' management system failure is absolutely irrelevant to this review. The rooms where clean, with its bathroom up to spiff. The lobby was airy and inviting. This hotel has cockroaches! Arrived late, checked in- got into our pjs.... Then found two tiny roaches running in the bathroom, killed them. Hoped it was random. THEN found another crawling on the floor between our beds! It being very late, after a long drive from LA- we just wanted to sleep so we asked for another room upstairs - thinking maybe it was a ground floor issue. We went and got our room key & moved all of our things upstairs. We checked the room, it seemed ok. No roaches in sight. We get into bed & go to sleep. One of us woke up during the wee hours of the morning to use the restroom... and we find an adult roach in the bathroom. Fantastic! Now we're afraid they're in our things, paranoid about being in the shower. So, that free breakfast... yeah, didn't want to eat any of that food knowing there are roaches on all the floors of the building. If you're ok with cockroaches... it's not bad. read more

We've stayed at this Hilton Garden Inn a few times, as our oldest daughter attends Fresno State. We've never been disappointed with this Hilton and today underscores our (Wifey & I) happiness. The rooms are always consistently clean, as is the lobby. The staff at the front desk, especially Brandon, are cordial, compassionate, efficient, thorough and personable. Additionally, we often see security patrolling the grounds and there are comforting levels of building security/integrity facilitated to ensure higher than average guest safety. read more

There must be two University Square Hotels in Fresno. This one indeed was on N Cedar. Our check in date was Thursday May 29 and checkout was scheduled for June 1. Problem is, we didn't stay. In so many words this was easily the worst hotel I've ever (almost) stayed in. It was run down, the surrounding community was run down and the few patrons I saw were the unsavory type. We were assigned room 161. When we pulled up in the parking lot opposite our room, one of the 'guests' was literally sitting, looking out the second story window, while another (on the ground floor) was sliding open the window to enter the room. As we entered the hallway headed toward our room you could hear loud, profanity laced dialogue. Finally, when we approached the door to room 161 (and this is not an exaggeration) there was what looked like dirty, soiled under garments lying on the floor against the door. It was at this point we decided this was DEFINITELY the place for us. Needless to say, we did not check in. Shame on Expedia for listing this property! read more

Stayed at this Inn as I was in Clovis for a training course for work. The desk clerk was very pleasant and explained the procedures for turning on the room lights, the wi-fi info and how to get to my room. The lobby was very open and inviting. I found the parking very easy and accessible to the side door which lead right to the elevators. 1 elevator was out of order, but it didn't matter much as there weren't too many people trying to use it at the same time. When I got to the room I was very pleased with the fact that there was a microwave and a refrigerator standard with the room. I was happy because I meal prepped and had food that needed to be refrigerated. I did notice and advise the front desk that the microwave plate was too big and banged around when using the microwave. I'm confident they'll fix it. When I used the microwave I was standing at the counter without shoes and there was something sticky on the floor. I had to was my feet as it felt like pancake syrup. Little housekeeping issues that are easy fixes. I would recommend this hotel if you are in Clovis. read more

Unfriendly staff, specifically Heather at the front desk because she never said hello or goodbye nor did she provide a smile, or anything other than the bare minimum. She was sitting on a chair and on her cell phone every time I passed by. Our room was placed right across / next to to the elevator. Even with only being there from 11pm - 9am on a Saturday - Sunday, the noise from the hall and elevator was unbearable. The room was gross to the point I wore my flip flops because hair that did not belong to me kept getting stuck to my feet and my belongings. 1 tiny bar of soap the size of a Hershey's chocolate piece was the only item provided to clean your entire body and hands with. Hotel was not temperature regulated we'll because it was hot throughout and it was 100+ degrees out so the hope of going inside to a cooler space was not achievable in the common areas. We did not get any info about the hotel; about where the ice was, what time check out was, any recommendations about the area. I wish I did the self check in because the whole interactions were cold, unfriendly, and a waste of time. read more

I recently stayed there for a few nights, the hotel was lovely and Gino the bartender great! However I left my keyboard in my room and didn't realize it till I traveled for two days and arrived back home. I immediately called the hotel and they said, "we've had it since yesterday." I asked why no one called, she(day manager) stated, "people leave illegal things here all the time, so we tend not to contact them." I use to work at the Auberge Resort Collections. That's the worst excuse to give another hotel person.... It's now been 5 days, they still haven't found a way for me to get it back, and expect me to pay when they weren't even going to tell me they had a $100 keyboard hanging out with housekeeping. Will not be returning, it's a shame Hilton outsourced their hotel management to another company. On a lighter note, Zach and Avy are wonderful and did help me with my stay. read more

Admittedly, I am a bit biased since I am a rewards member...so that comes with some nice extra perks. Nevertheless, similar to the SLO area or more so Modesto, Clovis does not have much in the way of anything upscale. These are simple, basic, clean, accommodations. The pluses for us were: 1- Great check-in & very polite service. 2- Decent fairly quiet room which was clean & roomy enough. 3- Fairly nice clean bathroom. 4- Basic Wifi & TV. 5- Two clean beds & comfy heating...but dry. 6- Decent price. 7- No problem with asking to stay for another night. 8- Small Frig. & bottled water 9- Good Handicapped Parking right next to entrance. 10- A much better than expected breakfast was included [based on our membership], which even included a fresh Omelet & other selections. For some reason, we did not expect this so, I at first made my own Waffle [which I did a great job at]. Thus we had more than plenty of good breakfast eats that blows away many other places. Negatives: 1- A really hard bed that killed my back...but to be fair, I used to bring in my own compressed mini-memory foam topper to use in other hotels & neglected to hassle with it. I thought incorrectly...since I do have back issues. 2- While it is basic, your come to expect a bit more out of Hilton...that goes beyond Holiday Express level. It did feel a bit more run down compared to Pismo Beaches Hilton Garden Inn. Here you just wanted to sleep, eat, and get out. There was no real urge to hang out. 3- The TV was just OK, but I think it had some sort of Dish Network & there was a long lag better changing channels. It was hard to see the channel menu. This contributed toward, the urge to get out of the hard bed & get a move on. The range of channels tended toward the basic. I had better luck with my laptop & next time I may bring an old one with a DVD player...or load another device with a movie or two. While we were kind of on the border of Clovis & Fresno, it felt fairly safe here, and not to far from either the Dim Sum place, nor our relatives place. Getting here from SLO in the rain with a dated GPS was a hassle since the highways & roads are confusing. IF you get off the wrong exit there is lots of extra driving. Clovis is busy expanding & eating farmland in the process...and not planned too well. It seems to now be a refuge from those who wish to escape SF Bay area prices...but you are really in the middle of nowhere. It takes 3 hours to get to the greater SLO area due to crappy slow roads. It takes an eternity to get to SF from here. We will surely give it another shot after we compare with either the HI Express or BW. Too bad there is no Hyatt is this area...but we have the same issue with the SLO area. At least, the prices in Clovis are around the $110 level, which is often half of the prices in our home area. We were a group that stayed here to facilitate and attend a training nearby. The rooms were really outdated which was totally what I did not expect. Their pictures on their website looks much better than what it really was. The bath tub was slippery. I slip and fell, and had to go to the ER. Receptionist wasn't really helpful and the hotel isn't kid friendly. They kept complaining about my 1 yr old crying. From all of the hotel I've stayed at, this is far the worst ever. The jury is out on this hotel. Mostly it was good and clean. My issues are minor, but I think something should be said. When I first pulled into the hotel parking lot, I noticed a 'Security' car parked by the front entrance. I wondered if the had a problem. Well, I never did see any Security, other than the car. What I did notice were several cars around the parking lot with people just sitting in them. They were not in parking areas a hotel guest would necessarily park (too far from entrances), and at 6:30pm, I doubt they were waiting for an employee. My second issue has to do with the bathroom door being spring loaded, and constantly closing. I think this was done to prevent the room to the door from being blocked. I understand, but I feel this is a very poor design. I just blocked the door open with a towel, but don't think I should have had to. Petty? Maybe. read more

This hotel is amazing!! I was staying here with my family for vacation and when we went to check our room, it was absolutely beautiful and stunning!!! Bed's were very comfortable and cozy and the pillows are extremely soft!!! Breakfast is great as well and workers are extremely nice and friendly!!! Even though there is a bit of noise from outside, their room's will make you fall asleep in no time!! read more

We went to lay down into our bed and found hair. I dont mean 1 piece, but literally all over the bed. No apology, just a we'll run new sheets up. Thats seriously gross !!! Its on the sheet, on the cover, on the bed sheet, literally ALL OVER !!! MY GF has OCD and isn't comfortable, and to find this was disgusting. She comes from San Jose 2x a month and we've been looking for a hotel she can stay at for 4-7 days at a time, hoping we find the place. I. Oh ny goodness this is hard to write. It's a very nice place but has a cockroach issue. I guess they come in from the drainpipes. It is not a hotel cleanliness thing. Staff are super sweet and it's clean but I have a phobia of roaches and one ran across my path as I went to shower and that was it for me. Staff apologized and said it was the pipes. First in for most, my room was over $200 a night which is a premium for the area the room was definitely dated and for a suite both of the beds were side-by-side. My family and I got in late last night and were woken up at 8 AM by housekeeping knocking on our door they ended up waking up my entire family far before we wanted to considering we were traveling and checked in very late in the evening. After calling the front desk to find out why, they could not provide an explanation I did not offer any form of consideration or compensation for the disturbance. I understand that stuff like this can occur but when you are paying a premium you should have a premium experience Furthermore, to top everything off when we went to get our pre-paid $15 per some breakfast, they notated that their restaurant was closed this morning so they could offer us a pack of cereal and a Cliff bar. This hotel is close to Fresno State and the Save mart center. It is easy to get to. Close to shopping, restaurants. The staff were friendly, took the time to explain the adjustable bed, the restaurant, the snack "pavilion". Breakfast is NOT free. The do place a $50 hold on a credit card at check in. This always annoys me, but they credited me back at check out. The room had microwave, fridge, Keurig coffee maker. It was clean, the AC worked great, and I had to problem with hot water. The hotel had a pool and hot tub, but I didn't use them. It has a fitness room with treadmills, ellipticals, and some free weights. The location and hotel felt safe, but the parking lot had "park at your own risk" signs up. Really? It's not like we can park anywhere else when we're staying at their hotel..... It appears hotel staff helps themselves into your room while you're out. Company and personal property was stolen from me on 10/18/21. The hotel only has cameras of the lobby, so it's a free for all for access to the elevators / rooms. The Clovis PD came out for my statement. The GM, Angela, got back to me the next day, assuring no one used the key card, and cleaning staff was "gone" 40 min after I left my room. It's upsetting you can't keep anything in your hotel room nor is anyone responsible for their own actions, what a great business to want to support. read more

This is the cleanest and nicest staffed Hilton I've ever been too! Avy was such a good help with my Hilton honors app and accommodated me with extra coffee and creamers.
