We booked the place last minute on Airbnb and I was very pleasently surprised. We brought our one year old with us too. The front desk was so nice and friendly, she even helped us with our stuff to up the stairs since you have a lot with a kiddo haha. The room was very clean and child friendly. They also had Netflix which was helpful with little one he likes his music. Service and cleanliness were great! It a such a cute little unique hotel we enjoyed it!

Let me start this off by saying if you can't climb stairs well, or can't climb many stairs, this place is not for you. There didn't appear to be an elevator and all rooms are on the 2nd floor. The woman at the front desk was pleasant and got us checked in quickly. The parking situation is okay, free street parking right in front of the hotel and there was always space available whenever we left and came back. There are a few breakfast places within walking distance, we ate at Willie's Cafe and couldn't recommend it enough. The food was great and service was too. If you're doing a later check in like us (we arrived around 7:45pm) be prepared to find no dinner options open except fast food and The Wakehouse, which is a bar. We opted to go to the bar for dinner and I'm so glad we did, because their food was fantastic and the bartender was friendly. Now onto the room: We stayed in room 1, which is roughly the size of a small household bedroom. A desk, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, bed, and ensuite bathroom are in there. The room was very clean with free wifi and a roku smart tv. In the room, there isn't a central AC but there is a window AC Unit, which took forever to cool the room down. It was 98 degrees in the room when we first arrived, and it took 4 hours to get it to 72 and another 2 hours to get to 68 where we had it set. There is a ceiling fan, but it's connected to the light and you can't turn the light off and leave the fan on. If the fan was on, that might have cooled the room down quicker but we wanted to keep the room dark to help it cool down as well. I would recommend the hotel set the AC a few hours before check in so the rooms have time to cool down before guests arrive. Lots of pillows on the bed and a relatively comfy mattress, but My husband and I were afraid to move around too much in the bed because it felt like it was about to come crashing to the floor. There is a lack of usable plugs in the room, but it was just the two of us with phones and Apple watches so we made it work on a rotation. The walls seemed to be soundproof because we couldn't hear our next door neighbor in our room, but when we stepped into the hall we could hear his tv blasting. We could however hear every time someone opened and closed their doors in hallway, and the street noise was very loud with loud motors and cars blaring their horns at all hours of the night, so that made for a sleepless night. Not to mention the train that came through at 4:30 am and sounded their whistle for a good 30 seconds to make sure EVERYONE could hear them. The bathroom: Our bathroom had a very short shower head. I'm 5'7" and had to duck to be able to wash my hair. My husband is 6'1" and was squatting in the shower to get water all over his body. Along with that came the hot water running out after 5 minutes, I was still waiting for my conditioner to finish setting when it went luke-warm to cold. It also seems like the hot water is connected to the toilets flushing because it would dip and go icy for a few seconds and then go back to warm. The light in there also activated the VERY loud fan. We kept the light off the entire time and just used the light coming in through the window to see. Overall, there were more cons than pros for us so we would likely not stay here again, but if you're a heavy sleeper or of smaller stature, a lot of this may not apply to you.

Normally I won't even waste time leaving a review for sub-par or mediocre service. This review is very necessary. I booked my stay here at hotel burgess on a third party app. When I first arrived, the front desk agent(also the owner) was outside the front door rubbing the arm of some guy who's supposed to be fixing their outside sign. She told me to be patient she'll be inside shortly. After a couple minutes I tell her it's been a long day and I'd like to check in. She immediately comes in. A small wait is no big deal. After she charged my card, she recommended I upgrade suites. She quoted me a total of $110 pre-tax for the upgraded suite, tried to have me sign a paper that said it would be 120 pre-tax for the room. As I'm asking for clarification before she charged me again, she starts reaching through the gate to hastily snatch MY receipt and tore the paper she handed to me with the upgrade information out of my hand. Very unprofessional. To top it all off, I requested she void the transactions, and she was trying to tell me she couldn't void it, but she could give me a room for that price. At this point I demanded my card back and said I'd be disputing the claims. I'm asking for my card back, she proceeded to gaslight me, saying she didn't have my card. I pulled my wallet out and she pointed at the other 3 bank cards I have, none of which are the card I used to purchase the room. I honestly think she was on something.. booze, drugs, im not sure. I will never forget way she treated me last night. Simply unacceptable. This was definitely the worst customer service I've ever experienced in all of my travels, and by the owner no less?? Needless to say, I drove to the holiday inn in Selma and their room was just what the doctor ordered. I felt the need to leave this review in case anyone else is thinking this spot may be a great find. Spend your money elsewhere, retain your peace.

Early historic 19th century restored family own boutique hotel located in the heart of Downton Reedley. A hidden gem ! Filled with Chic Victorian Era and a clean modern style atmosphere . Wait until you walk into the rooms...for now enjoy the classic and beautiful wood floors Located just approximately an hour from Kings Canyon National Park. Definitely on the hot list of places to stay.

Hotel Burgess lives up to its description as a "Living Museum". Located in sleepy town Reedley, California, this beautiful bed and breakfast is true to its word when it comes to high quality service and comfort. This historic building houses several antiques and collectibles dating back to about the early 1900's. The Victorian era deco adds to the hotel's beauty. The rooms are located on the second floor of the building. Finding street parking was easy. PROS Hotel Burgess has its own cafe which will expand (hopefully soon) into a Bar and Grill. The cafe serves Starbucks and Seattle Best. Guests have the luxury to order breakfast the night before and it will be ready for you at the cafe the following morning. The room itself was very cozy and comfortable. The bed was so comfortable; I woke up late the following day. I found the bathroom roomy. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! I felt right at home there. CONS: The lack of a mini fridge in our room prevented me from bringing home leftovers from dinner the night before. I also found that the hours to the café were too short: 6am to 9pm. Because of the antiques, the hallway had a sort of musty smell to it. However, it was not overwhelming. It was a faint and delicate odor. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. If you're in the area or passing by and need a comfortable, interesting place to spend the night(s), I highly recommend staying at Hotel Burgess.

    Tiny room.

Tiny room. Curtain do not block the light . Noise neighbor. Bad experience here. Won't come back. Feel depression stay here. Unfair treatment.

My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding and booked this place on Hotels.com. Upon arrival, the front desk attendant told us that they gave us a complimentary upgrade from Room 2, to Room 6. She let us know that they also had an upgrade available for Rooms 10 or 12. She welcomed us to look at either if we were interested. The only difference was the bed size. We opted for our "complimentary" upgraded Room 6, because we didn't want to spend any more than the already paid $80/night rate. The bed was comfortable, no complaints there, there seemed to be some bugs in the shower when I went to turn it on, which was weird. Definitely ran the water for a couple of minutes before actually getting in. Just like any other hotel, the shampoo and conditioner are low quality, it smelled funny too. I would suggest they change that, because it made my hair smell, weird. But the soap was really the thing that bugged me. It claimed to be "exfoliating" however, it just plain hurt when using it. LOL Um, I posted some pictures of the place and particularly the ones of the hall ways. Honestly I felt as though as soon as I stepped out of my room door (Room 6) there was going to be a ghost with a knife and an eye patch running after me from the end of the hallway. It was pretty scary. The décor is just as the other reviews started, from the early 1900's and most of them were for sale. There was an antique baby stroller, with baby clothes on it, and my mind couldn't help but assume it was from a deceased child. But hey, I watch WAY too many scary movies. Haha Overall, the place was good. I don't think I'll ever be staying in this city ever again. I wish the place the best of luck!

I travel to the Central Valley for work quite often and have stayed here the last two trips. I love this place. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. I really like that it's locally owned as opposed to a corporate chain. The family that runs the place is really warm and welcoming as well. I think my favorite part about the hotel is the antique fixtures and gorgeous wood floors. It's really really charming.

We proceeded to ask the front desk attendant for a room for THREE people. The girl did not seem like she knew what she was doing so she was screaming across the room asking another lady for prices and if this or that other room were available until they finally figure out which room to give us but that's when we came across the next problem, the lady did not know what THREE GUESTS meant. She kept saying that she had to charge us like another $20 extra aside from what the room already cost just in case we decided to bring another random person to the room. Like seriously lady, I was just trying to get some rest. We paid for the room, since we didn't want to keep arguing or having to drive to go somewhere else. We got to the room & the first thing I saw when I walked in was a nasty ROACH. I told the lady and instead of being helpful, she was extremely rude about it saying that I probably brought them from home. My jaw dropped all the way down to the floor. I was talking to her in the most respectful way possible and for her to respond like that. I felt extremely disappointed and offended. I had never met anyone more rude than this lady and her coworker that also kept saying rude things and speaking in their foreign language which I find very inappropriate when they are supposed to be providing us with good customer service. The room was decent in size. The bed made a lot of noise plus the AC was extremely loud as well. The toilet had some stains that could have been removed when they cleaned it. We went to sleep and as it was time to check out we decided to get another night so I called the front desk from the room to see if it was possible and how much it would be. They told me that it would be the same price as the day before plus another $20 but they needed to go inside the room to check that we didn't sneak anyone else at night while they weren't watching or that we have not been doing anything illegal in there and if I didn't accept that we would have to go look for another hotel. I said "Ok, thanks I might have to do that then" for which they responded "It's ok. Do whatever you want. I DONT CARE". I just couldn't believe the way they were treating us when we didn't disrespect them in any way. Yet we still tried to get the night and I allowed them to come inspect the room but they still decided not to let us stay because my boyfriend didn't open the bathroom door when he was taking a shower. The lady was trying to open the bathroom door and let herself in like WTF.. At that point we have had it so I told her to please get out of the room so we could get all of our stuff and leave. The lady did not wanna leave the room. I guess she expected my boyfriend to change in front of her. I threatened her with calling the cops if she didn't provide us with a little bit of privacy so we could gather everything and get going. So it was then when she finally stepped out but stayed outside the door like a guard dog just in case we decided to steal the bed or something. Finally we walked out to go to the car as she was screaming out loud to not ever go back to that hotel and then talking in her language. I'm sure she wasn't saying nice things. I have never written a review this long before but I felt like it was necessary to tell about my worst hotel stay ever SO FAR. But yes I am NEVER going back to this place again. And if you do decide to give it a try just remember. You have been warned. I hope they get some customer service training or something that can help them treat their guests in a better manner.

On top of it, the room was non-smoking and it was plain to see that the room indeed had not been altered by the scent of cigarettes. I would stay here again.
