HIDEAWAY HEAVEN: Let me start out by saying, this is my first Yelp post ever. I usually come on Yelp to gather information, but I have never posted my findings... This place made me change that. This place was AMAZING! And I could not praise the proprietress enough. My fiancé and I chose the hideaway for various reasons. More privacy, our own beach, and cheaper. My fiancé grew up in a family of Prevost owners, and I was worried she'd think the hide away was not up to her standards... I was completely wrong. She loved it! We spent our days reading on the beach, we had dinners on the large rocks that jetted out into the river. Our evenings were spent by the bond fire, and our nights filled with star gazing and sleeping to the relaxing sounds of the river. The very well maintained and manicured property set up the very definition of relaxation and perfection. I have read a total of 2 bad reviews on this place, and countless positive ones. I guess it would be an injustice not to give my input on the negative ones. Someone said "the sounds of the river were louder than the 405 during rush hour"... I don't even know where to start with it. It's a moving river which includes rapids... it makes noise. But to compare it to the chaos of the 405 is ridiculous. I would say it sounded like the beach and the waves. Except the sounds of the waves were constant not intermittent. We thought it was phenomenal. Someone said that "Mars (the proprietress) was over baring and constantly present and they felt they had no privacy. That all they wanted was privacy and the room key, and it took a half hour just to get that." That is a complete exaggeration. When you check in, she does show you the grounds and does take some time and show you're the amenities of the room... it took a total of 10 minutes. She was present throughout the weekend. But not over baring, or even noticeable. You would see her walking the grounds here and there. And occasionally check in to see how you were doing if she noticed you outside. I sum up her presence as this, she was there here and there, she was never to far when you needed her, and the couple of times when she would check in with you, she was always a welcomed site. Someone said "we were told we would get smores, but we didn't".... suck it up, spend $5 and go get them. I too read about the smores, but I decided to make the rather lavish expenditure of $5 and provide them myself. Yes, it was well worth the $5, so I recommend you bring them up too. If there was any negative I could say, it would be that we were told the hideaway came with its own bbq. In fact the bbq was a grill grate for the bon fire pit. The grill grate didn't exactly fit and rested on the coals. We had to put in 4 rocks to prop the grate up. The main house does have a gas bbq you can use, but our converted grill grate would do the trick... and I've definitely cooked on worse... but it might not be a bad idea to bring your own portable charcoal grill. In closing, this was definitely the best long weekend getaway we've ever had. We will definitely be back. Mars was an amazing endearing host and well welcomed. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel with all the bells and whistles, and massages and day spas, etc... Rio Sierra is not for you. If you are looking for the epitome of a getaway and relaxation... this place is for you. If you are looking for a camper experience with the most ideal camp spot you could find... the hideaway option is for you. When we were leaving I was trying to figure out how to put to words our weekend. I think Mars summed it up best when we checked out. She said "she could tell we got swept up in the magic of the river." There is not a better way to describe it other than that.

    Loved the hammock!

Absolutely wonderful place. Mars is fabulous and gave us all the information we needed for a wonderful stay. The place is so picturesque and serene we will certainly be back again! Only comment would be bed was a little hard for our taste. Thank you again for fabulous time!!

We came here for a quick get away from the city and to visit Sequioa National Park again. This is just the best place to stay in Three Rivers. Although we didn't get the suite nor the river view room, we were able to enjoy the river from the gardens and patio that are facing the river. Mars built fire every night we were there. This is really a PREMIUM camping. She was pleasing just about every guest. I saw that a few guests used the BBQ grill and did a steak and baked potato dinner. A family with kids were doing smores on the fire. I enjoyed the sunset, the fire the beach, and the rushing river sound and view. The beach and gardens are private, for guests only. The room was clean and unique (sort of like a B&B place). There were 2 skylights in the bathroom we were in (garden room) and 1 was on top of the tub and shower. It was cool! Next time, I will book the river view room or the master suite. Mars was very helpful with info about the delay in the nat park (due to road constructions) and the restaurants situation. She recommended Sierra Subs and Salads that was a great place to grab sandwiches. We had a picnic on this riverhouse and enjoyed our meal 'quietly' in front of rushing river. You never know when you can swim in the river. The river was very full and dangerous when we were there. But who knows a few more weeks, it may be swimable. It's nature, you know! We truly enjoyed this riverhouse. We will definitely be back!

We had wonderful three nights there. The bed is so comfortable and view of the river is so great. my son and I have good time there and enjoy swimming in the river. We'll be back!

My father passed away earlier this year, and my family wanted to celebrate Christmas out of town. We decided to go to Three Rivers and spend a three day weekend at Rio Sierra River House. What an amazing memory for my family. Mars, the owner was amazing. She treated us like family but with the impeccable service and accommodations of a five-star resort. The room was great with a balcony overlooking the river and a scenic view of the mountains. Breakfast was served promptly and was absolutely delicious. My 6 and 8 year old said it was the best Christmas they've ever had. We were allowed to bring our Christmas tree and decorate our room which was more like a three bedroom home. The staff was fabulous! Mars prepped us for our visit with additional tourist and dining information. We went to the Sequoia National Park (just a few minutes up the road) and played in the snow and saw the world's largest tree. The worst part of the trip was leaving Rio Sierra.

    Gorgeous view

The perfect getaway for a long anniversary weekend... beautiful, scenic and relaxing. We did not want to leave. Mars was wonderful, checking in with us to ensure we had everything we needed. The room was immaculate and charming. Loved the location, right outside of Sequoia NP so we were able to explore easily. I'd never been through Sequoia in the Fall, and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend for a nature "reset" from the stress of the daily grind.

It's hard to find a solid 5 star place on Yelp. Specially hotels. We had been through Three Rivers on our way to Sequoia a couple years ago and knew the area was beautiful. It was one of those last minute ideas so I called the place on a Thursday night hoping they would have an available room for the next day. Mars, the owner, picked up the phone and said she had the garden room available. She has 5 rooms, one being an RV, which looked fun. I think all of them have river views, except ours. But as much as I was a little bummed, I have to say the room was very comfortable and felt more private than the other ones. And we were INSIDE the river all day long so not having a view of it was not a big deal. The location is great, between Lake Kaweah and the entrance of Sequoia National Park. There are restaurants and little shops around the area. We found simple but really good food. Upon our arrival Mars showed us the property and our room and lent us a couple hiking guides and some maps. The next day, we woke up early and went for a hike in Marble Falls, inside Sequoia National Park. We got back, had lunch and bought wine and cheese for later. In the evening we sat by the fire, and had our wine and cheese, waiting for the stars to appear. It was really a flawless experience and just the perfect place for a quiet, romantic weekend. We can't wait to go back!

Book case in Panorama Room. There's also some board games. On the right you see towels and bathroom necessities.

Let's start with what we LOVED about this place. We stayed in the Panorama Room for one night 10/03/14 for my husband's birthday. 1. Great LOCATION...it's on the river! Beautiful and relaxing. It's like your own oasis, not crowded, play at your own risk! (You sign a safety waiver). 2. Close to Sequoia National Park (which is why we stayed here and based upon fellow Yelpers). Also, our sight seeing tour guide actually picked us up from here. 3. Friendly STAFF...from the girl who checked us in (sorry we forgot her name) to Cherry, who helped us with our t.v. issue, and the guy who checked us out. We never met Mars but she seemed nice on the phone and emails. Always quick to respond to my questions...Thank you! 4. The CATS...I loved them so much!!! Wish I was able to play with them more. The orange tabby Maine coon one reminded me of my own. They are friendly and they liked to be petted. 5. Great FULL kitchen...our intentions was to cook dinner, but it was getting late and we were tired from all that hiking and sight seeing tour stuff. So, now let's name the things we DIDN'T LIKE: 1. The SMELL...the room has a weird odor. I don't know if it's because the structure is old or the paint, but it smelled like aged wood and dust (it's hard to describe). 2. OVERPRICED...I guess I expected more from the room for what I paid for. (Maybe an air freshener, even a birthday greeting or something accommodating). 3. HARD bed...there's 2 queen beds in the Panorama room. The one on the right, when you walk in softer than the left. 4. MIRRORS...I need them! There's one in the bathroom but I need a full body one. 5. Poor LIGHTING...it's dark and there's small lamps everywhere. 6. NO SMORES!...we didn't see anyone lighting the fire-pits, and we didn't get the famous s'mores that everyone said they got. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and my hubby had a great time on the river. It was a great bday getaway.

Recently stayed in the Hideaway (the stationary RV option), and I cannot recommend that enough over shelling out more to stay in the main house. The property photos don't adequately reflect how private the Hideaway is - you are completely separated from the rest of the property, so other guests don't even see you when you're on your beach. The little bed was surprisingly comfortable, and there's now a gas grill right outside if you want to cook. Mars is such a sweet person who truly cares about your comfort and happiness when you stay there. The river sound was blissful to sleep to. I'm not big on repeat vacations but really hope that I get the chance to go back here sometime.

This place is sooooo awesome! We got the smallest room (a studio) which has a queen bed and another day bed the size of a full. The river is literally right outside your doorstep! A cute little town is walking distance with a brewery, yogurt place, gift shop with actual cute clothes and jewelry, a great restaurant and a gas station. We stayed here to go up the Sequoia National park & it was literally a 15 minute drive away. They great you with a booklet constraining all the info you need about the town... WiFi is is reliable, and lots of tv channels! We never even turned on the TV though because we have been outside the whole time. They also have a grill area open for anyone to use. We stayed during the week and I don't think anyone else was really staying here! We never saw any other guests. We wanted to stay another night we love it so much but unfortunately they are booked up for the weekend. Keep an eye out when looking for it on the road, we drove by it at first. It's a bright turquoisey blue color. Big plush nice pillows also. In our room we had a small mini fridge. 100% will be back.

So me, my wife and her mother stayed in the Birdhouse Cottage and it was absolutely perfect. Two bedrooms, a comfy couch and the cutest decorations to make it look so clean and homey. There's a little river by the cottage right on the front yard that you can sit next to and have some wine. Or you can grill in the back yard in the shade. They provide all the grilling items you'll need, it was so nice. The bathroom was huge and the shower was THE BEST. The main house that's on the river with the beach is only a 3-4 minute walk down the road. We packed up a little bag and went a couple times and it was great. They had chairs, towels, hammocks, plenty of shade and the access to the river alone was enough to make you fall in love with the place. Make sure to buy items from the market a little further down the road, great prices, that's where we got all our breakfast food and food for our bbq. Entrance to sequoia National park was only about 10 minutes. I highly recommend this place, well worth the price and will be looking at staying again next time. Thank you!!!

Room rate: $185/night…read more Positives The office staff seemed friendly. Overall, the grounds were nice. The proximity to Lake Kaweah was an added plus. The outward appearance of the motel seemed pleasant. It is also a great location to access Sequoia NP. That said, there were numerous issues. We were assigned to unit #1 (closest to the office), which I DO NOT recommend for the following reasons: 1) Initially, the hot water in the room was lukewarm at best. We asked them to adjust it which they did. It went from low lukewarm to medium lukewarm. Barely warm enough to take showers. Ironically the room instructions say guests are supposed to wash dishes before check out or be charged a fee. How clean can the dishes get with lukewarm water? Should the health and well-being of subsequent guests rely on how well previous guests wash dishes with lukewarm water? We're paying almost $200/night and have to wash dishes? 2) There is a charge for ice. Never came across this before, ever. See photo of guest instructions. We're paying almost $200/night and have to pay extra for ice? 3) Cabin/unit 1 is closest to a pen where they keep sheep and goats on site. The view of the lake is obscured by 1) the sheep pen, 2) a large bush 3) two large trees and 4) a window half covered with water spots (made even worse in the morning with glare from the morning sun. The trees provided shade, the bush didn't. Other cabins had the benefit of bushes that were trimmed for better visibility. Not sure why we got this cabin when others were available when we checked in. Several other parties checked in on Saturday (the day after we did) so other cabins were available at the time we checked in. 4) No TV remote in the bedroom. Had to download a remote app to control volume and on/off. TV instructions (in the living room) as written, did not work. The TV went dark without notice and didn't respond to the remote control. It responded to turning it off and back on - sometimes. There were other times that only way to get the TV to respond was by unplugging it, wait a minute or two and plugging it back in. These were daily issues. Multiply that by the number of days you're there and annoying doesn't begin to describe the frustration. While watching the NBA finals, the TV shutoff with 6:00 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. Wasn't able to get it to turn on again. Seriously? Note the photo of cables and extension cords hanging from the TV. Not a very neat appearance and could be a safety hazard. We're paying almost $200/night to have recurring TV issues? 5) When the toilet clogged and I reported it to the front desk, I was handed a plunger and a plastic bag to put it in afterwards. Seriously? Never cleared a toilet in a hotel before. Usually, maintenance handles that. We're paying almost $200/night and have to unclog the toilet? 6) On Saturday 6/14, we notified the office of water on the floor under the frig. On Sunday 6/15, we were in Sequoia NP all day, so the unit was available for someone to look at the frig. We arrived back at the room around 4:00 p.m. Water was still on the floor under the frig. Water was in the grout lines all over the floor. Same thing happened on 6/17. We were in Kings Canyon all day. When we got back the grout lines around the frig were wet again (see photos). If anyone looked at the frig there was no communication letting us know. We're paying almost $200/night to have recurring leaks under the frig? 7) There is an envelope in the room so that you can leave housekeeping a tip. If you're simply doing your job, that's not worthy of a tip. Given the cob webs and water spots on the windows they are not doing their job. Note - all units are single story making the windows reachable to be cleaned. Not sure why they don't clean the window during their housekeeping rounds or in between guests. 8) One window in the living room with an a/c unit had a cluster of dead insects and spider webs on the outside surface (see photo). Not the most appealing thing to look at. We're paying almost $200/night to look at dead insects and spider webs? 9) On a Monday morning 6/16 (our third morning) my wife showed me photos of roaches in both the bathroom and the kitchen. See photos. Given the lack of response to the leaking frig, I opted to get a can of bug spray from the front office and spray the kitchen and bathroom myself. I wasn't about to live with this nastiness one minute longer than necessary. Photos also show the dead ones the following morning. No urgency from the front desk when I asked for bug spray. They made a note for the Terminex man. No immediate action was taken. Almost $200/night to deal with roaches? I do not recommend this place.

We stayed a week here and had a great time. In a nutshell…read more... Pros: awesome lake with a beach area for the kids, picnic table and fire pit for each site, rv hookups, variety of lodging (rv, tent, cabin), laundry room, market close by, 8 miles from the Sequoia National park entrance, clean campground, restrooms with showers, small store with wood, ice, snacks, and souvenirs for purchase. Cons: Not many tree shaded rv sites, no WiFi, terrible cell phone service, people bringing glass bottles out to the lake, and trash left by the lake. Aside of the few negatives/cons, we had an overall great experience. Everyone was very friendly, staff was helpful, and we really enjoyed the fact that there was a lake a few feet from our rv. The temperature ranged from 95-102, so the lake was warm and not freezing cold. There was a beach area leading into the lake, and the river was very peaceful and relaxing. We spent most of our time in the water and really enjoyed our stay here. We swam, fired up the grill, and made s'mores at night. Good times. We will definitely be back, except next time we will get a spot with some shade in the summer.

The campground should keep the beach music free or tone it down, some of us just want to enjoy the river & relax.

The beautiful surroundings and the inn had a charming, vintage, and cozy touch that made us excited to stay. The owner greeted us warmly, and we appreciated the hospitality after driving all day from San Diego. The room was beautifully decorated, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We were able to take an evening swim before settling down for the night. When we woke up, we had breakfast right outside our room in a lovely setup with a garden atmosphere. I appreciated that they accommodated my diet and were more than happy to substitute food options to make me feel welcome. My husband and I decided right then and there that we'd be back for another stay and hopefully a longer one. I'd definitely recommend this place for a nice getaway from the city to relax and unwind.
