This cabin met my demands! We stayed in a Grant Grove cabin for one night in mid-May (Tue. 05/17/22), with a rather last-minute reservation, about 3 weeks prior. As with our one-night Yosemite stay later that week, I'd really waited too long to reserve anything in the park, so I was also stalking their website daily until one of the cabins with it's own bathroom was available for our specific night. As I was booking, or maybe afterward, I realized this was the Honeymoon Cabin, though I'm not sure how this cabin differed from the others with private bathrooms aside from having only one bed. This cabin was fantastic! Roomy inside, with many screened windows, plus a seating area & desk, mini-fridge in the large closet nook, and a decent size bathroom, the cabin had a large front deck & a picnic table on the side. Our cabin also had a space heater that we actually used on this night with open windows (for air flow). This cabin was situated on a corner of the greater cabin area, near the parking lot, so our neighbors weren't super close (maybe THAT is part of why it's the Honeymoon Cabin?). Please see my separate review for the John Muir Lodge. That's where we checked in & spent time using the WiFi Tuesday night & Wednesday morning. The comfortable lobby offered many seating areas including tables for dining & working (I did both), as well as cushioned couches & chairs in seating groups around the large fireplace. A small selection of snacks & beverages were available at reasonable prices, and a water-bottle fountain (like at airports) was near the bathrooms. This area also had a gift shop & restaurant, but separate from the John Muir Lodge. I want to mention that in addition to the Redwood trees here, the pinecones & squirrels are also oversized. Not a little bigger, but A LOT. And, at least in mid-May, the ladybugs were swarming. It was quite magical. TL;DR: I loved this cabin. I loved this National Park. I want to go back.

I was pretty cold the first night (mid Sept) , even dressed in layers, but it's not so bad if you have someone snuggled up next to you (though they are double beds, so could be a bit cramped). Could definitely improve by providing heavier blankets during colder months. Privacy and proximity to the bathroom/showers was good. No electricity didn't bother us, and they provide free mini lanterns at the Lodge.

It was great having pots & pans, cutlery, spatula, stove, microwave, & BBQ to use. We really loved the outdoor kitchen & shaded dining area with cute red and white checkered tablecloth. A number of apple trees grow on property, plus a nice garden. Innkeeper knows plants. Room was very quiet even though very near road maybe because the rooms are lower on the hill than the road is. And almost no traffic at all. We stayed here on our way to Kings Canyon, Sequoia National Park & Yosemite. Did Grants Grove same day. TIP: If you want to use the fridge, turn it up to mid-cold as soon as you get there. Fridges are kept powered on, but at warmest setting which is not even cool, but I'm sure saves a lot of electricity when they are not in use. Shower was great, just like home (but narrow). Parking is super easy. Rooms were small & very clean. No A/C, but room was cool when we arrived due to correct use of windows, blinds & fans. Outside temp was hot, maybe 85 when we arrived. We opened all windows when the temp dropped to 62 at night in June. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at the Apple Place & would definitely recommend & stay here again. Great value for money. See photos to get an idea of the place. Horse-friendly. No WiFi, no TV. You can pretend your cellphone doesn't work (but it does). No shopping nearby. Perfect getaway.

We love staying a little off the beaten path when road-tripping to national parks, especially…read moreplaces where we can cook and spread out. Traveling with three kids and a dog, we also need space and at least two bathrooms, and this place delivered for first visit to Sequoia/Kings Canyon. This location is closest to the Kings Canyon entrance, and the drive is beautiful. If you're visiting in winter, just be prepared. After December, the highway into the park can close due to weather -- this happened to us for a couple of days - snowed before followed rain. The alternate route is possible but very long. We stayed four days and had flexibility, but definitely bring chains if you're visiting in winter. The property has RV spots and rental homes. We stayed in a three-bedroom house with 2 baths with 5 people (and a small dog) for 5 days/4 nights for New Year's and had plenty of space. The home was comfortable, with a full kitchen and included a gas BBQ, dishes, and cookware. A few small things would make it even better: more kitchen utensils and serving plates/bowls, plus extra towels. We were a family of five with a dog visiting during very rainy weather, and towels went fast. It would also be more convenient if the washer/dryer were in the unit instead of shared at the office/library. Important tip: bring all your food and drinks with you. There is no store or grocery nearby, and this is not a "pick it up down the road" situation. The closest grocery stores are in Woodlake or Visalia, about a 45-minute drive EACH WAY. Bee stopped in Visalia on the way in at Winco to buy food. The internet was surprisingly excellent -- fast and reliable. We also loved the wildlife around the property. We saw lots of animals, but especially enjoyed the friendly cats that stopped by and the silly quails wandering around. Overall, this is a peaceful, family- and dog-friendly place with a lot of character. If you're looking for a quiet home base near Kings Canyon and Sequoia and don't mind being remote, we'd definitely recommend it and would stay here again.

So we walked up to the front desk to get a room, last minute. We proceeded to ask the front desk attendant for a room for THREE people. The girl did not seem like she knew what she was doing so she was screaming across the room asking another lady for prices and if this or that other room were available until they finally figure out which room to give us but that's when we came across the next problem, the lady did not know what THREE GUESTS meant. She kept saying that she had to charge us like another $20 extra aside from what the room already cost just in case we decided to bring another random person to the room. Like seriously lady, I was just trying to get some rest. We paid for the room, since we didn't want to keep arguing or having to drive to go somewhere else. We got to the room & the first thing I saw when I walked in was a nasty ROACH. I told the lady and instead of being helpful, she was extremely rude about it saying that I probably brought them from home. My jaw dropped all the way down to the floor. I was talking to her in the most respectful way possible and for her to respond like that. I felt extremely disappointed and offended. I had never met anyone more rude than this lady and her coworker that also kept saying rude things and speaking in their foreign language which I find very inappropriate when they are supposed to be providing us with good customer service. The room was decent in size. The bed made a lot of noise plus the AC was extremely loud as well. The toilet had some stains that could have been removed when they cleaned it. We went to sleep and as it was time to check out we decided to get another night so I called the front desk from the room to see if it was possible and how much it would be. They told me that it would be the same price as the day before plus another $20 but they needed to go inside the room to check that we didn't sneak anyone else at night while they weren't watching or that we have not been doing anything illegal in there and if I didn't accept that we would have to go look for another hotel. I said "Ok, thanks I might have to do that then" for which they responded "It's ok. Do whatever you want. I DONT CARE". I just couldn't believe the way they were treating us when we didn't disrespect them in any way. Yet we still tried to get the night and I allowed them to come inspect the room but they still decided not to let us stay because my boyfriend didn't open the bathroom door when he was taking a shower. The lady was trying to open the bathroom door and let herself in like WTF.. At that point we have had it so I told her to please get out of the room so we could get all of our stuff and leave. The lady did not wanna leave the room. I guess she expected my boyfriend to change in front of her. I threatened her with calling the cops if she didn't provide us with a little bit of privacy so we could gather everything and get going. So it was then when she finally stepped out but stayed outside the door like a guard dog just in case we decided to steal the bed or something. Finally we walked out to go to the car as she was screaming out loud to not ever go back to that hotel and then talking in her language. I'm sure she wasn't saying nice things. I have never written a review this long before but I felt like it was necessary to tell about my worst hotel stay ever SO FAR. But yes I am NEVER going back to this place again. And if you do decide to give it a try just remember. You have been warned. I hope they get some customer service training or something that can help them treat their guests in a better manner.

The manager worked with me on a deal as it was not the peak season and I had a very clean room with two full-sized beds all to myself. The owner was very hospitable and nonchalant about the transaction, and did not require a lot of excess forms and waivers to be filled out. I truly appreciated the service and enjoyed my stay at this establishment. For those wondering, my room had a small refrigerator, microwave oven, two full sized beds, a shower (no tub), a dresser, a television, and free wifi. On top of it, the room was non-smoking and it was plain to see that the room indeed had not been altered by the scent of cigarettes. I would stay here again.
