I was expecting to sit and read while my oil was being changed, but Orlando asked if I wanted to learn a bit about what he was doing so I could understand what other places might say when I go home for future oil changes. He did routine checks on other things--transmission fluid, tires, etc.--and explained what other places will try to charge me for that actually doesn't need to be done. Also, apparently, the last place I had gone for an oil change had put an A/C gasket seal where the oil gasket would normally go...PROBLEM, which is why it was leaking...BOTTOM LINE: Orlando actually CARES about good service and has nothing to hide. The price was better than I've had, and I received far better service from Orlando than I ever have at any other auto shop. I head back home in six months, but I'll be stopping to get my oil changed one last time because I'll take reliability and kindness over the mainstream auto shops ANY day. Thanks a bunch, Orlando!

On July 23, 2026, I took my 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid to Stephens Automotive for an oil change…read moreat 20,283 miles. Less than 48 hours later, 250 miles into a family trip to Wisconsin Dells with my three children, the engine failed from oil starvation. The Hyundai dealership in Madison, WI provided a written diagnosis: an O-ring failed to seat properly during the oil change Stephens performed, causing oil to leak from the engine. On top of that, diagnostic records show Stephens' service triggered two engine codes at 20,286 miles (3 miles post-service) that were cleared before the car was given back to me. No one mentioned it. My family was stranded for days. Over $7,000 in damages: towing, hotel stays, Uber, and non-refundable flight tickets I had to buy to get my children home for a custody schedule. The shop initially acknowledged the situation and confirmed they carry garage liability insurance. Then the tone changed. Eric Stephens refused to share insurance information, told me "There is no claim here," and texted me to stop contacting him and take it up legally. A certified demand letter went unanswered. I have filed complaints with the Iowa Attorney General, the BBB, and Polk County Small Claims Court. Stephens performed the service. The dealership confirmed their work caused the failure. They refuse all responsibility. I would not bring my vehicle here.
