We have graduated onward from Hill Country Pediatrics but I felt they deserved a review from me. We were with Dr Bartlett and her practice from fall 1998 to summer 2016. I've known Dr Bartlett since she was in practice with another physician off of Duval (blanking on name)--when she decided to go into practice on her own in Jester Village this ROUND ROCK MOM followed her. FYI that infant that caused me to change peds is now in college (and her brother is in HS). When I was pregnant I thought we'interviewed carefully and found a great ped--that is until he started telling me to "slow down and work on weaning my daughter from breastfeeding: she was getting a bit chunky." Umm...this was at 4 months, did not mesh with anything else I was learning...so I quizzed my friends (now that we all had babies of all ages), resulting with an interview Dr Elizabeth Bartlett. Some key memories: My oldest was diagnosed with asthma at 3, and I remember Dr Bartlett and her med student nebulizing her in the office--then making sure I understood what to do, because they had already arranged for equipment and meds to be delivered later to our house. When Dr Bartlett (and Becky) moved we moved...that was a heck of a drive! Then my son came along when my oldest was four...Dr Bartlett was prepped and ready, but my son decided an earlier showing was more exciting. So, we met Dr Wells. Dr Wells was a perfect addition to the team-neither Dr had started their own families (but that was soon to follow). The practice was growing exponentially--and if we couldn't get in to see Dr Bartlett then Dr Wells (for either child) was just wonderful. One horrible eve, my son at 7 mos old developed a high temp-that kept rising and rising fast. Off we went down to the drs. Blood tests were drawn-didn't look good--I was asked (strongly encouraged/led by the arm out to the lobby) while Drs Bartlett & Wells worked together to do a spinal tap. While it was being rushed to Dell Children's (still located near Breckenridge) I hightailed to Dell Children's with Ian as that was the only place open to still do x-rays on a 7mo baby. My cell was dying: Dr Bartlett kept calling that hospital dept to 1- find out the the status of everything and 2-keep talking to me and keep me calmer (?!?) Long story short, my son just runs really really high fevers when sick: but both of us were taken cared of so well. In 5th grade he gave us another scare and we ended up at Children's (this time he was admitted, given fluids, meds, and observed by LOTS of med students). But always Hill Country Drs were watching over. As the kids started school, getting them down to Jester, and even the RiverPlace locations became challenging. The kids were going to minute clinics for strep, etc instead of having it recorded. We kept thinking about moving but decided to just wait until my oldest was out of HS. At the final checkup for my kids (their bdays are so close appts were a family affair with diff rooms), My oldest checked fine and ready for college (and xfer to an internist): we found a hernia on my son. Dr Bartlett came in and did a second check (Dr Tarant was reviewing one of possibly both), then I talked to my own doctors to get a referral to a surgeon who usually operated on adults but wouldn't mind operating on my 14 yr old. As that finished and he got a clean bill of health.....we graduated the family to internists in the same practice where my internist is located. Some overall comments: yes the formula samples were annoying, but Dr Bartlett was and is highly supportive of mothers choosing to breastfeed. My oldest weaned herself at 14 mos, because of a surgery I was regrettably forced to wean Ian at 8 months. I received no warnings or problems from anyone: Drs, nurses, any staff. We saw the additions of Drs Tarrant and Thompson, a NPP (sorry only saw her once) and Rachel L PA. Dr Thompson ended up finding a location better suited to where she lived; there was another (female) Dr that my son really liked but unfortunately she didn't stay particularly long (she could have been there 8 years: we were with them for 18 ) As male nurses arrived I know my son was pleased. He was fine with all the doctors but when we did finally leave one of his requests was to make sure he could finally see a male doctor He is. At some point I do hope they find a wonderful male PA or MD to add to the team. I watched Each of these doctors grow, but I trusted them from the start: I could ask questions without reprisal. To everyone searching: Hill Country Pediatrics is the best. If we lived significantly closer, I know we would have seen them for every sniffle cough etc, but pulling anyone out of junior high (let alone high school!) seems to require a court order. No matter: during crucial development years, my kids had the best! Thank you for the absolute best care possible! read more

Doctor Natalie Tarrant is not a great doctor I saw her one time in my life and tells us that we need shots that are not required I don't recommend ever seeing her and would always say you need blood work and never failed for her tricks. I would give her negative -1000000 not a good doctor read more

Dr. Elizabeth is phenomenal and truly cares about her patients! She is VERY knowledgeable, skilled and helpful and I feel lucky that my kids are her patients. read more

I never write reviews! But feel this practice so deserves it. Moved here 2 years ago and started seeing Dr Wells for both of my kids. She is absolutely amazing!!! Not only do I have an amazing doctor but the whole practice is amazing. I have seen all of them due to sick appointments. All the doctors are so caring and I feel like I am always in amazing hands with all the doctors. The nurses are so unbelievably sweet too and so helpful. I just love this practice. I can call when I have a sick kid they always get me in the same day. They call back so fast when I have a sick question. Even when I call over the weekend, calls me back super fast. They have called me multiple times to check on the kids after visits. They just truly care and it truly shows. I feel like my kids are in the best hands and it's the best feeling as a parent. read more

I really like the doctors here but the fact that they don't take calls over the lunch hour is insanely frustrating for two working parents. It would be one thing if they allowed you to schedule appointments online but it all has to be done via phone and they don't even allow you to leave a message for a call back. Please change this! read more

I brought my son to Hill Country Pediatrics as a new patient recently. He was just there for a physical. Office staff was pleasant and helpful. They were pretty efficient. The doctor was very nice and thorough and not rushed. read more

All of the staff is so nice and genuinely care about about their patients. I would highly recommend this business to anyone and everyone. Doctors will go above and beyond for your children. read more

Hill Country Pediatrics provides a very high quality of health care. We have been with HCP for over 8 years and followed them through 3 office moves because they are worth it. All the doctors here are outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Bartlett. She is without question the finest Dr that I have ever been involved with. She is a very caring and professional person. She takes whatever time you need to help parents be informed of their childs condition instead of rushing through a visit to get to the next in line. She provides a very high quality of health care that you will notice and learn to appreciate with your first visit to HCP. Do your family a big favor and let HCP be your choice for childrens health care. read more

Hill Country Pediatrics - Doctor staff - Pediatricians Near Me - Austin, Texas

We had our son here for a few months and then left for several reasons. The facility is not nice (tiny waiting rooms, with the sick room practically on top of the "healthy" room). I found our doctor to be incompetent on several occasions. One example is during our two month visit, I mentioned to her that some of my friends with babies my son's age, were told by their doctor to take a Vitamin D supplement when breastfeeding, at their one month visit. Her response was "oh yeah....should have told you that. Sorry, I forgot...". I was also bothered that the staff did not call or e-mail patients to remind them of appointments. I asked them about this and they said "it's just not something we do". Every other doctor I had ever been to does this. We switched to Dr. Nichols at the Pediatrics center at the ADClinic on Cedar Bend and have had a much better experience. The facility is much nicer, our doctor is much more friendly and competent, and they call you ~2 days before your appointment with a reminder, which is very nice for busy, working moms :-) read more

We have interacted with three of the doctors now, and all of them have been so patient and kind with my kids (and me :).) Combine that with being totally competent, confident and positive...I'm so thankful to have found this place. The office staff is great, the nurses are great. They have hours on Saturday and Sunday if you need them. Of course the real litmus test is if your kids like them, right? My oldest declares that they are the best doctors ever. My youngest hasn't had to come here yet, except to help bring her sister one day. She was anxious in the bug decor room (each exam room has a cute theme) and they said next time she came, they would see us in a different room. They were very understanding about it...that sound probably be a given for a pediatrician's office, but it hasn't always been the case we've found! There is a sick waiting room and a well waiting room, also appreciated. read more

So, my wife called me this morning and told me that the pediatrician called (we've used Hill Country Pediatrics for a little over 2 years and have loved them from the beginning). One of the tests that was run on my daughter determined that she needed a different type of antibiotic. No big deal, they called it into the pharmacy, business as usual. However, because of the way our insurance works, the antibiotics were $355!!! We're used to paying $10 - $20 for antibiotics. My wife then called back and got Rachel, a PA at the doctor's office. Instead of just blowing us off and dealing with the dozens of other tasks I'm sure she had to do, she took it personally, went above and beyond in trying to get the price down for us, and ended up being able to help us get it down to $108. These people are always professional, great doctors, PA's, and office staff. But this was an issue that was with MY INSURANCE, based on decisions that I MADE. It wasn't their problem to deal with, but they did anyway. Thanks for making me and my wife's day, and going above and beyond!!! If you need a pediatrician and are within 20 miles of this place, you'd be crazy not to use them. read more

We are new to Austin and don't have many friends around. Depended 100% on Yelp n found this practice. I drive 20miles each way to see the pediatrician here. We have seen Dr. Wells twice so far since October 2013 and she is gr8! Answers all my questions patiently and to satisfaction. She is gentle with the 2yo. Relief is, my toddler likes the Dr! The reception staff n nurses are friendly too. The room with various themes interests my kid enough to make him stay put while he's getting checked up. Am glad I found them and will keep driving back for such awesome practice. read more

We love Hill Country Pediatrics! Dr. Tarrant has been caring for my kids ages 11 & 9, since birth. And we love her! We have also seen Dr. Bartlett and Dr. Wells and they are all incredible! They don't only provide great service, they are also, compassionate and kindhearted! The staff are just as exceptional! Hill Country Pediatrics are amazing and I highly recommend them! Thank you for everything you do especially during these times. read more

Very very impressed. We called and got an appt the day that the OBGYN recommended. Got a call the night before to confirm. Wife, baby and I were brought back IMMEDIATLEY, to meet Dr Tarrant. She was very sweet, a great listener, and very informative with her info, but didn't overwhelm us. We honestly felt like she truly cared and was in no rush to get to the next patient. It is only our first appointment, but we just got a great vibe and feel that our baby will be well cared for here. read more

I had my children with Hill Country Pediatrics from 2013 to 2019 and have always been very happy with Dr. Wells, Rachael L. (the Physician's Assistant), and office staff. The doctors were always very methodical on those rare occasions when diagnosing and treating my kids' illnesses and stayed on top of upcoming vaccines. The office staff is super friendly, accommodating, and efficient. read more

We have been going here for a long time. Last month we asked them to review testing results again that we had faxed over to them 3 years ago because we felt there was still something going on. Once they reviewed the results they found there were diagnoses that we were never informed about. They never reviewed the paper work that was faxed to them from an outside testing facility. I took my son in last week with a sore throat we thought it could be strep but the test was negative. She sent him home. The sickness continued to get worse and develop into a sinus infection over the weekend and this week. I called back to come in again for her to check his sinus and prescribe something for the now sinus infection. They would not see him. They said since he didn't have any symptoms of sinus infection last week that's not what's happening. From my knowledge of sinus infections a sore throat is one of the first signs from the drainage. He has lost his voice and his ears hurt as well. I took him to our family physician today and they said one ear is completely clogged, his left sinus is closed shut and clogged and his throat is red from drainage. They gave him a steroid injection and prescribed him prednisone. We wont be returning. read more

I have been bringing my children here for over 10 years. My kids and I are huge fans of Dr. Tarrant but everyone that we have dealt with has been great. I also really like that they have Saturday hours incase your child happens to get sick on a Friday night. They have a great staff and the doctors are very kind, knowledgable and compassionate. read more

I agree with all the other reviews-these guys are excellent. I always feel comfortable and confident about how my son is being cared for here. Dr. Carly Thompson is my son's pediatrician, but we have also had very positive interactions with the other doctors here. I also love that they have availability on Saturdays now. So great when you have a super sick kid and would really rather avoid the ER. read more

I just moved here from SF and love everybody at this office! Officially, our Dr is Elizabeth Bartlett, but we have seen her once and seen a few of the nurses other times. They always make my 1 year old feel like she is at a place of fun and she feels comfortable with everyone she has met. Everyone is super nice and easygoing! I look forward to a long relationship with this office. read more

Love, love, love Dr. Wells and the entire staff at Hill Country Pediatrics! They are professional, friendly, and we never have a problem getting an appointment (even same day if it's an emergency). I'd highly recommend them! read more

Love this practice and everyone who works there. Never did I feel rushed through my appointment. Most times we did not have to wait too long, and I could always get same day appts for sick visits. Dr. Tarrant saw all 3 of my children from the day they were born and we love her. So kind and loving with all the kids. We have seen every single doctor though, and don't have a negative complaint on any of them. We recently moved out of Austin and we were so sad to not have Dr. Tarrant as our pediatrician. They are so awesome, that I called them from our new town since I didn't have a pediatrician yet and had an issue with my youngest and a nurse called me back right away and answered all my questions. Dr. Tarrant also filled out the health form for my daughter's preschool, which saved me from paying another copay here when she basically just had her well check. Great service here! read more

Our family has been going to the doctors at Hill Country Pediatrics for 12 years. This group provides excellent care, always seems to have last minute available appointments, and has genuine concern for your child's well being. No issue too big or small; they have helped us through many childhood illnesses and referred us to great specialists when necessary. I truly appreciate how much individual attention they give our children and how they really take the time to listen and explain. Could not imagine a better practice! read more

Be careful, they are so good at extra charge and miss-visit items in their bill. They even do it for the past paid bills. I have been going there for over a year and I don't judge based a single visit. Doctor Wells has a pattern to bring child multiple times. Healing is last step in their business process. I see some reviews saying they are perfect. With respect with other's opinion, I wonder how a review could say 'every staff are good' unless it is a review submitted by owners. They is no way that you could deal with every doctors and staff unless you are related to the business. I won't go there and I don't recommend anyone else. read more

While walking into the lobby of Hill Country Pediatrics last January, my sickly son noticed the toy room and perked up. There were a few babies and children his age there and he felt comfortable right away. We were asked to wait in a very clean, neatly decorated and brightly painted room. My son met with Dr. Thompson and she took her time to consult both of us. Speaking directly to my son, she made him feel calm and cared for. We were signing out and the desk clerk cheerfully offered my son a sticker or a pencil. He smiled and took a sticker. I like to think he started to feel better right then. I was very happy to find them and I will continue to take my son in for his check ups. The lovely part is that they're open on Saturdays, so parents don't have to have their kids suffer and wait until Monday for care. Great doctors, professional service and thoughtful diagnosis for quick recovery. read more

We used Hill Country Pediatrics during their weekend hours this past Sunday. My daughter's allergies had been plaguing her for weeks, so not anything urgent mind you, but it was just going to be difficult for my husband or myself to bring her in that Monday. We called at 1pm when they opened, got an appointment right away for 1:30. The receptionist and NP were nice as could be, didn't seem irritated for us bothering them on a Sunday. We were in and out in maybe 30-45 minutes and were also given samples, so no Rx cost or extra trip to the pharmacy. Overall, a wonderful experience! We have also seen Dr. Willis before and thought she was great too! read more

We were referred to Dr Wells by a coworker 4 year s ago and have absolutely loved Hill Country Pediatrics. All the doctors and nurses are nice, caring, and very helpful. We've used Hill Country Pediatrics since our daughter was born and love them all! The doctors are thorough and caring. The staff is kind and my daughter actually likes going to the doctor. Love the appointment times and have never had a problem getting in when I need to see a doc. read more

Dr Willis is awesome! Very approachable & knowledgable. Dr Thompson is pretty bad. I can tell she is used to treating infants and very slow to perscribe medication even in an older patient and doesn't seem to get that once you have kids over the age of 5 you are not coming to the Dr unless it's pretty bad. I love how convenient they are and that they have Sat. Hours. Literally would have given them 5 stars if it weren't for Thompson. read more

Dr. Bartlett has been awesome. Have taken all three of my kids there. They have been able to add them in to their schedule when sick, and Saturday when needed. Staff is friendly. They even had Flu Mist this year for kids so didn't need shots! Recommend to anyone with kids. Easy to get in and out -- parking is right by it without having to go in a big building. read more

We've used Hill Country Pediatric for 10 years, when it was just Drs. Bartlett and Wells. Then Dr. Tarrant joined the staff and was another great addition. All of the staff they've added since have also been great. When my kids were babies, I found the doctors and nurses to be very compassionate, very caring, and extremely competent. We saw mostly Dr. Wells at that time -- she is absolutely fantastic when it came to my younger daughter's frequent ear infections, catching things that other doctors did not. We saw Dr. Tarrant when Dr. Wells wasn't available and found her also very sweet, but there were some symptoms where she missed a diagnosis, such as my older daughter's ADHD (when she had all the signs). She's got 3 or 4 years more experience now. My only complaint was that the office did not do enough to support breastfeeding, with infant formula and free samples being prominently displayed and not enough info similarly available about the benefits of human milk for human babies. I was told it had to do with the clientele. I think the formula samples are less prominent now. In her early days, Dr. Bartlett intimidated me with her very fancy, very expensive and beautiful clothes. I felt it was a fashion show rather than a visit to the doctor. However, over the years, I've seen Dr. Bartlett grow and mature as a doctor, dealing with her own health issues, and refocusing. What I've seen is that she is now a physician first and foremost, often wearing scrubs during our visits. I feel she has come into her prime as a first-rate doctor. She is also the doctor we see most often now. She is treating my daughter for her ADHD, so we see her every few months for a checkup. She has been extremely available to us, and has patiently -- and compassionately -- answered my every question and concern. Once, when I had a lot of concerns about a sedative being prescribed by a dentist for a root canal and how that would interact with her ADHD meds, a nurse (not Becky, who is fantastic, btw) decided I'd used enough of Dr. Barlett's time, but I commented "My daughter is under Dr. Bartlett's care and I have questions about medications she's being prescribed. I'd like to know why you're trying to limit my access to my daughter's doctor." And that kind of ended that and I got a phone call from Dr. B where she did spend a lot of time discussing the various meds. For which she did not charge, I might add. As far as where the office is located, it's something we deal with. We started with them when they were in Jester Village, 10 minutes from our house. We've stayed with them as they moved further out, and we moved into Central Austin. Not convenient, but I honestly would not take my kids to any other medical practice. It's worth the extra drive time, and we rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes. I think these doctors really are the best. read more

Drs. Wells and Thompson have been consistently very friendly and good with the children. Facility is also nice and inviting for kids, with appropriate sick and well rooms. Nurses are also friendly, however, our primary downsides w/ HCP has been that they have not been very helpful when we call in with questions. They appear to be ultra-conservative in offering advice over the phone and have insisted 100% of the time for us to schedule an appointment to go in for a doctor to review and respond to any concerns we have. This wouldn't be a complaint but for the fact we believe several of our inquiries could be handled via telephone communication. Moreover, each time we have indeed brought in our children after coordinating around work schedules and paying additional co-pays, it ends up to be situations that did not require a physical visit. While we are thankful that our visits to date have not been more serious, we wish the phone support was more helpful and informative. Other than that, they are generally able to accomodate schedules and you don't have to wait too long for appointments. read more

Extremely happy to say that both my daughters have been patients of Hill Country Pediatrics for over 9 years. I have had the pleasure of having ALL of the doctors at HCP see them at some point or another. Just last September, I confirmed why I just love this place and trust them with my girls' health. My daughter had a severe allergic reaction to cashews at school. I picked her up from school and was advised by the school nurse to take her immediately to ER. Knowing her pediatrician was a couple of blocks down the street, I decided to take her there. I walked in and asked for help. The staff and Dr. Tarrant and Dr. Wells immediately took the proper steps to make sure that my daughter was given proper care while they called EMS to transport her to the hospital. Needless to say, I AM SUPER GRATEFUL and will absolutely recommend Hill Country Pediatrics any day! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for stabilizing my daughter's anaphylactic shock (severe allergic reaction) and making sure that her condition did not worsened before the ambulance got there. FOREVER GRATEFUL! read more
