We've been taking our son to see Dr Beall since his very first doctor's appointment right after he was born, and we could not be happier. She is patient, kind, and thoughtful. As our son has gotten older, she takes time to explain all procedures to him. She starts each appointment asking us what questions we have, and takes the time to answer all of them. LET THIS STORY SINK IN BEFORE YOU CONSIDER THIS DR OFFICE FOR YOUR CHILDREN They refused service to my child who was sick and needed to be seen urgently according to their OWN NURSE & they admitted to making a clerical error totaling $37 that was literally the cause this refusal! We had been a patient for years & suddenly got a $37 additional charge I didn't recognize, so I called. They said they would ask the dr why & call me back. They never did & a few months later I got a bill. I called & they said they sent a certified letter (which felt crazy). I never received this letter & they couldn't find my signature or any proof. They said it must have been lost. I asked why they never called or emailed like they do for everything else - they had no answer. I didn't like this situation now, it was very fishy - but went ahead and paid that $37 just to end the madness. Fast forward to this morning- my child was very ill - I called & talked to their nurse who said they needed to get in urgently - to scheduling before confirming the appointment they brought on a manager who said they decided that day I paid that $37 to allow my kids 30 more days of access & then refuse to treat us. She admitted they never told me of this 30 day deadline & that she was a recent hire & the old team left. I told her I didn't think I could even get my child into another doctor so quickly so she said she would ask if they could make an exception right then to do an appointment at this urgent time and she would call me back. She NEVER called back! This is UNBELIEVABLE, ILLEGAL & grossly IMMORAL to refuse to see a child patient (with no notice) because of a cheap clerical error that they admitted to! This left me with no option but expensive urgent care! I'm looking into taking further action now. If anybody wants to put this story in a movie or anything, I have actual proof to back it up I don't think anyone should trust them with their children or money. Even if you've been a loyal customer for years- watch out- apparently they don't care. Do not support this dishonest practice! read more

We LOVE Dr Cassels and the other docs at AusTex. We have never once felt rushed. My daughter is not an easy patient (lots of different doctors, therapies etc) and Dr Cassels makes us feel like we are her only patient of the day when we see her. We have seen the other docs for sick visits and they're very knowledgeable and helpful as well. We are so lucky to have found them after initially leaving another popular clinic in the area for refusing to refer us to therapies when my mom gut knew something was off. Listen, I know you're seeing this and thinking, "Oh boy, here's the one disgruntled person, amongst all these five star reviews". I don't want to be "that guy", but I also feel strongly about honest feedback and helping other parents make educated choices, so here's my honest review of the last 6 months of us being patients here. I can understand why there are five star reviews. The interactions with the doctors on staff (I've met with all of them now, I believe), haven't been horrible. They've been mostly kind. But the other issues I have outweigh this and in the long run, the issues have run my family out of this clinic. The breakdown of those issues is as follows: -We often feel rushed through our visits. It's obvious that this clinic overbooks and doctors are rushed to get to each appt on time. In their defense, we never have to wait, and I do appreciate that. But is that at the expense of rushing other parents? Probably. We certainly felt that way during our visits. I ALWAYS had questions afterwards that I wished I got to ask. Call, you say? Well, that brings me to my next point. -Don't EVER expect to speak with your physician on the phone. Do you have a serious issue that's scaring you? Are you concerned about something you're seeing and feel only a/your doctor could provide you the feedback and comfort you need? TOO BAD. On multiple occasions staff/nurses refused to allow me to speak with my doctor, or any doctor on staff, even when I was crying and begging and feeling helpless. During one visit, I confronted my dr about this, not believing this could really be true, but it is. She defended staff and said doctors are too busy to take calls and will not take them. You speak to a nurse or you book an appointment. No exceptions. -Don't you DARE break a policy, you'll be charged. You'll be nickel and dimed for every single communication you make outside of hours (even minutes outside the office hour) and if you're baby is exhausted and sick and you call to try and rearrange some things, guess what? You're paying for it. I understand policies are in place to keep everyone accountable. But think about the spirit of these policies versus how they can easily be abused by staff to earn money. It doesn't matter if you're an honest, loyal, timely, paying client. If you break one of their policies, even once, even for good reason and you try to be respectful about it, you're still done for. I'll finish my rant here (haha, sorry for the novel, thanks for sticking it out). Maybe I needed to lower my expectations. But I'm looking for the feel of someone/staff who truly care about my baby as much (almost) as I do. For someone who cares to show up, give grace to me when I'm simply doing the best I can (because parenting is hard enough without being charged for it, am I right?!), and give me a hug and some guidance when I'm scared and clueless. I have not received that kind of care at this clinic, sadly. I feel like I'm another number at a box clinic that can't bother to help because everyone's at lunch (true story!). If you are looking for folks who truly want to be there for you, my advice is to go elsewhere. We certainly are. read more

Dr. Taylor Beall is super sweet and very thorough. She was gentle and calming which is amazing for my daughter who can be quite anxious.

I really want to like Austex Pediatrics, but two instances on Saturdays when I've tried to call during office hours (clearly stated as 9am-noon on their website) they haven't answered or returned my calls/voicemail. It leaves me feeling helpless. I think Dr. Cassels, Dr. Glazener, and the nurses are nice but I need reliability. I chose Austex Pediatrics because they are a small clinic; I thought there would be better care, but I don't feel they know my son at all and rush him through like any other big clinic. Dr Cassels has helped me with my angels for 16 years. We moved and I still drive 45 minutes to see our favorite doctor. I'm not sure any office could be as wonderful. It's unusual and wonderful to call a doctors office that someone answers the phone quickly without press this press that and on hold forever. You can leave a message daily for a call back that day for help. Barb the nurse has been helping me for more than 16 years and is still welcoming my calls and questions. I am so sad that I can't take Dr Cassel and her office staff with me since moving out of state. I can't say enough good things about her and her practice. She came to visit my baby in the hospital within a day or two of her birth and continued to take care of her for the first 3 years before we moved recently. She's very compassionate and has an excellent manner that makes kids (and their parents) feel comfortable. She is very patient about answering questions and always treated us very respectfully. She practices science-based medicine and seems to be very up-to-date on the latest research. All of her staff have always been super helpful too. Barb will spend half an hour on the phone with me talking me off the ledge about whatever first-time parenting dilemma I'm worried about. Amazing doctors and office staff!! We drive for almost an hour, but there is no other doctors we want for our son.

Even after we departed the Austin area, my husband and I are still talking about the care and how awesome Dr. Caldwell and his staff were. We were referred to Dr. Caldwell by my OB/GYN when I was in my final trimester. I came from overseas and chose Austin as my place to deliver (I was with State Dept overseas and could not deliver in the country I was posted to). Basically - Oh My God, I still can't believe we found Dr. Caldwell. I have a toddler and Dr. Caldwell listened to my concerns about his development and managed to refer and put in a word for us to see a specialist for my toddler. He was able to catch my toddler's need for early intervention and therapy - something our previous pediatrician just shrugged off. To this day we're thanking him for that. When my now 6 month old was born, he had a very very high bilirubin count. Dr. Caldwell would see him and call us every morning, even over the Easter holiday when everything was shutting down. He wanted to make sure a hospital stay for my infant was not in our future. Before we departed for our next assignment, his staff made sure to write everything out and gave us the copies and everything we needed. There are more fantastic things to say about Dr. Caldwell and his staff, we even saw Dr. Cassels every now and then and she is great too! Everything is fantastic. If I'm talking about how great the care is even though I've moved several States away, you know it left a great impression on me. read more

My kids have been going to Austex Pediatrics for 14 years now. Dr. Caldwell, now retired, was amazing and I was truly sad when he announced his retirement. That said, Dr. Cassels has been great and fortunately our visits are somewhat infrequent, but when my kids do need to be seen, I feel Dr. Cassels gives a lot of thought about the symptoms before a diagnosis is determined. Scheduling an appointment has always been easy, and the receptionist has always been super polite and friendly, and we never have to wait too long to be seen, unless it is a same day appointment, which is understandable. An added bonus is that parking is free, and easily accessible. Yay! read more

We saw Dr. Glazener as a back-up for our regular pediatrician when we needed a weekend appointment right after her birth. Our daughter was having weight loss issues that were worrisome and we had a lot of anxiety and uncertainty about how to tackle it. He was so helpful with extremely detailed advice as well as making himself available for follow-up calls after hours. It helped us get her on track quickly and provided us with much-needed peace of mind. If we didn't already have a regular pediatrician we would have continued seeing him, as we were very impressed and pleased with the level of care. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend them to any parent looking for pediatric care. read more

Dr. Cassels is by far the best pediatrician in Austin. A part of me doesn't want to share my experience in fear of no longer being able to have quick appointments! However, as a relatively new mother, I know the stress of trying to find the best Dr. who will listen, take time, and not overprescribe unnecessary medication. I am so happy to find Austex Pediatrics! Pros: Dr. Cassels is competent, knowledgeable, quick to respond in urgent situations - and patient...both with our daughters and us!! The office is new/very clean, parking is easy, they have some entertainment for our girls in the waiting room, records are electronic which is nice, and Clay does a fabulous job at shots....a few tears, and they bounce right back! My husband and I call Dr. Glazener "The Baby Whisperer." Some people have a natural knack with children...their voice, their touch, their very presence calms them down no matter how sick or grumpy they are. I suppose it is natural that such a person went into pediatrics, but we are so thankful for Dr. Glazener's amazing way with our son. What kid ever WANTS to go to the doctor? But our son has always been treated so sweetly and gently at Austex Pediatrics, and Dr. Glazener has always managed to make him smile no matter what we were in for, that he actually enjoys himself (yes, my son is also a weirdo). Further, Dr. Glazener has always been diligent about checking up with us when my son has been ill, and in one emergency case was available by phone, on a Sunday night, within a few minutes (via their After Hours Call Center). Besides all these wonderful things, Dr. Glazener has a way of making you feel as though he has all the time in the world for your child--though he is an extremely busy man. He takes his time to care for your child, to answer all your questions very thoroughly and thoughtfully, and to write everything down for you in detail. I've been taking my now six-month-old son to see Drs. Caldwell and Cassels ever since he was born. (Dr. Caldwell is our main pediatrician, but we see Dr. Cassels when he's out of the office.) My OB, whom I love and trust dearly (and has two sons of her own), highly recommended this practice, and I can see why. Even though they're always busy, they make us feel like we're getting all of their attention. The doctors are incredibly kind, attentive, and detail-oriented. I'm not the type of parent who has a lot of questions prepared when I go in, so it's nice that Dr. Caldwell educates me so much on what to expect at every developmental stage. I took one star off because I'd prefer a faster response time from the nurse over the phone, and there was one time when the office lost my message for her, but overall, our family is extremely happy with this practice. read more

I called to make an appointment with Dr. Melody Cassels and needed an appointment for my stepson on short-notice as we had just moved to Austin and were running low on medication. The receptionist was nice as could be and gave us an appointment for two days later. All of their new patient paperwork is on the web, which made it super-easy to get established as a new patient. They've even got third party payer paperwork that can be faxed in with a credit card number (which is nice when the person responsible for paying copays etc isn't who is taking the child to the doctor, as in most divorce/custody arrangements). The office itself is in a great location, has parking available, and is very accomodating. Dr. Cassels was WONDERFUL - she listened to all of our concerns and worked with us on everything we needed. When I came back in after the appointment with a question from my stepson's mother, she even met with me in person to answer the questions (even though our appointment time was long over). Highly recommend this office and Dr. Cassels! read more

I literally left this office an hour ago and couldn't wait to write this review. Dr. Glazener was beyond wonderful. My 18 month old daughter is terrified of doctors, the sight of a stethoscope draws immediate tears. He not only was gentle, slow, and caring, he acted out everything he was going to do on her, on a rabbit he had in the office. Then he also did that to her unicorn that we brought with us. I am happy to report there were no tears (shots were another story but what kid doesn't cry at those). Aside from how he was with her, he gave us meaningful, applicable advice and offered real world suggestions. We just switched to Dr. Glazener and are so happy with our decision to leave our previous pediatrician because the level of care is night and day different. read more

When our son was born 3 weeks early, and had a few overnights in the NICU, Dr. Cassels worked him into her busy schedule so she could see and evaluate him the day after he was discharged - that meant the world to us. Dr. William Caldwell has been my daughter's doctor since she was four months old. He's a wonderful doctor, very caring, and extremely thorough. Although his office is quite busy, Dr. Caldwell always takes time with his patients to make sure all concerns are addressed. On the couple of occasions when our daughter was particularly ill, he made sure to call us multiple times at home personally to check on her. My daughter has seen Dr. Cassels a couple of times and she is great also. You really can't go wrong with either doctor. Dr. Caldwell's office and clinical staff is usually very helpful and compassionate, although I will admit there are a couple nurses that have been there for years and sometimes seem burnt out. Overall, they are awesome though. I gave only four stars because of after hours accommodations, which is an answering service that contacts an on-call doctor to speak on the phone. The on-call schedule is shared between Caldwell, Cassels and a couple other doctors. We've only used it once and it was awkward. Once we got the doctor our phone call got cut off somehow and we had to start the answering service process over again, which took awhile. Since then we decided to use ARC after hours clinic we if absolutely had to visit a doctor on a weekend or evening. Despite that experience, we still love Austex and won't change doctors any time soon. read more

We have been so happy with Dr. Cassels. Since our daughter was born 7 months ago she and the office staff have provided excellent care. We never have trouble getting an appointment when our child needs sick care, and for phone consultations one of the very knowledgeable nurses always calls us back within a few hours. Dr. Cassels is very thorough, listens well and takes her time, which as rookie parents we very much appreciate. She's also been fine with us stretching out our daughter's immunization schedule. An added bonus, our daughter absolutely loves her, and lights up when she walks into the exam room (even when she's sick!). I like that they are a smaller practice because I feel we get more personal attention and time with the physician. We highly recommend Dr. Cassels! read more

We love Dr. Caldwell, he's amazing. Anytime our son has tried a new medication he calls us a few days later to see how he's doing. His staff, particularly Barb, are amazing. My niece is also a patient of Dr. Caldwell's and when she got sick in Mexico, he actually called/texted my sister and was available all weekend. He has five children so knows what he's talking about. Dr. C (as we call him) has been amazing and has NEVER let us down! He and his incredible staff, now including Dr. Cassels, are knowledgable, efficient and really listen. Dr. William Caldwell was an amazing old school pediatrician. He treated all three of our children, since they were born. Dr. Caldwell retired. Nikki, his amazing nurse also retired. I have to say when I first went after their retirement I was skeptical. It felt different. I met our new Doc, Dr. Glazener, and I am now in awe actually. My three boys now love to go to the Doctor, truly. He makes my boys feel comfortable and is able to relate to them. His interaction is special and unique. He allows my kids to ask questions and interacts on their level. His familiarity and calmness is fascinating. On my two visits this week I also met an amazing nurse/student from Virginia College, Jessica. Jessica is interning in the office currently. Dr. Glazener is doing a phenomenal job, and with a great nurse like Jessica it would complete this practice after the loss of Nikki. Jessica loves children. She like Dr. Glazener relates to my kids on their level, communicates with my kids, in a fantastic manner. Jessica is informative, confident, and also very knowledgeable. Jessica makes you feel welcome and comfortable prior to meeting with Dr. Glazener. This practice is a special place. I would love for Jessica to continue to be a part of this practice on a regular basis. It would make it complete! read more

Dr. Cassels and her staff are great. Nurses Clay and Barb are quick and efficient at giving shots. They return calls quickly. They get us into appointments when needed. Dr. Cassels often remembers specific details about my children, despite having many clients I'm sure. She was recommended by a friend, and now many of my friends (well, their kids) all go to her as well. My son (now 3yo) got RSV at 18mo. We had a few appointments. I remember when Dr. Cassels even called after hours just to check in on us. A new partner, Dr. Glazener, recently started since Dr. Caldwell retired. We've only seen him once and my sick daughter (18mo), who wouldn't let anyone touch her at the time, opened right up to him. He patiently showed her instruments, she giggled, and that was it. Dr. Melody Cassels is one of the best doctors I have ever encountered. My husband and I absolutely love and trust her. We have been seeing her for 8 years now, ever since my first son was born (I now have 2 sons). She is very down-to-earth and she really listens to our concerns. She has great manner with her patients and you can tell that she genuinely loves children. She notices their cute little quirks and lets out little giggles; she sees the kids through the eyes of an adoring parent. We have seen her under many different circumstances. One time a local ER missed that our son had a broken arm. We knew something was wrong and stopped in to see Dr. Cassels for a second opinion. Instead of writing us off as overly paranoid, She ordered a new x-ray and properly diagnosed his broken limb (the ER had x-rayed the wrong part of the arm). She is very measured with her use of antibiotics, so I really trust her the few times that she has prescribed them. Recent research shows that many American doctors overuse antibiotics, so it is a relief to know we can trust that she saves them only for issues of great concern. Literally every single time I've left her office over the years I've always thought, "I need to get on yelp and write her a good review!" but it's taken me all of these years. Now that we have been seeing her for so long, I can safely say, she's the best!!! read more

We have been going to Dr. Caldwell's office for over 24 years! We moved to Austin years ago when we had only 2 children and then moved out of state for 3 years. When we returned to the Austin area, with one more child added to the family, we immediately called the office to re-establish ourselves as patients. Since then, we added one more child to our family and Dr. Caldwell was able to be her doctor from the time she was born to this day 15 years later! We have started seeing Dr. Cassels on several occasions over the last few years and absolutely LOVE her as well! They always follow-up with phone calls to check on how the kids are doing after they've been in for illnesses. I couldn't imagine using any other pediatricians in this area. We live in Round Rock, yet I have never even thought about finding someone closer. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my children's care! The staff is also probably the most professional and friendliest I have ever encountered, from the front desk, to the weigh-ins, to the lab and the nurses! Quite simply......THE BEST!!! read more
