Happy with the authentic diner experience. Esp since its local and charming. Usually have oldies music playing. Six tables. 10 barstools. Open on sundays. Cash only. First time today as we just moved to Middletown and this is definitely going to be our new go-to! I got the Big Breakfast and it was all perfectly cooked. Over easy eggs at a diner can be iffy but these were *chef's kiss.* French toast was magical, bacon was superb, the actual toast was drenched in butter, the home fries tasted like they were cooked in butter, it was everything I wanted. Oh and I also almost cried watching one of the waitresses talk to a deaf older patron, she was so patient. I love this place. No question 5 stars and I will be back again and again! read more

Here in Harrisburg for a firefighter convention. And found this on yelp. It's a very retro cool place. The old style silver diner. Wasn't busy when walked in but got busy quickly. The food came out very quickly. And is solidly good diner breakfast food. They are known for their rope sausage so we ordered a side of this. It was good. Tastes like sweet Italian sausage. We ordered both big breakfast with pancakes on the side. I got scrapple which could have been cooked longer. Wasn't crispy but I heard someone else asking for theirs crispy. I visit this diner pretty much every time I visit my parents in central PA and we love it. The menu has your typical diner food but is always delicious and consistent. It's also super clean inside and the food comes out very quickly. What really set this spot apart from others is the service! The waitresses are so friendly and the kitchen staff always comes out to say hello. It also has the old school diner feel! Highly recommend! read more

An original diner served the old way. I swear, I thought I was in an old episode of "Alice". We walked into this diner that claimed to have been open since it was delivered to the spot in 1952. Two of the local patrons backed that up with personal stories. The waitress was a "Flo" clone and had us rolling in the aisle. And, while there were 19 counter stools, we opted for a booth. About the only thing not original is that a full kitchen was added on in place of the behind the counter grill. But, that was a good thing. Julie ordered chocolate chip pancakes and I had the meat lovers omellete. Julie said the pancakes were tasty but a bit dry and needed extra syrup.....like that's a bad thing. My omellete came farm style with the fixin's mixed into the eggs. Real home fries (not those fake thing served in California) on the side and a cup of real Joe, not that green mermaid froo froo stuff. All in all, a great breakfast at a good price in a real diner. It took an out-of-towner to tell me how good the food is at Highspire Diner and I live right around the corner. My husband had the Sideliner, and after I saw it I wished I had ordered it too. He said he could eat it all of the time. I had an Athenian omelet with home fries and rye toast. It was delicious. I love the diner itself as it is a piece of old Americana--a 50's interior with counter seats and booths. Imagine that it is right down the street! Came in for breakfast after a funeral in the area and wasn't disappointed. It was quaint and clean and it had that down home feel. The server was very friendly and made us feel right At home. The prices are comparable to other breakfast places but I thought it would be cheaper due to the type of place and the location but it didn't break the bank. I will always have fond memories of this diner. Among other reasons, it was the very first wagon-style diner that I ever went to. I'll be honest - upon first arrival, I was less than impressed. It was dim, but it definitely has it's own quirky charm. The diner is small and out of the way for all but local traffic. Although I make it out only a few times per year, the staff always seems to remember me. The staff here feels less like waitstaff and more like family. The food is fairly standard diner fare with specials that change daily. They're great about making substitutions and accommodations. I've been there with people from ages six to thirty-five, and no one has ever complained. If you're in the area or even just vaguely interested in a trip out, I highly recommend the place. First time there. Clean, authentic 1950s diner. The real deal! The food was perfect. I had a classic burger and fries. My better half had one of their hot sub sandwiches. The prices there belong in the 1950s. The staff was friendly and attentive. Will absolutely go here again! A lot of diners are cash only and this is no exception, never to fear however. I love this place! The food is always well prepared and served quickly. Prices are cheap to reasonable. The diner itself is always immaculate and clean. It is an original stainless steel diner, how can you not love it? Tip: When I pick up friends or family from the West Coast flying overnight into HIA, I generally bring them here as it is just around the corner from the airport. We were here on a trip to the surrounding areas of Pennsylvania. We noticed this place on Yelp and decided to check it out. It was AMAZING. My friend and I shared the big platter with pancakes eggs hash browns and bacon. It was really good. Our mothers really enjoyed their food as well. We will definitely be back here. My only complaint is that the seating area is tiny. There are about 6 tables and a cramped little bar type area. We were here in the middle of the day but I'm sure there are big lines out the door on a Sunday morning. Defiantly love this place and we will be sure to come back soon. read more

What a great find! Real classic stainless steel diner with vintage music. I had two perfectly cooked huge pork chops with two sides. My husband had the "set-the-standard-meatloaf" and two sides.
