Boxer Buddies - Long-distance moving truck headed out from Austin, TX

Boxer Buddies

The TLDR: Don't use Boxer Buddies (BB) for a big move. Their planning and internal communications…read moreare very poor, resulting in a very bad move experience. The details: My whole-house, 3-bedroom move occurred Oct 15 - 18, from Austin to Walnut Creek California. I got quotes with criteria important to me: 1) The driver/crew chief is there for packing/loading, transit, and unloading. 2) One truck with only my belongings on the truck (no "consolidated" move). 3) Shipper/mover is to pack kitchen/pantry, all lamps (table and floor), and all large artwork/pictures. The salesman Aiden promised me all of the above, along with the standard careful treatment of furniture with moving blankets and plastic wrap. How did it go? Item #1 - was fulfilled okay. Driver (Chris) and crew were friendly and courteous. Item #2 - BB planned, without telling me beforehand, that they were going to also move another client's sofa to Los Angeles on my truck. (The driver let this info slip to me.) The BB "operations manager", who showed up to replace our malfunctioning U-Haul truck, said he didn't know anything about the sofa. My complaints to my salesman eventually yielded me a $250 discount. Item #3 - BB did a good job packing the kitchen stuff. Absolutely zero breakage. Other things, not so good. Upon unloading, I discovered: 1) my valuable Stickley bedframe was badly marred, apparently not wrapped. 2) An oak mission-style end table top, and an oak stool, were badly marred. 3) Five out of eight table lamps, as well as all three floor lamps, were broken and/or badly scratched. The driver/crew chief's excuse? "They ran out of blankets"! So the damaged things were just thrown in the back of the truck, to suffer an 1800 mile journey to California. No apologies from the owner, just an "I'm sorry" from Aiden the salesman. Beware!
