He showed up within three hours of that call, which I really appreciated. I showed him around, we discussed further questions and Antonio went straight up to the roof, found and fixed the clog, and showed me before-and-after videos and photos of the vent. We tested the dryer and it ran perfectly with no more error messages -- problem solved. We live in a 2-story house and he conquered the challenge. What really stood out to me was the speed he could resolve the issue and how considerate he was in and around my home. I have dogs and cats, and he was careful to keep doors and gates closed so they couldn't get out. He explained everything clearly -- what he was doing and why -- so I understood my options and could make an informed decision. He never tried to upsell me; he just told me what would actually fix the problem and did that. He also suggested a no-pressure follow-up cleaning in 6-12 months to prevent this problem and I've already booked my next appointment with him. They trimmed one side pretty good but never trimmed the dead branches out of the lower canopy on either side. On the opposite side they left branches hanging over the fence into my neighbors yard. The price suddenly was now $1500. No one on the crew spoke Engish. Most of the work was done with those tiny chain saws on a pole. I don't believe that I saw a traditional chain saw the entire time they were here. They changed the price to $1700. When we pointed out the branches hanging over the fence that were left undone, we were told it would be another $400. NOPE! Zac Barger (our realtor who was also great) told us he knew of someone to take care of the work we needed on our home. "I've used them before. They do great work." He was right! Our home had foundation issues originally. We got them fixed (And a lifetime warranty to boot!), but if you saw all the cracks in our wall from the house shifting, you'd never know it. Luis, in no time, got the inside of our home to reflect the safe, brand new structure that we now had inside. He was polite, gave us a good price and paid attention to details (Our white paints were apparently not all the same shade, so he repainted them all for free. We paid for the paint, but he would have done that too since it wasn't in the original quote). He even called a week or so after the repairs were done to see how we were doing. They apparently fix fences and do a lot of other work (They offer interior and exterior painting, carpentry, fence and deck building/repairs, staining, flooring, counter tops and popcorn ceiling removal). I had to spend $400 to replace the window glass. Also, when they tried to clean the bird poop on the stucco wall, they sprayed water to it the poop and stained the stucco wall badly. Then told me that the bird poop has acid inside. Shouldn't he know before he messes up? I had to buy $120 new paint and forced the guy to repaint for me. Worse, they are supposed to clean the upstairs windows. But they didn't clean from inside. When I asked about it. The worker said he did clean. That was a flat out lie because I was upstairs all the time. None of the 3 crew ever went to upstairs. Same thing about the solar panels. Nobody even went up to the roof, but they told me cleaned already.

He said that wasn't really necessary. I said it was fine, and besides, how else was I going to pay him? I was getting the feeling he was being a little evasive, but I ignored this in my excitement to finally have this done. So Wednesday came around and I worked from home. Didn't hear anything from Ben. At 5pm, I called and left a nice message asking if he was running late and still coming. He didn't call back. I waited another hour and called again - asking if something came up, and did we need to reschedule? (I'm SO nice and understanding. Maybe I'm a sucker.) He NEVER called me back. Nothing. No explanation, after canceling once then being a no-show. My house is a typical 3-bedroom size, with a standard roof. Nothing challenging for someone who does this for a living. So this can't be the reason. Ben, if you simply didn't want to do this job, why didn't you just tell me? That would have been the professional (and kind) thing to do.
