I have an "odd" car- a 2011 Smart ForTwo-- so maintenance on this car is a bit of a challenge- as most people don't get how to turn the car on, let alone service it. After absolutely being DONE with my dealership auto shop ($500 for an OIL CHANGE and basic tune-up? I think NOT!)-- my husband and I decided to take our business elsewhere. I use Yelp to check out most places before going, and I saw that Highline had great reviews, so I thought, "What the heck? Can't be as bad as my dealership!" Try- best auto shop I've EVER been to. Honestly, as a woman, I think most mechanics are kinda sleezy and try to take advantage of the fact that I am a woman. Not Wes or Highline. They are the epitome of professional. I've been there three times now, and I've never once felt like they were trying to pull the "wool over my eyes" or rip me off. The prices are more than fair (especially since they regularly run the $75 for $100 certificates on Yelp), the service is fast (in fact, they can usually get me in the same day!), and they are so patient, honest, and kind (as I usually ask a thousand questions). Bottom Line: In this life, you need a few people: a good hairstylist, a good banker, and a good mechanic. Wes and Highline are literally the BEST in Arizona. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

Following up on my last review! I did bring my car back a month later to get the non-urgent work needed done. Everyone at Highline took great care of me. The car is still running great, I've had zero issues, and they explained everything that they did and needed to do well. I am very thankful that I have a mechanic in Phoenix that I trust. I recommend them fully and tell all of my friends about them. My car loves HIGHLINE! read more

Competitive price and quality work. It's the cleanest shop I have ever seen! Wes, the owner, is honest and very customer focused. Took my 2000 Subaru in to replace the steering rack and, not only did I spend 15% compared to some of the competitors, but was completed in less than a day and my car feels like it did when it was new. 3 months have gone by with about 10,000 miles and no issues whatsoever. These guys are great! read more

Brakes were squeaking, so I found this place on Yelp with a lot of good reviews. I figured it was worth a shot since it's close to home. My first impression was how clean and organized the garage looked. Kurt was very friendly, had my Honda Fit brought in relatively quickly, quoted us a reasonable price, told us it would be an 60-90 minutes, then offered a vehicle for us to borrow while the work was being done. The waiting area isn't very large and they have a TV in there, so we took the vehicle and got some errands done while waiting. We came back to get my car with the new brakes installed, used a Yelp deal to save some money, and not once was I offered an upsell on anything while I was there. They did what I asked and were honest about what they would do and how long it would take. I'll definitely be back. read more

When it comes to cars, especially foreign cars, it's nearly impossible to find someone you can trust. At Highline Import auto, I was treated with respect and honesty. The owner took the time to explain everything in full detail. Owning a BMW is an expensive choice once your warranty runs out, so having a shop like this is very comforting.I won't ever take my car back to the local dealership for that reason. Thank you Highline import auto! Great service !!! Keep up the good work! Tess Balingit read more

Wes was recommended to me by a friend who told me about the quality work his shop does. I called Wes and spoke to him about what I needed done to my Civic and he was incredibly helpful, even giving me an idea of what I had to look forward to without even seeing my car first. He was courteous, honest, and very easy to work with. I took my car in and they took care of everything quickly, at a really great rate. He asked me to inspect everything before I left, willing to make any minor tweaks that I needed on the spot. I think he even vacuumed the interior of my car, because I don't remember it being so clean when i dropped it off... All in all, I recommend him to anyone who's weary of getting ripped off by other places. He's the real deal, and I don't trust anyone else to do an equal job, let alone a better one. In fact, I am taking my car back to him next week for a couple other things i wasn't able to knock out on my first trip. Thanks for all the help Wes! read more

I came across the fabulous folks at Highline when my Buick was having issues (yes they do domestic cars too). I was referred by a previous colleague of mine after my long time mechanic passed away suddenly. I have to say from GO I was impressed, it's difficult to find an honest mechanic and these guys do what they said they were going to do...fix my car...and a bonus they took care of me for less than the competition. The shop is very clean, the employees are always kind and considerate, they have great hours being open till 5:30pm most days and I've never felt pressured in any way on any visit. They have never tried to sell me on anything 'extra' although if they see an obvious issue they do tell you about it. I've asked several questions about various things with my car and never have I been told "Oh you need to come back and fix XYZ right away or else". My car has seen the inside of Highline on several occasions in the year that I've become aware of the shop and I'm always treated with the utmost respect (I'm a girl and many shops think I'm stupid when it comes to cars...I'm not). My car was having weird issues where it would simply die after turning...the first attempt at fixing the issue did fail although when I took the car back they did finally find the trouble (electrical) and even though it did cost me additional money, I know they worked on it a long time to diagnose it (Electrical is often a nightmare) and in the end I feel I was treated fairly, had my car back in a short amount of time and was even offered a bit of a 'discount' since the first attempt didn't cure the problem...but in my opinion it likely prevented a future problem. I'll also add that I received a message from Highline a day or so after picking up my car just making sure my car was doing ok and the issue repaired. That says a lot to me. They cared. I will not hesitate to continue to have Wes and his team of capable and honest mechanics work on my vehicle. Give them a try. These are good people with a conscience! read more

I called Highline after seeing there great reviews on Yelp. I spoke to Wes there and explained we were looking to purchase a used car near this company and were in a bit of a hurry to have it checked out as we needed to purchase the car soon. We had heard a strange noise that sounded like it could be the transmission. Wes said to bring it buy and they could listen to it to see if he felt there could be a problem. We were to be there by 4:15 but my husband and daughter took a wrong exit and did not show up until nearly 4:45! However Wes still took the car out for a drive and came back and let us know it sounded fine and he did not feel there was any issues with it and we still hope there isn't but at least he took time out even though they were closing to check it out for us! My husband said Wes was great to talk with and appreciated his time and help! Thank you Wes and Highline Auto! read more

I'm someone that has had many years experience with cars needing repair. The 2009 Prius has some unusual challenges that many mechanics have insufficient experience to repair, and if they do, they over-charge for exaggerated diagnoses of repairs needed. Toyota failed to notify us of a recall on instrument cluster years back, but I'm grateful that this needed repair, out of my pocketbook, was solved by Wes and his team, that now served as a link to the best auto repair around! Their excellent communication,( which is rare in this industry), their kindness, and humor, along with talent, gives me peace of mind for future repairs. What a Silver Lining! read more

There is so much to say about these fine people but what I would say is that they are highly trust worthy and that they do care about people and give the best prices! I'm not from Arizona, I drove down from Nevada (not super long, some 5 Hrs) with my Lexus IS250 to come see them and I will do it again in a heart beat! Well worth the drive! The service is impecable! The shop is clean as can be! Staff and owners are there to help! I can tell it's ran by family and that they are VERY honest and fair! This is by far the greatest shop I have ever been to!! And I am old!! (In my 30's but still) This place is legit! Wes is very profesional and knows how to run a business and also knows about cars! Michael helped me and he is profesional as well! I didn't get the gentleman's name but he was at the front desk helping people as well and he was very nice! He even came out as we were leaving to make sure we had our temp plate in place to not get pulled over by law enforcement! I mean, who does that?!!... they do!! Because they are excellent in what they do! I will be returning to this place whenever I need profesional work done! read more

I took my BMW to the dealership for a door lock issue and they "found" other issues that needed immediate service. They quoted me over $4k for the repairs they recommended. I held off and only had the door locks done because a friend had recommended Highline Import Auto. I figured it couldn't be any worse. So I took it in and gave them the quote from the dealership. They ended up not having to do all those repairs as they inspected everything the dealership quoted and it turns out I only needed to replace the rear brakes and recharge the a/c, everything else was fine. I was able to get a loaner car from them while my work was done, which only took 1/2 a day. I highly recommend you give Highline Import Auto a chance. Wes and his crew were friendly and professional. I ended up paying only a fraction of what the dealership quoted me for the actual repairs that I needed. read more

We are a house with three cars that are well used. These guys are great! Super friendly, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and fast. They really take the stress out of car issues. The air-bag light on my daughters Accord came on - I immediately thought this was going to be a complicated and expensive fix. I couldn't have been more wrong - it was easy, inexpensive, and FAST. My '05 Suburban was leaking oil. Again I wondered how bad and again they took care of me and it was very affordable compared to similar jobs that I have had done at other shops. I have been paying car maintenance and repair for the better part of 35 years and these guys are by far the best. read more

Wes and his team did a great job on my van. I gave them a laundry list to get done in one day, thinking there was no way. I was pleasantly surprised when they knocked it all out. Great experience with a great shop. Wes and Michael who we worked with were both fantastic. We took a car we were considering purchasing from a local dealer to them to get inspected. They did an excellent and thorough job and helped us determine that this was a horrible car to purchase, they then connected us to a great local dealer that they work with who we ended up purchasing a car from. We will definitely be back when we need any work done. These guys are quality, highly recommended. read more

Good guys. Fixed my kids AC in her Acura and the whole thing was zero hassle and a good experience. Seem like some solid guys. They also did her front brakes. THE BEST! No joke DONT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!! I went to the Brent Berge Toyota and was quoted $140 just to find the problem with my Prius and was told that the cost to fix it would be starting at $400 but go up from there. Plus they have the best candy and drinks you'll find. Think of the best house to trick-or-treat at, yeah just like that. I don't leave reviews often but they earned it! read more

I've been using Highline over the past 5 years or so. They're a great alternative to the dealer. Fast turnaround time, quality parts and they get it done right the first time which is huge. The work was decent. Parts were cheap. Got charged about $300 labor fee for two simple problems. What I really didn't like was that they call you over and over from an unknown number after you get your car serviced and they make you go through a phone survey without even asking for permission. I chose to go to this shop because of all the good reviews it gets but now I'm thinking that they aren't really honest reviews. It's much easier to tell people how you really feel about the place when you can write about it behind closed doors. But when they call you directly and ask you how many stars you would give them and the reasons why and if they can use your reviews, of course they are only going to post the good ones. Sneaky. I probably won't be going back. read more

I will keep a lengthy problem brief, but this is not a shop to which I will return. I was charged approx $900 (a standard book rate for this) for repair of an oil leak that took them less than 3 hours, yet a leak persisted, requiring repeated trips back to them. I left each time with the feeling that they only wanted to avoid any responsibility for an inadequate repair and that they only wished for me to accept it and leave, at one point even being told that my 'personality' was the problem. At one point I paid another shop to look at the repair and they told me it was not up to the standards they set for themselves. Eventually Highline checked the torque on the bolts and told me one was not tightened to specifications and this appeared to solve the leak. After a series of quite unpleasant communications with the owner, he did make a minimal effort to make amends and said that there were some lessons they learned. (only because of this do I raise my rating to 2 stars) I sincerely hope so, but would urge others to be cautious. I have never before left a review anywhere for a service received, but felt compelled to do so here. read more

I believe they can be and are a good repair shop, I wish I had something better to say. Just be careful and listen to what the owner Wes will tell you. Get it in writing upfront. After negotiating a fair price I thanked the owner for the "pay cash discount" and how the other repair shop wanted over a 1000.00 more. The next day or so the price went up significantly. I agreed with a trust (wife works with his wife). The control arms had to be replaced instead of just the ball joints, and the alignment will be covered ...verbal over the phone. A year later I am replacing bearings and brake parts when I notice not new control arms. I text and get a reply " boy this is the job that never ends", continuing with" I pulled up the reciept and it says ball joint replacement, no mention of control arms". ( comment stemming from my light ribbing on him and mainly because after the ball joint replacement I felt I had to take my truck somewhere else to do the alignment properly; We had some unprofessional dialect back and forth, accused me of extortion, and got my wife and his wife involved. Ya fun. Highline wanted to sell me new tires or rotate the tires to do the alignment over again which I understand can be related. I rotated them, two weeks later same problem, so I bought quality tires and alignment cheaper, closer, somewhere else. I distinctly remember him telling me control arms because I researched ball joints online. Some need to be pressed out or as in my 1998 dodge the uppers were riveted on and needed grinding to get them off to replace with bolt on style. I remember mentioning he can replace the whole unit instead of pressing out the old and pressing in new, whatever is better and easier. I know enough to understand the lingo. I attended all the auto mechanic classes except engines at Arizona Automotive Institute in the 1980's but did not stay in the field. Thats my experience. Maybe he learned something from this on how to treat people. read more

Wes, the owner, was very helpful. I thought something was wrong with the engine or transmission and took the vehicle to him to get an opinion. He drove it around the block and narrowed it down to lesser issues. He got the car on a lift and quickly nailed down the problem - the bearings in one of my wheels were badly shot. The problem was swiftly fixed and I got a tune up at a great rate, too! NOTE: I had the bearing replaced in another wheel weeks before going to Highline and the cost was 20% higher - Highline provided great honest service and saved me large $$!
