This is a decent cocktail bar with some great looking and very thoughtful and original creations. We had a bit of a snafu getting our table after we were told it was ready (ended up helping the hostess prepare a different one for us, actually), but overall the service was good. It's got all the chill vibes you would want, the crowd was diverse, and the chairs were comfortable. The music selection seemed a bit off, but maybe it was just that night. First time at Highball, first off the location is great. About a ten minute Uber from downtown Phoenix, the speakeasy vibe is not lost as you climb up to an actually quite large bar. The drinks were very flavorful, for me they were a bit on the sweeter side. It's Saturday night, around 10 and I'm admittedly tired (I'm approaching my late 40's and 10PM is late to me!) It's dark, slightly dreamy and the speakers are playing some Kodak Black! My friend and I are sit at the bar. We've each got enough energy for 1 drink apiece. I order the Tropic Thunder, which is a Vodka and fruit based punch and it's delicious. I also order us some Kimchi Popcorn and that is equally delicious. My word, Highball is setting the high watermark for cool drinking spots that Saturday night. So now we've each had a drink apiece and are ready to leave. One for the road before our Uber come to pick us up? Why the hell not? We each have a Miller High Life. My first High Life ever....I really like it! What a great end to a fun Saturday night! I made a reservation for 3 people this time for 8PM and they were ready for us on time as usual! I honestly wanted to get like 6 or 7 drinks but obviously didn't lol. Everything on their new menu (posted 1/23/23) is amazing. I got 3 drinks including the Shapeshifter, Typhoon Lagoon, and Made in the Shade. All were amazing! I love tigers and they are my favorite animals so I was pleasantly surprised to see a drink in a tiger mug lol (Shapeshifter). All 3 of those drinks were very good with varying flavor profiles but all a bit on the sweet side. There is something for everyone on this menu. Make a reservation for this nice and dimly lit bar that is particular great for dates (there were a lot of couples coming in and out this particular Friday), friends catching up, or just a regular hangout spot. I saw maybe 20 people in varying group sizes get turned away in the span of our 2 hr enjoyment since their reservations get full on weekends. I also noticed it has been getting a bit louder inside than I remember from a few years ago, but there were like 15 people in the bar back then versus 35 lol. Such a cute place with a great vibe! My girlfriends and I did a little girls night out and got dressed up and had a great time trying all the drinks. We each got something different and their array of flavors and tastes were amazing! There is definitely something on the menu for everyone. I also got the Marinated Mozzarella & Tomato which was a great light dish to eat by yourself or share that complimented the drinks. The only reason why this review didn't get the full five stars is because we made a reservation and there was a mix up with another party which we knew about because the staff was talking about it very obviously and loudly in front of our table which made it really awkward when I felt like they could have had the conversation in the back or by the hostess stand. I was going to get the bahm bahm which was the fruity pebble drink but was warned it tastes a lot like mescal so I decided not to.
