Cappuccino, hot latte, iced latte
Mrs L.

Whoa! Second time here and again what a beautiful meal. Seated facing the ocean outside on the patio was amazing! Staff is upbeat and adorable. We went for the basic breakfast of the scrambled eggs with maple sausage and thin waffles- I added spinach to my eggs-- fantastic! Husband got the Rancheros egg plate- whoa, the crispy tortilla and smooth beans are delicious with all the ingredients. We had coffee drinks too- cappuccino and lattes. Perfecto. I left relaxed and happy. Coming back tomorrow for baked goods and another cappuccino. ;)

We added our name to the list... it was a busy morning..... they said 25 minutes... our table was ready in 10.... Jacob was our server.... He was very patient with all of us female's.... all wanting this and that... Jacob was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu as well as the area... we kept him hopping and he did a great job of keeping up... They're pretty strict with breakfast and lunch menu times... We all ordered different kinds of food... I haven't been disappointed yet... We parked in the parking structure... a few blocks from the beach...

The overall experience was disappointing due to a clear lack of quality control and execution. The fried chicken tenders were unusually dark (overcooking or poor oil management). The flavor and texture reflected that as well. The Hawaiian kimchi fried rice (?)wasn't actually fried. The kimchi tasted raw and barely warmed, mixed into hot rice without proper cooking. It felt unfinished and difficult to eat--I only had a couple of bites before stopping. What made this more concerning was noticing that another table also left more than half of their fried rice untouched, suggesting this wasn't an isolated issue. Overall, the food felt overthought yet under-executed. Some dishes lacked a clear identity and came across as confused rather than intentional. If the kitchen isn't confident in executing certain dishes, it would be better to remove them from the menu entirely. Restaurants should serve food that guests can reasonably enjoy and finish. Creativity is welcome, but it needs to be supported by clarity, consistency, and proper execution--unfortunately, that balance was missing here.

Spicy BLT

High/ low is a solid brunch spot with spectacular views. I've tried a few things on the menu, but the spicy BLT is my favorite. I love coming here and sitting outside on nice days. Service is a bit slow, but other than that it's great!

Decent joint. Service was fantastic. I had the Hash (was not what I was used to, but was decent), and my wife had a pancakes and sausage. I thought her sausage was delish. We both enjoyed a couple cocktails. Not bad. Love that they are dog friendly. Overall was an average experience. Nothing really "Wowed" us.

Vanilla latte

This place was great! The location and setting is perfect being right across the beach. The vanilla latte was good. I also got the breakfast burrito (I ate it before any pictures) and it was great! The service was friendly and had good recommendations.

Great breakfast location near the ocean. Make reservations to avoid long wait. You can enjoy a latte while you wait which is delicious. Spent Christmas morning here studying enjoying my coffee which was refreshing. The location is right accross the pier and decor is hip concrete modern inside and oceaside beach wood outside. The staff is always welcoming and very attentive. Would recommend this place.

Had a lovely lunch here at High/Low. They have a great outside patio which has nice ocean views from across the street.. The menu has a variation of offerings leaning towards brunch/lunch. I had the grilled cheese & tomato soup & my friend had a yummy egg scramble dish. Friendly & attentive servers. Good spot to bring out of towners

Rockfish Ceviche

I've been coming to high/low since it's opening around 5 years ago. The food (classic Southern California/American fare) is consistently delicious. The cocktails are fresh and inventive. When I am wanting a coffee + pastry and a walk on the beach, I love to get an Americano and their almond croissant and stroll the pier. When I want to grab lunch with a friend or bring a guest from out of town to a restaurant with an ocean view, high/low is at the top of my list! I came today with a friend and we enjoyed lunch. She had the rockfish ceviche and I had the chicken and avocado sando. And we both chose a little sparkling wine to go with. The sando was great, with the bread being perfectly buttered and lightly toasted. I was grateful to the server for the suggestion of swapping out the coleslaw for sweet potato fries. My friend said the ceviche, which is served with plantain chips was so good, she ended up scooping up the juice with a spoon! Recieved excellent service- chill, knowledgable about the menu and friendly. The price for a sit down meal is somewhat expensive, but worth it. Will happily pay for scrumptious food and an oceanfront view. High/Low is located in front of and attached to the Mission Pacific Hotel. Parking can be a challenge, but there is a Pay lot nearby and metered street parking. Looking forward to going back soon!

I've tried a good portion of the menu, and some of my favorites are the Bam Bam Burger, Jughead Burger, carne asada bowl, and the monster chili dog. The owner took our order and was incredibly friendly, helpful, and informative. He described all of the dishes and you can tell he genuinely loves his resturant and what he's doing there. At one point he mentioned that he's proud of the portions because he thinks a lot of vegan resturants tend to skimp a little. He was absolutely right to be proud. I had the French Dip and it was honestly one of the best sandwiches I've had. The stek was sliced thin and really tasty, the cheze in the sandwich was perfectly gooey (which is rare for plant based cheze), and the aujus was the real star. I've honestly had nothing like it before. It was also a really hearty portion and super filling. My wife had the Jambi sandwich -- a hash brown wafflle with fried chikun, sunflower swiss, seitan bakon between two pieces of french toast -- plus chili fries on the side. The sandwich itself was impressively big and definitely lived up to the owner's point about portions. We've both been vegan for about 10 years and always appreciate finding places doing creative food like this. We live about an hour and a half away, but we're already figuring out when we can make the trek back for another visit.

Fresh hand cut thick long French Fries without a ton of seasoning or oil arrived: one with a cashew cheese truffle sauce, one with no salt, and one salted as requested. My daughter loved her reuben. I loved my blt. The two Caesar salads for the table disappeared quickly because their dressing is unbelievable! Let's see .... what didn't we eat is probably smarter than what did we eat. Beet ketchup, The C Word (braised cabbage), a couple of cronic sushi rolls, and there was a special lemon creme brûlée. Everyone enjoyed everything they ate, including my almost 3 year old grandson (they brought out a specially sliced fruit bowl for him). They offered many choices for kids, but he just wanted fruit. Hope you had as wonderful a Mother's Day as I did. Yes. We appreciated eating healthy and not walking away stuffed but instead satisfied. They were selling plants. Freshly harvested from the garden, I tried the panko crusted charcoal roasted eggplant - it was beautiful, delicious, creative and everything wonderful packed into a dish. It was topped with a very unique, naturally salty plant called the asparagus of the sea (I've literally never had it anywhere else besides here). I also tried the c word (which is wine braised cabbage), the beet ruben sandwich, and the mushroom toast. Everything was SO GOOD! The service is also on another level. I was soooo excited about the Philly connection, as I'm very familiar with cheesesteaks having lived near Philly in a past life. Well, I was sorely disappointed. We were told that the bread is flown in daily from Philly. Well, I don't know where it's coming from because it's definitely not the same bread as what they normally use there. The sandwich and meat were dry and flavorless. Totally underwhelming unfortunately. So then we saw that they made key lime pie there too! Again, I was SUPER excited because key lime pie is my favorite dessert of all time. And again...disappointment. I took one glance and saw that it was light green in color and knew I was gonna be mad. Yall, Key lime pie is yellow. You should NEVER add food coloring. That's just gross and inaccurate. The texture and flavor were also off. Texturally it was way too thick and dense, which would have been fine if it actually tasted like key lime. But it was severely lacking in that tart key lime flavor that it's known for. I'd definitely go back because of the service and vibe. But I'll maybe try a burger and the cheesecake instead.

My fiancée & I had seen Parlor Doughnuts numerous times after the Oceanside Sunset Market. & every single 1 of those times, we were already too full from grazing at all the food stands by then to give it a try. So on a Saturday afternoon, when we just happened to be nearby, we popped in for some impulse buy doughnuts. With a staggering variety of delicious looking toppings/ flavors, the possibilities looked enticingly intriguing. Staff behind the counter was friendly attentive, & helpful. Although there are some savory options available, which seemed to me like pizza toppings on doughnuts, we stuck with sweet: maple bacon & bourbon caramel. Tried & true flavor combinations, both. But the dough, whoa. For starters, the 2 doughnuts we got didn't have holes. That actually makes a difference in how the doughnut cooks. Secondly, the dough ate more like bread dough than a doughnut. Doughnuts have a hole for a reason. You see, it's physics, son. When you consider how thermodynamics affects an oblate spheroid vs. a toroidal sphere, it becomes evident that a doughnut without a hole will not cook evenly throughout inside. In fact, this was specifically proven on MasterChef Canada Season 8, Episode 8 during a doughnut pressure test. In that episode, Andres forgot to put holes in his doughnuts & they were undercooked in the center. Hey, I did start this review with admitting I'm a nerd who watches too many cooking competition shows. Uniform doneness aside, there was also the breadiness. If I'd been told these doughnuts were some kind of new take on Pan Dulce, maybe I would've liked them more. But given the expectation of a doughnut, what I tried at Parlor Doughnuts just wasn't it. The staff was great, & the toppings were fine. But with the word "dough" literally in the name of the product, to come up short there leaves something to be desired.
