I had a group birthday celebration here a couple years ago. My friend changed the reservation to the private area of the restaurant! It was the perfect spot for our group! My ordered a spicy pomegranate margarita and I had a mocktail. The drinks were pretty and refreshing! We shared the spicy Korean wings, Cantina buffalo wings, blue fin tuna poke, woodfired garlic shrimp, and crispy cauliflower tempura bites. Everything was pretty tasty! Others chose the classic margherita pizza, white bean hummus, and a double meatball hero sandwich. For dessert, my friend treated me to churro beignets. They were warm and came with a trio of dips- Ghirardelli chocolate, caramel, and sweet cream leche. It was the perfect addition to the birthday cake I had.
This place was alright in my book! It's on a very busy street close to Pacific Beach Pier with a ton of competing businesses nearby. The vibes were nice, and the inside seating was very laid back with couches and a relaxed feel. They also have outdoor patio seating and indoor bar seating in two separate sections of the restaurant. Prices for food and drinks and the quality are decent, but could be better in some areas. The service was okay some of the food took a lot longer than expected and we had a little bit of miscommunication with the happy hour menu. But note it's only during the week NOT on the weekends even if the waiters tell you otherwise lol.
Staff was friendly and helpful. We sat for awhile before our server got to us but he was excellent after that, friendly. Attentive. Quick. He brought water for our doggie, Maverick. To be fair it was during Thursday night during football so it was busy. The vibe was fun and lively with people everywhere. Food was excellent. With started with a giant pretzel and split a pizza, which we took half home with us. Will definitely be back during our trip here.
Sports bar with weak ass lemonade 4 sure. Good parking, or you can get unucky...Lolol Burger is very good. Mac & Cheese can use some work. Service excellent. Quick friendly. Price point okay.
Came for a birthday brunch and was pretty impressed! The brunch menu is until 1pm but you can still order the lunch side, which was nice. The inside was spacious and had good natural lighting. I liked that the pizza was made in house with their pizza oven! The scramble was good as well. Overall I'd consider coming again for their brunch. Their parking is free 2 hour validation too if you eat there.
We came to celebrate my mom's birthday here before our steamboat excursion . The place was pretty busy but we got seated right away . Our waiter came and took our drinks orders shortly after . I decided on the slicipoli pizza and a side of fries and overall the food was good . However our service was just okay . I don't know if our waitress was having an off day or what but she kept darting off if we asked for something and didn't ask if we needed anything else . The ambience in this place was nice as well .
This use to be the best taco spot for cheap tacos & drinks lol back in the day IYKYK . Their decor was so cute & nostalgic. We came in for breakfast- the Greek yogurt bowl was great w/granola & berries & honey. They have cool kids toys to play with which was awesome. And my niece had the breakfast burrito which she said was super tasty. I'd like to come back & try more on the lunch/dinner menu side. The service was pretty superb, ladies were super attentive & friendly.
Bella at Hideaway in Pacific Beach is hands-down one of the best bartenders I've come across. She's friendly, attentive, and always has a smile on her face that makes the whole place feel more welcoming. Even when the bar is busy, she keeps a positive attitude and makes sure everyone is taken care of. The drinks were made perfectly, service was fast, and her energy really added to the atmosphere. What stood out most was how personable she was, great conversation, great recommendations, and a genuine attitude that made the experience even better. It's employees like Bella who turn a good bar into a place you want to keep coming back to. If you're heading to Hideaway, do yourself a favor and grab a seat at Bella's bar. Outstanding service, great drinks, and an all around fantastic experience.
Walking up to the restaurant, i definitely knew i was in La Jolla. Family friendly, sports bar kind of vibes - but definitely on the 'upperscale' side of things (for my family at least). All of the serving/bartending staff is extremely kind & fast paced. We ordered the soft pretzel, served warm with a cheese fondue & dijon mustard - the fondue was IMMACULATE, texture unmatched and flavor so savory. The pizza itself is something rave about, which is cooked in a fire oven. The presentation in everything is 10/10, we will definitely be back!! Thank you guys for an amazing Thursday evening.
The Hideaway in Pacific Beach is the perfect San Diego beach vibe you want in SoCal. It's all open air, the staff is amazing, the bar food is elevated and the cocktails are just enough to have a proper cocktail or a great beer or RBV It's absolutely one of our favorites in PB and we go at least once or twice every time we make it to San Diego. The decor is very cool retro. All the old school stuff you enjoyed back in the day you'll find strewn about in every room. There are tons of cool nooks and cranny rooms where you can chill with your crew. You can even grab one with a fire pit which is fun in the always perfect 70's'ish weather. When you're in San Diego in the Mission/Pacific Beach area the Hideaway is a must. Just go and be happy. You'll thank us . Salute @thejohnnycocktail
We're from Houston and been wandering around San Diego for a week taking in the activities and fortunately on our last day here we found this place. Wish we had found it four days ago best place ever Pizza, Wings,and lobster rolls you name it they have it and it's all delicious. The atmosphere is up and lively and I don't think there is a rule that you can break that would bother them. I love the table next to us, They brought their dog and the dog got served before they did. Another word, pet friendly best find in San Diego. Sidenote, ordered the mac & cheese for my two year-old daughter It was so good everybody ate it. The margarita pizza is to die for but nothing beats the lobster roll.

Despite the crowd--which skewed notably younger and high-energy--the wait for a table was a manageable 15 minutes. The decor is a standout feature: a seamless blend of surf culture and mid-century modern design that feels both nostalgic and trendy. The staff were genuinely friendly, keeping the mood light even as the dining room stayed packed. The Food & Drink The kitchen's timing was a bit of a mixed bag. Our drinks and salads arrived almost immediately, but there was a significant "dead zone" of waiting before the main plates hit the table. * Arugula & Fennel Salad: Fresh and decent, though it was a bit "dry" for my taste; it could have used a more generous pour of dressing. * Classic Steak Frites: Perfectly seasoned with great flavor. * Garlic Fries: The star of the side dishes. They paired exceptionally well with the blue cheese dipping sauce, which was a nice (and bold) departure from standard ketchup. * Short Ribs: Decent. Great spot in PB for dinner before a night out! The food is great as well as the drinks. On the weekends after dinner service ends they convert the main dining area into a dance floor with great music. Overall a fun spot if you grab dinner beforehand and stick around. If you're just coming here for the drinks and dancing there can be a long line! read more

My family and I came in for some shareables and drinks on the 4th of July. It was busy, but there were different areas to sit in. We loved the eclectic furniture and vibe. The hostess that was helping us placed us directly in the sun. I asked to please sit out of the sun, and was placed in the sun twice more. Another hostess said we could sit at a booth inside, but the original hostess had us move back to the sun. It almost seemed personal. The manager, Calvin, was very nice and found us a nice shaded area to sit in. Our server, Shae, was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the sea salt soft pretzel with house cheese fondue and mustard, the Hideaway Italian meatballs with garlic bread, cesar salad and white bean hummus with crispy pita bread. Happy hour from 3:30-6:30pm! They had great prices for drink and honestly could be getting a double shot cocktail for $1 more! The pretzel was a sold snack and the mustard was delicious and full of horseradish. Definitely cleared my sinuses with that in the best way possible. Came here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by how great the food was! They were able to accommodate our order with a pizza to only have the meat on half which was great. They got our whole order correct (but group of 8) on a busy Saturday night. Would definitely say the hack is to go to dinner and then just for dancing so you don't need to wait in the line. The service was a little mediocre but it was a very busy Saturday night so it's understandable. Very fun to have the football games on too. The espresso martini was unique with a hint of an orange liquor. Would definitely return for dinner again! read more

Everything was tasty for the most part, I didn't really like the wings though. It was more on the tangy buffalo wings side than a Korean flavored sauce. The chocolate with the beignets were a little too bitter for me& the beignets itself were a little mushy on the inside. The patio has table seating but it was a 30min wait so we opted to sit at the bar instead. They do have the retractable shades to adjust when the sun moves, so be aware when they seat you, the sun could be beaming on you. We had moved from the corner of the bar towards the middle at one point. Pretty much casual bar vibes. Service might need a little work. The girl that was helping us at the bar, was also the bartender. She asked for a card to be held to order. She didn't really check up on us too much after the initial orders. Had to flag her down a few times for drink orders. &when I asked for the check she charged my card& gave me the receipt instead of asking if I was gonna even pay with that card which I heard her ask the 2 guys to the side of me when they asked for the check right after me. read more
Spacious venue with their own validated parking lot. Modern, comfortable, at home lounge decor and great for groups, or get a secluded table in a nook and cranny. Large bars. Great place for brunch and drinks! TVs to boot. Tried an omelet, arugula side salad, and potatoes side. The omelette and salad were nothing too special, but nice and healthy. My first thoughts were against selecting a restaurant 1 block from the beach, which I anticipated would have average food and less-than-average service; based on the Yelp rating, reviews, menu selections, and proximity to my location, I decided we'd check this place out... and so glad we did! Everyone we encountered -- from the host desk, to our server Brooke, to other staff members -- were all positive, energetic, & pleasant (offering a smile), helpful (even when not assigned to our table), and professional! Impressive... and quite a reflection on management. Hubby repeatedly raved about his Charred Black & Bleu Burger ($17.50) -- which was what I'd first had in mind; instead, I opted for something out of my norm, New England Lobster Roll ($20.50) -- it was good but don't think I'd necessarily order it, again. They offered a nice variety of sides of which we ordered: Seasonal Roasted Veggies ($5.50), Arugula Fennel Salad ($6.75/$5 with burger or sandwich), and Truffle Parmesan Fries ($10.50/$7.25 with burger or sandwich) -- all 3 very tasty! Wow!! Such a great place!! The vibe and atmosphere is so fun and all the people there made it better. Off the bat, we somehow came at the perfect time on a weekend night and a huge line formed after us- it's a very very popular place it seems so get a reservation! We walked up hoping to get a seat and all of the hostesses were so kind and accommodating. They got us seated in the bar somehow right away even though they were slammed. So lively inside and beautiful lighting. We just stopped in for a quick drink and bite as we were visiting and were blown away by the amazing options. The lobster mac was of course delicious, but the pretzel was a group hit!! For drinks we got the frozen fruit mango margarita (the favorite! so sweet but hit the spot), the bellini spritz frappe (super refreshing and calming), the passion fruit margarita (great quality), and the dreamsicle (delicious flavors). After 10 pm this place is crazy packed with people lined up to party, ever since the chainsmokers did a surprise performance or something. I think it's a fun place to hang out but also if you're here earlier in the night, they have great dinner selections. The lobster roll was to die for and i really liked the salmon as well. read more

I don't know if this is a good way to phrase this, but Hideaway has a universally appealing atmosphere/setting! The decor, music, open kitchen, open dining room- patio, two separate bars. Multiple choices of seating types: family style rounds tops, high half booths, regular booths, lounge, patio chairs couches.... Catering to all comfort dining levels! Our server Mary, absolute pleasure! Friendly, quick, thorough and just the right amount of attentive. FOOD! Best I have actually had in SoCal! I'm visiting now, but I was born and raised here. Came down to spend time with family and it did not disappoint! Too many details to put into words, you'll just have to try it your self! Kid friendly: instead of the messy crayons that toddlers are determined to believe are edible, they provide an Etch-a-Sketch! My grandson was entertained the entire time. I've been wanting to check this place out for a while now.. finally took a friend there to get a drink and long story short it was underwhelming. (Slow Sunday night review) The hostess was approaching and kind. However after getting bar seating it took about 10 minutes to get the bartenders attention, after getting our own menues. (Like what!? lol). He got 1/2 the order right, so we left after one drink. Casual spot, however didn't feel a vibe. Lmk if I'm wrong. read more
We went here for happy hour while shopping in the area and wasn't really all that hungry. We got the pretzel which was $17. All I can say is that they understood the assignment. The pretzel was chewy soft and had the right flavor. It came with a mustard Sauce and also a cheese sauce overall, I would say give this place a try. Items look good as well. I originally saw this spot on Instagram, and then happen to be across the street from it. I tried the Spicy Pomegranate Margarita which I loved. It was not too sweet at all. I also tired the Passionfruit Margarita which was good but sweeter than the other drink. I thought it was kind of odd there was a significant difference in price between the two cocktails. We ordered some wings and fries to snack on, which all tasted good. It was a chill vibe during the late afternoon on, so I'd be curious to come back at night to see how the vibe changes. read more

We celebrated the Aries of the family with dinner here. Our party of 10 was 1 person short as my other nephew wasn't feeling well We were able to park in their lot. A win. Aside from the interesting decor/layout, everything else was meh for me. I assumed the tip was already included with our tab due to the large size of our party. Every other establishment I've been to with a party of 5+ already includes the tip which typically makes the service questionable. The woman who waited on us did more socializing with her coworkers than check in on us. I had to hunt her down to get a second drink. I opted for the burger only because I was in agreement with my niece that if she gets the chicken sammich we could go halfsies. That burger had what looked like 40% lettuce or whatever greens they used. We all got our orders ahead of my sister who got a salad. Her salad got to the table last. We all got our orders a solid 5 or so minutes ahead of her. I was in utter confusion. The food was ok. The highlight for me was the kombucha. read more

If you're looking for a spot to grab a bite in PB, this could be your spot. Food was pretty good, more of a bar spot then for food, pretty loud and crowded depending on the night, but never the less I'd suggest giving it a try if you're in the area. read more

Great spot to hang out at and enjoy some good food. The service was great and the pretzel and lobster roll were excellent. The only thing that wasn't so great is the parking. Although the restaurant has its own parking lot, you have to pay at a pay station which we didn't notice when we arrived. We asked about the free parking validation and we were just told to ask up front but by the time we went to our car, we had already received a ticket. So be aware about parking. Other than that, the restaurant is a good place to visit for food and drinks. read more

We went during lunch hour and it we were sat immediately. We were in the market for a small, light snack so we sat at the bar and ordered the roasted vegetables and the arugula fennel salad. Matt was our bartender and was very nice and made great conversation. The food was delicious! Very light and tasty and the perfect snack. This place is steps from the beach and the cool beach weather was great with the open to the outside seating at the bar. read more

Came to the hideaway for dinner with a large party on a Saturday night. The staff out front were very sweet and let me inside after letting them know my group was already seated. Pretty intimidating seeing the LONG line outside even at 7 pm but I believe they were all waiting for the bar area since the restaurant converts to bar/club after 9ish. We ordered the spicoli pizza and truffle fries. Both were very good! The pizza was very pepperoni heavy if you're into that. Our waitress was soo sweet and attentive! We also celebrated a few birthdays and they gave out BJ shots . We also ordered some beignets to share but I would skip out on these. More so a dry donut hole in powdered sugar. Otherwise was a very successful night ! The restaurant is very beach house ambiance and quite the hot spot for college kids !! Surprisingly no wait on a Sunday morning for brunch for a group of 4. Food was good, drinks on the more expensive side, ambiance was really nice but service was pretty slow. Our server was very nice but food came out slow, drinks came out even slower (server had to check on it a couple times) + had to ask for a side of aioli and remind my server 3 separate times for (and then got charged $1.75 for it, lmao). Server acknowledged it should've come out sooner but still put it on the bill, which seems crazy but whatever. All in all, there's other spots in the area worth checking out. read more
This is a very fratty restaurant vibe, some seating but definitely seems more like a bar. They do validate parking which is super nice. The hostess & waitress were really friendly and attentive. I ordered the american burger and it was really good! My friend and I ordered girl math cocktails and they were really good. read more
