I originally saw this spot on Instagram, and then happen to be across the street from it. I tried the Spicy Pomegranate Margarita which I loved. It was not too sweet at all. I also tired the Passionfruit Margarita which was good but sweeter than the other drink. I thought it was kind of odd there was a significant difference in price between the two cocktails. We celebrated the Aries of the family with dinner here. Our party of 10 was 1 person short as my other nephew wasn't feeling well We were able to park in their lot. A win. Aside from the interesting decor/layout, everything else was meh for me. I assumed the tip was already included with our tab due to the large size of our party. Every other establishment I've been to with a party of 5+ already includes the tip which typically makes the service questionable. The woman who waited on us did more socializing with her coworkers than check in on us. I had to hunt her down to get a second drink. I opted for the burger only because I was in agreement with my niece that if she gets the chicken sammich we could go halfsies. That burger had what looked like 40% lettuce or whatever greens they used. We all got our orders ahead of my sister who got a salad. Her salad got to the table last. Service was fast. Every single one of us loved our dishes and I sampled all of my family's food. We had The hideaway burger, the Margherita pizza, the steak frites, the Korean wings, the shrimp garlic, roasted cauliflower, the Italian sub, and pesto pasta. We loved everything! Great spot to hang out at and enjoy some good food. The service was great and the pretzel and lobster roll were excellent. The only thing that wasn't so great is the parking. Although the restaurant has its own parking lot, you have to pay at a pay station which we didn't notice when we arrived. We asked about the free parking validation and we were just told to ask up front but by the time we went to our car, we had already received a ticket. So be aware about parking. Other than that, the restaurant is a good place to visit for food and drinks. read more

Came to the hideaway for dinner with a large party on a Saturday night. The staff out front were very sweet and let me inside after letting them know my group was already seated. Pretty intimidating seeing the LONG line outside even at 7 pm but I believe they were all waiting for the bar area since the restaurant converts to bar/club after 9ish. We ordered the spicoli pizza and truffle fries. Both were very good! The pizza was very pepperoni heavy if you're into that. Our waitress was soo sweet and attentive! We also celebrated a few birthdays and they gave out BJ shots . We also ordered some beignets to share but I would skip out on these. More so a dry donut hole in powdered sugar. Surprisingly no wait on a Sunday morning for brunch for a group of 4. Food was good, drinks on the more expensive side, ambiance was really nice but service was pretty slow. Our server was very nice but food came out slow, drinks came out even slower (server had to check on it a couple times) + had to ask for a side of aioli and remind my server 3 separate times for (and then got charged $1.75 for it, lmao). The staff is the best in Pacific Beach or anywhere for that matter. The young lady that helped us also gave us tourist recommendations for the zoo etc. She was great and would do well at any Michelin starred restaurant. Really enjoyed the food, but heads up, brunch is only served on the weekends! Two of us split the two plates which was perfect! The pancake was so fluffy and flavorful and mixed with the surfers breakfast it was an amazing breakfast combo. The actual restaurant design is beautiful with plenty of seating and TVs. We visited this restaurant shortly after it opened. It was packed! There was a younger crowd and it was a weekend evening, just to be aware if you're taking your family as we were. Wait to get a table was long but we walked to nearby shops while we waited. Service was speedy despite being packed and the food was amazing. As mentioned, it was crowded so it was quite loud. It was quite the scene to hang out with friends or perhaps even on a date! :) If I were to go again with the family, I would go for an early or late dinner, or for lunch. When this place isn't packed as the most popular bar in PB, you can actually sit down and enjoy a legit meal. And honestly, the food here is really good. I was pretty impressed with the menu. It is not overwhelming, but the options they do have are strong. I tried the steak frites with chimichurri and the burger, and both were absolutely killer. What an interesting place! I visited with my in-laws during a trip to SD. We arrived for a late dinner and were seated around 8:30 PM. As we walked in, I noticed a flyer advertising a "Bad Santa" party that night. It seemed out of character for the restaurant, which was swanky and cute. I ordered the chicken pot pie, and it was fabulous--highly recommend it! My husband also raved about their Old Fashioneds. We stayed long enough to see them clear a space for a DJ booth and dance floor. Slowly, a crowd of 20-somethings started to trickle in, and then we spotted Santa himself. Located in the heart of PB is Hideaway. It has a small lot. If you're lucky you can park in it and get validated parking for 2 and a half hours. The interior is a neat hang out. Bar, a lounge type area, and tables and booths are all spread out. I had a taste of their chicken pot pie which is a winner. I ended up ordering a lobster roll with salad. It was very good. My only knock is that there were pieces of lobster shell in the roll and I chewed on a few hard pieces. I'd be careful chewing this dish. Some event was going on so we tried being patient with the chaos but at the end i realized they charged me 6.25 for ONE slice of bread cut in half. My rare steak also looked barely cooked, had a few pieces and had diarrhea that night.
