I am not sure what happened yesterday (Sunday the 11th) but I didn't see a handler. There was a few humans that could have been directed by a handler; ex: leashes on dogs in the park and kids with dog treats. Luckily nothing big came from it but usually these things are big no no's at parks because it can cause some fights. Otherwise, Tailgate is amazing! We drive from South Austin to bring our kids and they are so happy to run and play and have their day! I will totally be going back and bringing any friend who I can wrangle!

Parking at Mutts was pretty smooth but it does look like it could be difficult on days or times where many owners decide to stop by. When entering there are a lot of security precautions in place ensuring that it would be VERY difficult for dogs to escape which is much appreciated. To get into the dog park itself you need to purchase a day pass which runs $14, there are other options like weekly, monthly, or even membership passes but as first timers we didn't want to commit too hard just yet. Ordering is pretty straightforward and the food options are simple, burgers and tenders and fries. They do also have a dog menu but it is very lacking for being a dog focused place, just two options for dogs and both involve peanut butter so in the case your dog is strange and doesn't like peanut butter then you're out of luck. There's a good amount of seating on the patio for food and the interior of the dog park also has a lot of seating and things for dogs as well like rocks, baths, and water bowls. They have a big screen out in the yard too so if you're into sports and would like to bring your dog somewhere to watch then this is a great option. Beware that you SHOULD NOT bring food into the yard, they don't explicitly say it but just know that is not a good idea. Overall, Mutts is an awesome place to bring a dog and just hang out and have them (or you) socialize. Consider stopping by with your dog when you have a chance!

I paid $40 a month and was happy with the environment. I must admit on a surface level, this is the best dog park in Austin. Amenities include a completely astroturfed playground, large flatscreen TVs, and fans for each of the guests. Caution, the glamour hides ugly business practices. Come to find out, the women employees get paid less than the male employees. The owner consistently disrespects his employees by yelling at them. I've seen employees cry because of the way he treats them. My experience: Many dog parents throw birthday celebrations for their pet. We're all responsible and we clean up after ourselves. They're peaceful celebrations. I had the decency to ask for permission to throw my dog a birthday party. They told me they were going to charge me a $500 fee even though I wasn't asking for anything beyond permission. I purchased gifts to give out for all attendees. my generosity was met with malice. Mid-celebration the owner texted me a long, unfriendly message telling me to FaceTime them. My membership was then suspended, but I guess they decided to revoke it without communication. They continued to charge me for the membership, even though I no longer had access. They chose to lose my business of over one year, which amounts to almost $500, over a dog's birthday party, generous of all guests. Choose wisely where you spend your dollars. A membership here supports unethical practices.

It kind of like when you are an aunt and you spoil your nieces and nephews for a day and then drop off at home. You can get a day pass as low as $12 or you can purchase other packages. This is the type of place you can catch up with a friend or family member in a relaxed, comfortable environment. The Yard Bar grounds are quite large, so plenty of room for your fur babies to roam around.

There are pavilions available and plenty of areas to sit down. The parking are was really good. There are several jungle gyms for the kiddos. There were several areas to play: sensory areas, sand box (large), agility, strength training for the littles, and a cute township area where kids can ride (provided mini bikes) bikes or scooters in the "city". I think that's a secret word here, there's a lot of pretending going on here! I highly recommend this park. It's important to know that animals are not allowed unless it's a service animal. There's a lot of kids running and yelling and playing and laughing. This is not the place for you if you're going to a park to read a book. Good playground equipment that includes a playscape for younger toddlers. No canopy though so scorching on a hot day. That being said, there are shady areas in the park (saw a few families having picnics). The adjacent creek is nice. There's a little trail alongside it. Turn left (from playground) and you can see the famous Round Rock (just under the bridge). Turn right and you pass a war memorial and soon make it to the spiral (a spiral walking ramp that apparently offers nice views of the creek). It was super hot so we skipped the spiral. The thing that bothered me about this park -- there are lots of blank rusted signs. Were they ever in use or were they never completed? I was just confused by their presence. On top of that, I would have liked to see some actual signs. There were a few by the entrance of the park noting the location of the Round Rock, spiral, etc. But if entering the trail from the playground, you don't see any of this info. There's no sign by the Round Rock about its history and no sign by the tree sculpture by the spiral (at least credit the artist). Large parking area.
