I love a good food truck and this one definitely has the potential to be great but they need to lighten up on the garlic and the salt. I understand It's very easy to be heavy on the salt with Japanese cuisine because many of the sauces are very salty but this was beyond just too much salt from a sauce. And the flavor of the food was lost because it was masked by heavy garlic. The GOOD: * The quality of meat was great, I ordered filet mignon and it was very tender, great in texture, cooked perfectly and was clearly a quality cut of meat. * Food truck was very clean and orderly and so convenient. *Food came out quickly and piping hot. The NOT so good: * Terrible first impression, the lady who was taking orders was so unfriendly and unhelpful and just didn't make a great first impression. * Pricing is not clear. They had two very small menu boards one of them did not have prices on it and the other one was partly filled out but very confusing and hard to understand. They would List a price and then everything was an additional price. I didn't make sense. (next to the bowl it said $10+, I ordered a fried rice bowl with filet mignon and it was $19. So basically if I didn't add the nine dollars for the fillet you're telling me of one bowl of rice would've been $10? They should price it including a meets and then if you want to upgrade they should list it that way. I thought it was slightly over priced (for what I ordered) considering there were only eight pieces of meat on my bones (yes I counted) they really need to be more clear with their pricing. * I do love a carb, the fried rice is always my favorite part at any kind of hibachi restaurant... So the fact that about 70% of my rice went in the trash definitely says something. The rice was undercooked it was not your typical fluffy Japanese sticky rice. It was like a cheap uncle bens and it had a slight crunch to it, not a crunch from being fried but a crunch from not being cooked thoroughly. * WAY TOO MUCH GARLIC (and I love garlic but this was over the top I might be a bit spoiled because we have two of the most amazing Japanese Teppan hibachi style restaurants within about 5 miles of where I live (in Orange County) so I did go with the three stars because I really feel like this place has some potential, but they need to make some changes.

Yum! Zero flavor and mega raw meat at its finest. Just a straight up no. For the price, taste, service and quality - it is fair to say that they are a huge let down. I'm trying my best to see what positive thing I can say... I guess that the food was hot when it was given? 80 bucks for 3 entrees with a side of fried rice. All flavorless, choice of meat (lobster and filet mignon) are not entirely cooked as requested, and service seemed like I was bothering them for ordering. Love supporting food trucks and small businesses. But for 80 bucks for 3 tiny and flavorless entrees, this is a straight up stealing from people.

Let's go in - First let's discuss the pricing. I've never paid $30 for a bowl of rice and noodles in my life before. My bowl was filled with what seemed to be endless rice, a splash of noodles and nothing else. I swore I asked for the New York (beef) and chicken. For this price I would have much rather went to the real Benihana's, at least that way I would have been at least satisfied. Secondly, the service was unsatisfactory! Nestled right in the corner of a large parking lot on busy PCH between a gas station, this place is definitely hard to miss. One would think the line for this truck would be stretched all the way to Mount Kilimanjaro. NOPE!!!!! And now I know why. The woman who took the order didn't even speak or understand English well. When I asked her for a menu she simply shook her head and smiled. I asked what kind of veggies does the combination plate come with and she shook her head and smiled. At this point, I should have known to take my business elsewhere but because I was immensely famished and was in need of sustenance, I had to give it a shot! Seriously, if you can't understand simple questions about the food and menu then please find someone who can. Lastly, I will say the food was freshly prepared. However, I can assure you that the only seasoning that was used on the entire bowl was salt. Okay I lied, they used a ton of salt and a splash of butter. I am not sure how this truck has 4.5 stars on Yelp but there was nothing about the food, service or pricing that warranted such a high rating. In the future I'll be more weary about trucks or any food establishments at that where there aren't any patrons in sight! Sorry Ben Y Ana, y'all are not it at All! Cool looking truck though (Kanye Shrug)! See only Pic below. Basura!

    My disappointing bowl
    Freddy F.

I ordered 2 bowls for my wife and I to take home. To my disappointment, our bowls barely had any meat. I could literally count the pieces of meat it came with. 10 tiny pieces. It was all rice. And the fact that I had to pay $40 dollars for this makes it very over priced. If anyone has recommendations to other spots, send it to me. I'm still hungry. Thank you. Anyway service was ok, the register guy showed me the total before I even finished ordering. His English wasn't that good so our conversation was just a lot of stare offs and figuring out what we're trying to say. Waited about 20 minutes for my order Although the taste was great, I would not come waste my hard earned money here again.

Delicious hibachi food, the perfect filet mignon Loved it! : ) friendly service and had to get one for my husband too

Filet mignon and fried rice! been wanting to try and did not disappoint!!!

Been wanting to try, but wasn't sure how a hibachi food truck would be, but was well worth it and will be back for sure. I tried the filet mignon and fried rice and it was delicious. I picked my meat temp. Had it with the ginger sauce that I love as well. Definitely recommend! And the guys working were very nice. And only waited 10 minutes! Great job

There was a seat at one their tables the whole time. Then their waitress wedge herself with her back toward me in between the tables and I had to stop eating. Very disruptive and rude. Taking a while for the six people to order so I nudged her and I asked her to move and she seemed upset that I did that but didn't say anything no apology so it was very uncomfortable and I was rushing through my food so I burnt my tongue on the hot soup again even though I knew it was hot because I just wanted to get out of there. And then when I was done, I had to wait a while for the check and then they couldn't process the Apple Pay at the table so then I had to go to the front and wait for somebody to attend to me there overall this experience was not fun and stressful and I had got there right when they opened. I sure wish I had selected a different seat!! I wouldn't get the Nabeyaki soup again. It was really big and had a lot of end pieces of tough napa cabbage. There were two pieced of shitake mushroom and the standard thin fish cake slice. There was and egg in the soup and a three small chicken pieces. On the side were three small pieces of green bean and two tempura shrimp.

The private booths alone made me feel like I was signing a secret business deal, except the only thing I was negotiating was how much more food I could fit into my stomach. Every dish came out looking like it had been through a glow‑up montage. So delicious! * Unagi -- Melted in my mouth like it had a personal vendetta against being solid. Sweet, buttery, and dangerously addictive. * Katsu -- Crispy enough to be heard across the booth. If this dish had a crunchy Japanese category, this would be the headliner. * Spicy tuna -- The perfect balance of heat and flavor. Not "call the fire department" spicy, but definitely "I see you trying to impress me" spicy. * Seared tuna, Elegant, silky, and so fresh it probably had plans later. * Uni pasta, Listen... this dish is a commitment. Creamy, ocean‑kissed, and luxurious. It's the kind of pasta that makes you sit back and reevaluate your life choices, in a good way. * Sake - WOW ...My delicious sake was smooth, floral, and paired with everything like it had studied my taste buds in advance. The staff here operate with polite ninja efficiency. They appear, refill, deliver, and disappear before you can even say "arigato." Not rushed, not pushy, just clean, respectful Japanese hospitality that makes you feel taken care of. "Always remember the energy you give....is the energy you get in return!" The private booths are the star of the show. Cozy, warm lighting, and enough privacy to talk chisme without worrying about the table next to you judging your life choices. It's intimate without being cramped, like a little wooden cocoon of comfort. Kagura is one of those Torrance gems that hits every category: authentic food, quiet comfort, top‑tier service, and dishes that make you want to come back before you've even left the parking lot, oh and let me remind you how small that parking lot is, be prepared. If you're into Japanese cuisine that feels both homey and elevated, this is your spot. Living life one bite at a time...go and enjoy yourself! Miguel C.
