    Onion rings

We felt like fried chicken so we decided to give this place a try. We ordered 4 fried pieces, 1 small potato wedges, 1 small onion rings, and 1 small gravy. We didn't have to wait for the order as we ordered online. Parking is available for free on the side street. The everything was fried to the point that "it ensures it is fried". - The fried batter is not that bread-y and not that salty. The chicken is moist-ish. The spice in the batter is good. - The potato wedges tasted like standard wedges. Fried well, the insides soft. - The onion rings are fried nicely while retaining the structure and taste from the onion - we actually really like them. - The gravy is missing the gravy taste. I think they dilute it too much or something. Everything is smaller in portion. Overall: it was ok experience. May or may not come back.

For our first meal of 2021, we chose Hi Five Chicken! We have ordered several times and it never disappoints. They have some killer lunch deals for $10. In our most recent order.. I got the 4-piece chicken meal, whereas fiancé chose the Smokehouse BBQ meal. Each of our meals came with a side (we both got the wedges) and a bottled 591ml pop. All that for $10 each? What a steal. What we also HAVE TO order each time are their chicken wings! A friend had recommended these to us awhile ago and we are addicted. So good!

We ordered mild flavored and I had asked at the cashier if we could have some mango flavored sauce to try (at other similar joints, there would be bottles of sauces to try), and was told it would be a $1.50 charge. I declined. So it was a nice surprise when the other staff brought a white (think it's garlic something) sauce and a hot sauce for the wings. Then she asked if we wanted water and got us some. The place was quite busy and it took some time for the food to be ready. Saw some customers grumbling about the long wait. Think it took about 15-20 mins for our food. There was lots of orders for delivery. The place was half packed with dine in customers. My friend had the quarter chicken with grilled vegetables and they were good. I had the chicken and rice bowl. I also added pineapple to it. I was expecting grilled pineapple rings but the pineapple was chopped up and mixed into the rice bowl so I could barely see it or taste it. Not recommended to add pineapple. But the chicken rice bowl was delicious! We had the wings to share and they were yummy too. This place also sells cheesecake slices from Cheesecake Factory. It is $10.45 after tax for a slice. I think that's pretty close to what it costs down in the US after currency conversion. So if you love the cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory, you don't have to cross the border. This place closes late, around midnight on weekend, so it's great for late night food. As I had not seen my friend in a while, we stayed for quite a while catching up and did not feel like we had to vacate the table immediately after finishing our food. I would come here again for the food and if I get hungry late at night. Side and street parking are available.

A couple other tables also arrived throughout the course of our meal, but it wasn't really busy. We sat at a table with short stools. It was a little uncomfortable for one of my friends since they're quite tall and their knees were positioned awkwardly. There are other tables with normal sized chairs at the table. We got a bunch of different items to try between the meats for grilling, some hot foods, skewers, and a couple plum beverages. This was the first time that I've been to a restaurant that uses wax paper on the grill. I'm guessing they do this to minimize the cleaning that needs to be done for the grill. I feel like I prefer grilling meats directly on the grill for the char, but this wasn't a dealbreaker for me. There is a limited self-serve sauce bar and they offered the typical sauces that you would expect. The vermicelli dish was probably our favourite, but the quality of the meats was good. This restaurant feels like a mix of Chinese and Korean foods since they offered kbbq but their skewers were seasoned with Chinese spices.

The meats were well marinated, tender and flavorful after you BBQ them on the grill in front of you. The lettuce and perilla leaves were fresh and crisp without any sight of browning or old leaves. I enjoyed the lamb skewers because it's not too overly seasoned like some places. The sauce bar had a good variety of sauces, freshly cut garlic and seaweed salad for snack. The fridge was stocked full of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. They were easy to locate and grab yourself if you need to. Last and not least, the service was outstanding. Very friendly staff and took the time to explain the menu and grill for us. They helped clean the grill twice and chatted us up before we left hoping we had a good meal.
