Preventative maintenance only goes so far. About a month ago Five Star came out to unclog the…read morecondensation line. After leaving all seemed to work well and we went on our way of replacing our floors that had been damaged due to the water leak from the clogged line. We thought we were golden until the next preventative maintenance was due in five more months...we were wrong! Apparently "Texas is hot" and clogs happen again, said Sylvia. When trying to discuss options with Sylvia, the owner, about the possibility of an insurance claim to assist in us having to replace our new floors again, she refused to even admit that perhaps the initial problem was not fully solved. That perhaps the buildup was only partially removed. And, when it got right down to it, she said the only way to prevent clogs is to have preventative maintenance every 6 months. (See timeline above). I pointed out that it was just a month ago that the line was unclogged and she repeated her stance much more slowly and clearly. I can see where me pointing out that by over annunciating didn't make the argument any more valid, might have upset her. That is about the time she said, "you are rude, and if you call me again, I will file a claim against you for harassment." and hung up. It is unfortunate that no compromise was even offered. I think perhaps offering to come out right away, unclog the line again, free of charge... that might have been nice. Needless to say I would not recommend this company, which is fine because they seem to have their hands full already. It turns out that they became Five Star Energy Specialists. I was hoping that I would get the same great service as I used to get and I am sure happy. Please do not do like me and forget to have your ac or heater serviced as preventive maintenance.

Alan and his team were very helpful in assessing the best solution for my home. I thought that…read moreinstalling a ductless split system would be optimal, due to my subpar duct and vent setup, but Colley Co was able to do enough duct and vent improvements/expansions, quickly and at reasonable cost, to "save" my nice upstairs ducted system. They also did a great job insulating my attic - passed Austin Energy inspection on the 1st try - and relocating my condensers from the side yard to the backyard. The new 3-ton Daikin recommended by Alan for our downstairs has worked great so far - much quieter and cooler than our old system. Alan is highly responsive, both by phone and email, which is not always common in this industry. He and his team address any concerns or criticisms immediately and thoroughly.

Both Alan and Ricky were both very helpful, informative and definitely had my best interests at heart. Alan did not try to sell me any additional products that I did not need. He suggested an additional return air vent to help my system's air flow. This solved the problem my house was having not cooling the downstairs effectively. And Alan solved this problem without trying to sell me a $3300 zone damper system. Another company tried to sell me on that zone damper system. They did not get my business. Alan and Ricky both had some great ideas on how to make my system run more efficiently. They suggested I seal up some gaps in my air vents and make sure that there are no gaps in my attic insulation. I always have lots of questions about this kind of stuff and they patiently and honestly answered every question I had. The actual installation went efficiently and without incident. I was only without air conditioning for about 3 hours. Ricky and a helper got the system in, explained a few things about how the new unit worked and got my new thermostat up and running. They got rid of the old ac, furnace and the old condenser. They did a wonderful job cleaning up after themselves. I did not have to pick up a single piece of trash or anything after they were all done. I think the hallway they were working in was actually cleaner after they had finished up. Give these guys a try. They are awesome. They are honest and will take care of you for a very reasonable amount of money. They will also take the time to explain what they are doing and why they are doing it. Thank you Alan and Ricky.

I live in a complex that regularly uses Fixed's services. My HOA asked if I would agree to have employees from Fixed come into my unit to investigate a leak in the unit 2 floors below. After making arrangements to be home for the appointment, they had to reschedule. I wasn't able to rearrange my schedule again and so made arrangements for a building staff member to let the employees in and stay with them throughout the visit. The staff member reported to me that they ran my washing machine and paused the cycle around a dozen times and concluded that the leak was not coming from my unit. My washing machine never worked again after that. My property manager contacted Fixed to ask them to come look at my machine. They refused. She asked them to reconsider and they sent an email saying they would send someone out, but that if they determined it wasn't their fault, I would have to pay for "it". I assumed they meant a new washer, not the visit itself. The email was full of typos and grammatical errors - not exactly clear communication. I assumed this was a courtesy visit since I let them into my unit as a courtesy and they are the preferred vendor for my complex. I had a GE technician come out who said there is no way to prove that Fixed didn't break my machine. A couple months later I got a bill for $85 from Fixed for their visit. This after spending nearly $1,000 between a new washing machine and the GE technician visit where it was confirmed it would be more expensive to repair than replace my washer. Not only am I and the building staff member fairly certain they broke my machine, now they are charging me. My property manager went back and asked them to drop the charge and they refused. Talk about salt in the wound.

I worked with John Cantu and he was great giving me many different options from several different manufactures. I had lots of questions from my research and he was always helpful and responded quickly. I never felt like I was being upsold and their price was actually cheapest I received. Other companies I got quotes from made me feel like I invited a used car salesman into my house. I got a completely new AC/Heater and air handler for a reasonable price. I didn't have to wait long for the installation and it was done in a single day. The plenum ducting above my air handler was much better than my previous installation, and they upgraded my gas line from a flex pipe to a hard pipe as required by current code. The wiring was also much tidier than before. I was going to pay cash for the system but with my credit score they were able to get me 0% down 0% financing over 1 year so I went with the financing. I had a good experience and recommend them.

However, the technician they send is usually woefully unprepared. 1. Lacking essential equipment. 2. Inoperable diagnostic equipment due to dead or missing batteries. 3. Disorganized and incomplete handoff from one technician to the next technician they send to work on your issue. 6. No followup. 7. No ownership or accountability. They will not own up to their mistakes. I had six years of lackluster service, many thousands of dollars wasted and I was an idiot not to fire them after the first couple of calls. To show up to an appointment is perhaps worth 1.5 or 2 stars, but my unneccesary expenses due to incompetence brings the rating down to 1 star.
