black milk tea with boba and matcha with cheese foam
    Amie S.

Stopped by Hey Tea while in the area and it was the best decision my friend and I made before hitting the subway. My milk tea with boba was just perfect. They automatically selected lower sugar for the drink (the perfect option) and a great flavor. The matcha was also lovely. Our drinks came out within 5-10 minutes and we were on our way. There isn't any sit down space, so you'll need to bring your drink to go!

IMO, worth the hype. I love coconut mango bloom. They always have deals so try it whenever there's a deal but beware of the wait whenever there are deals.

Rating: 3.8/5 [take out] HEYTEA was running a BOGO deal on their matcha coconut drinks, so we had to stop by on our way to lunch. They had three options: Matcha Boba Coconut, Coco-Foam Matcha Oat Latte, and Cloud Coconut Blue. Unfortunately, they were out of boba by the time we arrived, but we went ahead and ordered anyway. The shop itself is small and pretty busy, with some people waiting outside. Despite the crowd, the drinks came out pretty fast (less than 10 minutes). Matcha Boba Coconut ($7.99): Really good! The coconut milk jelly was sweet and tasty, and the drink itself was refreshing on a hot day. Would recommend. Coco-Foam Matcha Oat Latte ($7.99): A miss for me. It tasted watered down and wasn't sweet, so I was only able to drink half of it. To be fair, the ice and foam melted on our walk to Bryant Park which is probably why it was watered down.

Best boba ever. There is supposedly a hype about HeyTea in New York, and I can see why. Their boba's are spectacular! I've never finished a large thing of boba on my own so fast, or daydreamed about it back at home from visiting. HeyTea is a busy boba place. What I love about them is that their worker waits for you in front of the line to take your order (not behind the counter). It almost feels more personal, and they are super friendly about helping you make your choice. When I thought about switching my drink (because one original boba had like 800 calories!), the worker explained I can get it without sugar and it'll still taste good for fraction of the calories. Boy, was he right! My friend got their Jasmine tea, and that was probably the best drink there. And the good thing is that there is HeyTea back at home in OC! Thank you, HeyTea NY, I will be back next time!

I think the evolution of bubble tea is FASCINATING. I am in awe of this place and want to go back (please open one in Chicago!) This is not your powder-mix bubble tea spot (tbt to the early 2000s) or even kung fu tea (I mean, I used to call it Tapioca bubbles). I haven't craved milk tea in a long time because I'm only exposed to these types of places, but I'm so glad I tried Heytea! The whole operation is cool to watch - the cashier was so friendly and explained each drink to us - and the assembly of the teas were so efficient. We got the coconut mango boom and the matcha cloud coconut blue, and OMG IT WAS SO GOOD. There were pieces of mango and coconut respectively in our drinks - it was so refreshing to have on a hot NY day. Pro tips: -Even at 0% sweet, the matcha cloud coconut blue was sweet, so I'd recommend lowering the sugar content

The place in someways feels like a lab crossed with a coffee shop, plus I saw two employees wearing what looked like lab coats, so I get that vibe. Plus the vials of tea leafs and blends reminded me of pot shop in a way. I got crisp grape boom slushy, very fresh and not overly sweet, plus got love fresh crushed grapes at the bottom. Just a bit of advice don't do cash here, I paid with cash and man the guy behind the counter made a proformace of it.

3.5 / 5.0 - I tried HeyTea for the first time earlier this month and became so hooked I had to go again. This was my first time at this Broadway location, near the Times Sq - 42 St station and Bryant Park. There was no seating inside, with just a small standing area for order pick-up. You can order at the counter, on their kiosk or online. At this location, the staff was not very friendly and did not seem to be interested in taking orders. I was ordering on the kiosk so it was ok, but they didn't give the best impression. The drink itself was delicious--I ordered the Supreme Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea ($7.99+), with less ice and less sugar, which was still pretty sweet. Based on the service, this wouldn't the first location I'd choose for HeyTea, but if you're just picking up your order and don't care about the service, maybe it's ok.

This line is never as long as the one near Herald Square, thankfully! The drinks are just as good though. Coconut mango boom I would not recommend getting below 70% btw! It's good but not great like it usually would be. Blue matcha (or coconut) cloud was so good! The matcha cream was such an interesting take but it paired really well with the coconut milk.

Overall: A // 5 stars Updating this review for Times Square location to give a more accurate reflection. My comments about the Mango Grapefruit boom is still valid in that there's too much content in it such that it's not a good drink. However, literally any other drink on their menu is much better including these two new ones. (Obviously, the Mango Coconut Boom is still great.) (Crisp Grape Boom: A+) - Great drink adapted from their pop up menu that is unique and not offered by rival chains. Love the usage of grapes from the juice to the topping that makes this a very nice drink in a way that differs from the beloved Mango Coconut Boom. (Hot Jasmine Tea: B) - Sometimes you just want a hot tea and its great they offer this option quite cheaply. It does take much longer to make since drinks are made in batches, and the tea is put in their plastic cup, which is not ideal, but its better than not having it offered like some other shops. This place seems so modern with their automatic drink robot mixer and also the order numbers and expected wait time projected on a screen. Came here post dinner and was able to get our drink within 5 minutes of ordering it which was great! We ordered the Brown Sugar Boba Oat Milk and it was delicious! First of all, I was a bit thrown off by the fact that the drink didn't automatically come with oat milk as it was literally in the name. You had to pay $1 extra for oat milk instead of whole milk but the drink itself was great. I liked that it wasn't caffeinated and the oat milk flavor was very evident. Also, I think in the future warm milk "tea" is now my new favorite temperature because it made the boba very chewy and easily digestible. I also loved the finishing of the drink as there was almost this sweet cream flavor on top. Overall, fantastic place for milk tea in Midtown.

While strolling the streets of Manhattan, my gf and I were craving some nice milk tea and matcha, and what better place to get milk tea than HeyTea! They have two ordering options in store - you can either wait in line at the counter, or do what we did and utilize the kiosk. The ambiance was pretty traditional of a Taiwanese based milk tea parlor, and I will have to say they were pretty full of people - so if there's a line just know you'll have to wait for a bit. I love that there's a monitor to show you that your drinks are being made, helps with the customer journey :)

Love HEYTEA! The moment you step into any store you're met with a delicate and floral fresh scent (they should consider selling it as a room spray or candle), which instantly puts you at peace. Came with a friend on a rainy day and there wasn't too bad of a line- we got the grapefruit boom and triple supreme matcha latte, each our fav drinks. The matcha was soft and yet strong, with the perfect light creaminess and matcha jelly inside. Absolute heaven!

Came here during lunchtime and it wasn't too crowed though the staff was busy with preparing orders. The hot (more warmish than extra hot) was put in a plastic cup which is the same as the cold drink. Matcha is on point, didn't realize taste the jasmine. There is a easy way to rotate the sliding lid. I was welcomed as soon as I entered the door. While I was waiting for the kiosk, which was being used, I examined the menu. Decided on a hot matcha jasmine drink. As I only ordered 1 drink, I opted out of a paper bag. Afterwards, I waited for my number to be ready on the screen and waited for my drink. The hot (more warmish than extra hot) was put in a plastic cup which is the same as the cold drink. Matcha is on point, didn't realize taste the jasmine. There is a easy way to rotate the sliding lid though I always forget. Will be more adventurous next time with my order.

I've never been to a yogurt store that makes you pay a set price first before selecting toppings, which also means toppings are limited based on the yogurt size (something I only realized later after looking at a picture I took in the store). The employee who was supposed to help me immediately gave me attitude, as if I was supposed to already know all the "rules" of the store. I said nothing that would have warranted that reaction -- I simply went over to the display. At the register, I scanned my rewards app then couldn't find the card reader to pay. After about 20 seconds, I realized it was sitting on top of a case of water bottles (pictured). The topping limit signage was also placed off to the side of the register where customers wouldn't naturally see it -- it wasn't even on my side and was partially blocked. I only found this out when I went up to the counter after I got my yogurt. While choosing toppings, I asked how many I was allowed, and she responded, "How many toppings do you think you're supposed to choose?" with a noticeably rude tone. When I chose cookie dough as my fourth topping, she only gave me a few pieces, dropped another on the counter (pictured), and ignored it. The cookie dough topping was stale too. I also noticed she did not seem to treat other customers the same way. I eventually went back to the register - I asked her if the yogurt was actually strawberry matcha because it tasted like vanilla. I also asked about her rudeness because I genuinely didn't understand why I was being treated that way for asking simple questions. She said the information was "on the wall," even though it was difficult to see. I actually ended up apologizing earlier because she made me feel like I was burdening her. The only personable thing she said the entire interaction was that I didn't need to apologize, but the tone still felt unfriendly. Two customers sitting nearby ended up leaving without ordering. I understand it was Super Bowl Sunday and she appeared to be working alone, which may have contributed to stress. Still, I left feeling extremely shaken and even spilled yogurt on my jacket afterward. I would not return to this location. I used to come to this location sometimes, but after this experience -- and a previous visit where I ordered a tea and received very little -- I would not return.

The sound speakers is boisterously loud blasting music directly at my face by the ordering counter. The cashier associate was 90% inaudible of her customer service questions due to the boisterously loud blasting music as I had to fight loud vs. loud by blurting loudly several times: "WHAT?" Why would a business intentionally place sound speakers in front of a ordering counter station where customers must communicate their food/drink orders? How can customers place their drinks orders with clear specific description/instructions only for the cashier associate to inadvertently obfuscate by misinformation because the message conveyed was utterly misinterpreted? Communication is vital for ordering and order fulfillment accuracy in the food service industry! The cardboard paper straws available are environmentally sustainable friendly for biodegradable and compostable. However, these cardboard straws taste AWFULl!! The drink selection is very limited menu compared with other bubble tea competitors. Disappointedly there is no Jasmine green tea on the menu. There are some food items.
