Service was prompt and very friendly. The fresh OJ was good but not great. My wife got an apetizer with what they called "croquets" but swas really bitterballe, and we are not fans of fried pudding, but the flavor was ok just not our thing. We got the traditional swiss cheese fondue (without alchohol) and it was amazing. The flavor and texture was next level, just the right amount of sharpness and a truly savory creaminess. We also got all the extra dippers, fresh veggies as well as stramed ones, a huge selection that paired perfectly. The fresh bread as a dipping base was great on its own and absolutely delicios with the cheese, I scraped the pot and was completely full and satisfied. My visiting friends rave about the place and took me here. They ate here twice while they were in town for dinner I think it's good if you're not sure where to go and you want something safe and easy, but it's quite mediocre and salty. Also a strange smell when you walk in from the burners they use for the fondue. I would have felt better about the visit if they greeted us less pretentiously when walking in. We had reservations and my friends event called to tell them we are 10 minutes behind, but when we arrived to a mostly empty restaurant, they didn't have the reservation and acted like we were at the Beverly Hills Hotel. They eventually seated us upstairs. After waiting about 10 minutes for a waiter they finally arrived to take the order. It's one of those vibes when you know that you should order the drinks and main meal all at once. My chicken sate was okay. The cheese fondue was nothing to be excited about. The wine was okay. I was craving fondue while in the land of cheese. My friend was going to join me, but once she saw that it was an additional. 5.50 euro, she backed out and got a pancake instead. The entire experience far exceeded our expectations from every aspect, food, service, and atmosphere! Noted for its selection of fondue we opted for the Swiss and bread as a simple appetizer and split it between us. It was the perfect way to do it. For our entree's I ordered the skewers of chicken in peanut sauce and Ron ordered the chicken in mushroom sauce. Both were delicious and well presented with a side of fries. Service was excellent, attentive in every aspect and the entire staff we encountered were so delightful! When you are in Amsterdam I strongly recommend this restaurant. Frantically looking for a place to eat dinner with my family, I was sold as soon as I found out this place had fondue. The interior is absolutely lovely. The service was decent however I was not asked about ordering another drink when my glass was empty and I had slowly inched it closer and closer to the edge of the table to hopefully get their attention. They have so many fondues it's impossible to make a selection but, being whores for mustard, GF made the suggestion of ordering the mustard/cheese one which I wholeheartedly supported. I am not at all exaggerating when I say it was better than sex. The cheese is bubbly heaven. They served it with only bread which, trust me when I say is adequate, but it probably would have been nice to have a little more variety like veggies or something. It was so good, I literally scraped every last bit from the pot. Every single last scrap. We were mad at ourselves for not ordering two. We really should have gone back the following day. One of my dining partners ordered the broccoli soup which he remarked was very good. For our mains, two of my dining partners ordered salmon fillet which they seemed to enjoy. One of my dining partners ordered a side of veggies which she adored. I tried a broccoli sprig or two and the sauce was quite good. GF and I ordered the pasta vegetariana with "pesto, vegetables, and tomato sauce". I did not detect any pesto in there but the veggies were plentiful. The pasta itself could have been more al dente. I ate the whole thing but I wouldn't confuse this with pasta one would order in an Italian restaurant. If you like fondue, get yourself here immediately. Walk up to the restaurant as a normal polite customer would... the employee stands in front of the door with a "why are you even here" attitude. We ask for a table and then ask for iced coffee. He responds with a simple angry "no." And we were like... um ok, any other options? And then he was like... "you want food." Just no energy, no kindness. Completely off putting and not inviting. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're looking for a friendly experience. This place needs customer service training. The coffee was bitter, btw. Oh. My. Goodness. This meal was absolutely decadent and delicious!!! We got three different fondues to split between four of us. The Karbeel (blend of three cheeses with a tapenade on top), one with parmesan and sun-dried tomatoes, and one with gruyere and mustard. All were served over heating elements. The karbeel was definitely the favorite, followed by the parmesan one. The mustard one was too overpowering but still yummy. They're served with unlimited baskets of bread cubes. We paid extra for some veggies. The menu said roasted veggies but they were raw, and there was also fruit? Misleading, but I actually enjoyed dipping apples in the cheese. I wish there were more options like meat or other veggies for dipping. We had delicious house Chardonnay and were stuffed to the brim. Would love to come back and try the French onion soup. It was a long wait in the fast cooling Fall evening on our visit last night to Amsterdam. Stopped here after a canal ride, and both are must-do's! The long wait on Friday night only confirmed that it was the place to be and eat. We had the Suisse and Karbeel fondue, and with the bread and fruit/vege dippers, it brought back a long lost traditional art (I think anyway!). On our recent visit to Amsterdam we ate at this restaurant. Food was good so we decided to return for a second time. Upon arrival the waiter remembered us from a day prior and asked us if we wanted to seat in same table and we said yes. We were two couples and 2 toddlers. After a little while we noticed and older couple yelling something but we didn't pay attention. They were complaining about our kids. To our surprise the waiter was fueling their discontent by telling us across the room that we should take out kids outside. After this incident we immediately ask for the check and we left. We did not get the name of the waiter but he was a tall white gentleman. Maybe Amsterdam is not kids friendly city but we certainly did not expect this treatment from this restaurant. I recommend this restaurant to put a sign saying kids are not welcome. read more

The inside is cosy and warm on a cold spring day and the waiter was efficient and attentive without being friendly. The food was average at best - we had the onion soup and the club sandwich - but it was good enough for a quick bite while exploring everything Amsterdam has to offer. My friend and I decided to take our family for breakfast there yesterday and the waiter noticed we had two kids under 3 years and was very nice. We had a great breakfast so we decided to return. We return today started to have breakfast and one of the kids. Started to cry, so a local over 60 years started to complaint and a different waiter asked us to leave. Other people could not believe what was happening, this experience was by far the worst. At some point they were all kids or have kids and have gone through a crying baby, but this establishment obviously did not care and asked us to leave.
