My husband and I hit Piqniq upon arrival to Amsterdam. Our Airbnb wasn't quite ready, so we took our weary selves to the first place we could find that was open for breakfast. I opted for an omelet and ginger tea, while my husband had his first of many waffles on the trip. My omelet was okay; pretty overcooked and missing some of the ingredients I requested. The bread that it was served with was very good, however. The ginger tea was nice but very basic; just some ginger, a cinnamon stick and slice of orange with hot water. My husband enjoyed his waffle. Service was pleasant and the restaurant was cute and cheery; a nice option for a quick bite or place to catch up with a friend, but maybe not a dining destination.

Breakfast here is delicious. The eggs are fresh, the brown baguette is seedy and crunchy. The best doughnut ever, and it's warm! The mixed vegetable juice is freshly made and has a hint of pulp! Yum.

We came on a weekday for lunch. It wasn't super busy and we were able to get a table pretty quickly. I think the concept of the restaurant is pretty unique--small bites like you're on a picnic. This also makes the meal not too expensive with each item being 3.50. We got 5 items: tomato soup, pulled chicken, broccoli quiche, brie, and tuna. The pulled chicken was definitely the best sandwich. It was very flavorful and the bread really complimented the taste. The broccoli quiche was part of the monthly specials. This was also really yummy. The crust was nice and flaky and the filling was delicious. The tomato soup was also really good. It's just a slightly too salty for my liking. Wish it was a bit more watered down. The tuna and brie sandwiches were okay. Just what you'd expect from a standard sandwich. On another note, our waitress was really nice and the place just overall has great vibes.

Great little lunch, consisting of smaller portions that you choose. The bounteous bites and teasing tastes make this a fun place. We were lucky to get a table outside where we sat in the shade (which I love!). They have a 2, 3 and 4 choice menu, along with a daily changing special soup, salad and sandwich choices. Prices are quite reasonable, from 7, 8.50 to 10 euros for each set of choices. Coffee was from a Nespresso machine so I had the fresh squeezed orange juice, which I recommend in any Dutch restaurant. It is really freshly squeezed from real oranges and not the pasteurized stuff. Then I had the spring onion soup and red beet couscous salad. Both were nice, though I preferred the couscous. Besides the usual roasted sunflower seeds, they had added a small amount of rucola and hazelnuts, which upped the wow factor and crunch level. Job well done! For water they had the Earth brand, which I think is lovely, because with each purchase you are also helping someone else drink water. I like the idea of sharing what we have so much of here.

Staying approximately 5 minutes from here and searched for lunch places. I saw this both on Yelp and TripAdvisor as highly rated and nothing but great things to say about breakfast and lunch. Wanted to try lunch and am so glad we did. Popped in shortly after 11:30 (when lunch starts) and managed to get a table. The place filled quickly and by 12 there were no free tables (the inside seats about 20 and there are some outside tables as well). You are able to choose between 1 item or a collection of 4 items ranging from sandwich to salad and soup. I opted for the seasonal couscous salad, mushroom soup and chicken avocado sandwich. All were so delicious and offered and abundance of flavour. So very happy to have found this place during my stay - I encourage you to try as well!

Delicious breakfast! After walking by yesterday and seeing the menu, we went for breakfast today. For drinks we had the orange, cinnamon, ginger tea (love that there are made with fresh ingredients) and a latte macchiato. Both came with a tasty little biscuit. For entrees we had the waffle with cinnamon apples, raisins, crispy almonds and mascarpone cream. So delicious. There may have been some syrup on the waffle too. The waffle and almonds were crunch, apples were soft and cinnamony. And the cream made it decadent. I wish the apples were warm or hot, but still so good! The two eggs with cheese, tomato, and baguette were tasty as well. We added bacon which was perfectly crispy. The eggs omelette style were great. Quite a tasty breakfast and good service. I definitely want to go back to try some lunch.

Delicious gluten free sandwiches with a range of options. A GF sign placed on the table ensures my food is delivered to my table without mishap. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed this restaurant!! They had a great lunch menu where you can choose 2, 3, or 4 choices from the menu. We chose two options for $6.90! A small Waldorf Salad & the BEST tomato soup (with zucchini & basil). Highly recommend this restaurant for lunch in Jordaan!! ALSO...we didn't do this, but they have a menu option where you can order a picnic basket the day before and they pack it with soup, salad, sandwiches, quiche, & dessert. What a great idea!!

Found Piqniq from a hearty recommendation from our AirBnB host who insisted we would find no better breakfast in the Jordaan. We beg to differ. We suspect we would find no better breakfast in Amsterdam......really. We arrived two minutes before opening and were 8th in line. Lucky we were since there are only 10 tables and by the time we were seated the place was full. Between us we pretty much sampled the menu and could find nothing lacking in presentation or quality. For the quality of food we found the prices to be reasonable and all agreed that if the opportunity arises....we will be back.

We were exploring the neighborhood and found this quaint little restaurant in Jordaan. Although there were a couple people waiting before us and the tables were full, we decided to wait and so glad we did. Liked their concept of smaller dishes where you could pick two, three or four options. I ordered two of their specials, the quiche with bacon and the Brie sandwich. Both were so tasty and just the right amount of food for me. Waitress was very friendly and food came out pretty quickly.

Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Everything I had was amazing and the staff were very nice. You can choose several different dishes because they are smaller size which is excellent for trying new things. I highly recommend the carrot and coconut soup as well as the tuna sandwich!

Cute little restaurant. Yummy sandwiches and tomato soup! We ordered the smoothies too, but it wasn't out of this world.

Cinnamon/lemon with hot water, tuna sandwich and a salad that was ALL delicious!

So good I stopped by twice on a 3 day trip to the city…read more I stopped by on my first visit craving a big, hearty sandwich for a late lunch and thought this might be a good find. Happy to report I was very right. I grabbed one of the many outside seats, took a look at the menu that was entirely in Dutch and waited for the wonderful waitress to quickly translate nearly every item for me. I landed on the chicken club and it hit the spot. I arrived hungry but could still only manage to finish half. Chicken was grilled perfectly into thin slices, soft boiled egg was a new touch that I loved, avocado, lettuce and probably a few other things I am forgetting. Oh, and a handful of crisps on the side. On my next visit, it was my last night in Amsterdam and I still haven't tried the infamous fries. I stopped in around 9:30 for a late night snack and a hot ginger tea. The fries were the perfect fries! Thin, crispy, salty. I loved. I also can get behind the mayo thing they do here, even though I really am a ketchup loyalist. Anyway, lunch or dinner or late night snack, this is a good spot. You'll like the foot and you'll love sitting outside people watching, reading your book, whatever.
