Brunch is done right here. I learned to love Dutch pancakes, and this one does them about as right as rain. They taste great, and you get a lot of filling inside. I did not want the plate to end because it all tasted so lovely. The spot is right by the water and near the train station which makes it convenient for anybody looking for a quick bite to eat. Despite being in one of the busier/more touristy parts of Amsterdam, Prins Heerlijk delivers on fresh and tasty food when you need a quick bite. Counter service is friendly and my favorite moment was when the whole kitchen seemed to be singing along to Miley Cyrus's "Flowers" when it came on the radio. The space is small so unless it's a nice day outside you're stuck squeezing into a booth in a tiny restaurant. Easy for it to get a bit too loud. My partner and I had very straightforward breakfasts--the full English breakfast and the Dutch pancakes. My partner's English was missing a few key elements, but it was perfectly tasty and did the job. The pancakes were topped with fruit and tasty but a bit soggy. Coffee was okay and the fresh squeezed juice was good. Nothing really making this a must-stop for visiting the city, but if the line is short and you're hungry, you certainly can do worse! Two friends and I came here during the day for some lunch once we arrived in Amsterdam. It was busy, so we had to wait a little bit. Everyone inside was very kind and remembered that we were waiting despite there being so many people trying to eat. We sat in a cute booth in the corner against the window under a neon "Feed me" sign. The seating and the decor gave off a cute cafe aesthetic and the nice staff topped it all off! We got our food pretty quickly as well, which tasted delicious and was cheap! My friend got the apple and bacon Dutch pancake while my other friend got the veggie burger. I got the Prins burger and we all shared sweet potato fries. Everything was yummy and fresh! The pancake was sweet and soft which contrasted nicely with the salty crunch of the bacon. The Prins burger was a typical juicy burger and the sweet potato fries were piping hot and crispy. I didn't try the veggie burger, but my friend said it was the best veggie burger he's ever had, including the rest of the duration of our trip in Europe. Prins Heerlijk is an absolute gem! I stopped here with my husband after we saw the line at another spot we were eyeing for breakfast. We were able to squeeze into a tiny one/two person booth at Prins Heerlijk and ordered a cafe latte, ham and cheese omelette, and a Dutch apple pancake. We were next to the open kitchen/register/prep space and got to watch everything as we sat and chatted. The cafe may be small, but they were turning out delicious food and drinks to people that were both coming and going. The waitstaff were friendly, attentive, and seemed to be in genuinely happy moods. Our food and drinks came out in appropriate amounts of time and were amazing! Yet another large, beautifully cooked pancake in Amsterdam and jam-packed omelette for the two of us. I particularly liked their pancake because it was crispy only at the very edge of edges and soft and moist (like a sponge almost) the rest of the way through. I honestly don't know how they're traditionally supposed to be, but I liked it the way Prins Herlijk made it. Their sandwich menu looked very good, and I bet is worth the try! read more

Given its central location, I'd thought it's mostly a tourist trap. However, the food is delicious, and service is efficient. What a pleasant surprise. The menu is simple and straightforward. We came here on a weeknight at 22:00 and to our surprise, the place was still bumpin' with patrons enjoying some of the best food we've had all week in Amsterdam. Prins Heerlijk is really close to Central Station and is an easy walk. They're right next to another restaurant that has a gaudy Statue of Liberty on its rooftop - vive le France! We were seated right at the front which was great for people watching. My friend and I each ordered an entree and split their humongous chocolate banana pancake which we could not wait until dessert time to try. I opted for the beef tartar sandwich (€7) which was an absolute steal! The tartar was spread across and sprinkled with onions and boiled eggs over a fine toasted sub. Fries were included which makes it even better. The food here was absolutely amazing and the service was definitely up there. They were friendly and spoke with us about their experiences going abroad too. I'm sure they get a lot of tourists so it's nice to see some genuinely awesome people working in such a hub. My family and I stayed in the NH Collection hotel right across from this place, and wandered over one day for breakfast. Let's just say... over the course of 6 days, we ate there 4 times. Don't mind the small cozy setting, because service is fast and the wait is never long. I've never had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a table for 3. I was always greeted with amazing service (they all spoke fluent English for all the nervous tourists out there!!). Although seating is definitely on the cramped side, the food and service makes up for it. Through my many visits, I've had the Dutch Pancakes with chocolate and banana, the prince burger, and the Salmon Eggs; all 3 of which I STRONGLY recommend. Everything is reasonably priced. But if I had to recommend one thing it would be the Prince Burger. THAT SAUCE IS PHENOMENAL; at first glance, I was kind of worried about the bun, but NO. Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had; it's simple, tasty, and 8 euros!!! I could not recommend this enough. Coffee is good but not exceptional, I've had the flat white the cappuccino. Overall, this is the most positive restaurant experience I've had in Amsterdam. 100/10 RECOMMEND!! read more

Cute, tasty place for breakfast/brunch conveniently located close to Amsterdam Centraal station. We were looking for a quick bite before catching our train and made the short walk to Prins Heerlijk. There are a few tables outside, but the inside is very cozy and close sitting quarters. We ordered the English breakfast, Dutch style eggs, salmon eggs, and mini Dutch pancakes. Everything was cooked to order right in front of you, and despite it being quite busy, we didn't wait too long. Coffee was great as well. Service was friendly and everyone spoke English. Was craving a coffee and stumbled upon this cute little "breakfast all day" restaurant. There was a nice outdoor seating area that really drew our attention so my friends and I checked it out. We only ordered coffees and that's enough to know how awesome this place is. The ladies working were incredibly sweet! They made our orders with love and all of us agreed we wished we ordered two of everything! My iced coffee wasn't a cold brew, but it also didn't taste watered down yet still very cold. They added in some caramel flavoring with the soy milk and ohhhhhh yes, super tasty. If I'm ever around the area again and hungry, I'd definitely check out their food. This was my last day here and I was looking for another great pancake like the one I had in the little Dutch town. Unfortunately these were cold and pre made ones or so it seemed. This place is fast and nearby Amsterdam Centraal station so it's convenient in many ways but if your looking for authentic and traditional I'd try somewhere else. Tiny space, no bathrooms and they also do not serve tap water which is against Dutch laws. Service was nice which is why I gave it 3/5 stars. A good breakfast cafe a stone throw's away from central station. This small cafe seems to be very popular as it serves all kind of food. You can get omelette, dutch pancake or sandwiches or just humble croissant. The place is small so it can get very crowded during weekend mornings but the turnover is very fast, so if you found yourself looking for a table, don't fret and wait up because someone's bound to leave very soon. Unfortunately for them, we hit omelegg first on our first breakfast on the city, so it's hard to measure up to that, but otherwise this is a an OK breakfast place. Service is friendly and efficient and I have nothing to complain but only one - the apple cranberry juice is from the bottle, only the orange one is freshly pressed. Oh well. We stopped by here for brunch, and I honestly wasn't very impressed. We ordered an English Breakfast to split, and also a special Prins pancake. The pancake said that it was covered in chocolate and local fruits, which is a bit of an overstatement- the fruits were paper-thin slices of fruit which were completely covered by the chocolate. You couldn't really tell what you were eating, and the taste of the chocolate completely overpowered everything else. The English breakfast was just sad. The bacon was saltier than hell, the beans were watery, and the 'sausage' was really just an Oscar-Meyer hotdog. It really just seemed like they said "Well, I'd imagine that this is what English people eat for breakfast, so let's just throw all this together and see how it goes". During our trip we had 'English Breakfast' at other places, and it was MUCH better elsewhere. With real actual sausages, good strips of bacon, and tasty beans. The Wifi was also really annoying. It was free, which is nice, but it was free pretty much everywhere in Amsterdam so that's hardly a big deal. The problem is, you had to provide your email address or 'Like' them on Facebook to access it, and every few minutes your sessions would end and you'd have to re-do the whole process. All in all, this place just didn't impress me. It screamed 'Tourist Trap', but maybe that impression just came from it's proximity to Centraal Station. read more

You just can't go wrong with anything you order. The coffee is delicious, the fresh orange juice is spot on. For breakfast we had the Dutch pancakes with bacon and cheese, the poffertjes, grilled croissant with ham & cheese, and eggs with bacon and toast. Every single one of them were fantastic.
