I love eggs, and I don't trust people that don't like eggs. I'm not always the fan of omelettes, but when in Ams, I feel like you must do as the the Dutch do. I had to sleep in for my first day in the city, thus arriving a little later than I thought I would. There will be a queue outside on the opposite side of the (extremely narrow with frequent delivery truck traffic) street, which moves rather quickly despite their cramped space. Food comes out quickly. Service is very nice, split amongst maybe three people on the floor. The Viking Fisherman was just okay. The texture was slightly off for my taste, slimy because of the melted crème fraîche. Eggs are done way under what those in the US are used to. Though I did not taste it, based on my glances at other tables, the croissant dishes seem the way to go. Maybe I just made the wrong choice for today. Would try again if I had enough time. read more

I got off the train and had time to kill so I came by for a breakfast. I had a cappuccino along with the Big Ben, which included toast, bacon, sausage, onions, tomatoes, and beans. It was absolutely delicious and very filling. The servers were very friendly. They greeted me the minute I walked in, and it took less than five minutes to receive my order. It's a nice spot inside with lots of seating. Once I finished with my meal, I went to the checkout desk to pay. My meal with the cappuccino was €20. This restaurant is one of my favorite breakfast spots when visiting Amsterdam. They are about a 5/10 minute walk from Central station depending on your pace. The restaurant is small and cozy, which is very common in the neatherlands. We waited for about 10 minutes before being seated. Once inside, service is usually pretty fast. I ordered the Pastrami Avocado Omelegg, which was beef pastrami, avocado, tomato (I opted for none), mustard, and farmer cheese. The Omelegg was served with a side salad and a piece of whole grain bread. This was honestly one of the best omelets I have had it was cooked to perfection. You can tell that they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. My favorite part was the farmers' cheese. The cheese you eat in the neatherland does not compare to the cheese here in the USA. When ordering, they will allow you to remove or add an ingredient, but they do not allow subsituting. Service is always great and the staff is very friendly. They also do not split checks or accept split payments, so keep that in mind if dining with a large group. When I go back to Amsterdam, I will defiently be dining here again and again. read more

We ate here twice during our visit to Amsterdam. The location was very convenient from the train station. The restaurant isn't large, but they move people in and out quickly and service is friendly and efficient. The food was good! I liked the omelet with the smoked salmon. I don't know how to convey to you how delicious a simple egg on toast can be but somehow this was one of our very favorite meals of our whole trip. We had arrived early for a tour that met across the street, so we popped in for a quick breakfast. Everything, from the coffees to the fresh squeezed juice to the eggs were just amazing. The place is small, so it can get loud, but it's worth it for the food. My partner got a ham and cheese omelet and I got the croissant with cheesy eggs. I don't know what cheese they used but it was utterly magical. Perfectly cooked eggs. I don't even normally enjoy scrambled eggs but I was practically licking my plate clean. Be prepared to get a bit cozy, so make sure you use a little extra mouthwash, this restaurant is turning room only, and that is really for the staff, you better park it once inside and be ready to order. Please try not to ask for substitutions, and the juice is fresh, yes fresh squeezed on site so it will look a bit different and have some pulp, the apple juice will be a murky brown, because it's real, don't send it back, it's not a damm thing wrong with it! If ordering cinnamon tea, expect cinnamon sticks in hot water, and they were divine! Not feeling for eggs, I indulged on the croissants with jam and oh what a treat! If this place existed in NYC, I would go every week! The wait was no longer than 10 minutes outside, and the waiters were all very nice and accommodating. You can see the kitchen staff plating and cooking right in front of you if you sit in the back. We got the cheesy scrambled eggs with lox on a croissant, avocado, and a side of bacon/sausage.
