Back to Black was a short walk, basically across the street, from the Rijksmuseum. One of the best cappuccinos I've had in Amsterdam was at Back to Black! The cake was excellent as well. Homey atmosphere with a good amount of shared seating. Service was friendly and efficient.

This is such a quaint little coffee shop! Needing a boost of caffeine, we stopped in for some drinks to start our day. It's very pet friendly and we saw a couple of cute little dogs enter with their owners and it certainly brightened the mood. The seating here was also perfect near open windows where we could people watch and get some fresh air. I could've easily stayed here for hours relaxing and enjoying their delicious coffee but we had sights to see.

While the coffee here was solid, the apple pie was phenomenal. Highly recommend getting it. It is very well made and flavorful. One of the best apple pies I've had. The coffee goes well with it but there's better coffee around as well.

Cutest corner café that was perfect for a rainy day. Since it was raining we decided to hang out here for a while. I read a book while sipping on my latte and a cat dozed next to me. What more can you ask for?

This is the spot to grab coffee in Amsterdam! We came by right when they opened one morning, and had amazing service. Everyone was very kind and helpful, and our drinks were fabulous! They have a shop kitty who is too cute. Definitely budget some time so you can sit and chill while enjoying your order!

I stopped here for tea/coffee with a friend and had such a good time. I got Chai Latte which I absolutely loved and she enjoyed her coffee too. It felt like we were surrounded by friends. Staff were friendly, service was fast and everyone in general seemed to be having a good time chatting and enjoying snacks. I recommend going there and will certainly return myself.

Flavorful dirty chai and the mushroom pastry was surprisingly delicious too. The staff is friendly. The cafe is a nice quaint spot that seemingly fills up fairly quickly. There's a section for laptop use.

There are some very kind folks running this place and they make a beautiful hand crafted beverage. Also serves delicious pastries. I regret not buying a bag of their whole bean coffee to bring back to the states. Well curated space with lots of seating: kitten on the sofa is the ultima pièce de résistance.

Probably the best coffee we had in Amsterdam. Cortado presentation was on point and the Honey Bush Lavender Iced Tea hit the spot on a warm day. There was also a kitty sleeping in the shop! Only complaint was that the seating is a bit cramped, especially on a busy day.

Oat milk latte (Oatly). Perfectly prepared! Not bitter, just right. Ordered extra hot and it was great!

You had me at Oat Milk....then I find out it's not just any Oat Milk, it's Oatly brand Oat Milk!!! Be still my little heart! Now, mind you I was praying (yeah, praying as I LOVE espresso) that they don't burn their java like so many other places do when making my tiny cup of heaven! B2B is serving up one fine cup of perfectly prepared coffee! The hubs and I walked in the pouring rain to find this quaint little joint. I have to say, the ambiance outside and inside are in one word, amazing! It sits one block off the major drag, on a freakin canal! It's simply breath taking. Perfectly Amsterdammy (I know that's not a word but you know what I mean)!!! :-D The staff was genuinely friendly. I asked for my latte to be prepared extra hot and it was just right. To add to my delight, they had "apple cake" or "apple pie". Call it whatever you want, it was divine! The slice served was gigantic and I thought there was no way I could eat it all in one sitting. Ha! Was I kidding myself?! I scarfed that cake down with the quickness! It was served with some pretty tasty, not overly sweet fresh whipped cream. I highly recommend this spot if you want to have a great coffee drink, a bite to eat and a peaceful/serene moment. B2B is super close to the museums, so take a break and wander on over!

Smooth espresso, tasty rich oat milk, views of the canal, free WiFi and ample seating. Doesn't get better!!! I must say I was unimpressed with other espressos around but very much loved back to Black!! Worth the mile trek! (Oat and soy available for +€0,20; credit card fee €€0,20)

Oat latte, croissant and cardamom bun were excellent! Sadly, the shop cat passed away a few weeks ago .

Which makes me wonder... do faeries claim nationalities? I hope not. There's a minuscule indoor seating area, but come spring and summer - as long as it's not raining - you'll want to move on back to the very leafy and verdant outdoor terrace. If you're lucky, the one table that gives you rain protection but is still technically outdoors will be available. I was lucky. And it did sprinkle while I was there. I can't speak to the food. I only had fresh mint tea, served with honey and a teensy cookie. Let me tell ya... it was the day after Amsterdam's hottest day in recorded history and the entire city was just tuckered out. Feeble even. That's why I asked for ice and made my hot tea into an iced mint tea. Re-freshing! The menu offerings are limited but apparently satisfying judging from my dining companions' happy faces. The two women caring for us were terrific about setting the friendly tone. Recommend exploring around this charming spot on Utrechtsestraat for clothing and specialty shops and other highly rated eateries, including some Michelin-rated.

Not sure what else is on the menu as we just ordered apple pie with whipped cream. A single slice is plenty for two people. I'd say about 95% of the people were ordering the apple pie, so of course we had to get one to see what the hype was about. The apple pie is pretty unique, it's basically a big chunk of cooked apple topped with a sweet, crumbly cookie like crust. The flavor reminded me of those little brown biscuits you get as airplane snacks... basically Biscoff cookies. lol!!! Overall, you really taste the natural apple flavor along with that Biscoff like cookie flavor. The pie itself isn't very sweet, which I actually liked, but adding some whipped cream definitely brings up the sweetness and makes it even better. The setup is pretty straightforward: get in line, order and pay, pick up your food, then find your own seat. It's definitely a popular spot, so be prepared for the crowd and a bit of a wait.
