Charming French cafe owned and operated by the one and only Lorraine! We came here for breakfast, as it was super close to our apartment and couldn't resist how adorable it is. Chez Lorraine is very small and quaint. There were only two larger tables and the other tables were meant for two people. We were lucky to arrive at the right time, to snag a bigger table for the three of us; but I did see that Lorraine had to turn down people because of how packed the place was. It's a popular spot in the Jordaan neighborhood. I ordered the crepe with ham, cheese and an egg and a matcha latte. For later I purchased one of the bottled smoothies that you can get to-go. Food took a bit to get because Lorraine is literally a one-woman show. She takes the orders and you can see her in the kitchen making everything fresh. The crepe with ham, cheese and egg was very light yet fresh and tasty. The cheese was the best part of the crepe, as it was thick and held everything together. Crepe was the perfect texture. Nothing was overly flavorful, so I really tasted each and every ingredient. The matcha latte was also nice, with a distinct matcha flavor that you hope for whenever you get a matcha drink. Chez Lorraine is a wonderful neighborhood cafe with a simple French menu for breakfast and lunch. Despite how small the space is, it is very inviting. I loved how Lorraine knew many of the locals dining in. Every neighborhood needs this kind of place. read more

Went here with a friend after seeing some great things written about the place. It is literally a one woman show as their is one woman cooking, ringing people up, and serving the food. She was super friendly and made for a great dining experience. For my breakfast I decided to get the crepe with red jam along with a quiche lorraine. The crepe was red jam was good--not too sweet, but enough to give it some good flavor. The quiche lorraine was even better as the crust was super buttery and provided a nice bite with the rest of the dish. This adorable little place was like having breakfast in Paris! The space is very tiny and there are few places to sit so I can imagine that they probably often have a wait as the food is so good and the space so quaint. I will say that there was only one person doing everything including cooking, serving and accepting payment, but despite that we still got our food in a timely manner. We did have some excitement while we were there as a customer knocked into the table with the glass water cooler and it fell and smashed to pieces. There was water and glass everywhere. The girl working there handled it so calmly and everyone in the restaurant was so helpful in cleaning it up. I had a crepe like dish with cheese, egg and ham and my husband got an omelette. They serve your food on a wooden board with a red checkered napkin. Everything is homemade there and they were out of croissants by the time we got there at noon so I think getting there earlier would assure that they won't run out of anything. This beautiful restaurant is less than a 10 minute walk from the nearest bus station. When you walk in you are greeted by the very nice owner who is also the chef, but even better, is the smell. It smells incredible in here! I ordered three things, crossiant with honey, crepe with ham and an egg (additional charge) and homemade fruit and vegetable juice. IT WAS INCREDIBLE!! I immediately demolished the crossaint and quickly decided I would order one more for the road. I added sea salt and pepper to the crepe, and it elevated the meal. Truly, truly excellent meal for the money. Without the extra crossaint, (1.80 €) my total meal came to 12.60 € without tax or tip. Plus I was able to charge my phone! read more

CHez Lorraine is my go to brunch spot. It's a little off the beaten path, but it's definitely worth it. It's run by just Lorraine and she cooks all the food herself. I've been coming here pretty often and I haven't had a bad meal once. Plus, her coffee is fantastic. I would DEFINITELY recommend coming here if you need a quiet place to have a delicious meal. read more

Small cafe in the Jordaan offering really nice breakfast : fresh juice, eggs, crêpes. The food was really good and exactly what you expect for breakfast. Decor is a mix of old cafe furniture, wooden shelves with flowers ... and on top Lorraine and Léo are absolutely lovely. Great energy to start our day ... even at noon :-). read more

We went to this café this afternoon randomly. I ordered a mocha latte , it was tasty ! And then we ordered madeleine , they are home made , better than in France ! To say this place is amazing in all aspects would be an understatement. Chez Lorraine, the sweet/sincere owner(s), delicious food and cozy ambiance were all equally incredible. This is definitely one of my new favorite breakfast places in this city. It's a small quaint place so it can get full quite quickly but it's definitely worth it. Everything is cooked on the spot and so delicious. The eggs were light and fluffy but also so flavorful! And everything is served with a smile and a laugh. The coffee was perfect. The French have always been masters of breakfast and I'm so glad we now have a proper cosy little corner of Paris in Amsterdam. read more

Nice surprise, we ended up having a lovely late breakfast at Lorraine's place (the french owner of Chez Lorraine). She is very welcoming, have handmade fresh french food and a chill atmosphere. Coffee is well chosen and taste pretty good, the quiche lorraine is fantastic. You should call if you can't make it before noon as it can be packed. read more
