You should definitely try this place when you are in Amsterdam. It's not a touristic place, more like a local restaurant. First we ordered a corn soup with shrimps and ham, which came with some homemade bread. Main course was raclette and as a side dish they brought salad and baked baby potato with it. The cool thing is they are bringing cooking stuff to your table in order to melt the cheese and create your own dish as you wish (with ham or beef). Later, we ordered their new desert as citrus merengue with chopped strawberries and chocolate sticks. All of them were perfect and we enjoyed it a lot. Overall price is quite affordable and they also have good glass wine. Lastly, service was amazing, both waitresses were very friendly and helpful. Overall, must go place.

Holy ****, this place is amazing! Me and my boyfriend went for a walk in Amsterdam, we went down a quiet street by the canals, and there it was! "Bistrot des Alpes". At the time the place was closed, but since i'm vegetarian, and it seemed like they had a good vegetarian dish, we went back in the evening, with no expectations. We just thought that it was some standard french restaurant, but when we walked in, we were met by this cozy ski/mountain themed restaurant. - the service was amazing! Two really nice fremch and englishspeaking ladies were the waitress' this evening. Water and bread was free, and they happily gave you refill on those things. We also got some really good liquor after paying, and some french candy (since i love free stuff, this was just my place) - then to the food! We started with a cheeseplatter with some really nice french cheeses. I got a risottoinspired pasta dish (vegetarian) and it was manifique! My boyfriend got the fish of the day, and he told me that it was the best food he have had in years! Also the food was served really nicely! We also had a glass of wine and some beers and ended up paying 71 euros, which isn't a lot compared to what we got. Definately recommending this place to all my friends and all of you reading this!! Excited to come back to this place when i'm in amsterdam again!

    Fondue served with salad

We've been there twice. The first time the food was excellent and so was the service. The second time we've placed a reservation. After we got our seats we waited a long time to receive the menu card. The aperitif was served after the drinks. The waitress did not notice us anymore. Service can be fine but you need to go there early. We got the impression that the fondue was not as good as the first time, too.

A small part of the restaurant.

Delicious Raclette in a cozy setting. A tiny wooden bucket of roasted potatoes, charcuterie, and pickles.

Two tables next to us had the Raclette, which comes with a little coal oven to melt it, and they seem to do that perfectly too.

We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!

Explore everything here! We came to Dutch Delicacy on pure accident, as we were walking around and saw that they had a ton of different goudas for sale. In the front part of the store is a take-out counter where they sell hot items, like sandwiches and baked pastries and desserts, like cheesecakes and cookies the size of your face! It all looked appealing and would've totally purchased a food item, had we not had lunch beforehand. Throughout the store were the cheese samples of the many different various kinds. It goes beyond what you thought gouda could be. There are sheep's and goat's cheeses for many of the different types. There are pesto cheeses that come in different colors like a bright blue and pink. There are cheeses that pair well with the dips that had me thinking about my next dinner party. There's Dutch chocolate here for sale. There's different knives for cutting cheese. There's truly everything here you could imagine for your gouda-filled meal. Staff was super friendly and asked if we needed any help or wanted to know more about any of the different cheeses. For sale, a lot of the goudas are pre-packaged for a pound and meets airline security measures for taking it home with you. I'm glad we stumbled upon Dutch Delicacy. We were able to try so many different cheeses, which I found a few for home. I recommend for anyone visiting Amsterdam to make a stop here; there's a lot of items you'll want to take home with you.

I ordered the Angus rib steak and they recommended medium, but my steak was quite pink and very chewy. My friends remarked it looked more like medium rare or even rare and I agreed. It was very hard to chew the pieces. The right part of the steak was also a lot of gristle or cartilage. The herb butter was not bad and I ended up using a lot of it on the steak. I did share a split pea soup with my spouse and we liked the soup. It had boar sausage and I didn't think it was that salty like I normally do with a lot of sausage. The soup was quite thick and the flavors were nice. The pea flavors were indeed strong. My friend got the beef stew but they didn't give you that much meat. They did give you a lot of fries though. I thought the fries were thick and not bad. My spouse and friend both ordered the Zealand mussels and it came in this giant pot. The soup was at the bottom but it was difficult to get to the soup at the bottom of the pot since the mussels were on top. They bought thought this dish was okay. They didn't charge for water here which was nice. It's a tossup in Europe if they will charge you for water!
