@ciel_bleu_restaurant Perched on the 23rd floor of@hotel_okura_amsterdam French restaurant with two Michelin stars in #amsterdam Most memorable for me was the tuna tartare served in the spine of the tuna!!! Imaginative and creative. One of the best tuna tartare l've had. Also, the venison was outstanding. The chocolate desert was dressed like a crown of thorns. Service was friendly and professional without overbearing. Truly a bucket list culinary destination.

We enjoy splurging on dining experiences when traveling internationally. My husband and I mutually decided this was a top 5 dining experience of our entire lives and the top dining experience we've had in Europe so far. From the moment we were seated until the last bite, the execution, service and energy was flawless. We were there for over 5+ hours, enjoyed the most decadent caviar, wine and top tier course after course. We visited last summer and 9 months later we talk about this experience frequently. The staff was incredible - they took their time educated us on each course, answered questions we had and made perfect recommendations. Now let's describe the view. WOW WOW WOW. We had an unobstructed view of the entire city to sea. The name of the restaurant is fitting as it means Blue Sky and I still dream about how perfectly the sun set while we were eating and the mood it created. The cost is high, 2 Michelin star high- BUT if you are in Amsterdam, or planning to go, start saving and budgeting for a meal like this! We have ZERO regrets and will go back again. The pictures do not reflect every course as we were trying to be present during the meal. But notice the change in the sky as the meal progresses. Thank you to ALL the staff, the chef and team-it was unforgettable.

I've never spent so much money to feel hungry. The view is great, the service is great, and the presentation is fantastic. The bread, handmade butter, and desert, were fantastic. But beyond that there was a lot more show in this place than substance. 3 of the 5 courses were not tasty to me. I left feeling hungry. Paying this much for a meal was a significant splurge for us, far beyond what we've ever paid, and the food was not far beyond what we've ever experienced.

Food was amazing. We were a party of four and went with the light version of the tasting menu; the whole dinner took 5 hours. Started off with some appetizers paired with champion in the lounge area near the entrance of the restaurant where you could see this gorgeous view of the Amsterdam city from the 23rd floor. I literally enjoyed every single one of the course and all of them were full of surprise and complex mix of different tastes and textures which worked out magically well. If I have to pick a favorite, it was Onno Kokmeijer - the signature dish. Wine pairing portions were generous enough for two people to share. Service overall was solid as you would have expected from a Michelin 2 stars restaurant. Inner decor and layout was classic. The table we got was by the window, nice setting by itself with an awesome view but itsort of facing towards a side opening of the kitchen (although quite distant) and I found it a bit distracting to see people going in and out.

I had one of the best meals in my life here. Being in Amsterdam added to the experience and made it that much more memorable. Ciel Bleu is part of Hotel Okura on the 23rd floor so you can get a sweet view with their wide windows. It almost felt like Hotel Okura was one of the tallest buildings there. I loved how they were quick to offer two different types of olive oil immediately. It was almost like an olive oil tasting session since we were confused about the difference between the two. Anyway, from that point on I knew it was going to be a good experience. You can choose either a la carte or their set menus with four courses and they seem to be pretty flexible about switching out a course to something else. I switched out one of the items with a Chocolate Dome Foie Gras. Also not everyone at the table has to order the four course menu! But it's worth the money. The a la carte sizes are a bit bigger but you need to take advantage of the time you're there and try as many dishes as possible! Yes, the decoration and the setting felt a little older but the service was so detailed and every single one of my dishes plus all the chef's complimentary amuse bouches were unimaginably perfect and innovative (especially their deconstructed tom yam appetizer with the edible paper). I find it hard to believe that anyone would be unhappy with their experience here. Don't miss Ciel Bleu if you're on vacation in Amsterdam!!!! If you have the chance to stop by, do it!

Put away that phone and just enjoy the moment :-)

What a treat to be able to come here! My husband and I were on a holiday here, and we thought why not? Life is too short and tomorrow we might get hit by a ten ton truck, as Morrissey sang in his "There is a light that never goes out". So on this holiday we decided to live it up and pretended we were the top one percenter. From the moment we stepped out of the elevator to the moment we bidded farewell to the hosts, service was unmatchable to anything we've ever encountered. The host asked if we wanted to start our evening in their beautiful lounge, or go directly to their elegant dining room. We opted for the lounge and took in the amazing view of Amsterdam. Once we were settled, we then were given the option of wine, champagne, or beer for our introductory beverages. Both my husband and I chose champagne. Then came the "Bites". An array of interesting looking appetizers, 4 or 5 of them in timely intervals. They were indeed a prelude to a memorable evening. A couple of reviewers mentioned a 5 hour service, and so we were expecting to spend the entire night at Ciel Bleu. We did not. However, we were there for a little over 3 hours, which was comparable to 2 other Michelin restaurants we've gone to in the past. We did the tasting menu along with wine pairing. If you are a light weight, be warned. Once you get into the entree part of this tasting menu, each dish will be paired with wine. I believe there were 8 (perhaps 9) after the bites in the lounge. It was one exquisite dish after another. The artistic talent of the chefs here are commendable. I upgraded mine to Japanese Wagyu Kagoshima for the signature dish while my husband stayed with the lamb. I've never had it before, but I do remember seeing why this particular beef is so coveted. Apparently these certain cows get special treatments such as daily massages while the rest of the cows look on with envy. Well I can tell you that those massages really made the most tender steak I've ever eaten in my life. It was as tender as moisted butter. Was it worth the upgrade for such a tiny portion? Honestly no, but what a delicious experience it was. Been there, done that. No regrets. A hefty transaction on our credit card statement, but no regrets. I was tempted to take some pictures, but they have a little plaque on every table in the dining room with no cell phone please. So I took a picture of that instead and enjoyed the Ciel Bleu experience to the fullest without having to snap photos when a new entree arrived.

Located on the Rozengracht, it's super central and easy to get to from just about anywhere in the Jordaan or the Center. * The Atmosphere: It's dark, moody, and has a very cool "late-night" energy. The burgers are massive and juicy, and the ribs literally fall off the bone. * The Vibe: It's a bit louder and more energetic than a standard restaurant, making it perfect for a night out with a group or a casual date with great cocktails. It gets incredibly busy, so even though it feels like a "hidden" spot from the outside, you'll definitely want to book a table ahead of time. Overall: A total neighborhood win. We entered and seated ourselves, and within 5 minutes, a staff person greeted us, brought us a flask of tap water (tastes great and clean) and two glasses, and gave us menus. We ordered a short rib sandwich for him and a chicken Caesar sandwich for me. These come à la carte but you can add sides if you want. I was glad we didn't because the portion was generous. One thing I've noticed here is that the bread is always high quality--our sandwiches came in baguettes about 8 inches long --I had to cut mine in half to eat it lol. Both were savory and flavorful and satisfying. The meat was tender and well seasoned. We savored every bite! They both had crispy bacon in them as well. Very filling! Just what we needed to energize us after our morning at Keukenhof!
