@ciel_bleu_restaurant Perched on the 23rd floor of@hotel_okura_amsterdam French restaurant with two Michelin stars in #amsterdam Most memorable for me was the tuna tartare served in the spine of the tuna!!! Imaginative and creative. One of the best tuna tartare l've had. Also, the venison was outstanding. The chocolate desert was dressed like a crown of thorns. Service was friendly and professional without overbearing. Truly a bucket list culinary destination.

We enjoy splurging on dining experiences when traveling internationally. My husband and I mutually decided this was a top 5 dining experience of our entire lives and the top dining experience we've had in Europe so far. From the moment we were seated until the last bite, the execution, service and energy was flawless. We were there for over 5+ hours, enjoyed the most decadent caviar, wine and top tier course after course. We visited last summer and 9 months later we talk about this experience frequently. The staff was incredible - they took their time educated us on each course, answered questions we had and made perfect recommendations. Now let's describe the view. WOW WOW WOW. We had an unobstructed view of the entire city to sea. The name of the restaurant is fitting as it means Blue Sky and I still dream about how perfectly the sun set while we were eating and the mood it created. The cost is high, 2 Michelin star high- BUT if you are in Amsterdam, or planning to go, start saving and budgeting for a meal like this! We have ZERO regrets and will go back again. The pictures do not reflect every course as we were trying to be present during the meal. But notice the change in the sky as the meal progresses. Thank you to ALL the staff, the chef and team-it was unforgettable.

I've never spent so much money to feel hungry. The view is great, the service is great, and the presentation is fantastic. The bread, handmade butter, and desert, were fantastic. But beyond that there was a lot more show in this place than substance. 3 of the 5 courses were not tasty to me. I left feeling hungry. Paying this much for a meal was a significant splurge for us, far beyond what we've ever paid, and the food was not far beyond what we've ever experienced.

Food was amazing. We were a party of four and went with the light version of the tasting menu; the whole dinner took 5 hours. Started off with some appetizers paired with champion in the lounge area near the entrance of the restaurant where you could see this gorgeous view of the Amsterdam city from the 23rd floor. I literally enjoyed every single one of the course and all of them were full of surprise and complex mix of different tastes and textures which worked out magically well. If I have to pick a favorite, it was Onno Kokmeijer - the signature dish. Wine pairing portions were generous enough for two people to share. Service overall was solid as you would have expected from a Michelin 2 stars restaurant. Inner decor and layout was classic. The table we got was by the window, nice setting by itself with an awesome view but itsort of facing towards a side opening of the kitchen (although quite distant) and I found it a bit distracting to see people going in and out.

I had one of the best meals in my life here. Being in Amsterdam added to the experience and made it that much more memorable. Ciel Bleu is part of Hotel Okura on the 23rd floor so you can get a sweet view with their wide windows. It almost felt like Hotel Okura was one of the tallest buildings there. I loved how they were quick to offer two different types of olive oil immediately. It was almost like an olive oil tasting session since we were confused about the difference between the two. Anyway, from that point on I knew it was going to be a good experience. You can choose either a la carte or their set menus with four courses and they seem to be pretty flexible about switching out a course to something else. I switched out one of the items with a Chocolate Dome Foie Gras. Also not everyone at the table has to order the four course menu! But it's worth the money. The a la carte sizes are a bit bigger but you need to take advantage of the time you're there and try as many dishes as possible! Yes, the decoration and the setting felt a little older but the service was so detailed and every single one of my dishes plus all the chef's complimentary amuse bouches were unimaginably perfect and innovative (especially their deconstructed tom yam appetizer with the edible paper). I find it hard to believe that anyone would be unhappy with their experience here. Don't miss Ciel Bleu if you're on vacation in Amsterdam!!!! If you have the chance to stop by, do it!

Culinary Violence, Fantastic, Refined, Food Art, a real Dining Experience - a little selection of everything that comes up in my mind. The food, the ambiance, the staff, the wines, it all was amazing. I'm was and I'm still dazzled. Great flavours, great dishes and a sublime combination of food and wine. The staff was exceptionally good, professional and very friendly. One of the best restaurants I've eaten, with international allure. And do not forget the beautiful and very special view of Amsterdam from the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam.

Put away that phone and just enjoy the moment :-)

I found it browsing Yelp, and the name alone told me this was going to be a meat-forward kind of night. Fair warning if you're bringing anyone squeamish about restaurant names: The wife wasn't thrilled about it going in, though the food won her over fast. Getting there was its own small adventure. The place sits down a narrow alley, and our Uber couldn't get us all the way to it, which turned into a bit of a hike. That happened to us more than once in Amsterdam, using the exact address didn't always mean the driver could actually reach the door, so budget a few extra minutes if you're headed here. I normally default to steak, but the menu had a burger topped with pulled pork that promised more meat than a straight cut, and I couldn't pass it up. Delicious. Genuinely one of the best burgers I've had. But the wife's flat iron steak might have stolen the night. Flat iron is one of the most underrated cuts out there, and this kitchen proved it. She was still talking about that steak days after we got home, enough that I ended up buying flat irons from Costco just to chase it. The atmosphere is cool and a little edgy, dim lighting, a lot of character, and yes, some genuinely creepy decor scattered around, including an old doll that stares at you like it's judging your order. It ran loud, but not so loud we couldn't hold a conversation across the table. Service was good, just on European time rather than American time. Getting the check took a while, which threw us off at first, but that's the norm across the EU, not a knock on this place specifically. Pricey, but worth every bit of it. We'd go back without hesitation next time we're in Amsterdam.

It was very warm in the place, so keep that in mind if you're traveling in Amsterdam during a heat dome! We had a couple servers who worked with us nd both were kind and friendly. They didn't quite communicate with each other about our need to split the check a specific way, but it worked out in the end. We enjoyed some cocktails and beer (ranging from 9.50 Euro to 12 Euro), as well as the Pork Belly and Pickles to start off (21.50 Euro for 300 grams). Tasty way to start the meal. The three of us shared our mains and enjoyed what we had. The Favorite Ribs (24.50 Euro) were flavorful; the L'Incroyable 300gr (Ribeye; 34.50 Euro) was good, but our least favorite of what we ordered; the Le Cannibale Royale 170gr (burger) was super tasty. We also enjoyed some frites (4.90 Euro) and some delicious Mac n Cheese (6.50 Euros). Good time and good food!

We sat on the patio. Our server brought us complementary bread with butter while we read through the menu. I'm told my meal was authentic Dutch food, but it just seemed like a strange combination. The name slipped my mind, but it was a pile of mashed potatoes with endive, with a meatball on top with brown gravy and then beside that with some type of smoked sausage with a pile of mustard. I've always felt that whatever food you put on a plate should taste good together sausage with the mustard with the meat and the gravy and the mashed potatoes just seem disjointed to me. With that sad, I ate every drop of it and enjoyed it so maybe I learned something from this meal. ‍ My son took the alternative approach and ordered a meal with Indonesian flavors; chicken with peanut sauce was the main entrée and it came with french fries. He definitely enjoyed his meal as well. I'm glad we gave VS a try. It turned out to be a good meal of Dutch food in a touristy area with food from all over the world. I guess I'm old-fashioned because I just wanted a taste of the local cuisine. Cheers!

I'd say about 95% of the people were ordering the apple pie, so of course we had to get one to see what the hype was about. The apple pie is pretty unique, it's basically a big chunk of cooked apple topped with a sweet, crumbly cookie like crust. The flavor reminded me of those little brown biscuits you get as airplane snacks... basically Biscoff cookies. lol!!! Overall, you really taste the natural apple flavor along with that Biscoff like cookie flavor. The pie itself isn't very sweet, which I actually liked, but adding some whipped cream definitely brings up the sweetness and makes it even better. The setup is pretty straightforward: get in line, order and pay, pick up your food, then find your own seat. It's definitely a popular spot, so be prepared for the crowd and a bit of a wait.

The exterior blends naturally into the surrounding streetscape of traditional Dutch buildings to the point that we almost missed it - it's a cozy, townhouse-feel, with large front windows allowing plenty of daylight into the restaurant. Inside, the space feels cramped yet cozy, with a bright, café-style design that prioritizes natural light but preserves old furnishings. It's a two-story setup with closely-packed tables, crafting an intimate atmosphere. At around noon on a Friday, the restaurant was full, so my walk-in party of three waited around fifteen minutes before a table opened up. The menu is firmly centered around breakfast and brunch, with a selection of egg dishes, pancakes, sandwiches, pastries, specialty coffee, and lighter lunch fare. The offerings lean contemporary and international rather than traditionally Dutch, and portions are substantial without being excessive (not an American diner by any means), and the menu balances healthier options with more indulgent brunch classics. It's the sort of place where nearly every table seems to have a combination of coffee, eggs, and something sweet. One friend ordered their Dutch Caesar Sandwich (€16.75), which was a gargantuan sandwich atop hearty toasted sourdough, crisp Romaine lettuce, chicken salad, and a tangy 48-month aged Parmesan cheese. She enjoyed the variety of textures and flavors in the sandwich, and it was a great portion for the price. My other friend opted for the Eggs Benedict (€17), which was two perfectly-poached eggs served atop a golden-brown toasted fluffy bun, country ham, and a rich, decadent hollandaise sauce. This was a truly photogenic dish with some excellent flavors to back it up. Lastly, I ordered their French Toast & Stroopwafel (€15.5), which was a thick slice of brioche french toast with a whipped vanilla cream, fresh apple compote (with a lovely flavor of cinnamon), stroopwafel caramel, and a light dusting of stroopwafel crumble. Between the soft, custardy french toast, the light cream, the slightly tart apple compote, and the crunchy stroopwafel, this was a truly playful dish, and I've never had one quite like it. The overall atmosphere strikes a balance between modern brunch spot and neighborhood café, making it an appealing option for breakfast or lunch before a day of exploring the city center. Service is so friendly and helpful, and pricing falls comfortably within Amsterdam's mid-range café market, with most guests spending approximately €15-30 per person. If you're looking for a great brunch in the city before a day of exploring, I highly recommend Mortimer!
