It was late so Chris and I decided to eat before checking in to our hotel. This building is neat and looked like it had a lot of history. We sat at the bar to avoid the 30-minute wait as they were very busy. We decided on the Duo Dinner which was actually a bargain for a four-course meal for two! We enjoyed and devoured everything! The calamari was tender and well-seasoned. The stew was hot and flavorful. Not pictured was Chris's prime rib. It was super tender! My salmon was grilled to perfection and the carrot cake was a sweet ending to a very satisfying meal!

Came for a private event -a weekday lunch and learn. Found the experience a pleasant one. The private room was set up well and the timing was flawless. Our speaker said we'd expect salad at a certain time and our entrees at another certain time and they were both delivered exactly on time to a room full of people. My steak medallion was hot and cooked the perfect medium rare, though the bacon wrap was soggy and I didn't eat it. Mashed potatoes and side carrots were also hot and tasty. Enjoyed the experience and felt the service was amazing to somehow always keep our drinks full but not be disruptive.

What can improve? For starters everything! If you're going to charge over $50 for a steak you better make sure you know how to cook it. I ordered medium rare but it was undercooked. The asparagus and potato were nothing less than boring. I will not be back. The decor is old and dingy. This place needs a lot of work.

Good experience going here. I got the 2 person meal for $99 -- includes an appetizer, two soup/salads, 2 entrees, and a dessert. The steak was good, but I don't know if it was worth the price! Still liked it though. It was mostly quiet, which was nice for conversation. I'd come back in the future.

We went to the Hereford House on Midland for my birthday dinner last night and once again, they knocked it out of the park! Hereford always has the feel of a great steakhouse, and they live up to that. I love the "cowboy chic" theme of the restaurant. Our waitress was great and even brought an unexpected dessert for my birthday. She was awesome. The food is always the star here. No one in Kansas City beats the 1957 Salad. The in-house cheese and garlic dressings (pink and yellow dressings) are the best. I always recommend getting both. Then I got the perfectly prepared Prime Rib. Again, maybe the best in town. I can't wait until the next time!

Went here for a date night and honestly, was pleasantly surprised. The service was was a little slow at the beginning but the food came out pretty quickly. You're given a soft honey white bread to start and this was absolutely delicious. I wish my meal consisted of this bread only, it was really good! (I usually don't rave about the complimentary bread but this was definitely good.) When trying a new restaurant, I always opt to order two appetizers.. guess it's just a tradition. Order the calamari, for sure! Usually, calamari is hit or miss and a lot places can't perfect the texture. The texture of this calamari was amazing. Tasted really good, the spicy marinara definitely added to the taste. I would order this every time. The crab cakes... go ahead and skip out on ordering this. The taste wasn't too bad but came out cold and the aioli that came with the crab cakes was personally too pungent and tart; would've preferred a milder taste on the garlic (usually i am a HUGE fan of garlic) but the aioli really doesn't pair well with the taste of these crab cakes specifically. Salmon - VERY good, mashed potatoes.. strange texture almost "gooey", i skipped out on eating this. Can't go wrong with broccoli, this was just okay. I would come back for the salmon, bread, and calamari. :~)

I always leave the Hereford house in Shawnee feeling so happy with the service and food. Bobbie was AMAZING in answering my questions and helping me find a meal that was Whole30 approved. Max was very attentive as well and made the experience very enjoyable! Can't wait to come back!! Thank you!!

We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.

We walked in and it reminded me of a hometown butcher shop. They had a variety of meats, cheeses, condiments, wine & other food related items. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a cozy place. You can get things to go or just eat there. We ate there I got the Reuben sandwich. Is it the best one in the area? I don't know as I have not been to every place in the area who offers a Reuben. However, it is the best one I have eaten. The sandwich was perfectly maid. The bread was a marble rye, not to thin and thick enough to hold together as you ate it. For the cheese you had a choice of Swiss or Gouda. I went with the Swiss. The sandwich was warmed up just enough to nicely melt the cheese. They make their own corn beef, which you can buy there as well. They had other things that they make themselves, like stuff mushrooms, which looked really good. The corn beef was excellent. With all that said, be prepared to pay $20 for that sandwich. Expensive, but I would say worth it. We also got one of their lunch specials. It was a 4" sub, chips and a soda for $10. As my wife said, it was just okay. However, we are biased towards one local sandwich shop which has great sub bread. This sandwich was good, however the bread was just okay.
