Got the chicken mayo bowl and it was A-OK! The rice was a bit cold and there was a good amount of chicken but felt it wasn't anything too special. I believe it was the owner who ran the show and he brought out our food pretty quickly for a group of 11.

Cute authentic Korean Asian fusion restaurant. Randomly found this on Google maps and it did not disappoint! The flavour, portion sizes and prices are perfectly on par. Definitely recommend the S.C.R.S & chicken mayo bowl. So filling and delicious. I'd be interested to come back and try the other items on the menu. Really cute back story of how the restaurant came to be, ambience has a nice vibe and friendly staff and service. Love supporting local restaurants.

This Korean restaurant is my top 3 restaurants in Korean town. We ordered Coco shrimps, SCRS rice bowl and Pig Bulgogi. Everything was perfect, and it tastes delicious. SCRS is a must when you come to this restaurant. I was on cloud 9 after eating it. We will definitely come back in the summer. Highly recommended.

Major bang for buck. Lots of veggies, flavour, and you can really taste the unique personal spin the Chef has taken on Korean food. The restaurant has her cool and very personal stories posted all around. SUN ROCK CLOUD & SNOW (5/5)- Cloud Egg on top of beef + pork + zucchini + carrot + onion burger patty on a bed of rice. So delicious and satisfying to cut into the egg. DRUG SALAD (3.5/5) PORK BULGOGI (4/5) - spicy from the gochujang and great customer service for letting us substitute the rice for greens

I've seen many photos of yummy food and finally was able to try it out for myself. This is a small restaurant with not many seats but on a Saturday evening my friend and I did not have trouble finding a place to sit. The dishes looked deceptively small in the photos and my friend even ordered an appetizer. It turns out the portions aren't small at all and we were sufficiently stuffed. The coco shrimp came out piping hot, beware when immediately stuffing one in your mouth when it arrives at the table. The SCRS Original had a yolk that was in a cloud of very fluffy egg whites. The combination of meat and veggies mixed with the yolk and rice was delightful. The server kept checking in to make sure everything was okay and to see if we wanted more water. The washrooms are downstairs and the stairs are a bit steep so be careful.

Food can often tell a story, and that story can often create deeper meaning or change the way you experience the food you are about to eat. With this particular store, I was really drawn into the story of cooking authentic Korean food for students that felt homesick. So I tried some of their top dishes and they did not disappoint! The Chicken Mayo bowl was the top item and I can really see why! It's so simple yet so good, as a crispy fried chicken rice bowl topped with some kewpie mayo. This is definitely something I could've seen myself eating every day as a college student. The First Place Steak Salad was also very deserving of its title because the filet mignon really melted in my mouth! The sauce that was part of the salad was a delightfully sweet and tangy flavor that reminded me that I was essentially eating Korean barbecue, and I would never be disappointed with that! I also had the Salmon Lovers Poki Bowl which was also pretty good. But after eating the other two items first, I felt that this item didn't have as much flavor as I would've liked. The salmon was still quite fresh and I enjoyed it nonetheless!

I forgot what this noodle was but it was very good honestly, plenty of meat and udon style noodles with gravylike soup

We were looking for poke bowl for lunch and found this gem. Glad it wasn't busy bec it's a small place. Salmon Poke bowl did not disappoint. Generous portion and hefty amounts of fresh salmon! It was very satisfying. Don't forget to try their Korean Fried Chicken (honey soy garlic) it was very crispy and tasty indeed and that hint of sweetness, boy was it good! Happy tummy!

Her Chef is a take-out and small dine-in Korean-Japanese fusion restaurant. They do house private dine-in events (date, small party of friends or family) under the name One Table on Wednesday evenings, I think it would be best to call in to reserve a spot. Stopped by quickly for a quick snack. I will admit this is not a complete review but will update when I try more of their menu in the future. Food: I have only tried their coco shrimp, if you do order this please take precaution as this item can be hot (temperature-wise). The shrimp was succulent and the coconut fried batter was crispy and had the toasted coconut taste. The sweet chilli sauce had a special mix of herbs in it which complemented this quality appetizer. Service & atmosphere: The fried appetizer took time to prepare but this indicates that care is put into their food. There are two tables and bar-style seating. The owners/ staff provided good service and were friendly. Price: Prices ranged around $10, their most expensive menu item being $13. I cannot comment on portion sizes as I only ordered an appetizer. I will definitely come back to try their chicken mayo....

Wow! Hidden gem! Food was so delicious and unique. My daughter and I had a lunch together at her chef. Pleasantly surprised by the food created by the chef.

Between my sister and I, we decided to order 3 dishes, thinking that it would be enough to fill us and I was totally wrong on that because it really filled us up. The egg dish really caught my eye because it is not common to see an egg prepared that way. So we got the SCRS that contained that interesting egg, the chicken mayo bowl (our favorite out of all of them) and the steak with rice dish. I found the egg whites part to be a bit chewy, which is an odd texture for eggs. The steak with rice dish was also interesting, it was kind of difficult for me to eat it as the meat pieces were chewy and the sauce they used what something I was not really a fan of. Presentation was nice but taste was different than what I expected.

To this day, even after 5 months and in quarantine, I am still revisiting the comfort and the back story that this restaurant brings. Places like this is the reason why I find so much value in exploring restaurants, trying new food, and appreciating the intimate atmosphere that is often not quite felt at home. I don't know what else to say except to please please stop by Her Chef if you're ever in Toronto on a korean food hunt! I ordered the karaage chicken mayo-- freaking delicious crispy fried glory and the seafood soup (I don't recall the exact name)-- SO GOOD. so comforting, hints of yukgaejang flavors. :) I'm not even korean and it made me really miss home. Really grateful for this place. Please support through online delivery methods y'all!!

4.5 STARS!!!! I have to say, all restaurants downtown will ALWAYS have 0.5 stars taken away because of parking. but in terms of food, oh. my. god. I LOVE AND ADORE THEIR FOOD!!! Korean home cooking, Korean comfort food, extreme comfort food!!! Great price for the great portions!!! First time here was with a friend and her son, we ordered their Green Curry, Chicken Karagge and SCRS Original - absolute heaven. Presentation of their food, B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L and VERY photogenic!! Taste of their food? *drooling* 2nd visit and I brought my significant other here - and we ordered the same thing minus the Green Curry. Not because it's not delicious, but because there was no way we could finish all three dishes LOL.

    Cerolia K.

The egg on the SCRS bowl was super unique. It was fluffy and soft and mixed really well with the meat and rice. The portions are relatively small and I wish I ordered more. The price is really reasonable and the service is really fast. Their dalgona coffee was pretty good too - just abit sweet for me.

Good value and reasonable food. Ingredients could be fresher. Karage chicken felt chewy and dated.

Pokito is a Hawaiian restaurant/take out joint located along Queen St. W. near Spadina Ave (close…read moreto Cameron St.). They've been a staple for poke in the area for years, however, their menu has expanded to include more Hawaiian foods like plate lunches and snacks (like onigiri and spam musubi). I recently stopped by Pokito to pick up take out for dinner as I had stumbled upon a $10 coupon from the restaurant over Facebook. Upon entering, the space is inviting and warm, with wooden accents throughout the space. There are several tables if you'd like to dine in. The menu is large and they also have daily deals as well. In the small fridge display they have a sample of their poke on display along with other items like onigiri, desserts, and drinks. Their poke bowls are likely the most popular items to be ordered but definitely don't skip out on the plate lunches as well! I opted to grab a garlic shrimp scampi plate lunch (tail-on shrimp sauteed in buttery garlic sauce on rice (can choose between white or brown rice) with mac salad and a salad slaw) for $22.50. I did have $10 off my order which was great. If you sign up for their rewards program you also get other deals as well (the next deal I get is 50% off a plate lunch for a limited time!). My order was made fresh which took about 5-10 min. I didn't mind as I just sat down to wait. Service was friendly and efficient. I had my garlic shrimp scampi plate lunch for dinner. Beware that the shrimp is really garlicy and delicious! Just be careful if you need to talk to someone afterwards because they will smell it. The rice absorbed some of that garlic flavour which made the rice even better. The mac salad was great and the salad slaw helped to cut through everything as well. Portions were large and I was full afterwards. Overall, a great place for Hawaiian plate lunches (and I'm sure poke as well!) in the Queen/Spadina area. Definitely will return to try more of their plate lunches as well as poke.

1/2 I've consumed so…read moremuch ahi poke in my life that my bloodstream is basically a sashimi smoothie. But this place? This place made me reconsider my will. I had the spicy garlic ahi and the original ahi, and the tuna was so fresh I half expected it to still be swimming. It melted in my fat little mouth like it was apologizing for every bad life choice I've ever made. This honestly rivaled poke I've had in Honolulu, which is terrifying because that means I no longer need Hawaii--I can now die broke and mercury-riddled right here at home. The spicy ahi hits hard too. Caucasians, if you've ever cried during a Taco Bell mild sauce packet, you should probably update your life insurance before ordering. My only critique? More sides and toppings. If I'm going to spiral into heavy-metal toxicity, I want to do it with reckless abandon and at least three different crunchy things sprinkled on top. Still, this place is so good I'd happily shave a few years off my life expectancy for another bowl. Who needs retirement when you've got poke like this?

I changed things up and visited the food court at Atrium on Bay. It was nice seeing several stalls open at around 4:30 pm. It was a toss-up choice between My Sushi or Fusia Asian Kitchen. I looked at the former's menu and liked what I saw. An early dinner from My Sushi, it was! You can get a bunch of sushi rolls. There were many options. I took one look at the poke menu and knew I needed a bowl. I got a regular. You can also do a large. A Chinese couple owns this business. The man took my order. The woman prepared my bowl. The man was helpful and nice. He said that I could do rice or salad, or half of each, if I liked. I went with salad. For the sauce, I chose teriyaki. I also got a Diet Coke. I waited patiently for my food. It didn't take too long. The woman asked if I needed a plastic bag. I waived it off, as I was going to rip open and devour my food at the food court. I cracked open my can of Diet Coke. It was cold and hit the spot. I loved my poke bowl. The salmon was fresh and yummy. The mandarin oranges were a nice twist. They brightened this bowl significantly. There were crispy green bits that I enjoyed, but I didn't know what I ate... lol The greens are iceberg lettuce. I would have liked mixed greens, but the crisp lettuce worked out surprisingly nicely. The half-avocado's presentation was amazing. It was cubed and fanned out. This find was awesome! I would love to return for more. The regular-sized poke bowl was perfect. Down the road, I can see my getting a large. Perhaps I'll try the sashimi next. I love sashimi! (197)
