I really, really love this place. It hasn't been in business for long but it already feels like a neighborhood staple. I often get either the salmon and rice bowl or the fried chicken and mayo bowl. Absolutely delicious and criminally cheap for a huge amount of food. Have also tried the coconut shrimp (very affordable and delicious, and great sauce on the side) and Sogogi (tasty garlic chips), and a couple other miscellaneous things. Even before COVID I always got takeout rather than eating in, and things were packed nicely and food was always still hot by the time I got home, so no worries on that front. My one tiny piece of constructive criticism would be that sometimes the rice is overcooked, but it's never bad enough to ruin what is otherwise a perfect meal. read more

Experience I had at Her Chef was amazing. DON'T BE FOOLE BY THE PRICE! The portions are very big. I ordered the bulgogi with rice dish and added sauce for $0.50. If you want more flavour - I'd recommend defintiely adding sauce (I added secret, smiley, and wasabi mayo). The server (who is the wife/owner) is very informative, and friendly. She kept checking in on us, and refilled our tea. We received a lot of free dishes (soup, dessert, and coconut shrimp) to try out - We were SO FULL. The bank and for buck is amazing at Her Chef. Her Chef has very quickly become my favourite local restaurant. You can really tell that chef Hur puts his passion and love into every dish; each is so unique and delicious. The prices are beyond reasonable (even downright surprising) given the impressive technique and high quality ingredients used. Chicken Mayo, CoCo Shrimp, SRCS, Sogogi and the Dragon Egg special are all tied for my favourite dishes. I'm sure it won't be long before I've tried every item on the menu. read more

Stopped by Her Chef while in Toronto for dinner. Ordered 2 Chicken Mayo, the ice cream croffle and the kingkatsu. The store itself is super cute and homey plus bonus thumbs up for the awesome kpop songs in the background! The cashier was very nice and food was prepared within a quick 20 minutes! We ordered two dishes for takeout and I was impressed, SCRS and Sogogi. Never had an egg like theirs before! I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate and creative their description is for the sun and cloudy egg. The meatballs were nice and tasted homemade, I liked the pickled onions (it wasn't super pickled which I usually dislike), sauce is nice and the sous vide sirloin steak was tender. Her Chef is fantastic! We tried it for dinner tonight and were very impressed! Everything was absolutely delicious, the prices were low, and the portion sizes were very generous. The owners were very sweet, and gave us free soup and chocolates for valentines day! The restaurant itself was quaint and cute with a few tables for eating in. We tried the drug salad, and true to it's name it's highly addictive! Spicy, tangy, pickle-y, it was a great accompaniment to the main dishes. The coco shrimp was a big portion, and were crispy, coconut-y, and delicious with the accompanying sweet and spicy sauce. We also tried the chicken mayo, which came with a mountain of crispy fried chicken karaage piled on a bed of scrambled eggs and white rice, topped with mayo and teriyaki sauce. So good! The big tuna with the spicy sauce was my favourite! It came with generous cubes of fresh tuna, red onion, cucumbers, drizzled with a fantastic spicy sauce. One of the best poke bowls in the city! The green curry was rich and loaded with a ton of tender crisp veggies, crispy potatoes, and came with garlic bread. I can't believe it was only $5! They can easily charge double for it and it would still be a bargain. Everything was fantastic, and we will definitely be ordering again in the near future. Fries came out first, hot and fresh with a really nice texture on the outside and creamy on the inside. Real good. Chicken came next. Lots of chicken breast. Was crunchy on the outside and tender inside. Sweet spicy sauce was a good balance to the double fried chicken. The sauce is a bit subtle but it hits the spot. Good food and value. read more

Came in on a quiet Saturday afternoon, no one was in the restaurant, got seated immediately by who I assumed was the chef. Good start took a turn for the worse when a lady who I assumed was the manager/co owner started training a guy who clearly was a new server and she didnt have any filter on. She was talking loudly, very patronizing towards the poor guy. Since we were the only patrons in the restaurant, we were the guinea pigs for his training. I could tell he was super nervous, she was fixing and commenting on every single thing that he was doing. I am all for great onboarding training program, but when you have actual customers involved, take it down a notch. I was feeling very uncomfortable throughout my stay. Anyway, the food tasted pretty good, creative recipes and the prices were not bad at all. If I was not traumatized by my first experience, I would go back. For now, I would not. read more
